Prologue - Celestia's Big Heck Up
It was an average day in Equestria, or so ponies thought. The sky was a lovely hue of orange as always during the sunset. Celestia and Luna were standing on a balcony that faced the Canterlot gardens. The white alicorn's horn glew a bright yellow as she slowly lowered the sun while her sister raised the moon. The sky quickly changed from orange to a deep black as the moon was fully raised in the sky. It shined brightly and so did the stars.
Celestia turned to her sister "I have managed to restore the old spell book that was found in Starswirl's ancient library. It is an old summoning spell that was once used to call deities to our aid. The ancient deities inhabit a different world or universe from ours."
"This spell may be of use if a threat was to surface, not that we could not handle it." She turned away from the gardens and walked back inside the castle.
Luna followed her sister inside. "Back up would always be a nice addition to our forces. I say that you should try to cast the summoning spell to see if it works. I myself would cast the spell, but I do have the night court to attend to."
Before Celestia could reiterate, Luna was gone from the room they were in.
She sighed and began to walk to her room.
Of course I am the one who has to cast the spell. Celestia stroded through the hallways and into her bedroom. On her bed laid the ancient spell book that contained the summoning spell that she needed to perform. Celestia used her magic to levitate the book from her bed and she flipped through the pages to the page that contained the spell. She looked through the list items needed for the spell.
Fourteen candles made from beeswax
Paste created from Lapis Lazuli
A large bowl filled halfway with water
Rose petals
This seems easy enough... Celestia levitated a piece of paper and a quill over and quickly wrote down the needed items. She placed down the quill and exited her room. The alicorn quickly gathered the needed materials and came back into her room.
The spell required a star surrounded by a circle with smaller stars around it to be drawn onto a wall. Celestia cringed at the thought of smearing blue paste onto the wall, but she abided to the directions and drew out the circle and other things with her hoof. She then arranged the candles, rose petals, and the bowl around the wall that was stated in the directions. The setup was complete and Celestia skimmed through the directions once more and shut the book.
A clear mind was key to this spell and Celestia's mind was not clear.
The alicorn walked back a few steps and lowered her head so that her horn pointed right at the center of the star on the wall. Her horn blared yellow as she started to cast magic. Sweat appeared on her face as she concentrated harder. White tendrils appeared around her and waved in a synchronized beat. The tendrils floated over symbols on the wall and disappeared. The star began to glow white and the circle did too. However, the smaller stars around the circle grew black and started to bleed. The candles' flame were put out.
Celestia opened her eyes while she was still casting the spell and noticed the symbols began to turn from a bright white to a sickly black. She gasped and her horn stopped glowing. The symbols on the wall suddenly turned red and a bright flash of light followed by a loud bang occurred. Celestia was tossed back and onto the ground from the explosion.
She stood back up and scanned the wall, the materials that were set down had been scattered across the floor. The rose petals were turned into ash and the bowl was tipped over. The water was sprayed onto everything, anything remotely near to the wall was wet. Celestia grumbled and flung herself onto her bed.
The room was a mess and the failed summoning drained a heaping ton of energy from her. She was too tired to clean up the mess or call her maids to do the job for her. Celestia blinked a couple of times before falling asleep.
Stormcatcher was busy barking out orders on the top of the Tempest Spire at the workers. He turned his head to yell some more, but something was wrong. Oh something was very wrong. Stormcatcher paused and froze in place for a moment. He emitted a low growl and turned his head towards the direction the Tangled Woods was located. Something was off about that place. Every god was able to feel the presence of the other god, no matter how far away they were from each other. However, the presence of the deity that lived in the Tangled Woods was nonexistent.
Odd. Usually her aura was much stronger. I can not feel anything that relates to her now.
"BOSS! BOSS WE HAVE AN EMERGENCY! A FEW TUNDRAS ARE STUCK IN THE FISH HARVESTER!" A Ridgeback only of four weeks was screaming loudly from the bottom of where Stormcatcher stood.
He stepped down from his pedestal and raised his head.
"Mechanics of the Stormtroop go to sector three of the food plant right now." Stormcatcher boomed. He lowered his head and returned to his regular activities or yelling out orders. Forgetting about how presence of the deity of shadow was gone.
Something was stirring. A large, shadowy form raced across the fields of Sweet Apple Acres, leaving a trail of black gunk. The shadowy figure entered the Everfree Forest. An uproar of barking and growling started right after the figure entered the forest. The barking and growling was later followed by wails of pain, yelping, and the sound of wood being snapped in half.
Celestia really hecked up.
