It had been 100 years since Nightmare Moon was defeated, and Luna was starting to feel some pains in her head, she shrugged it off for a while, but they started to hurt, it seemed like her body had an urge for something, an urge for night.
~The Next Day
"Dearest Luna" Celestia said "You haven't been yourself lately, are you okay?"
"I'm fine" Luna says, holding her head.
"You don't seem well, go lay down, I'll come bring your favorite toast, the one shaped like moons." Celestia told her sister.
"Okay, I should be fine, my head just hurts." Luna said, but she knew it was more than that.
~A While Later
Celestia was thinking to herself A headache, that's how the transformation into Nightmare Moon began, but that couldn't be happening again, Could it?
"Princess?" Celestia's thought was cut short by Shining Armor coming to her.
"What, Shining Armor?" Celestia asked.
"It's about Luna, we think Nightmare Moon is back." The colt said.
~In Luna's room
"GET OFF OF ME YOU FIENDS! I NEED... NIGHT!" 'Luna' exclaimed, as she was held down by the Royal Guards.
"We can't Princess, you're too far gone" One of the guards said.
'Luna' breaks through the royal guards and heads straight to the Everfree Forest.
"She's stronger than ever, the Elements of Harmony will not be able to stop her. There is only one option. I have to become Solar Dream." Celestia said, but then she realized a problem. Solar Dream would bring endless sunlight. Eventually bringing so much heat that ponies would have heat strokes, and Solar Dream would kill Luna as well as Nightmare Moon.
The moon came up and sun went down. It was only 3 PM so everyone knew that something was going on.
~Several hours after the events of Chapter 1
A train rolls into Canterlot Station, a lone alicorn exits the train and walks towards Canterlot Castle.
~At Canterlot Castle
"Princess Celestia! I came as soon as I saw the moon. Has Nightmare Moon somehow returned?" The alicorn asks.
"Yes Twilight, ever since your friends perished the Elements have had no ponies to connect to, causing the elements to shut down to a level so weak that it barely can keep the Element Tree alive. The Elements had to lose some of the things that they were holding back, allowing Nightmare Moon to return." Princess Celestia told Twilight.
"Well then, what is there to do?" Twilight asks concernedly.
"There is only two options. I would have to become Solar Dream, but that would cause endless day, it would make it hard for ponies to sleep, it would be extremely hot and crops would burn up eventually causing us to die of starvation. If I allowed endless night to happen, crops wouldn't grow at all, eventually causing us to die of starvation. It would seem there isn't any good solution." Celestia explained to Twilight.
"Wait, so no matter what all ponies will die except for you, Luna, Cadance, and myself?" Twilight asked Celestia.
"Actually Twilight, there is a third option, but you aren't going to like it."
