Twilight Sparkle cries out upon opening her eyes and finding herself returned to her bedroom and out of the dream that she still tries to feel if it was a dream...or something more. As she sits up with slight panting heard from released from her lungs to her mouth, the lavender unicorn looks around and notices that it is still late at night and all is as it was the same as before. "Ugh...Twilight?" The little baby dragon moans from his little basket bed nearby. Obviously, the scream of his best friend awoken him as well, "What's with all...the screaming...?" As he opens his mouth to release a great yawn, Spike looks up at Twilight as she sits up and awaits for her to answer. "Sorry Spike...I just..." Twilight apologizes and is about to explain what happened, but has a feeling that not even Spike will understand nor believe what she encountered within her dreams; She may fear her little dragon will think she is crazy or something...so she decides to let it go and just brush it off as nothing more than a bad dream, "...never mind; It's nothing. Go back to sleep." "Fine by me..." Spike quickly agrees without a second thought and slumps back down into his bed and falls fast asleep once again. Even as much as the brilliant little mare wishes to discover and determine if the what she went through was real or not, it is late in the hour and she cannot find herself able to stay awake. Plus with the Gala coming up, staying up late over something that may have just been a dream base on the book she read earlier will be a waste of time. Reaching that conclusion, Twilight lays herself back down and goes to sleep...and hopes her next dream will be simple and explainable in the morning. **************************************** The morning of the day where the Grand Galloping Gala has finally arrived. Princess Celestia arises early to raise the sun, then allows her servants and party planners to finish preparations for the grand event to where many ponies, including her star students and friends, will attend and have one of the best nights ever once again. "Today will certainly night that nopony will forget," The great white alicorn states to her sister Luna, "...and I hope you will be able to attend too, little sister." "We will try, big sister. We will try..." The dark blue alicorn princess replies, promising nothing but will do her best, "But for now, I need my rest...so I am off to sleep." Celestia wishes her younger sister a good rest before the grand event tonight and watches her trot off to her bedroom to get some sleep. Afterwards, Celestia returns to assisting the planners by making the decisions of what should be used and those that can be put on hold until the next Gala. There is a lot of work to be done before tonight...and the Princess will see it through until the end. Elsewhere, down the mountain that holds the elegant and beautiful city of Canterlot, the sleepy citizens of the prosperous town of Ponyville arise from their beds to greet the warm day and begin anew with the daily chores and work that help keep everything running and growing. With everypony off to their jobs or to school, a certain orange coated mare trots her way on down to the Golden Oaks Library to pay a good friend a visit...as well as remind her of the time the gathering to prepare for the gala will take place. Arriving to the red wooden door with the candle symbol on it, the honest and hardworking earth pony named Applejack knocks and is about to call out when she hears a voice answer before she can even utter a word: "It's open!" Applejack shrugs and strolls on into the large tree and is very surprised...well not that surprised...to see Twilight Sparkle with her eyes deep within three books at once; She reads one paragraph after another and moves to the next book and so on. Back and forth the star pupil of the princess goes as she attempts to catch up on her studies with what time she has left, "Morning, whoever you are!" With a hearty chuckle as a response to what she sees, Applejack walks on over to her in hopes to pry her eyes from the many lines of words that seem to have her under a spell of sorts, "Uhh...mornin’ Twi. Glad ta see ya’ll up and about...in a matter of speakin'." Twilight gives a slight nod and allows herself to pull her attention away from the books that she has only reached a third of the way, "Oh sorry, Applejack. It's great to see you as well. I've been trying to catch up with my studies since I found myself occupied with another matter as of last night." "What matter would dat be, sugarcube?" The curious Applejack asks, wondering if there could be something to help her best friend with. "It's nothing important," Twilight reassures, "I have things under control for now...since the Gala is a long way away from now." Twilight turns her head back to the books and hopes she can restart soon." "Well, alright. Ah just came by ta let ya know dat Rarity is expectin' us ta gather at the Carousel Boutique 'round lunch time...so don't be late or ya might as well have ta sit through another lecture of hers." The thought of having to listen to the uptight and prissy mare talk away for hours on one "small" subject is enough to allow a small giggle to escape Applejack's mouth. Twilight feels the same as her honest best friend and giggles along with her. Afterwards, with much anxiousness to return to her studies before heading on over to Rarity's place, the lavender unicorn looks up at Applejack and smiles, "I promise I will not be late." “Alrighty den. Ah guess ah better be gettin’ on back to da farm. Need ta help Big Macintosh with harvestin’ some apples before da end of da day." Twilight smiles and understands that she is not the only pony that is in need to be getting back to something important before the Gala. With a light hug given to a friend who was honest and kind enough to visit her this morning, Twilight returns the kindness by walking with Applejack to the door to see her off, ”Okay. Thanks again for stopping-” Just as the two reach the open door to the outside of the library, a certain blue pegasus flies on through and crashes right into Twilight and Applejack, knocking them all down onto the floor and spilling many books all over the place...destroying all of Spike's hard work in tidying up. "Awwww...come on!" Spike complains upon seeing an even bigger mess than he started with. He knows he will have to clean it up...but only if Twilight helps this time. “What in Tarnation?!” Applejack expressing with much frustration as she lays on top of a dazed Twilight, while a clumsy rainbow maned mare on top of her, “What’s da big idea…comin’ in like dat, Rainbow Crash?!” "That's Rainbow DASH!" The pegasus with such speed that few others can match snaps back at Applejack as she flaps her wings and gets off of her two best friends, "And sorry about that. I came by to return the new issue of “Daring Do” that Twilight let me borrow.” She refers to the book that is now among the mess she caused with her crash. An annoyed Applejack gets up and helps Twilight back up, "Well, be dat as it may, ah hope yer plannin ta help Twilight and myself clean up dis here mess ya made." Rainbow Dash gives a small wave of her hoof and scoffs at the very thought of what Applejack is asking, "Of course I'm gonna help you guys. What kind of question is that to ask, Applejack? I mean, what kind of friend would abandon their friends when they are in need of my wicked fast skills and awesome moves?" Both Applejack and Twilight chuckle at Rainbow's habit of showing off and acting cool in times like there. Eventually, Applejack tips her brown hat and stops her loyal friend before she gets carried away, "Alright, we get da picture, Rainbow." Twilight agrees but is grateful that two of her five best friends are willing to help clean up the mess, “Thanks Rainbow Dash. I really appreciate this." "Anytime!" The loyal and tomboyish pegasus assures, and helps her friends get to work on cleaning up the pile of books and scattered papers all over the place; Hours worth of cleaning up has just shortened...all thanks to a little teamwork and friendship. ********************************* "Hey Twilight?" Rainbow turns to her friend after finishing cleaning up one area of the library, with only one book left without a place in mind to put it, "Where does this book go?" "Which one, Rainbow?" Twilight Sparkle questions as she turns around to see what book Rainbow is referring to, only to gasp when she sees that it is the worn journal that she worked so hard to restore and attempt to understand. As quick as she can, the lavender unicorn snatches the book from Rainbow's grasp with her magic, "Be Careful with that! It is really old!" Rainbow Dash is shocked by the sudden near panic attack Twilight just displayed, “Sheesh Twilight, I didn’t know. I was just asking where you wanted it!" Twilight immediately realizes that she did overreact a little over the silly little book that continues to be a bit of a burden to her and those around her...in a way, “I’m sorry. It’s just…I worked hard last night trying to repair what I could...” Twilight apologizes and explains what she has been through to fix this book. "Apology accepted, Twilight," Rainbow Dash replies with a smile, knowing that she cannot stay mad at her best friends...especially on the