The Technomagical Age has given the residents of Equestria a plethora of advancements that have made life easier and more entertaining for them, combining technology and magic. From the ability to talk to faraway friends and family using cell phones to televisions that have entertained the masses with numerous programs, life couldn't be better.
That is, on the surface. In reality, everypony is always under surveillance by the ctOS, or Central Operating System. Not only can the authorities use it to predict when and where crimes will happen, but elite hackers who have gained access to the system can drain bank funds, upload viruses to major computer servers, and even black out entire cities.
The city of Detrot, however, has a third party.
A group of vigilantes -- the Watchdogs -- have made it their mission to use their hacking skills to access ctOS and take down those in the city who deserve punishment. The police don't necessarily agree with their methods, however, forcing them to fight a two-front war.

While on a mission from the Watchdogs, vigilantes Digital Shadow and Spark stumble upon an evil plot to turn the city of Detrot into a massive technomagical weapon via ctOS. With time running against them, the shadowy protectors of the city must find a way to stop the madmare in charge from wiping out thousands of lives while also dealing with everyday life in the Watchdogs.
