Load Full StoryNext Chapter

No matter where I go, no matter what I seem to do, Death always finds the ones that are closest to me. It just seems impossible to protect the ones I love, especially in this strange, alien world. I was on top of the world at one point, so to speak. But that was before the Getter Ray Bomb sent me to a place where I soon learned what it felt like to be beat down so badly, to have all that confidence and power ripped away from you by beings who were infinitely superior. If I could go back in time, if I could just have known what was coming, maybe, just maybe. . . Maybe I could have saved him.

      -ONE-

      -PART ONE-**

THE GETTER RAY BOMB

The sun rose high into the sky, bathing a mountainous valley painted with tall oak trees in a warm shade of orange as it's luminous blanket of light covered all. Located at the center of this sprawling natural paradise, there stood a man made structure, very much out of place in the lush fauna. Even more so out of place, were the bulky, heavily armored automatons that patrolled around the outside, keeping a vigilant watch over all within the mountain ring. Deep inside this research facility, was a dimly lit hangar, it's only source of illumination being the many monitors and flickering lights of the technology that vastly over populated the sombresome landing and maintenance bay. Far on the other end of the facility's room, erected a circular structure with multiple rings of platforms, all raising higher and higher, nearly reaching the roof.

A large silhouette stood tall within these circular maintenance platforms, the dim light of the tech around it only shedding a tiny amount of light on it. It's bright red armor was mixed with the flickering lights, giving only some visibility of the titanic robot's full form. Many a worker and scientist alike, all various species of animals, rushed around almost frantically, preforming maintenance checks and fortifying it's already seemingly tough armor.

"Alright, everything seems to be functioning at it's maximum capacity."

The gruff voice of an old, bearded Bear spoke with a monotonous tone. His comb over of grey toned hair fell neatly upon his rather large head, and though not an image of fitness, he moved about with surprising speed, leaning over numerous fellow scientist and surveying monitor after monitor. Inside of the towering mecha, a young canine figure sat comfortably in what seemed to be a cockpit of some sort. Sitting in the pilot's seat, surrounded by various levers and buttons, was a rather young fox, his unkempt black mane of hair falling messily past his shoulders. Pushing up the sky-blue V-shaped shades onto the bridge of his grey snout, he replied to the raspy voice speaking to him.

"Alright Professor Leon, let's start this party already!"

His voice was shrill and firm, with an air of arrogance about it as he grabbed a hold of the main control levers tightly.

"Don't be so hasty, Gou!"

The voice of the aged bear chided through the comm, causing the boy to jolt and cringe.

"This Getter Robo is still only a prototype! With only two pilot seats, it's maximum energy output will be somewhat deducted!"

This statement caused the young fox to sneer, his finely trimmed chin hair contorting as the irritated expression painted his maw.

"It's not the amount of Getter Energy, nor the amount of Pilots! It's the amount of spirit you put into it, and your faith in the Getter Rays!" He stated matter of factly.

"Isn't that right, Jin?" He asked a seemingly unseen pilot over his comm.

"You know it, Gou!" Inside the second cockpit within the Getter Robo,  sat a much younger fox, almost identical in appearance to his brother. His hair only fell to his shoulders, and he lacked any facial hair unlike his elder brother. His voice hinted a tone of youth, though almost the same as his sibling's.

The pair's blue Gi's slowly expanded and contracted with their excited breaths, eager to take their newly manufactured Proto Getter out for a spin. Now, one who had seen a Getter Robo before would say this one and the original model bare no differences, but like the old bear, Professor Leon stated, it's power output was much less than it's predecessor, and unlike the standard of Three Seated Getters, this one had only two. Speaking of the Elder, he chuckled silently to himself at the brother's combined confidence.

"You boys have never disappointing me, and I have the utmost faith that this mission will result in success, as have all your others." He spoke kindly, touching both the brother's hearts as they smiled at Leon through their monitors.

"Come back safely, Tetsu Twins! We'll celebrate over some Sake!" He regarded happily with a hearty laugh. Both the Tetsu Brothers nodded simultaneously, before the Getter Energy loading was complete, and their titanic fighting machine sparked to life in a brilliant green flash. A large bay door opened overhead, bathing the Getter Robo in bright sunlight. It nearly sparkled in the beauteous luminescence as it began to move, shaking it's self from the still state that had previously enveloped it. As if on que, only personifying the connection between the twins, they shouted a command to the Getter in perfect Unison.