day of the Grand Galloping Gala. Twilight is appreciative of both Rainbow Dash for her loyalty to her friends, and Applejack for her honest and support. Together, they are able to finish cleaning up the library in only thirty minutes with so much extra time to spare. This allows both mares to leave Twilight to her studying while they can head back on out and resume the plans they have. "Well, A'll be seein' ya both later on!" Applejack gives her goodbyes to both Rainbow and Twilight, then gallops on out of the Library and back to the farm. "I guess I should get going too, Twilight," Rainbow suggests when there is nothing left to cleanup, "I have to practice my moves for when I meet the Wonderbolts at the Gala." "Alright. Good luck and thanks for everything," Twilight wishes her friend the best and allows her to head on out the door. Once Rainbow Dash is out the door, Twilight returns to the area where her pile of books to study are once more in place right where she left off. Even the small, worn journal is among the pile, and it continues to bring nothing but questions to the mind of the little unicorn...where the only answers she gets are that of her friends getting in the mix of it all. "Maybe Princess Celestia will know something of this...since it was in her library..." Twilight hypothesizes as she returns to her studying. *************************************** Later on that afternoon, the hour begins to draw closer to the start of the Grand Galloping Gala. Many ponies across Ponyville, Cloudsdale, Canterlot, and some as far as Las Pegasus are dressing up in their best dresses and suits in order to impress the Canterlot Elite and the Princess herself. With only a few hours for extra time to get ready, everypony does their best to prepare themselves and others for the biggest event in all of Equestria. While everypony seems to busy with their own plans of preparations, a certain lavender unicorn trots her way over to the Carousel Boutique, with her number one assistant riding upon her back while holding a certain book of spells that will come in handy for their ride over to Canterlot. After a brief stroll, Twilight Sparkle and Spike arrive at Rarity's place and walks on in, where they both hear the bell hanging above ring...informing the three ponies there already that they have arrived. The first to greet the two is none other that the hyperactive and fun loving pink pony known by everypony in Ponyville: Pinkie Pie. ”Hey Twilight! You ready for the Grand Galloping Gala because I know I am because it’s going to be so much fun! I wonder what I will do first? Maybe I’ll try some of the food or maybe get some party music going?! Oh, there is so much to do but I know all my friends will be there with me so it’ll be Fun Fun FUUUUUNNN!!” Twilight rolls her eyes and smiles at the chatty as well as bouncy pink mare that has such a love of sweets and good laughter, “Good to see you too, Pinkie Pie...and yes, I am looking forward to tonight's event as well." “Well, it's good to see you both have arrived on time...unlike some other ponies..." Rarity walks in to greet her friends, while sarcastically reminiscing on how Applejack and Rainbow Dash have yet to arrive. "Those two were suppose to be here half an hour ago..." "Oh don't worry, Rarity. I'm sure they are on their way here as we speak," Twilight reassures her best friend who has been generous enough to all herself and the rest of the Mane Six for allowing them to get ready for the Gala at her house...where all the dresses, accessories, and makeup can be found. "I do hope you are right, darling." Rarity says as she turns her gaze to Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, who were able to come in earlier than the scheduled time, "But all while we wait for those two ruffians, why don't we start with you, Flutterhsy?" The timid little pegasus with the lovely, long pink mane gives out a light gasp when she hears her name being called first, "Oh...me...? Oh...are you...sure?" "Absolutely, darling. You were the first to arrive, so you have the pleasure of trying out your redesigned dress." "Oh...well...okay," Fluttershy agrees to volunteer as the first to have Rarity prettier her up for the Gala. The little yellow pegasus walks along with Rarity and towards the changing room...when all of a sudden she is spooked when the sound of two ponies dashing on through the Boutique door in a hurry, "EEP!!" Rainbow Dash and Applejack appear and pant a little from all the galloping or flying in Rainbow's case. After catching their breath, Applejack speaks up, "Sorry fer scarin' ya, Fluttershy...and sorry fer bein late, Rarity. We had more apples dan we-" Rarity sighs but must feel the need to interrupt her friends before they go on when more important issues are in need of their attention, "Yes yes, Applejack...we can have all the time later to discuss that well thought out story...but since everypony is here and accounted for..." Rarity takes in a deep breath and then raises her voice, "Everypony into the dressing room, RIGHT NOW!!!" The five ponies jump at Rarity’s voice and respond by obeying her command. They all rush into the dressing room as fast as they can, to try on their remade dresses and prepare for the Gala...which officially begins in three hours from now. Once the five mares are gone, Spike is left alone with Rarity for the moment “Uh…what would you have of me, Lady Rarity?" Spike asks as he awaits for the most beautiful pony in all of the world, whom he has had a crush on ever since he moved to Ponyville, to say something to him. “Oh, for you my little Spikey-Wikey, your suit is right over there," Rarity informs as she points over at the black outfit resting on the chair, that she made personally for her little dragon friend, "Change as quickly as possible. It would be rather rude to keep a lady waiting,” She implies in her ladylike tone, while rubbing his head gently with her hoof. Spike blushes at the feel of her soft hoof praising his scaly head. With a proper bow, Spike responds like that of a gentlecolt and smiles “Anything for you, Lady Rarity.” Rarity appreciates his kindness and proper manners, and leaves him to change while she returns to the dressing room to join with up with her friends. Even with a few hours until the Gala, Rarity is determined to help her friends and herself look more elegant than the last time...and have a night that they will never forget. ******************************************* Around an hour later, the sun slowly begins to set over the horizon, and the hour of the Grand Galloping Gala is approaching fast. The dashing young dragon, where his brand new suit, awaits outside by a tree...with an apple that Applejack brought with her and a four mice who volunteered to come when Fluttershy asked them politely. As the little purple and green dragon awaits for the young mares to arrive, especially the beautiful Rarity, he has the piece of fruit and the little critters all stand in the perfect spot so that Twilight can cast the spell with ease; Not to mention that Rarity's cat Opal was placed in her tiny cage to avoid another incident like the previous Gala. “Wonder what is taking them so long? The Gala will be starting soon.” Spike asks himself when there is nothing left to do but wait for the lovely mares to come on out. Just then, The baby dragons hears the front door open and he turns around to see his six best friends all wearing their wonderful and glamorous Gala dresses. They are much like the last ones, but with a bit more sparkle to them each, "Wow! You six look...amazing!" “Thanks, Spike,” Twilight thanks her dear friend as she walks up to him, while wearing her star themed dress that shines as brightly as the stars out tonight in the sky. “Thank ye kindly, Spike,” Applejack replies while crossing her front legs to to show off her even better cowgirl themed dress that feel much more comfortable than the last. “Thanks!” the hyperactive Pinkie Pie squeals while admiring how sweet she looks with all the sweetness of the new candy bows and ribbons all tied upon her pink dress. Yeah, Thanks,” Rainbow Dash nods as she grins at the awesome and 20% cooler rainbow dress than the previous which she feels will impress the Wonderbolts gathered at the Gala tonight. “Thank you, Spike,” Fluttershy thanks in a kind soft voice, as she sees her cute little mice friends all ready to do their part to help get their beautiful and gentle mare and her friends to the Gala on time. “Thank you ever so much, Spike, and I must say, you look very dashing in your new suit,” The beautiful and glamorous Rarity compliments her little dragon friend as she steps forward in her glass slippers, while showing off her remastered Gala dress and the matching gems that create such an elegant sparkle as they shine. Spike feels so love struck by how beautiful Rarity looks on this very night; She is even more so than any other time the little dragon as seen her. Even as he feels his heart beat, his moment of admiring is interrupted when Twilight gently nudges him, "Oh...um...thank you Rarity." Twilight gives her little friend an smile of approval for remembering his manner, then aims her horn at the carriage while Spike lays the book out for her, with the spell that holds the key to their ride to Canterlot. Focusing hard