War, a simple phrase that turns hearts over end. A phrase that means that there will be countless lives wasted, and blood spilt on both sides. Why? Why does war kill, why does war mean...war? War means families lose their loved ones, war means two sides or more fighting for a cause that seems to 'help' the winning side. Why are lives lost for those who take their greed to the other side for what? Is it for glory, honor, riches, or is it just so they can be feared so that none shall try to turn the balance of power? War is red, the color that has endless uses. Red means love, blood, roses, a peaceful sunset, a dirty blade, newly formed rust that forms on something old and is no longer seen as new, and red is a color.
War is nothing new to humans of Earth, and is hardly thought of to the ponies of Equestria. For the humans, war is everyday. They fight to survive in a hostile world full of danger around every corner. They fight their useless wars, wasting lives as if they were mere ants ready to step on. Iraq, Korea, Japan, Russia, the United States of America, and more of their super powered countries fight each other in endless conflict against their foes. War, to humans, and only humans is red, blood and dirty blades.
War is hardly thought of in Equestria as they live in a near utopian society. Growing food for one another, loving each other as if they were brother and sister, growing as one big body of harmony. Their heroes are those who've changed all of the lives for the better. War is a thousand years ago for them, war is never seen. Harmony between chaos, and order are kept. None cry when another dies naturally, but they do morn and celebrate the death of one of their own. They all had this one belief they all followed with glee, and it was that everything had it's end but that was okay. Because with every end there is a new beginning for all to see.
In war there is order, but not the order that balances out chaos. The order on earth is to carry out a task that which most would refuse to follow. Humans have their morals, so do those ponies in Equestria, but the human morals are different. Morals that made law unbreakable to those who refused to normally commit such actions that we can't live with.
My orders is to shoot to kill. The ponies are deadly. The earth ponies are the least of my worries, the unicorns have magic and it is best to have distance before confronting one, and the pegasi can fly their air advantage along with their speed will cause a greater problem. Earth is dying, we've used all of our resorces to build this portal.
"Commander!" I shout, as I suilute to him. "So far we've got six camps in the mountains alone."
He grunted. "Not enough..." He said. "When will we have more portals up? Did those nerds say?" He asked, pushing away a large hologram of one of the camps.
I shook my head quickly. "No sir, the 'nerds' say that we don't have any more funding. We need to work off the resorces we have now." I answered.
He looked angerly at me. "No more funding?" He asked, taking a sip of his coffee. "Dammit! I want you to show that those ponies are deadly, and that we need more supplies. Take your rifle, and bring me back heads."
"What if I can't find one?" I asked, unlocking my locker.
"Then don't come back without a head cadet!" He shouted, then took a deep breath. I could see the look in his eyes, he didn't want to yell. He just didn't like it when I failed, he was my father after all. "I-I'm sorry Vector... I'm just on edge. Those ponies killed two whole camps two weeks ago, and I want you to be a winner."
I pulled out my rifle, built to meet my standerds, and mine alone. With a two foot barrel, shoots four bullets with one pull of the drigger, and is a semi-automatic. Each clip holds eighty rounds of ammo, and I carry ten meeting my eight-hundred bullet load. I carry it around with my athame that has been passed down for over twenty generations. It's not really what you would expect out of a regular troop, but that wasn't what I was. I wasn't like the rest of the United World Army, or U.W.A.. I was actually the prince. My father said I wasn't built to be a king, so he gave me to a general that lost his son in the beginning of the war in 2032. It's 2040 now in a different war against the ponies of Equestria.
I'm actually only nineteen, and the general saw me as his son. He took care of me until I was drafted two years ago during the emergency draft. Even though I was the prince, I had to show to my real father that I was truely ment to be a king. That was my goal, and only my goal. To do what ever I needed to so that he would see that I'm no runt, that I am a soldier, a prince, and a future king. Deep down, I wanted to be better than my father, in anyway.
I nodded with a smile a Haykr. "No worries, I know that you think of my as if you were my father." I said lightly. "Do I have anything else I need to do?".
He shook his head. "No, now off you go."
I suiluted to him. "Permission to leave sir?" I asked.
He returned it. "Granted, kill some colorful ponies!" He smiled.
I laughed as I ran out. After I turned around a few corradoors, I walked into the portal room. I made the number three using my fingers, and the scientest in the room gave me a thumbs up, meaning that the portal was already set for camp three. It was located four miles out of a nearby town called Ponyville, and is the only camp that hasn't been found. It was covered in a dence layer of trees from a dark forest.