"GETTER WING!" In response, an elegant red cape quickly dropped from it's back. The Twins took control the Getter, making it crouch down in preparation for flight. In launched almost violently off the cold steel platform it stood on, shaking the entire lab right down to it's foundation. Many a scientist stumbled about from the small quake, some landing flat on their rumps or face first into the cold steel floor. The mecha rocketed through the bay doors, gliding gracefully into the sky above.

Professor Leon's laboratory shrank in the distance behind them, until it was but a dot in the lush green landscape that the Tetsu Brothers were leaving behind. Jin focused the monitor's view back upon the Lab that they had seemingly abandoned. He felt a bit strange, and for what reason, he didn't know. All their other missions had gone flawlessly, almost perfectly because of their skill and prowess when piloting their Getter. But now, not only were they piloting their newly fashioned Double Seated Getter, they were to face a yet unseen foe. Their mission, was to halt a sudden resistance movement. This, however, was no normal faction. Lead by the previous scientist to excel in Getter Ray research, Dr. Saotome, nearly an endless army of Getter Robo G's were at his disposal. They were also to retrieve a piece of cargo in the favor of an allied Getter Ray Research facility. What the package was, Dr. Leon refused to tell. This only unnerved Jin even more as his thoughts reveled in uncertainty.

"Hey Jin, do you think Old Man Leon will actually hold up on that promise of Sake, or do you think the senile old bastard will drink it all before we get back, like he always does?" He laughed loudly. This raked his younger brother's mind from his dark thoughts, making him laugh as well.

"Well, we'd better hurry and get back before he can! I may be under age, but forget that! I'm a damn soldier! I think we both deserve a little down time!" He chuckled in reply.

"Damn right, kiddo! Let's pick up the pace, eh Getter?" Gou and Jin had always felt a deep connection with not only the Getter Rays, but the robots they powered. They spoke to them as if they possessed a mind of their own, and treated and cared for them like living beings. Though one would think this an odd habit, it seemed the Getter Rays favored this, and each of their missions had been completed without a hitch. The boys never took full credit for said missions, however. After each mission, one could always hear the boys giving numerous thanks to the Getter Rays for pulling them through in seemingly hopeless times.

"We're almost there, Gou! You ready for this?" Jin called out to his brother. Gou grinned confidently, gripping the controls for the Getter tightly as their machine reached it's destination.

"Ready as I'll ever be!" He replied. The boys ascended over a tall mountain range, getting the full view of the location of their objective. Not unlike their home base, here too was a lush green valley, surrounded with jungles and other various forms of vegetation. In it's center, however, was something that caused both of the Tetsu Twins to cringe in annoyance.

Shining in the bright light of the sun, were countless Getter Robo G's, the unpiloted army of automatons all turning their attention to the approaching Proto Getter.

"W-What the? There's nothing here!" Gou stated, seeing that the valley held nothing but the mechanized forces.

"It was a setup!" Jin shouted. The Getter Robo G's all crouched before rocketing into the sky, blotting it out in a cloud of steel red.

"Forget this! We need to get back to the lab and tell the Professor that this was a trap!" Gou shouted, thrusting the levers to his side as the Getter Robo turned in response. Much to the boys's dismay, an equal sized force of Getter G's had amassed, all careening at them as well. Gou cursed loudly, gripping the controls tightly.

"Looks like there's no way out of this, little bro. We've got no choice but to take these guys on!" Jin gulped nervously. Though he was as courageous as the next guy, taking on this absurd amount of enemies, and not to mention a superior model of Getters, was a bit much for him. Without Jin's consent, Gou thrust the control levers forward, throwing their machine into the crimson swarm approaching them. On their own Getter's arms, the boys had very sharp blades at their disposal. The Getter Robo threw it's arms out in front of it, and began plowing through countless foes, cutting deeply into their armor or slicing them in half completely.

The few felled Getter G's all erupted with bright explosions, altogether creating a cloud of smoke and fire that engulfed the entire swarm. The boys and their automaton came out unharmed on the other side, completely unharmed. Gou let out a triumphant cackle at the expense of his former enemies.