and aiming it just right, Twilight Sparkle summons forth a spell that transforms the tiny apple into that of an apple carriage, and the little mice before mice-like horses. Their ride to the Gala is now before them. “Well, shall we be on our way, girls?” The others agree at one and allow Spike to open the carriage door to allow the mares of the hour inside. Once they are all in, Spike closes the door, jumps up in the front seat, and takes hold of the reigns. “Giddy-up," he cries to the mice-horses, who begin trotting their way down the road and towards Canterlot, pulling the carriage along with them. The Grand Galloping Gala awaits them. The GRand Galloping Gala awaits six very special little ponies who are looking forward to spending the as much time as possible with each other and have themselves the best night ever. *********************************** Far off in the uninhabited lands of the world beyond Equestria, where such rugged terrain and mountains that harbor no settlement for miles that the eye can see, lies the great Gates of Tartarus that are guarded by a giant three headed dog that is sworn to never allow any creatures passed him. Here in this place where so few every travel and return to tell the tale of what they have beheld by their own eyes, are where many wicked and terrifying monsters are imprisoned for their evil deeds committed over a spread of hundreds if not thousands of years. Passed the gates and further into the prison, there are a numerous cages scattered all over the place that are currently holding some of the most evil creatures the likes of which the world has never seen before…or has seen and wishes to never see again. But down the mild cells and few guards that watch over them, in the deepest chamber, there is one cell that is held together tightly with some of the strongest magic and chains ever created. This prisoner, who is one of the oldest ever imprisoned here, is one that all others have come to fear...for HE is the most dark and evil monster that which the likes of Tarturus even has come to fear. But thanks to the powerful chains that hold him inside, there is nothing to bring concern since he has not moved in so long nor spoken since he was first placed here. But suddenly, silence falls upon the hundreds of prisoners as they turn their gaze to the very cell holding the one they both fear and respect. After many lifetimes and ages...they can feel the very breath of the monster and hear the very mere shake of his fists as they clutch. The guards hear not a thing within the prison and move together to investigate. Once they notice where the prisoners are glancing, they grab their spears and move to the area...slow and steady. Once the cage of the monster is plain in their sights, their bodies shiver in terror...as the piercing black eyes of the dark demon open wide and glare at all that stands in front of him. The guards try to stand their ground, but the mere growl of the creature cause them to turn and run...proving they are but cowards in a situation that has no possibility of victory. The monster growls and yanks on the very chains that hold his arms. In no time at all and with a mighty roar, the bonds break and he continues to rip off all the magical metal that has held him in place for millennium. With his body now free, The dark demon's eyes glow with such brimming dark power...and he blasts the cage open with his regenerated power. Now nothing is left to stop him now...as he walks forward on his four hooves...towards the exit. As the very prison shakes with each step that the demon takes as he nears closer to freedom, the other prisoners of Tartarus bang on their cages while cheering for the one they call the Master of Darkness that will bring forth an everlasting era of evil upon the world. They can feel and see that nothing will stand in his way now. Upon hearing the loud noise from where he lays, the three heads called Cerberus rise up and stand ready to repel whatever it is that approaches them. But as they guard the only way out of Tartarus, the thundering hoofsteps and the smell of pure evil reaches the three noses of this now terrified guard dog; What comes is far more powerful than they can handle...so he flees as the monster arrives. As the gates stand unguarded, the shadowy demon stretches forth his one hand...and the gates fly open in a huge impact of dark power. Now...the very demon that was imprisoned for over four-thousand years...is now free and ready to begin to conquest to cover all the lands before him in Darkness. With eyes gazing into the vast distance across the world, the Master of Darkness has founded the most prosperous and powerful kingdom in all the world...and will soon make it the seat of his new empire. Now with his goal set and such unlimited power at his beckon call, the monster moves forward towards his destination...and speaks only one set of words that shakes the very ground that feels that of a monstrous earthquake of evil: “SOON…THE WORLD WILL TREMBLE…AT THE VERY MENTION…OF MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!!” MLP: The Light of Equestria Chapter 3 Ponies from all over Equestria are arriving at the glorious capital of Canterlot to attend the greatest social event hosted by Princess Celestia herself: The Grand Galloping Gala. There are many who have come from as far as Baltimare, Manehattan, and even the Crystal Empire. Wearing their finest suits and dresses, many are looking forward to this wondrous night that is sure to be the best night they can ever dream of. The carriages start to arrive one by one. Once they pull up to the entrance, the ponies within exit, make their way across the walkway, and into the city. After so many come and move on, the Apple Carriage pulled by the four mice-horses has at last been granted their turn as they come to a complete stop at the front. The little well dressed dragon releases the reigns and steps off the carriage. Coming to the side of the door, Spike opens it and takes a bow, “We have arrived.” The six little ponies in their fancy little dresses each step out of the carriage one at a time, until they are all standing side by side while glancing to the beauty that is the capital of their homeland, and the Gala that lies at the end of the carpet walkway. Together, they begin making their way down the pathway, while admiring the view of the city ablaze with lights, fireworks, and ponies from far and wide. “Well girls. Here we are, once again…ready to have the best night ever,” Twilight informs her friends while looking forward to spending the evening with her mentor, as well as her brother and sister who are bound to be here too. “Lets just hope it’ll go better than last time,” Rainbow Dash mentions and hopes she can show off her moves to the Wonderbolts without any interference from the other elite ponies. Applejack butts in and supports her athletic best friend, “Darn right it will. As long as we stick together, and try twice as hard than last time, nothin’ will go wrong.” "Oh, I completely agree with you there, Applejack,” Rarity agrees and hopes to spend some time with the Canterlot elite once more and enjoy such enriching conversations and trade secrets with crafting the finest clothing this city has yet to behold. Fluttershy feels the same way and hopes to have a chance to make some new animal friends this time around, “Oh yes...I...I agree as well.” “I agree too! Now let's get ourselves in there and PARTY! WHOOHOO!!” Pinkie Pie screams with glee as she hops on down the pathway towards the castle, and to all the sweet treats and music that she is anxious to enjoy and get into a real live ruckus of fun and well...more fun. As Pinkie moves on ahead, Twilight and all her friends walk together as they make their way into the Grand Galloping Gala, and have a second chance to having the Best Night Ever. ************************************* The Mane Six finally make it to the main hall, where they now see plenty of wonders to behold: Many high-class ponies from all over Equestria talking with one another; the tables are loaded with well-prepared h’orderves and other special treats; Last but not least, over in the Ballroom there are ponies dancing to the finest music, played by Canterlot’s finest musicians. After a brief moment of viewing all the possibilities before them, the six little ponies all agree that this Gala is much fancier exciting than the previous one. But, this also makes it hard for some of them to want to remain together as they planned; The calling of all the excitement and fun is too much to resist. Rainbow Dash feels like making her way to the V.I.P. area to have another chance at hanging out with the Wonderbolts; Applejack can already smell the fancy food from where she stands, and is anxious to grab a bite; Pinkie Pie on the other hoof, wants to get the “real” party started over in the Ballroom. Twilight eventually notices the look in their eyes and decides it be best to let them go, “Okay, girls. If we split up, lets all promise to meet back-” she is unable to finish, where as the three have already taken off. The remaining three giggle and start looking around, wondering where they should go. “Should I wander around the garden…or…should I stick with my friends…or should I…oh, it is so hard to decide…” the timid