I stepped through, feeling the gravity get lighter, the blood in my head rushed in responce to the switch. I took a deep breath in, and pushed a button on the side of my helmet I had on. After a moment I felt slightly heavier, meaning that the suit's artifical gravity was activated. The blood rushed back down, and I felt a bit better. Because I was smaller than the rest of the U.W.A., I didn't have the effects as bad as the rest. Most vommit, even on rare occasons some even die. I was only 5'8'' with the others being around 6'5''.
I rushed over to my hover bike which was sitting in the repair shop for some upgrades. It was newly painted in red, and orange. I smiled with a whistle as I walked around it.
"You like?" Monkey, the engineer asked.
"Sure do. You know how to treat royalty right!" I replied. "How long did it take for the GPS to install?"
"Just two hours, and it's not called 'GPS' here Vector." He sighed. grabbing a small device. "Hold still...This'll only hurt for a second. It's like a pinch." He said as he tugged my arm. He placed the device on my arm, and I felt a sharp pain. I snapped back in responce, nearly shouting in pain.
"FUCK!" I yelled. "That didn't feel like a pinch."
"When you insert a GRD into an arm, it's not going to feel good."
" 'GRD'? " I asked.
"Golbel Radiar Device" If this place is still up when you return, your bike can find you if you just say the key word."
"What is it?"
"You're call there princy." Monkey said. "Just start the phrase as 'Command set' then say your word. And when ever you want your bike you say, 'Calling' then your key phrase." He explained.
"Command set, Monkey!" I shouted.
He looked at me weirdly. "Why me? Honestly, I'm flattered!" Monkey laughed.
"Figured you did a good job, you'd get something out of it." I said. "Alright now, I'm off!"
"Catch'ya on the flipside Vector." He said as I bolted off at seventy miles an hour.
It didn't take me long before I reached the edge of the forest. I landed my bike, and turned on the camoflague. I looked around to see if any thing saw me other than a couple of harmless bunnies. I shrugged, as I turned off my safty on my rifle.
"Time to let those ponies know what hit them." I said.
"Hello, Vector." My AI said. "You've got two targets sitting on a hill eight-hundred feet away."
"M'kay." I replied. "What are their class?"
"Scanners report that one is male-unicorn, the other is female-pegasus." She said. "New information found!"
"Report."
"Two smaller ponies have entered their area."
"Alright!" I said, locking my rounds into my rifle.
I jumped out into a clearing. From afar I could see four ponies talking to each other. I ran up to them, just as one saw me they all ran into a house nearby. I chased them to it, but the door was slammed into my face.
"Sir there is an object between you and your targets."
"I see that!" I shouted slamming the door down. I rushed in, pointing my gun everywhere, looking for the four ponies.
I walked into a larger room where a table was flipped, and a unicorn was standing infront of it. I aimed my gun at the unicorn, and a smaller one jumped out.
"I'll help you daddy!" It said.
My eyes opened wide. 'A family?' I asked myself. I dropped my rifle. "Fuck!" I shouted. "Are you married?" I asked.
"What's it to you!" It asked.
"Sir, you no longer have you rifle, and sensers dectet a massing group of energy in the two unicorns infront of you." AI said.
"Are you married!?" I asked again, this time I pointed my rifle back at him. "TELL ME!" I ordered.
"YES! NOW DIE!" He shouted as I was blasted through a wall.
I chrashed onto a soft object, eventually flipping it onto myself. I grunted in pain as it felt like the blast brike a couple of ribs.
"AI, do a health check!" I said.
"You have two broken ribs, and a broken shoulder."
I sighed, trying to reach my rifle. Just as I was about to grab it, a gray aura surrounded it, and it flew father away from me. The pony looked at me, anger in his eyes.
"You humans don't learn do you?" He asked.
"Then call me dumb." I said, as I fell uncontious.
I came too for a moment as I saw a winged, and horned pony. It was white, tall, and had a sun on it's flank. It looked at me, not with consern, but with confusion. It wasn't long before I passed out again.
Blue, a sad color, and also a happy one. Blue is the color that makes the sky, the oceans, and our blood without oxygen. Blue is a feeling of being sad, or depressed. Blue is what it is...blue.