"Reduced Power Output my ass! Looks like I was right- no matter the machine, The Getter Rays will always have our backs!" He turned the Getter around to survey the the mushroom cloud he had brought about. A quick yelp from Jin pulled his attention away.

"It's not over yet, bro! More are on the way!" The young fox shouted, throwing the images of even more Getter G's onto his brother's monitor. Gou sneered arrogantly, and made a quick decision.

"Jin, I'll let you handle these guys! Let's change it up!" This caused Jin to give his assumed insane elder brother a look of pure denial.

"Are you SERIOUS?"

"No time for talk, Jin! Let's do this! OPEN GETTER!" Again, Gou acted with surprising speed, and their Getter split into three separate ships. The Getter Robo by it's self was quick, but these ships could easily out fly anything that opposed them. Jin sighed, recovering from the quick scare.

"Alright Gou! Together now!" The younger called out. The twins grabbed a hold of the controls, and simultaneously shouted a command to their machine.

"CHANGE GETTER TWO!"

The three ships responded, flying in perfect unison before combining together in a certain order. From the combination, arms and legs jutted out, and a completely new Getter was born. Baring little resemblance to the first form, this one was protected by hefty white torso plating, it's yellow eyes staring ominously from it's cone shaped head as it appeared. Though it's crimson legs weren't as heavily armored, they boasted back breaking speed, and was equipped with not only a powerful clamp arm, but a drill on it's right as well. The multicolored machine became a blur as Jin took control. It sped off towards the cloud, thrusting it's drill arm forward.

Countless Getter G's were drilled all the way through, so much that some were even impaled one after the other until the drill broke their battered metallic frames into pieces. Jin only built up speed, dashing around violently and leveling Getter after Getter. The boys both smiled triumphantly as an even bigger explosion encased the army of Getter G's.

"Damn, that was one for the books, kid!" Gou praised through the intercom. Jin giggled bashfully, scratching the back of his head in modesty.

"Wuh-oh! We're not done yet kid! Move to the side!" The sudden shout of his brother caused Jin to automatically thrust the controls sideways in response, avoiding nearly an entire armada of Getter Ligers careening by with their own drill arms held forward. Gou sighed in relief, and grabbed the controls as the Getter Ligers moved around for another attack.

"Alright Jin, I'll handle this! Let's change up!" He commanded. His younger brother nodded, inputting the commands. "OPEN GETTER!" The shout of Gou caused the systems to react just quickly enough to split the ships back into three once more, narrowly avoiding yet another drill barrage. The three ships careened down to the ground and the two boys shouted one last command.

"CHANGE GETTER THREE!!" Once again, the Get Machines all flawlessly slammed into one another, and Getter Three soon stood on it's tank like treads far below. Though not as fast or agile as the previous two, this one was equipped to battle with pure physical prowess. It's bright blue optics looked to the sky through it's golden box-shaped head, placed in between two shoulder missiles. It's thick, lengthy arms were topped with two heavily armored fists, which Gou thrust to the sky.

"Alright Jin! Let's honor Musashi and take one out of his old playbook, Eh?" He inquired.

Jin reveled on the thought. Musashi Tomoe, a true warrior, and one of the main three pilots of the original Getter Robo. He fought with the hands of the same Getter Three, and went out in a blaze of glory whilst fighting the long gone Reptilian Empire. Jin knew exactly what move his brother had in mind, and a feeling of melancholic fury gripped his heart. He tightly grabbed the controls along side of his brother, and the two shouted the very same words that the heroic Musashi had once bellowed.

"GREAT AVALANCHE!"

The lengthy arms of Getter Three rocketed from it's sides, snaking upwards at the cloud of the approaching Liger Getters. Moving with such speed, it was powerful enough to generate an artificial tornado with amazing strength. The Getter Ligers all slammed into one another, along with the spiraling arms of Getter Three. They all either shattered into bits or were torn apart by the unstoppable force, and the defeated machines, in various chunks, all fell to the ground with brilliant detonations. The sky was soon clear, with no other Getter G's in sight.

"YAHOOOOO! WE DID IT, JIN!" Gou cried triumphantly, making the Getter jolt a fisted elbow down to personify their success.