little yellow Pegasus asks herself while wondering what Twilight and Rarity want to do. “Well, I might as well go see if I can find Fancypants. It has been a long time since I last had a chance to speak with him and the other nobility. Care to join me Twilight? Fluttershy?” Rarity asks as she is ready to make her way to the Ballroom. “Oh…well…I guess I could,” Fluttershy agrees unsure but decides to go with her generous friend before moving off to the gardens. “Thanks Rarity, but if it’s all the same with you, I’d like to meet up with the Princess first,” Twilight informs politely as she looks off towards the ballroom where the Princess is no doubt meeting with some of the nobility. With that, the three mares walk together and towards the ballroom. Meanwhile, Spike enters after having finished parking the carriage. When he sees that his friends have already split up, he seems disappointed. But once he can smell the food over yonder, his frown turn into a smile, and rushes over to chow down. Once the hungry baby dragon arrives at the buffet, he licks his lips with his long tongue and does not even know where to start first; It is so hard to decide, but he gives a simple shrug and comes to the conclusion of trying everything at once...or one at a time depending on the size. Applejack arrives at the buffet and joins her little dragon friend as they enjoy the delicious food that even she has to admit is very superior, “Boy howdy, dese little fritters are mighty tasty.” “They sure are!” The baby dragon standing next to her agrees, stuffing his face the same as her. The hungry earth pony returns her attention to the buffet, enjoying the company of a friend as she eats. Applejack then begins to wonder if she can get the recipe for this food, “If ah try using apples in da mix, dey might sell. That would add greatly to da Family Business,” She ponders. **************************************** After a while of searching around in the Ballroom, Twilight Sparkle notices how busy this area has become. But despite having a hard time making it passed everpony in her make, the little unicorn's spirit rises when she finally spots the Princess sitting over in the dinning area, speaking with what seems to be some very important ponies. Twilight makes her way over as fast and careful as possible. Once she gets to the table, the fancy unicorn mare bows properly to her mentor, "Good evening, Princess Celestia." The Princess of the Sun hears the voice of her star student and turns to return the greeting, “Twilight. It is so good to see you again. I’m so happy you and your friends were able to come.” “As am I, your Highness," Twilight expresses while feeling that she will have some more time to spend with the alicorn princess that has taught her much in the arts of magic, "I..uh…hope I am not interrupting anything here?” She asks in a whisper when noticing some of the mares and stallions staring at her. “Not at all. I would be honored if you would join us.” the Princess replies and allows her student to sit right by her side as they resume the conversation with the elite. “Thank you, your majesty.” The faithful student appreciates her teacher's kindness and joins her at the table, and cannot wait to tell the Princess about recent events...including that of the journal she discovered as well as the strange dream. Elsewhere in the Gala, the rest of the Mane Six are continuing to have a wonderful time: Pinkie Pie spends her time stuffing herself with cake and other treats, then attempting to get some real party music going in the ballroom; Rarity eventually crosses paths with FancyPants and is grateful when he offers to have her join him at his table with his wife and all their friends; Fluttershy makes her way out into the garden, where she spreads birdseed around for the animals to eat. She is overcome with joy when they accept her kindness and see her as a friend they can trust. Rainbow Dash arrives at the V.I.P. area, where she is quickly recognized by a two of the Wonderbolts who see great potential in her: Spitfire, Captain of the Wonderbolts...and her Second-in-Command, Soarin. Once they see the tomboyish mare in the rainbow dress, they approach and greet her with a proper salute. “Hey Rainbow Dash. Glad to see you again,” the Captain of the Wonderbolts greets the expert flyer that has saved her on an occasion or two. “Thanks," Rainbow Dash appreciates the warm greeting by the ponies she has seen as her idols for so long, "I almost thought you guys wouldn’t remember me.” Soarin is surprised as well as shocked to hear his friend say such a think, “Why would you think that? I’ll never forget the pony who saved my pie last time," Rainbow recalls that event and blushes slightly, knowing how she first met Soarin when he dropped one of the pies Applejack made for the last Gala, "Thanks, Soarin." Spitfire jumps in and asks if their little, yet fast friend would like to join them at their table...where many other Wonderbolts are sitting, "We are about to discuss our upcoming performance in Cloudsdale. Wanna join in...with the conversation I mean?" Rainbow Dash gets all excited and feels like screaming like the fangirl she is, but remains calm and plays it cool, “Sounds cool. Sure, I‘ll join you guys!” "Great!" Both Soarin and Spitfire reply and walk on back to their table with the extra seat that will be reserved for their guest and friend Rainbow Dash. The thrilled pegasus releases a tiny squee and trots on over to join her Wonderbolt friends, but not before taking a small muffin from the table that was cooked by none other than her friend Derpy. Once she has her muffin and thanks the cross-eyed grey pegasus, Rainbow trots over to the VIP table and joins the fastest flyers in the worlds to discuss the upcoming events in Cloudsdale. ****************************** Back in the Ballroom where both Princess Celestia and Twilight sit with the rest of many rich and elite ponies of Canterlot, the lavender pony patiently awaits for her turn to speak with her teachers about recent events...which include that of what happened last night. Finally, after a waiting period of fifteen minutes or so, Princess Celestia concludes her conversation with the nobility and turns her attention to her faithful student, "Now that I am finished, is there anything you would like to discuss, Twilight Sparkle? How have your studies been going?" Twilight is thrilled to now have a chance to talk with the Princess, but once the question is asked, she feels a little ashamed, “Well…you see…I…” She looks up does not know how to explain herself, ”I was never able to finish last night. I was…distracted.” The Princess tilts her head a little and while she is slightly disappointed hearing that Twilight was unable to complete her latest lesson before the Gala, she is curious to know what turned her sights from her studying, “Distracted by what, exactly?” “Well…you see…I found this old book in the Royal Library…and…” "I assume you are referring to that little accident that occurred when you were browsing through the dusty shelves?” The Princess interrupts, referring to exactly what happened after finding out when the Bookkeeper told her everything. Twilight blushes nervously, feeling a little more ashamed for the mess she caused the other day, “I’m sorry about that.” Princess Celestia places her hood gently upon Twilight's shoulder, wishing to put her student's doubts and troubles to an end, “Twilight, you don't not feel sad or apologize. All that is really important is that you were not hurt.” Twilight feels a little better and appreciates the kind words of the great alicorn princess she is proud to learn all she can from her, “Thank you, your Highness.” Princess Celestia smiles and feels happy seeing her student's worries gone away like the many dangers Equestria has faced; Which was all thanks to her and all her friends, "You are welcome, my star student. Now...about this book you were telling me about…” "Oh yes, I brought it with me. Maybe you could tell me where it came from?” Twilight levitates the old journal up onto the table right before her mentor. Celestia thanks Twilight and opens the dusty old thing to see what secrets this little book may hold. Once she finishes, which takes only a minute or two, the Princess places the book back onto the table and shakes her head sadly, “I am sorry Twilight...but this is the first time I have seen this one myself. I also do not recognize anything it speaks of. In fact, I am not sure how it came to be in my library, since I myself have read every scroll and book there." Twilight feels a little saddened knowing the one pony in all of Equestria who has ruled for over a thousand years does not know of this one little book that probably tells of events older than even her, but realizes that more study is in order...and that makes it all the more interesting, "Oh...well...maybe after the Gala, you and I can find out it's origins?" "That sounds like a wonderful idea, Twilight Sparkle," Celestia agrees and looks forward to that, “But in the meantime, please focus on your studies. There is much more I wish to teach you, once your current lesson is finished." “I promise.” “That's my student," Princess Celestia praises her young pupil, then stands up, "Now, I need to check up on my sister. I know it is Princess