I wake up, my chest felt a lot better. How long was I out, I didn't know, but when I opened my eyes, I saw two ponies talking.
"Congratulations on capturing a human alive this time Trick Pony." A lavender pony said with wings and a horn. "You can go now, I want to see if it's awake."
"Thank you princess!" The unicorn said, bowing.
'Princess?' I thought.
When the unicorn left the lavender pony princess opened the cage, I was in. I quickly sat up, and tried to reach for my athame. When I grabbed nothing but air, I realized they disarmed me. I sat back in realization with a sigh.
"Do you speak?" She asked softly.
I nodded, not wanting to talk.
"What is your name?" She asked. "If you have one."
I stared into her eyes angerly. I was honestly pissed. I lost my gun, oh my lovely gun, and my family athame. I didn't want to talk.
"Sir, the pony infront of you is establishing a mental link!"
"Stay out of my head!" I shouted.
"How?" She asked. "Can you read minds with magic?"
"No, I've got the best AI on earth, and Equestria!" I replied. "A prince deserves the best!"
The lavender pony stepped back in shock, her eyes opened wide as two large basket balls. I heard a clang, and looked at my leg. It seemed like there was a chain attached to my leg, but wasn't any more.
"What's your name?" She asked again.
"My name is Vector James Pryton. I'm the prince of earth." I said. "Why did you let me go? I know how to kill with my hands."
"We understand." The white pony said walking into the room she was a tall pegasus with a sun on her flank covered over with a cloud.
"Sir extreme surges of energy coming from the new pony."
"You are?" I asked.
"I'm the ambassador of the princesses." She replied. "Twilight, you may leave us be."
"Yes." The lavender princess walking off.
"And how come the big white pony with a horn and wings ain't here?" I asked.
"You saw her?" She asked. "I wasn't aware of this..."
"What's your name?" I asked. "I should at least know who captured me."
"We didn't capture you. Trick Pony did. We know your camp is outside of Ponyville in the Everfree forest. Our spy Zecora told us." She said. "My name anyways is Tia, and I would like to ask you why you didn't kill Trick and his son when you had the chance?"
I looked away from Tia, I wanted to tell the truth. "I missed..." I lied.
"There weren't any bullet holes, don't lie to me." She replied.
I sighed. "He had a family..." I said. "Two children, a wife, a life..."
"Countless humans have killed married ponies, how come you didn't?"
"What will you do if I answer you?" I ask. "Why do you ask me such a question? I don't even know why..." I curled up into a ball, sitting on a hard wood bench. "When will I leave?"
"Answer me!" She ordered, stopping her hoof onto the ground. "Out of all the humans, you must have a reason for your hesitation!"
"No...I can't answer a question that I don't know how to answer." I said. "I only asked that unicorn if he was married. He said 'yes' and...I dropped my rifle."
"And you dropped your weapon? That's it?!" She asked as a glowing light surrounded her. When the light was gone, there stood the large white horned pegasus with the sun on her flank. "Shining Armor!"
"Yes princess?!"
"I want to know where more camps are so we can get rid of those humans. I am ordering you to do what ever is possible to get such information from his human." She said. "I want him alive, we don't want to cause an even larger war."
"Princess, may I use the chamber of old?"
"This once you may. I'm off to discuss about the new prisoner to my sister."
The princess flashed away in a single moment. I thought that my troubles had ended. I didn't think my attitude helped either. I could of just said why, but I didn't know why I couldn't tell her. It wasn't like I didn't want to, I wanted to know why I didn't first. She did say the unicorn was named Trick.
I thought for a moment as the other unicorn in the room stood infront of me, thinking with his hoof to his chin. We both thought. Thinking, wondering, I didn't know what he was thinking, but that name for a room, 'old', it made me worry a bit.
"What is the room of the old?" I asked. "If I'm to be tortured, should I at least know what the device is held?"
"I'm not allowed to speak of what's inside, but I will tell you, yes you are going to be broken." He answered. "I'm allowing you to feel this moment."
"Of?" I ask.
"That pony was married, those ponies you didn't kill, they were a real family." He said with a smile. "I like you human, I'll go easy on you. Why you may ask? I'm a father too, and a softy at that. Honestly, I didn't think Celestia would've let actually let me torture you."
"I'm guessing you're a prince too?" I asked.
"King, not of this land, but another, more glorious empire. We've been living in a fully functional utopian society."