"Hah, wait 'till we tell the Professor how amazing this thing is! Looks like the Getter Rays had our backs through this one, eh Jin?" Gou looked to his brother when he heard no response.

"J-Jin? You alright in there little buddy?" He flicked the communication screen on, and saw that his brother had taken on a horrified expression, pointing towards the front of their Getter.

"W-what the hell is THAT thing!?" Jin finally shouted in fear.

Sprinting towards them on all fours, was a monster straight out of a nightmare. It seemed to be made of mixed species of animals, all contorting together to create a truly grotesque creature. It was vastly bigger than the Getter Robo, unnerving the boys as they stood frozen in fear. It let out a wild howl as it pounced out of it's sprint, the boys only reacting with a fraction of a second left before impact. Getter Three raised it's arms, the two opponents sliding back many feet before skidding to a halt. The creature's maw snapped hungrily at them, it's multiple misplaced eyes rolling around in it's grossly misshapen head.

"A-An Invader!? What they hell is it doing here!? I thought they were all destroyed in the Moon Wars!" Jin cried out, putting his own force into the defense as they tried desperately to keep it from chomping the machine's head clean off. Gou spat to his side, cursing as he did so.

"Looks like some of these creeps slithered away! We'll just have to kill this one too!" He stated.

"OPEN GETTER!"

The machines split apart as the Invader flopped into the ground. It stood quickly, letting out a rage filled roar as a grip of tentacles fired from it's back. It effortlessly grabbed the three ships, slamming them into the ground in a heap as earth and fauna were tossed in all directions. The boys cried out in pain as they were slammed deep into their seats, flopping around for a few seconds before coming to a stop.

"C'mon Jin! We've gotta get our Get Machines going, or that thing's gonna rip us apart!" Both of the boys frantically began shaking all the controls about, pushing all the buttons they could as the Invader slowly plodded towards them.

"No No NO!" Gou shouted frustratedly.

"I ain't gonna die like this! No way!" Though he refused to face death, his tone hinted at how scared the fox truly was, as his younger mirrored his attitude.

The Invader now loomed over the two, lifting it's disgustingly mutated paw high into the air, readying to slam it down upon the two, like a foot crushing a tiny bug. The two boys squeezed their eyes shut, cringing in fear as they waited for death to come. They waited, for nearly a minute, and nothing happened. They felt no pain, there wasn't even any noise. They opened their eyes in unison, and were surprised to see the Invader had stopped, just inches from their Get Machines. It's gaze was focused on the sky, for some strange reason, it's face painted with an expression of pure terror. It turned tail and ran, whimpering as it fled from the scene.

Both Gou and Jin now wore extremely confused expressions, each looking at each other through their screens. They both had no idea what had happened, but were none the less elated to have evaded an untimely demise. Gou turned his attention to what had made the Invader turn tail and run away so frantically, and was nearly tempted to do the same when he saw the Invader's fear.

"Okay, just what the Hell is THAT!?" Jin shouted in mixed confusion and fright.

Towering over the mountains, and dangerously near the boys, an even larger creature had appeared. Rather than baring the black goopish standard of the Invader, this one bore a rustic color, and seemed to be made up of multiple machines. Gou gulped out loud. He knew exactly what this was. Professor Leon had kept this secret from Jin, knowing that if he revealed to them the true nature of their mission, Jin would have immediately refused. Gou could barely speak, as he uttered the name of their sinister objective.

"G-Getter Dragon. . ."

This metallic behemoth uttered a guttural growl, shaking up the earth and turning it's attention to the sky, as the invader did. Though the sudden appearance of the Getter Dragon would have marked the certain end for the young twins, fate would not have their lives yet.

"Gou! Look!" Jin called out, throwing the display of a distant Arial object onto his brother's visuals.

"You've gotta' be frikkin' kiddin' me!" The older sibling sighed. The image of a heavily armed bomb was generated onto the screen of the brothers. It fell with amazing speed, and much to the twin's despair, it's target was the Getter Dragon. They knew the Getter Dragon would be destroyed, but they were well within the blast radius.

This was it. After all they'd been through together in their short lives, the Tetsu Twins would finally meet their match. Gou, though being the hard headed one, decided to do one last thing before the bomb reached them.