Luna’s duty to watch over the night, but I will try to convince her to take a break to come and enjoy the Gala." Twilight understands and hopes to see the younger sister of Celestia soon before this night is over. She then watches her teacher excuse herself from the table and make her way to the outside of the palace where Luna is no doubt watching the skies from the tallest tower. But shorty before Celestia disappears from sight, Twilight sees two ponies entering the Ballroom which makes her all the more excited. She leaves the dining table and rushes over to greet her beloved brother and sister-in-law: Shining Armor and Cadence. ************************************* High up in the tallest tower overlooking much of Canterlot, Princess Luna gazes through her telescope...being ever watchful of the night. She occasionally turns her attention away from the skies and down towards the Gala where many ponies are having a good time. As much as she wishes to join them, she refuses to abandon her duties...even for a moment. Returning her sights to the vast sky littered with the stars and moon, Luna remains determined to ensure all is well. But while Luna continues gazing out into the distance, she suddenly spots a storm far off to the west. Although massive, it is still far away and will most likely not be an issue. “That is some storm brewing out there. Never seen anything like that..." Luna uses her power to gaze closer at the massive dark clouds that seem to be moving their way towards her, and now it begins to worry her. Suddenly, a massive bolt of lightning strikes out there and the flash causes her to see something there; Something dark and terrifying. A memory from long ago, one Luna could never remember until now, returns to her mind as she recalls the image she saw within the storm: A Monstrous creature with the blackest eyes, laughing in a dark voice that rings in her ears as if she knows it personally; She has heard it before, long ago… “Sister?! SISTER?!” A voice shouts, snapping Luna back to reality and causing her to break down into tears. It is Celestia, and she has arrived only to find her sister in pain, "Luna! What...what is wrong?" “I…I…saw…” The Princess of the Night can barely speak, for that which she wished she did not see at all has brought a terrifying chill to her body and more tears to her eyes. “Shhh…it’s okay, little sister. I’m here.” Celestia holds her precious sister close, trying her very best to calm her and show that she is hear for her little sister that she vowed to never lose again, “Tell me, what did you see?” Princess Luna feels a bit better in the embrace of her kind and caring older sister, but it is still not enough to remove that which she fears may do the same to Celestia and everypony else, “Something…is…coming. Something…evil.” She points her out towards the distance, where the same storm happens to be getting bigger...and closer. Princess Celestia looks into the telescope and in the direction Luna mentions and can see the storm coming...but it is unlike any storm she has seen in any of the years she has ruled Equestria. Whatever it really is, Celestia now knows that her sister speaks the truth: Something...is coming. MLP: The Light of Equestria Chapter 4 As the ponies attending the Grand Galloping Gala continue to enjoy the fine food, music, and company, Our little lavender unicorn excuses herself as she passes by every honored guest and Royal guard...in order to get to the one colt that she has cared for all her life: Her Big Brother Best Friend Forever, Shining Armor. Once she reaches him, Twilight Sparkle throws her front legs around his neck and hugs him close, "Shining! It's been so long! I've missed you so much!" “Twili. It’s so good to see you too.” The white stallion with the blue streak mane greets his precious little sister and returns her loving hug with one of his own. “I missed you too.” The beautiful pink princess of the Crystal Empire mentions as she walks up to the little unicorn she is proud to call her sister. She gives Twilight a warm smile as she releases her brother and does the famous little dance they shared when Cadence foalsitted her all those years ago: “Sunshine, Sunshine” “Ladybugs Awake!” “Clap Your Hooves,” “And Do A Little Shake!” After finishing their favorite dance, both Twilight and Cadence hug each other and share a wonderful girlish giggle, “It’s so good to see you.” They both end up saying the same line together, which brings forth another giggle from them each. Shining Armor is very happy to see that his wife and sister get along so well together, as they always have been. Ever since the events of the wedding and the Crystal Empire, these two have such a strong bond, much like himself and his brilliant little sister. The hugging soon comes to an end and Cadence decides to start things off with a little conversation about the more recent things, “So, how have things been in Ponyville, Twilight?” “They have been going well; My friends are always there to help me, Princess Celestia is preparing me for my next lessons, and well…that’s about it,” Twilight explains in truth of all that has happened recently, while omitting the strange dreams of course; Probably best not to tell them until she has a better understanding of all this. “That’s wonderful, Twilight,” Cadence praises her little sister upon hearing all that she has been doing as of late. “Indeed it is. We are both so proud of you. Mom and Dad would be too. It's too bad they couldn’t make it to the Gala,” Shining Armor informs with a sad hint in his voice. “Yeah….” Twilight now seems to notice that her parents did not show up, but she will not let this bring her down, “I’m sure they have a good reason. Besides, we can maybe visit them before the end of the night; Surprise them in fact!” Twilight suggests with much encouragement, knowing it may be a fun idea. “That sounds like a good idea, Twili," Shining Armor agrees right away since the idea sounds just like the right course of action, "Right after the Gala, lets go pay them a visit.” Twilight gives her BBBFF a big grin of excitement, “Can‘t wait!” As the three of them continue their conversation as any loving siblings would, the orchestra begins playing a different tune; It is slow dance music, which is the signal for couples attending the Gala to have the opportunity to dance together. Shining hears this and turns to his wife, and bows in the proper manner, “Dearest Cadance. Will you honor me with a dance?” Both Twilight and Cadance giggle at how much of a gentlecolt Shining Armor is and find it very sweet. The Crystal Princess curtsies in return and accepts his offer, “I will, my handsome Captain and Prince.” Shining escorts his beloved wife out on to the dance floor, where they begin dancing together to the slow, but soft melody of the music played by the band of five ponies. Other couples follow suit, and the floor soon has a great number of couples dancing together with the ones they love and hold dear to their hearts. Twilight smiles as her brother and sister-in-law dance together, with their eternal love guiding their every step. But as she watches, Twilight soon feels her happiness starting to slip into that of sadness; The same she felt the other night when she was daydreaming. “They just seem so happy together.” She admires as her gaze turns to the other couples dancing. Twilight Sparkle is now feeling that she wishes she could be out there, with a very special somepony. She now knows deep deep inside herself, it is her heart’s desire. Twilight continues to watch the dancing of the ponies, and soon imagines herself out there, dancing with a very handsome young stallion; He is holding her close as they would move slowly to the sound of the music. Twilight listens listen to his heart beat as she rests her head upon his chest. Then, she looks up at his handsome face, and into his eyes...and feel her heart beat with every ounce of love she has for her special somepony... ************************************* The music suddenly is brought to a halt when Princess Celestia bursts through the doors, with a very serious and slightly panicking expression on her face. This brings everypony, including the no-longer daydreaming Twilight, to turn their attention to her...and wonder what the issue is. “Attention, Everypony! This is an emergency!" Celestia shouts as loud as she can so everypony can hear here, "I need you all to gather and remain here in the Ballroom!" “What is going on, your Highness?” Shining Armor questions the Princess, feeling that he and the rest have a right to know what is going on. “There is no time to explain! Take the troops and guard the Palace doors! Nothing gets in!” Celestia orders her former captain, and the Canterlot Royal Guard that stand by her side...ready to follow Shining's orders to the end. The Captain and Prince obeys the command of the Princess, and takes what troops he has and gallops on to the front gate. Princes Cadence follows along with him, since there is no other place she would rather be than at the side of her beloved husband. Once the guards and her niece are gone and moving to the front, Princess Celestia orders her remaining guards to spread out around the ballroom and protect her guests and friends. While they follow her orders, Twilight moves her way through the crowd trying to reach the Princess; Her five pony friend and one little dragon join up with her, since they want to know what is happening. “Twilight, what the hay is goin’ on?” Applejack questions her best friend, knowing Twilight is closer to the princess than the rest of them and might know something. “I don’t know, Applejack. I've never seen the Princess like this before,” Twilight has no answer to give but hopes things will be made clear once they get to the princess. “Something big must be going on if this is happening,” Rainbow Dash suggests as she hovers above them, using the air to her advantage. Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie, Applejack, Rainbow, and Spike pushes their way gently through the other ponies as fast as they can, until they finally reach the great white alicorn at last. “Princess Celestia. Please...tell me what is happening?” Twilight pleads for an answer from her teacher. “Twilight, I need you and your friends to stay here with me and wait for my sister to return!" Celestia instructs the six chosen guardians of Harmony, "Princess Luna has gone to retrieve the Elements of Harmony with her own escorts. We will need you six to wield them for what is coming.” “But what is coming?!" “I...I do not know...”Princess Celestia admits while remaining strong for her subjects and the rest of the lands she rules...and hopes that Twilight and her friends will be enough to face whatever it is that approaches Canterlot. ********************************* The Front doors to the palace are sealed with powerful magic spells by the strongest of the unicorn guardcolts. The rest prepare for what is to come...by they wonder if they even can be when have no idea exactly what is approaching, but once they hear the roaring thunder of the storm, they stand their ground and prepare to defend the city of Canterlot. Shining Armor, with the support of his beloved Cadence, powers up his shield around the entire city, determined to not allow whatever this is to enter. “Stand your ground!” he shouts at his loyal troops, “It is our sworn duty to protect Canterlot from all evil. Be ready!” The guard’s confidence rises and they stand ready, thanks to the brave words of their fearless captain. Meanwhile, The guests, along with Twilight and her friends, watch as the doors all around the ballroom are closed off to prevent any from entering...or leaving for that matter. They all begin murmuring among themselves, wondering why the Princess would do something like this. “Maybe she’s planning a big surprise party for everypony!” Pinkie Pie excitedly suggests since she is loves surprises as well as planning such things. “Oh…I don’t know about that, Pinkie Pie,” Fluttershy quietly disagrees, while finding all this to be very scary. Rarity gives her thoughts on the matter, which happen to be well off the subject, “Well, whatever it is, it certainly ruined my chances of being invited again to-” “Enough! This is serious!” Twilight shouts at her friends when they are getting too chatty and losing sight of what is going on at the moment. The others are surprised at the sudden outburst from Twilight, but they soon realize she has every right to; The lavender unicorn is worried about her teacher and the situation. But before she can say anything else, Princess Luna knocks on the door from the other side and informs everypony that she has returned. Celestia opens the door for her sister and is relieved she has returned safely, but is shocked to see she has returned without the jeweled box that holds the Six Elements of Harmony, “Sister, where are the Elements?” “They are gone!” cries the Princess of the Moon, “When I arrived at the vault, it was open and they were gone. Somepony must have-” Suddenly, an explosion of thunder is heard from above in the blackened sky of the storm. Everypony in the room screams in fright and turn to ducking up the tables and chairs for safety; The noise is so loud that it's echoes will no doubt ring out and be heard in Ponyville and Cloudsdale. ******************************** The palace guards, led by Shining Armor and Cadance, stand by the door ready as they hope to be. The Captain uses as much of his strength as possible to keep his shield spell up around the city to ensure nothing will get passed him. But what happens next is something not even this well-trained stallion is prepared for: A bolt a dark lightning strikes on through the shield, shattering the magic around Canterlot in one single attack. The lightning then curves it's way down and strikes the very door the guards were sworn to protect. The great golden doors fly open and the shockwave of the blast knock all of the guards, including Shining Armor and Cadence, down onto the floor. They have failed to keep whatever has come forth out...but there was nothing they could have done to stop it, and now they lie unconscious on the ground. The volume of the thundering crashes above in the clouds grow louder as the wind outside increases ever more. The barred doors to the Ballroom open, and a mysteries dark mist appears...making it's way passed everpony and right up to the center of the room. There it begins to take form into that of a creature nopony has ever seen the likes of. Princess Celestia and Luna, along with the Mane Six, stand ready to face whatever evil foe that dares to have invaded the capital of Equestria. “Whoever you are...whatever you are...show yourself! I demand to know who you are and what you want!!” Princess Celestia shouts with great courage at the black mist. The answer is soon given once the mist takes the form of the one that controls it and the storms above: The monsters has four giant hooves and legs to where he looks like that of a pony...but only at the lower part. The upper part of it's body reveals two arms and claws, which follows with the head and the massive horns that rest on the top. In the end, this demon is huge and is covered in fur of both black and dark red. It wears armor, and its eyes are black, brimming with dark energy that are darker than any starless night. As the ponies within the Ballroom cower in fear to what they see before them, the creature gives a mere smirk and answers Celestia “I AM THE BEGINNING OF THE END…OF YOUR KINGDOM…AND YOUR PRECIOUS HARMONY!!” The dark demon gives a small wicked chuckle and reveals his name: “I…AM…TIREK!!!!” MLP: The Light of Equestria Chapter 1 Our story begins in Canterlot, which is home to the most elite ponies in all of Equestria. This is also where its rulers, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, live and watch over all those that live in this grand paradise...as well as maintain the day and night together. Canterlot is was also the home of Princess Celestia’s star student, Twilight Sparkle...until she moved to the town of Ponyville in order to be close to all the new friends she made during her visit so long ago. Today, Twilight has come back to Canterlot to retrieve some new reading material from the Royal Library. She has plans to study extra hard this week, and learn more than she has before; Perhaps it will be more then she can handle, but the bright and brilliant little unicorn never backs down when it comes to studying and learning all she can. “Are you in need of any assistance, deary?" The Royal Bookkeeper asks the young student of their most beloved ruler of Equestria when she walks by. “No thanks. I can handle it.” Twilight answers as she stands at the top of a ladder, while using her magical abilities to levitate a few books off the shelf and down onto the floor. The Bookkeeper smiles and allows Twilight to resume her search for whatever books she wishes to take home with her, and returns to her duty of dusting and re-organizing, "Very well. But if you change your mind and need any help from one who knows where every book is properly placed and categorized, but let me know~" "I will." The young streaked maned pony promises and returns to browsing the top shelf of the "Ancient Spells and History" section. After a while of searching and collecting what she wishes to take home with her, Twilight suddenly notices a small book buried deep in the back of the shelf. Curious to why something so small is hidden so far back, the lavender unicorn casts a simple levitation spell and pulls it on out. But once she does, a large collection of dust covering said book spreads into the air around her. “Ah….Ah…AHHHH-CHOOOO!!!” Twilight sneezes hard and falls off the ladder and down onto the floor...where the over a dozen books she collected cushion her fall by just a little. The bookkeeper hears the sound of the little unicorn cashing onto the floor, and rushes on over as fast as her four legs can carry here. Upon arriving, She now finds Twilight laying on top of the small pile of books in a daze, and tries to help her up, "By Celestia, are you alright, dear?” Twilight carefully stands back up tries to shake off the dizziness that causes her to see stars...which to her is difficult to see in broad daylight and in the middle of the castle library, "Yes..I’m fine. Sorry about the mess...it's just….it's very dusty up there." Turning her sights from the mare and the mess of books to the shelves above, the elder mare agrees with the young one with the amount of dust that covers floats