I let out a heavy sigh, today was a killer. I stood up from my desk and bent over. A sickening crack echoed through the air. I watched my classmates filter through doors of Canterlot High, while I remained in school. “So Aero, We’re here again.” My moms looked at me with contempt.
“Caught with vodka. Aero, you told us you don’t drink.” Cheerilee cried.
“I don’t!”
“Then why did you have it?” my mother asked me sternly.
“I was holding it for someone.”
“Who?”
“It doesn’t matter. I got caught, and I have detention and ISS, so let’s just leave it at that.” I retorted.
“No, we will not leave it at that!” Cheerilee chided, “Was it that Star kid your always hanging out with?”
“Oh Crimson’s son, I knew that kid was a bad influence from minute one!”
“No, it was not Star! He has been anything but a negative influence. Will you just leave me alone so I can serve my detention?” I shouted. I could feel hot tears gathering in my eyes. This had been taking a toll on me for the longest time, and I could tell it was taking a toll on my parents as well.
“Aero what’s going on with you? Why are you acting like this?” Cheerilee placed her hand on my mother’s shoulder in a sympathetic manner. “I’m not sure.” I replied, “I’ll see you guys at home.”
I exhaled loudly, I was currently sitting on the steps of my front porch. Staring of into the distance, past the shining stars, past the millions of galaxies beyond ours, staring into the empty blackness, wishing it was the place where I could spend the rest of eternity. “And if I don’t belong who would have guessed it?” I sang aloud to myself.
“Aero…”
“I’m sorry,” I choked out.
“Honey, if you ever need anyone, I’m here for you.”
“I know mom.”
“Aero, if you stay here this weekend. We’ll forget any of this ever happened.”
“Okay.” I responded. “I love you mom.”
“I love you too Aero.”
Ring! Ring! I reached out blindly, skimming the area around my bed for what I was seeking. I took a quick glance at the alarm clock, it read 2 A.M., who would call me at this unholy hour? I pressed the answer button and gave a drowsy, “Hello?” *Inaudible chatter* “What?” *more inaudible chatter* “Now?” I asked. “Okay, I’ll be there.” I threw my covers from my body, quickly slipped on a pair of jeans and out the window.
I cut off the engine as a dark figure emerged from the well lit house, partially stumbling about. The person opened the door to my car, stepping inside, then shutting it behind them. “Hey honey *hic* thanks for coming to get me.” Berry Punch said placing a light kiss on my cheek.
“You’re welcome, anything for you,” I said taking a glance at her. I took various turns taking an inebriated Berry Punch back to her home. We finally arrived at her home, it quite apparent that her parents we not aware that she had even left. I stopped the car, and proceed in moving the gear shift into park. “Berry,”
“Hhmm?”
“Why do you do this? You come from a nice family, but I still don’t understand.” I looked at her, the cerise eyes where partially filled with tears. A single tear fell. I reached over and whipped it away with my thumb. “You know, I could do the things you do.” She looked at me. “I could. I could go get a fake I.D. buy a 24-pack and just relax someplace and drink them all.”
“Then why don’t you?” Berry asked, staring into my eyes.
“Because that’s not what I want.” We were silent for a while, only staring into each others eyes and holding the others hand. “Then what do you want?”
“Im not sure yet. But I’ll tell you when I figure it out.” Berry leaned over, slowly placing her head on my shoulder. “I love you.”
“I love you, too”
“Don’t end up a statistic, please for me.” Berry placed a passionate kiss on my lips.
“I won’t. Just don’t leave me, you’re the only thing I have to live for.”
“Berry I have to go. My parents will be up soon. I call you in the morning okay?” Berry Punch gave a hesitant nod, and exited my car. I watched as she strolled towards her home. I restarted my vehicle and drove back to my home.
The moon was on the brink of its invisibility, waiting for its chance to retreat behind the blue sky. I sat on my porch again, watching as the sun peaked over the lips of the horizon. I turned my attention to the door. It opened slowly, I saw my mother rubbing her eyes softly, she smile at me, proud to know that I was still home. Proud of me for who I am.
I stared at the morning sun, the light intensity was a strong allowing my sight to remain un-meddled with. Vvvvv! Vvvvv! “Hello?” I asked. “Hey honey,” It sounded like she was crying.
“Hey Berry, Are you okay?”
“No, I need to tell you something.”
“Okay…” I said with hesitation.
“I…I…IcheatedonyouI’msosorry!!!
I could feel the rage boiling inside me, with all my might I tried to quell anger with in me. Though it was apparent she was expecting me to be mad. “With who?” there was an audible gulp.
“Flash Sentry.”
“Ugh that asshole…”
“Another thing, I took a morning-after pill as a precaution.”
I balled my hand into a fist, words cannot express how betrayed I felt!
“That is great.”
“Your mad…”
‘No fucking dur!’
“….I have to go.” I immediately pressed the end call button, not even wanting give her a chance to reply with her usual, “I love you,” trying to soften the hurtful blows she inflicts to my heart. I flipped out my pocket knife, and ran the sharp blade over my hand feeling the intense sting. I quivered, pressing my fingertips into cut. My arm writhed in pain. This was the way I always handled my anger with Berry: cutting myself. Abusing my body to release the anger I felt for all cynical acts of hers that caused me pain.
“Aero!” I turned to find my mother covering her mouth in horror. “You promised you wouldn’t do this anymore!” She yelled, as Cheerilee brought a first-aid kit.
“Sooner or later, promises are always broken…” I said with my voice cracking softly. I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t not with them here. ‘I will be alone again sometime,’ I thought to myself. Then, and only then will I cry.
