The sound of waves softly crashing on the shore awoke Sapphire, her eyes fluttering open as the soft voices of her mammalian friends reached her ears. With a smile, she arose from her heavily-pillowed (she needed a roughly 5:1 bed-to-pillow ratio to sleep properly) queen bed, taking a swig of some coconut juice as she stepped out of her quaint little home on Isle Dolphino.
"Good morning, everyone!" Sapphire called out to the pod who were bobbing just above the water to greet her, causing tiny waves. "I hope you're having a sensational morning."
The dolphins bounced and flipped about, their high-pitched chatter indecipherable to anypony other than their special friend: she had been bestowed the knowledge necessary to understand the Dolphin Dialect by the great King Dolphin III many moons ago, after proving her worth by performing the unabridged version of the king's favorite Shakesdolphin sonnet.
"Fantastic!" Sapphire said, shimmying out of her multi-layered nightgown. Taking a careful step into the crystalline ocean, she feigned shock at the coldness of the water, before leaping in, eliciting a cackle from Sir Dolphin. She and the pod quickly set forth, briskly swimming their way down to the underwater city of Dolphlantis. The armored guards chirped a greeting as she swirled past them, taking in all of it at once. Even after all these years, the sights of the ancient aquatic city were still positively breath-taking, from it's shimmering spires, to the fin-crafted statues of the great dolphin heroes of old (now slightly more algae-covered).
She maneuvered her way over to Dolphin Park, setting herself down on a bench beside Dolphina's Rock, a massive slab of granite with the epic ballad of the adventurer Dolphina carved into it, detailing her many quests throughout the Eight Seas, primarily her secret meeting with the Sea Ponies (which led to the first Great Dolphin Conference, establishing trade and friendship between the two species). It had been quite an inspiration for her.
A familiar voice came from nearby, causing her to whip her head in its direction. "Renaldo!"
Stopping herself midway through a rather embarrassingly frantic paddle, Sapphire gently cruised over to her closest dolphin friend. "Oh baby, did you sleep well? I know I slept like a rock after last night's party..."
Renaldo squeaked out a response. "Aw no, that's no good."
The dolphin shyly gave another chirp. "R-Renaldo! I can't just "keep you company", what sort of filly do you take me for?"
Renaldo blushed (somehow), before correcting himself, and pulling out a small, shimmering pearl, much to the surprise of a few passerby, who "aw"ed at the pair.
"Oh my! This is just so sudden..." Sapphire said, her face darkening, before she pulled her love into a tight hug, "but of COURSE!"
Fighting off vertigo from the impossible height of the First Church of St. Dolphin, Sapphire swam her way down the aisle. Much to the designer's credit (whom she was sure to thank for needing an outfit on such short notice), her new dress looked absolutely perfect. Although it still needed more sapphires.
Her lip quivered as the mitre'd priest read off his cue cards, her knees feeling weak as her eyes met with Renaldo's, who to his credit looked positively ravishing in his suit (which she'd thanked her designer even more for, obviously).
After a brief moment of fumbling, Sapphire tugged Renaldo into a warm, hungry kiss by his tie. "Mama always said I knew how to pick 'em," she whispered, following it with a quick giggle as Renaldo blushed harder (again, somehow).
She casually tossed the bouquet over her shoulder (causing the aforementioned designer to loudly screech "MINE", before starting an outright brawl with the other bridesmaids, much to the priest's dismay), twirling her way back home with her husband. There was an odd vorp as they exited the church, as if something immensely magical had been very quickly sealed (and then heavily bricked over), but she paid it no mind, more focused on nuzzling her husband's neck. It was going to be quite a day.
"How about we hit that little restaurant down by Tuna Street? You've been saying it's to die for..."
Celestia elegantly sipped a sliver of spiced tea from her (slightly faded, but still loved) "No. 1 Teacher" mug, curled up at the table with her first edition copy of the Laws and Ordinances of Equestria. It was simultaneously surprising and slightly disheartening just how different old Equestria had been. Why goodness, even as recently as the 'Ough-
"Sister."
Celestia jolted in her seat, turning to face her dear sibling with a smile. "Good morning, Luna! Did you sleep well?"
Luna clumsily rifled through the pantry for some sustenance, shrugging. "I suppose so," she said, levitating out a sizable box of oats. She was never really awoke until she'd had her oats.
For a while, the two sat in silence, until Luna worked up the nerve to ask something that had been weighing heavily on her mind. "Sister, how often would you say that you find out something about a pony that you immediately wish you hadn't?"
"Oh dear," Celestia said, her face turning a bit more serious and sympathetic, "have the Night Guard been dreaming of you again?"
"No, no. That was, er, just embarrassing," Luna said, hiding her blush behind her bowl, stuffing her mouth with a heaping spoonful of delicious oats. "This was just...bizarre. Is it common these days for a mare to er, very much fancy dolphins, despite clearly not being a marine biologist?"
"Don't talk with your mouth full, Luna," Celestia said almost automatically, ignoring Luna's eyeroll, "but, to answer your question, I'm pretty sure it's not that common. It was probably just one of those strange, inexplicable dreams. She likely didn't do it on porpoise.'
Luna blinked. Celestia daintily sipped another bit of tea, the refined regality of her face betraying her smirk.
She stopped smirking when Luna dumped the box on her head. Then she let out a quite unrefined snort.