around the air above. "Well, I will be sure to have that spot dusted next time. In the meantime, you should probably take what you have at the moment, Twilight. I would hate for another accident to happen and you to be hurt again." Even thought Twilight Sparkle was hoping to collect more books and other reading material, and the odds of another incident happening again so soon seems unlikely, it does seem best to go ahead and take what she has and return to Ponyville in order to begin her studies right away. "Alright. Well, I should get going now. Thank you for your help, Ma'am." "It is my pleasure, Ms. Sparkle." The bookkeeper gives a friendly smile as she walks off to collect the duster in order to clean up the dust upon the shelves that appear to have not been cleaned in quite some time. Twilight collects her books and places them inside her saddlebag, while stacking the rest up in order to carry them out with her magic...since there is no more room left inside. Upon gathering up the eighteen books, plus the small one that caused her recent fall on top, the proud little unicorn trots on out of the library and towards the train station to catch the next ride home to Ponyville. ***************************************** After an hour or so of riding aboard the train bound for Ponyville, a warm smile comes to the lips of Twilight Sparkle when at last she arrives at her destination. With all her books within her bag or being carried via her magic, the little unicorn steps off and starts making her way back home. Along the way back to the Golden Oaks Library, that her mentor Princess Celestia gave to her to live in when she first moved to Ponyville, Twilight cannot help but notice everypony out and about…enjoying the beautiful day. The weather is warm and welcoming, while the birds are chirping and singing with such a lovely melody. Even as the sounds of the birds and the warmth of Celestia's sun bring a desire to spend the day outside with her friends, Twilight has too much studying to catch up on and will have to take a rain check...in a matter of speaking. Arriving at last to the great tree that houses many books and other scientific items that any student needs when studying many advance spells and more, Twilight opens the front door and walks right inside and places all her book down upon the table in the middle of the room. Afterwards she calls out to the little purple and green scaled dragon she shares her home with, ”Spike! I’m Home!” With the sound of the lavender unicorn's return reaching his little green ears, Twilight’s number one assistant walks down the stairs and greets the unicorn he is happy to call friend, “Welcome home, Twilight. Did you find what you were looking for?” “Well...More or less,” She replies with a mere shrug as she levitates the over a dozen books and places them neatly in order upon the empty shelf in the wall...which she uses specially for books she borrows from others. “I’m hoping for less…as in less then what you usually bring home with you, which means less for me to clean up,” The baby dragon chuckles as he stands next to Twilight's side. The organized mare chuckles as her allows her eyes to give a small rolling in response to her little dragon's humorous words, “Very funny Spike. Anyway, I’m going to do some studying with the books I brought back, so feel free to take a look with the few I picked out for you to read in the meantime." Spike smiles at the mention of something that Twilight brought home to read, ”Don't mind if I do!” He takes a gander at the books and hopes to find one on gems or possibly one with steps to winning the heart of somepony special; Preferably the beautiful Rarity. As he moves from book to book, Spike notices the smallest one and picks it up to examine it. “Wow This book is…really old and…” He opens it and is really surprised. “And what?” Twilight asks with curiosity. “Falling apart..." Spike concludes his sentence while viewing the worn pages and the dust that resides on nearly every page, "I can barely read any of this writing...if at all. The ink is faded.” Twilight gently takes the book from her number one assistant and takes a look herself, only to find out he is telling the truth, “You’re right, Spike. Still, might be interesting to try and repair. After all the trouble this little book caused me today at the library, might as well see what secrets lie within.” “Alright...but wait. What do you mean by this book gave you trouble?” Spike's curiosity gets the better of him and finds himself wishing to know what exactly happened at the Canterlot Royal Library today. Recalling the incident that caused quite a commotion, Twilight's cheeks start turning into a slight red color to match the embarrassing thoughts she wishes not to relive or tell, “It’s not important. Try a different book and I’ll work on this one.” Even with a slight disappointment at being denied the tale, Spike shrugs it off and goes back to browsing through the books Twilight collected for him. He eventually comes across one on Gems and decides to start with this one. The little dragon takes it over to his favorite spot to read, which happens to be on the stairs themselves. With her assistant now occupied with his head now stuck in a book that has much information on various gems across Equestria, Twilight takes the mysterious, worn book to her lab table and begins to try and repair it...or at least restore some that can be readable. ************************************** After a few hours or mending and inking in what seems to be salvageable, Twilight Sparkle seems to have successfully repaired some pages of the books...while the remaining seem to be beyond any skill or magic...at least for her. Proud of her own accomplishment, The lavender unicorn turns to the first page. At first, some words are written in the common language while the rest seem to be gibberish; Most likely a language no longer exists. Even more so, this whole book seems more of a journal...since the words seem to be written in such a way. Whoever did write this, it seems to be long before Starswirl the Bearded’s time, since the language and style is nothing Twilight has ever seen inside of any book within Princess Celestia's archives. But as she skims through the few pages she was able to repair the best she could, Twilight soon comes across a small verse that may hold an answer to what this old journal may tell of...even if only a little: All was well. All was as it should have been. Until that day, when the Darkness came for us. A monstrous creature, leading what minions he had under his power, marched forth to steal our freedom. Fear took hold of us, and there was no Light to save us. Until...he appeared. A pony like no other, who's courage was greater than all of us, stood up to the Darkness. He led us against the forces of evil, and shouted these words: "When Brightest Day becomes Darkest Night," "Evil shall face a Champion’s Might," "By the strength of my Heart shining Bright," "Forever I stand…Courageous of Light!" Already what Twilight reads interests her greatly and makes her anxious to read on...but after this mighty oath written upon these worn and tattered pages, there is nothing further said on this. Most of the other pages are too worn out to read and repair, but twilight is determined to see what comes next. Eventually, she comes across a page she seemed to have missed earlier...and now sees a crude drawing which is without a doubt this champion described in the tale: "Is that...Courageous of Light?" Twilight asks herself upon seeing this drawing of a winged pony; a pegasus to be more exact. She stares at the drawing and when she looks a bit closer, she notices something atop the Champion’s head... “A horn? Was he...an alicorn...or something?" She questions greatly, which at the same time peeks her interest much. However, with nothing further to read, the lavender unicorn slumps down into disappointment at not being able to know more about this "Champion" and this great battle he fought alongside others to defeat this "Darkness". Even so, a small smile forms on Twilight's lips as she blushes ever so slightly, “As short as it is, this story and it's hero just sound so amazing and...” She sighs and begins wondering on things she never has before, “I wonder what it would be like if I ever met this stallion....” “Uhh...Twilight?” A familiar voice speaks up, joined in with light tapping on the head, interrupting the unicorn's daydreaming, "Equestria to Twilight! Are you okay?!" The little lavender unicorn jumps at the voice yelling at her, and falls to her side. Twilight shakes her head back into reality and sighs at her little baby dragon who had some nerve disturbing her like this, "Spike..." The nervous little assistant notices the look in his best friend's eyes along with the expression on her face; He can tell she is slightly annoyed at him. “Sorry for yelling, Twilight. It's just that...you were not responding when I was calling you a while back. You seemed to be off in your own little world or something.” Twilight calms down a little and rubs her head, realizing that she has spent hours not only repairing the dusty old journal, but daydreaming about the story discovered within...as well as the brave stallion. "I'm sorry Spike. I was just…thinking on…stuff.” “What