My oak door flies off its hinges as three soldiers in their black armour enter my house and look around. Smashing anything that could contain anything.
"Wheres the food?!"one of the gaurds yell at me in a almost demonic voice.
"What food? You took the last of my food this morning!"I yell back startling a dark green mare outside.
the soldier who yelled at me trots up and hits my in the face with his armoured hoof.
"Ill teach you to speak back, youre a pathetic mess!"he spits as they leave.
I feel a tingling sensation in my nose. Slowely descending until the red drop splats against the floor.
As I raise my light brown to my nose another red drop drips down. I watch it as it rolls down until drops from the underneath of my leg.
"I really need to get out of here! But how?" I say in a whisper hoping the soldiers didn't hear me.
I unsteadily stand up on all four hooves and start towards whats left of my door. As I get within a meter of exiting my house a dead soldiers corps is droped infront of me. I stumbe backwards and onto my flank. Im nkt realy scared or worried by this because the griffons (who apparently started the war between transelmania and their kingdom) have been at the wall to this section of the city for days.
"Another soldier dies by a griffon and dropped from above. Good bye sir" I say to the soldier with a mix of sorrow and happiness in my voice when I realise its the soldier who hit me. "But thats what karma gives you for being a dick!"
Smilling I walk past the dead soldier and I turn the first corner to the path that leads to the train station. All I have to do is get a ticket, with all the money I have left I wont be able to get far. Maybe a small town in equestria, nearer the boarders.
"Where is it you plan on going sir?" The ticket master asks in a grumpy tone.
looking up I see im at the front of the que to the ticket booth.
"As far as I can with 50 bits and no packages." I say smilling.
"Well the furthest you can go is ponyville sir. Here's youre ticket. The train will leave in 5 minuites."
"Thank you sir" I say and gallop as fast as I cant through the crowds of waiting ponies.
Strangely the only trains that arnt being packed tight with ponies is the ones going to equestria. The train hoots and I bolt to get through the door before it leaves.
"Ticket please." A voice asks as I get on.
I turn to find its the trains ticket keeper
"Y, yes of coarse!" I say and pass him the ticket.
I enter the first carraige to see why no pony wanted on this train. It travels straight through griffon teritory.
I look at the walls taking in how soaked they are in blood. I notice how the word "run" has been mrked in it.
"Um, are you sure this is" I stop the question as I turn around to find the ticket keeper getting off the train before closing the door behind him.
"I guess id better prepare for a bumpy ride." I say as the train pulls away with a hiss.
I decide to move up to the careaige just behind the locamotive. Probably safer there.
but the farther towards the front I go the colder it seams to get. As I enter the front carraige a burst of heat hits me in the face like a brick. I stumble backwards but then continue moving forward before shutting the door behind me.
this carraige is very warm and at the same time windy enough to keep you cool. This is definetly the first class carraige.
suddenly a smashing sound comes from the carraiges behind and I turn to see multiple griffons climbing in through windows.
pannicking I open the door and unhook the train carts behind the one im on. As they are left behind a spear slices through my mane cutting off a tuft of my black hair as it rushes by me.
"Wohoohoo! That was close!" I say as I back up into my carriage once more. As I turn I find a spear being held to my throught by a griffon.
"Hehe, wrong day to catch this train punny stallion." The griffon says as the spear edges closer.
I look up at him he goes to kill me but I push the tip of the spear out the way and duck, smilling as he flies over me and through the closed door. I watch him start to get up for other carraiges to hit him and blood splatters the front.
"Help!" The driver yells at me through an open door
"What with?" I ask and he points to a bucket of coal.
I run over to it and start shovelling it in. As more coal goes in the train increases in speed.
"If we detatch the last carraige we might be able to get out of griffon territory before were both killed!" The driver says as I see a shadow behind him just before a spear is stuck through his head and is dragged out by a griffon.
I take out the pin holding the last carraige on and un hook it. However this takes longer than it should because im half blinded in gore from the drivers death.
The locamotive enters a tunnel marking the end of griffon territory a dead griffon is knoked of the roof and sprays me with even more blood. And so I tip the rest of the coal in the engine and prepare to use the brake when I get to poneyville.
I start to dose off when a small town comes into sight. It has multiple strange buildings to what im used to. Where these buildings look built for comfort the buildings im used to are built for surviving powerfum magic blasts and raids.
"So thats ponyville aye? Looks nice sfom here. Hope they dont mind me being covered in gore from the journey here." I say in a worried voice to match the worry that they will asume im a murderer.