"Lucky you..." I said scarcastly.
"Haha, funny. Time to get going." He said as my chains unlocked on their own. "I'll let you walk as fast as you want. I'm in no rush."
"Thanks, I feel better already."
It wasn't long before we got there. The door was made of metal, wasn't sure what it was, and it didn't help when my AI shutdown when I got near it. I looked at the unicorn as he elected me up in the air with a strange sure flowing from his horn. Something was in his eye that changed his whole look over me. Because of a failure, it was my luck to be living.
The door opened, I nearly vomited at the incoming smell of old iron filled blood, and dead bodies. I walked in at Shining Armor's command as he nudged my back. The more I walked in the more I wanted to vomit. It was like standing in a slaughter house as I saw dead human bodies, a few dead ponies, all looked like they were only days old. Looking at the bodies I could solve the two dozen missing soldier reports right then and there. I wanted to see if by brother Shawn was in here.
I fell to the ground at the sight of him. Out of the little hope he'd been alive, there he was, dead, his body paler than a Irish guy in winter. "Shawn!!!" I screamed, nearly cried. I wasn't the one for crying.
When my mom died six years ago, I went to her funeral. There many people cried, I wasn't one. But this was my brother, he was twenty-three when I last saw him, and twenty-four just a week later, dead. My brother helped teach me how to fight. First fist to fist, then he taught me how to fence. He knew so much, and did equal.
The unicorn stared at me for a moment, confused for a moment then not, realizing I was related to the other red headed human in the room as the rest were black or brown haired. He sighed heavely as he lifted my body to a nearby machine.
"You won't die, can't let you." He grunted as he pulled a lever. A large device came from the ceiling. it looked like a large guillotine, and covered in smaller blades.
He trotted over to a note pad nearby, and a large feather floated to him. "I'm a stallion of my word, but I'm also a stallion of results. I want to know how this makes you feel." He said as if he were quoting a movie. He pulled it again then the little blades started to fly around me randomly on their own.
It wasn't long before I felt the blades glide sharply onto my skin as it cut my arms, and legs, swiftly destroying my armor. I couldn't hide the pain much longer after that. The blades cut my skin, making me bleed. I screamed, couldn't do anything else.
"Interesting...Oh do you need those fingers? That thumb looks useless." He said, and went to pull out a sword with his mouth. Slowly he walked up to me. Smiled. That's all he did was smile as I hung on the wall next to my dead brother. I saw his grab my right thumb.
"Well?" I asked him. "Are you going to cut it off?"
He put away his sword. "No, you screamed loud enough. My ears are still ringing." He answered. "Besides I haven't even asked you where those camps are."
"My father knows, he's the commander of the army." I said.
"Thought you were a prince?"
"I am, my real father left me for dead when he found out I was a runt."
Shining armor stood there in shock. His eyes showed me the only thing I had to see to know ponies had hearts. Pain, as if he felt it before, knowing what its like to be the smallest. He turned off the sworming blades, and walked over to the clip board.
"So, the Everfree forest, and the Dangerback Mountains?" He asked. "Don't need to answer, my sister showed me how to read minds."
"So that lavender horned pegasus is your sister?" I asked, ready to think of a plan to escape. The idea was to trick him into thinking that I set a device on her with her knowing. 'The device should activate in two hours.' I thought with an evil smile.
He shot back, looking at me. "What device!?" He asked.
"Is the lavender horned pegasus your sister?" I asked.
"Yes!" He answered in a yell. "Answer me!"
"It's a new micro-bomb. It attacks the host's brain, and destroys it in two minutes. Subjects experence extreme pain." I replied. "Your sister has it in her head right now, and I know the key phrase to stop it."
"How!"
"You care about her alot don't you?" I asked. "Make you a deal. You let me go, I shut down the device."
Worry in his face showed more than ever. He sighed heavily as I dropped to the ground. "What is it?" He asked.
"Calling Monkey!" I said. I waited for a moment. His expression on his face changed from worry to confusion.
"Calling...Monkey?" He asked.
I nodded. "Sir....ride...left." AI said, her voice sounded like stadic. "Yep, any ways. Good luck keeping your job. I think you'd make a better king anyways." I said jumping through the wall.
I landed on my bike as it hovered over to stop me from falling. 'Thank you Monkey!' I thought. I was glad the guy was my friend, but I had to now warn my camp of the in comming attack on our camp.
