“Hurry up, old man. They’re getting away.”
“Stop rushin’ me, “ Silver said. His mane now gray from age and stress, “ I'm not as young as I used to be, Deputy Lone.”
Sheriff Silver Star and Deputy Lone Star, no relation, were packing their belongings for a long trip ahead. A gang of criminals were on the run after robbing the local bank. They couldn't have gotten far, yet time was an enemy. Lone put her final belongings in her satchel as she waiting for Silver.
“Are ya ready, deputy?” Silver asked. He grabbed hold onto his shoulder in pain.
“Hey, Silver…why don’t you sit this one out. I got this one. “Lone offered, “It’ll give ya some time to rest.”
“Are ya insinuating that I need a rest? That ah’m old.”
“We both know you’re not young.” Lone stated, hitting Silver on the side.
Silver winced from the pain He thought, for a moment before settling on something.. “I could use a rest…alright, kid. Go get em.”
Lone nodded and began to run. She didn't get far before Silver called her name, “Kid, before you go. Take this.” Silver reach to his vest, took off the star symbolizing his power, and threw it to Lone, “They wont take you seriously unless you have that.”
“What are ya saying, old man?” Lone asked as she caught the star.
“It’s about time I retire…you came along way from the filly I found in my jail cell long ago. You deserve it.”
“Thanks, old man.” Lone pinned the star to her jacket, “I don’t know what to say…”
“Don’t say anything…GO catch those criminals before they get away or I’ll take the star back.”
“Will do, old man…will do.”