I pull hard on the brake a load almost deafening squeal escapes the wheals and one of the axels break and sends the locamotive off the the track and me with it. Flipping and throwing me out of the trai I feel the ground suddenly catch up with me. I hear a crunchung noise as pain stikes through me. I know I have broken multiple bones in my still rolling body.
my vission is suddenly being blurred out and a darkness fades in around me. The last thing I see is three little fillies arrive. A yellow earthpony with red hair, a brownish pegasus with purple hair and a white unicorn with purple and pink hair. They something about telling a princess abou this but then one of the others say "come on girls! If we take him to twilight ourselves we might get our cutiemarks!"
I dont get to hear there reaction because my sight fades out with my hearing before I can have a chance at hearing it. I feel bodys moving near by but i think it's the end when a large hoof stamps down near my muzzle and I lose consciosness.
I wake to find myself on a hospital bed in a white room with beds running along the walls and windows every 2 beds.
I seem to be the only pony here so I start to get up when I hear somepony on the otherside of the white door to the room.
"Do you think hes awake? After all. It wasnt his blood that was on him. It was someponys who came from from transelmania and a griffons" the fierst femanin voice says.
"Aparently theres a war between transelmania and the griffons going on over something realy stupid."the second voice says. A male
They open the doors to find me standing next to the bed I was in and they gasp.
"Get back in bed! Youre not healed yet!" The se ond doctor commands.
"You want to knlw why their blood was on me? Well first the drivers blood is on me because a griffon killed him. Secondly the griffins blood is on me because it got killed by the train as I escaped griffon teritory!" I yell at them.
"So its true. They are at war."the nurse says.
"Yes its true. The only reason I came here on that trai was to get away from the war! So I can actualy have food for more than a day withiut it being taken by soldiers!" I rase my voice but not as loud as earlier.
"Get some rest and we willing see if we can find you a job tomkrrow"the second doctor says.
"Thank you. I just wish that train ticket didnt cost so much. I might have had some money left." I say clearly dissapointed.
As I drift I to sleep I hear a knoking sound.however knowing that im in a hospitali presume its another patient. Until I hear some pony ask "whats his name?"
"I dont know youre highness. He didnt say" one of the doctors replys.
"Inform me when he wakes. I have some questions for him."
"Yes youre highness!" All the doctors and nurses say.
"No youre highness!" I say loud enough for her to hear.
"Transelmanian citizen. Look at me when im talking to you. Is it true what you said about war?" She says.
I refuse to answer fully aware that it will most likely wind up the princess enough to get her angry.
after all. I am technicaly homeless now. No job, home or money. First things first, find a job.
heh. Big change after being an honoured lord to being a regular citezen to homeless! Makes me feal worthless!.
"So you where once a lord of transelmania. You could come in handy for peace meetings. Yes travenstien I know youre conscious."
I open my eyes just enough to seeprincess twilight standing before me. I slowely drag the bed cover over my head and try to ignnore her ever being there.
The next thing I know is im being held up in the air by a floating bed cover with an illuminous pink glow around it.
"What the f" I dont get to say the rest as twilight has used her moutn to hold my moutn shut.
"Dont they teach younot to swear where you come from?" Twilight asks
"They also teach unicorns to not disterb other ponies with magic!" I complain.
sighing with a slight chuckle she lowers me down and asks "so what is this I hear about war in transalmania?"
"Well if you let me out of the hospital and get me a job I mjght say" I offer.
she has a think and says after a while.
"You might be able to help on the apple farm, if you know how to make cakes you could go help sugar cube corner." Twilight says.
"Yes theres war in transelmania. And I barely escaped with my life." I say remembering the train driver as he got a spear through his head and painted the locomotive red with blood.
shivering at tne memory I realise twilight had asked me a question and is waiting for an answer.
"Um, yeah. What was the question again?" I say baking up as much as I can when she sighs.
"How bad has the war goten? It cant of got that bad in a couple of days."twilight says.
"Is everypony here stupid!? The war has been going on for eight years! Millions of innocent ponies have died because of a pointless war and you think that its only been going on for a couple of days?"I yell as loud as I can.
"Look calm down. Transelmania dont tell us anything. If they had told us the war had been going on for eight years we would have helped make a truce!"twilight attempts to sooth travenstiens nerves.
A blood vessel on the side of dynamos neck pulses as his anger grows.
"Ha! This country trying to make a truce? You cant even deal with trouble in youre own country properly! When ever something terrible happens here there sent away just to come back again! At least back at transelmania no pony caused crimes because if they did theyd get killed! Exacuted! Not just sent away!" I yell and open a window.
twilights face has gone white but now it flashes with red with anger as she realises what I just said and how I insulted the whole of equestria.