"Hey, Jin. Let's get out of these Get Machines, yeah?" Jin turned his attention back to the monitor, displaying the optimistically sorrowful face of his elder sibling. Just from that look, Jin knew that Gou had accepted that there was no possible way for them to get out of this predicament. Their Get Machines were disabled, broken beyond repair, and no hope of escape would find them. Jin sadly nodded, a smile hiding his despair as he pulled the emergency release on the Get Machine's cockpit.

Both of the twins met eachother outside, standing atop Gou's Getter Eagle. They both embraced affectionately, not letting go of one another as the missile approached, giving them only a couple of minutes left with each other. The both gripped each other's shoulder's tightly as tears welled in their eyes. They both smiled at one another, ignoring the fact that they both would soon be long gone.

"Jin. My brother. My fuzzy lil' bro. I wouldn't rather have piloted the Getter with any other guy. Even if it was Ryoma, Hayato or Musashi. I don't care. You and I bro, we changed the world together." Jin nodded, wiping the tears from his eyes.

"This isn't the end, Gou. We'll always be together, standing against whatever this crazy universe has to dish out. You and me, we're gonna' move on and change the universe. Forget this world, we don't need it." The little fox gingerly replied, pulling his older brother back into one final hug. As it turned out, this bomb was a Getter Ray powered missile. The florescent green eruption just above the surface clued the boys onto this.

"Crazy ol' bastards just don't know when to quit with their Getter Ray weapons, do they?" The older sibling sighed as he and his brother turned their attention to the incoming wall of Getter Rays. They both nonchalantly placed their hands in their pockets, as the approaching force began throwing their hair and tails around vigorously. They watched as the explosion spread from nearly a good several miles away, then three, then one. In the last few feet, the brothers refused to close their eyes at the bright light.

"So, Getter Rays. Is this what you had planned for us all along?" Yet again, the twins spoke in unison as the Getter Rays absorbed them, and everything far beyond. All sound left them, and everything went black.

**-PART TWO-

EQUESTRIA**

Jin's mind sluggishly flickered into activity. Though he could not see, hear,or even feel, he was conscious. His immediate thoughts were that this was the afterlife, and he was to drift in darkness forever. Quite fitting, seeing as how he and his brother weren't exactly Saints over the course of their lives. However, Jin's body soon sparked to life, and he could feel it. The insides of his eyelids glowed with a bright green light, intense enough to wake him from his vegetated state. Like an infant learning to move for the first time, Jin's eyelids slowly responded to his neural command, and took their time twitching and jittering before slowly lifting open. Jin was greeted with the image of a Neon Green void, nothing in sight but the nearly blinding light.

"W-What the. . .? What is this place?" Jin found it difficult to even talk, his voice raspy and cracking with every word. His body hovered in place in this strange plane of existence, and he soon was able to slowly but surely begin moving his own body again. His vision darted this way and that, before moving his entire head around to survey the void.

"G-Getter Robo!" He suddenly yelped. Looming behind him, also seeming to be caught in the ominous void, was the Proto Getter, staring ahead lifelessly as it's body haphazardly hovered in place. As expected of a Tetsu Twin, Jin greeted it like an old friend.

"I don't suppose you have any idea where we are, eh Getter?" He inquired, a palpable sense of friendship between the two apparent as the lifeless machine feigned to respond.

"And where's Gou?" The young on whispered to himself. The audible noise  of stirring machine caught his attention, as to Jin's surprise, the Getter's arm lifted. It slowly hefted a finger, pointing towards the edge of the void, seeming to have been given life by some unknown force.

"G-Getter! You're!-" The surprised little fox exclaimed. The Getter's attention none the less stayed riveted to what it had been pointing to, and Jin soon turned to see it.

"What's that light?" Jin squinted as he pondered, focusing on what seemed to be a magenta-hued eight pointed star, sparkling brightly at the other end of the void. Jin turned his attention back to the Getter, and the titanic machine returned it's gaze.

"Well Getter, you've let me make all the decisions up until this point. What do you think we should do now?" Jin spoke. In response, the mouth piece of the Getter Robo opened up, revealing the pilot's seat as it silently gestured for Jin to climb inside. Jin gave a tentative smile before using his own force to float him over to the Getter. Taking a seat inside, the cockpit seemed almost foreign to him, as if it had been decades since the little fox had piloted this machine. He brushed his long black hair aside from his muzzle, and forcefully gripped the control levers.