kind of stuff?” Twilight looks down at the old journal, and just shakes her head,” It’s not important.” she reassures, denying what she is truly feeling since she does not wish to trouble Spike about it. Spike wonders what is on his best friend’s mind, especially when he can sense something is out of place. But he does not wish to upset her further by asking...even though he wishes to help her. ”Oh…well…okay. Anyway, it’s already dark so we should probably get to bed early, Twilight.” Twilight agrees with her little friend and after placing the books back on the table, she makes her way to the stairs...with Spike riding upon her back, ”You’re right Spike. The Grand Galloping Gala is tomorrow. I shouldn’t be up all night studying when-” she suddenly comes to a fast halt and remembers that she has spent all evening working on that book instead of studying. ”Oh no! I never got to my studies! If Princess Celestia finds out I am not taking my new lessons seriously-” “Twilight!" Spike interrupts and tries to calm his slightly panicking friend down, "I’m sure the princess will understand when we see her tomorrow...” Spike reassures and hopes Twilight will agree with him. Even though Twilight is known to argue with that notion and believe she will be punished for not studying like her teacher instructs her to, she decides for once to brush it off and calm herself down, "You're right, Spike. I'm sure it is no big deal and things will go okay at the Gala tomorrow. Spike is surprised to see his best friend agree with him so quick, but he is happy that she does. Now, they can both get a good night sleep and look forward to a wondrous time with all their friends at Equestria biggest event that takes place at the capital of Canterlot each year: The Grand Galloping Gala. **************************************** As the hour grows late in the night and everypony around the town of Ponyville sleeps within the beds softer than a haystack, Twilight Sparkle sleeps with not a peek to be heard that can waken her from such a blissful slumber. However, a cool breeze can be felt as the tired unicorn tries to ignore it and cover herself with her comforter more. Soon after, the muttering chatter of tiny crickets can be heard all around her, and this gets Twilight in a slight frustrated mood since the noise as well as the breeze is making it harder to fall back asleep. Opening her eyes to see where it is all coming from, Twilight Sparkle gasps upon seeing that she is no longer in her bed, or even in her house anymore. For some unexplained reason, the lavender unicorn finds herself in a grassy field of green, with a moonlit starry sky moving across the skies above. Wherever she is, it is nowhere that can be recalled or described; Twilight is no longer in Ponyville...or even Equestria. “Where am I…?!" She worries to a great degree, "Spike?! Anypony?!” Twilight begins to panic. “Where am I?!!!" Suddenly, Twilight feels a warm glow illuminating from behind her that for some reason calms her down a little...even though she has yet to see what it is or where it is coming from. The curious and now calm mare turns around and at first covers her eyes with her hoof at the light...but then removes it when for reasons not even she can explain, the bright light does not blind her or anything; it feels so warm...and welcoming. The glowing light of both yellow and white soon fades away...and now standing before the lavender unicorn mare is a brown stallion who has most of his body and face covered in a grayish black cloak; His horn rests atop his head, which shows that he is a unicorn. Whoever this pony is seems to have Twilight on edge, but she remains where she is and refuses to run. “Who…who are you?!” She asks, powering up her horn with magic in case the mysterious pony tries something. “Please…do not be afraid..." The stallion speaks softly as she looks at Twilight with his bright, yellow pupils that glow almost as that same light from before, "I am not here to harm you, Twilight Sparkle." "How...how do you know my name?" Even as surprised as she is that this pony she has never met before knows her for some reason, Twilight quickly changes her question to something more important, "Better yet...where am I? How did I get here? Answer me!“ Twilight demands. The cloaked stallion holds up his hoof, which at first gets Twilight on edge even more, but he lowers it shortly after, "Where you are now...is nothing more than a dream of yours, Twilight." Twilight finds that hard to believe, but since his answer is better than no answer at all, she powers down her horn and goes along with this...whether true or not, “What do you want?” The mysterious pony, who's cape flows a bit when the wind begins to blow gently across the valley, smiles and says, "I...I just wanted...to meet you, Twilight Sparkle." “Meet…me?” Twilight cannot believe what she has just heard him say, but is surprised that somepony who just appears out of nowhere in her dreams just to meet her. "Why...would you wish to meet me?" With his hood covering most of his head and some of his face, the mysterious unicorn sits himself down upon the soft grass beneath his hooves and explains why, "Because I just do...and since my time here is short...I may only have enough time to tell you of something very important. So please...hear what I have to say." Although still unsure about all this, as well as confused, Twilight has many questions in the back of her mind to ask this stallion. However, if what he says is true, then she may have to hear his words first and then decide then if all this is real...or just a dream of hers. "Alright...go ahead. But only if I get to ask you a question after, okay?" The stallion smiles and agrees with Twilight Sparkle's terms, "Very well." Raising his head to gaze upon the stars above, with his eyes and some of his face showing more, the stallion unicorn speaks, "Twilight...your home, Equestria...is in danger. A great evil, one that was defeated so long ago will soon return...and if he is not stopped, then the entire world will fall into Darkness...as will all those you love and hold close as friends and family." Twilight gasps and is unsure how to respond, and even with many questions to ask on this, the confused unicorn is unsure what to ask first. But before so much as the first question can pop into her mind, Twilight Sparkle gasps when she sees that same light appear behind the stallion. She points to it and wonders what is going on. The cloaked unicorn sighs sadly, seeing that his time here has been cut shorter than he thought, "I am sorry, Twilight. But my time is up...and I must go. Please...heed my words and be ready for what is to come." "What?! No wait!!" Twilight is not ready for this to end when she has so many questions to ask, "What about the Darkness?! I don't understand! I need to know more!!" The stallion stands up and gives a mere shake of his head, "There is no time, I am afraid. You will learn and understand more when the time comes..." He promises her, "But for now, be ready...and keep your heart strong, Twilight." As the bright light begins to move closer to the cloaked stallion, returning him to wince he came, Twilight is still unsure of all he has said...but remembers the deal they made. "Please! At least tell me your name! You promised me a question in return!!" True to his words, the brown unicorn gives Twilight a warm smile and shakes off the back of his cloak a bit...revealing a pair of wings on his side that spread out by his command. From what can be see, this unicorn is no unicorn at all...but something else entirely. "My name...is Courageous." Now in full surprise and shock to what she is now seeing as well as hearing: This very pony who came Twilight's dreams is the very same she read in the journal she found and restored before all this. How this is possible and how all this can happen...is something Twilight cannot fathom. However, with so much to ask and no time to utter a single word, Twilight Sparkle watches as the light illuminates once again...bringing her out of her dreams and back into the world she knows.
MLP: The Light of Equestria Chapter 2 "Wait!!!" Twilight Sparkle cries out upon opening her eyes and finding herself returned to her bedroom and out of the dream that she still tries to feel if it was a dream...or something more. Now with his goal set and such unlimited power at his beckon call, the monster moves forward towards his destination...and speaks only one set of words that shakes the very ground that feels that of a monstrous earthquake of evil: “SOON…THE WORLD WILL TREMBLE…AT THE VERY MENTION…OF MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!!”
MLP: The Light of Equestria Chapter 3 Ponies from all over Equestria are arriving at the glorious capital of Canterlot to attend the greatest social event hosted by Princess Celestia herself: The Grand Galloping Gala.
As the ponies within the Ballroom cower in fear to what they see before them, the creature gives a mere smirk and answers Celestia “I AM THE BEGINNING OF THE END…OF YOUR KINGDOM…AND YOUR PRECIOUS HARMONY!!” The dark demon gives a small wicked chuckle and reveals his name: “I…AM…TIREK!!!!”
MLP: The Light of Equestria Chapter 1 Our story begins in Canterlot, which is home to the most elite ponies in all of Equestria.