" how dare you!"twilight shouts back as I hop out the window.
pain shrieks through my left leg as I land on the otherside of the single storey hospital.
"Oh come on! Whats wrong with my leg now!?"I yell to myself as I look at my leg to find a piece of shrapnel in the muscle.
I bite onto it as hard as I can and pull. As it flings out blood spurts and makes a small area of grass stained red.
trying to ignore the pain its causing me and the blood pouring down my leg I walk towards the nearest building that isnt the hospital.
I knock on the wooden door to be face to face with a pink mare with frizzy hair and a grin on her face.
"Where is the nearest bar ma'm?" I ask
"Uhhhhhhhhhh!"she squeals and dissapears.
"Maybe the next house isnt inhabbited by a pony who has no sanity or logic in their life." I say to myself.
As I limp to the next house I knock on the door and a white pony with dark blue and white hair opens it.
"Hello ma'm. Can you give me directions to the nearest bar?" I ask as calmly as I can.
"Sure! Follow the road down and turn left just before sugar cube corner!" The pony says smilling
"Thank you very much!" I say smilling in return.
"Oh, whats youre name? I havnt seen you in town before." She asks.
"My name is travenstein. And what is youres may I ask?"I ask
"Oh, im colgate. Im the dental expert here at ponyville!" Colgate says proudly.
"Nice job. You seem to be doing a great job here. Everypony has teath like marble!" I say.
"Thanks! What do you do for a living then travenstein?"colgate asks.
"Heh. More like what I used to do. I used to be a lord back in transelmania until the war broke out. Every pony there since then scavenges for food and drink. Havnt had a job since." I say grimacing at the memory.
I say my good byes and I follow the directions given to me by colgate.
Soon I arive at a blak looking hut similarly built to the others.in one of the windows it says bar.
I enter it to find it almost empty. I sit down on one of the stools and ask "whats the cheapest alchohol you sell?"
" that would be a watered down moonshine. Its free." Says a voice from behind me.
"You the bar keep? If so I will have five of e'm" I say.
a colt with dark green coat and blue mane steps behind the counter and pours out five pints of tbe watered down moonshine before placing it infront of me.
"Thanks. I realy need this." I say smilling.
as I down two of the drinks he looks curiously at me and when im finished he asks
"So whered you live? Somewhere close.?"
"No where. Ive just abandoned all I have ever had. To get away from a seamingly endless war."I tell him
He just looks saddly at me and says
"Im sorry. I understand why you want to drink it away like this."
He genuenly sounds sorry for me. Maybe I will come here more often.
"Thanks. Is it just me or is that pink pony with frizzy hair crazy?" I ask. Not sure if I will get a reply
before he can answer a grey pegasus with a white and blue mohawk smashes into me from behind. When I turn around he is looking at me as if im some sort of deamon. I can clearly see that hes drunk.
he trie so hit me bi move out of the way of his drunkan stuper.
"Come back here you peice of " he starts saying before I hit him in the face.
"Dont even try it!" I grown at him.
"You, you think you c, can beat me? Pussy!" He attempts to taunt.
I llace a hoof to his throat and force him onto his back. I hit him with as musch strenght as j can mjster in the stomach and watch as he rolls on the ground moaning.
"Pathetic!" I say and skt down againafter I finnish the drinks I leave and look for some place that could shelter me for a while.
"Where do you think youre going?!" Thunderlane asks me from behind
"To find someplace to sleep."I answer honestly.
"No. Im going to send you to hospital."he replys.
I turn around and see that he has a branch in his hooves.
I gallop strait at him jump at a nearby tree and use it to get high enough to attack him. As I hit him in the face again he swings his branch and hits me in the head.
as we both hit the grou d with a thump I hear a 'CRACK' inside my head and I get up growling. I seam to have somehow grown because I now tower iver thunderlane.
"The last pony I knew who was like you got publiceky exacuted! I guess here will have to do!" I say and I pummel him.
Again and again I pummel him and yet he still breaths. I pick up a stone and place it on his chest then hit it. I hear the sou d of his ribs cracking and walk off.
"Heh. If he survives hopefully he wont try and fight me again. Or I will make sure he dies!" I promise myself.
the next day royal guards arrive and place me in shackles.
"I have done nothing wrong! Why do you put these discrase of shakles on me! A foal could get out of these!" I say to the guards. They laugh and lock me behind bars.
"Didnt even kill him. Oh but I will! In the name of all that is holy I will kill him!" I vow to nothing in particular.