"Alright Getter, I don't know about you, but it feels like forever since I've used you. Don't slow down, alright? We've gotta find Gou, but first things first! Let's get out of here!" The youthful canine thrust the controls forward, shouting a command to the Getter.

"GETTER WING!" Responding instantly, the Getter's vibrant red cape shot out of it's back, and began careening forward, only building speed as it approached the light.

"Woah! Getter! You're probably already feeling it, but I just noticed! Our Getter Energy readings are off the charts! Is as if this entire void is made of. . ." A light bulb flickered on in Jin's mind, as he now knew exactly what this void was.

"Getter, open up your core! Quick!" He barked frantically. The Getter's chest plate slid apart in various places, revealing the glowing Getter Reactor.

"Let's siphon all these Getter Rays up! I don't know where this place will take us, but more Getter Energy is always a good move!" As if on que, the Reactor acted as a vacuum, sucking up all the energy around them, leaving blotches of a depressing grey shade where the vibrant green had once painted the plane. As a repercussion of all this energy, the Getter's speed began increasing, until poor Jin could only hang on for dear life as he was forced down into his seat.

"G-Getter! Slow down! YOU'RE GOING TOO FAST!" As if the crushing G-Force wasn't adding enough to the problem, the magenta star began to become so bright, it nearly blinded Jin as he squeezed his eyes shut. He wanted to scream in pain, but the speed of his machine was so intense that it was forcing the air out of his lungs. Before the fox was crushed to death, the light absorbed the boy and his Getter, taking them far away, and leaving the now dark grey void far behind them. Once more, the unconscious fox came to, his blurry vision adjusting to the new scenery surrounding him. He gripped his head in pain, the pounding almost too much for him to bare.

"Auugh. . .my frikkin' dome. . ." He wheezed. "Just where the Hell am I now?" He whispered to himself, surveying the new terrain. A tall forest of trees towered high above him, all bathed in the warm light of the sun far over head. He seemed to have lost the Getter Robo, much to his dismay. He groggily stood, nearly falling back down a few times before he finally regained his balance. If he and the Getter had been sent to the same place, he was hoping maybe it'd be close by.

Jin took a step, and noticed a mechanical wurr along with a heavy metallic thump as his foot connected with the ground. He stopped dead in his tracks, slowly looking down to see what had made his leg sound off in such a way. Jin let out a surprised yelp as he took a step back, noticing that Getter One's leg had replaced his own. Fearfully looking himself over, he found that not only had his leg been fused, but his entire body was encased in a compacted Getter Robo.

"Well. . .This is new." The young one stated, studying himself more thoroughly.

"Looks like you get to see the world through my eyes, ol' buddy." He sighed. "But where are we now? I don't recognize this place at all. . .Are we back on Earth?" Answering his blatant question, a blinding light shined just out of his peripherals, even brighter than the sun high in the sky.Quickly turning his attention to where it came from, he found that again, it was that strange light in the shape of an eight pointed magenta star. It had been the governing force that had guided him to this place, so Jin surmised finding it's source would be the only sensible thing to do. The boy crouched himself down, preparing to take to the sky.

"GETTER WING!" He called, causing his Getter Armor to once again sprout it's crimson flight module. The machine and it's pilot gracefully lifted just above the tree tops, and advanced towards the origin of the light's location. Over the tree tops, illuminated by the bright light of day, towered a massive castle, it's stone walls and historic design making it appear primitive to the approaching Getter Robo. Jin was hoping that maybe, just maybe, the light would answer all the questions he had swimming in his mind, and hopefully he would be re-united with his brother .However, deep within the aged structure, something entirely worse awaited him.

Two figures stood positioned on opposite sides of a very large throne room, elegantly decorated with tall statues depicting equine-like figures that watched over the dim torch lit chamber. Opposite to the large double doors that headed the chamber, a set of banners hung over two thrones, one gold, one blue, matching with the hue of the elegantly decorated seats. Standing under these with a posture of combined power and fury, garbed in a black astronomically decorated dress, was an Alicorn. Unlike her subjects, her star spangled, florescent blue hair flowed by it's self, not influenced by the lack of wind in the slightest. She bore a metallic blue coat, almost appearing black in the dark throne room. Her hefty breasts bulged out in front of her as she puffed her chest out, placing her hands upon her wide hips. Her cyan colored eyes glared with anger towards the other side of the room, where the other figure stood.

The difference between these two were like night and day. Unlike the other Alicorn's steel blue coat, this one's was pastel white, hinting at a light shade of whitish pink as it glowed in the faint torch light. As if the rainbow had been weaved into a beautiful mane of hair, this one's also flowed with the same independence. This one was at least a foot or two taller, boasting wider curves than her opposite. Her vigilant   pink irises squinted with a half eyed frown across the room, her posture being calm and collected, though more than prepared for any sort of confrontation. Her own white garbs hugged her form perfectly, falling around her legs as she stood still, like a warrior before a perilous battle.

"Did you really expect me to sit idly by while they all basked in your "precious light"?"  She growled, waving a chiding hand about in the air in front of her. Her opposer stood still and silent, her gaze mirroring that of her own.

"There can only be ONE Princess in Equestria!" She raised her voice, striding over to the middle of the thrones.

"And that Princess- WILL BE ME!!", Her bellow could be heard far and wide, and unbeknownst to the two of them, an eavesdropping interloper. From behind this wrathful equine, a dark shadow crept up the wall, splintering it with cracks that began jutting their way to a large stained glass mural above. It violently shattered, the shards dispatching in multiple directions. The radiant beams of sunlight pierced through, though only for mere seconds.

The vile antagonist's horn shimmered with energy as she slowly lifted into the air, raising her arms high above her head. In response, the moon rose high into the sky, completely eclipsing the sun and blotting out all light from the land. Instantly after, beams of what seemed to be pure darkness poured back from the sun, swirling around the wicked foe before encasing her in a tenebrous ball. It soon shined with a red aura of pure malice, then quickly changing to a shade of deep blue, mirroring her once stunning mane.

Bursting out from this ball after a moment, the black silhouette of a much bigger, and much more redoubtable Alicorn appeared, the blue sphere blanketing out quickly to form her now seemingly endless mane, and even longer tail. The delineation of the  creature faded into color, it's now demonically decorated helm and matching armor appearing over it's pitch black coat. It opened it's mouth and cackled criminally, it's teeth growing razor sharp as it spat it's chortles at her now unnerved antagonizer. She careened to the ground, her now powerfully equipped hooves crushing the floor beneath her.

Her mane swirled about like a sentient tornado, accentuating her evil appearance. She placed her hands on her hips with a glare that would make a grown giant run in fear. Still, her combatant stood her ground, her calm composure ringing true as she eyed her with the same expression. Seeing that she was not the least bit swayed, the dark Alicorn fired a beam of unrivaled magical energy, destructively wrenching it across the room. Countless statues and walls were destroyed, and falling rubble stirred up dust as it crashed deafeningly into the ground. The ominous equine strided through the settling dust, approaching her unswayed opponent.

The radiant Alicorn baring the rainbowed mane took flight, spreading her enormous wings as she lifted to the air within the large room. The other fired yet another beam, giving her foe only mere seconds to move before it impacted. Her beam instead connected with the ceiling, busting a large hole all the way through the heavy stone. The seemingly just Alicorn landed but a few feet away, not able to hold her concern in any longer as she spoke.

"Luna! I will not fight you! You must lower the moon! It is your DUTY!" Her tone expressed true despair, not for the thought of defeat, but of something much more intimate between the two.

Previously stated, the two were unaware of a nearby figure who watched in silence, his heavy armor masked in the shadows of the now snuffed torches. He had waited, studying the two with the intention of seeing which of them was in the right. He had now made his decision, and his hunch was correct. The white Alicorn was obviously trying to protect her home, not even attempting to strike her opponent out of peace. Even supporting his assumption more so, was her previous sentence. He stood, and prepared to leap into action.

"Luna"? I am Nightmare Moon!" The evil Alicorn stated, crossing her arms.

"I have but ONE Royal Duty now! TO DESTROY YOU!" Her horn charged up and shimmered with the pretense to yet another magical attack, yet this time, her beam would connect with something other than stone.
