I screeched in terror as I dodged the kick from the pony I once called a mother. "Useless!" she howled, attempting to impale me with her pitch black horn. "Mom! Stop!" I cried desperately, my voice hoarse with disbelief. "You can't be my daughter if you can't be normal!" She screeched, her teal eyes wide and pupils dilated with fury. "I can't help it! I can't help it! It's not me!" I sobbed, my horn sparking uncontrollably as I teleported behind her, just barely dodging another angry blow. "I'm sorry!" I cried, collapsing and throwing my hooves over my head, letting salty liquid expel on its own from my eyes.
I felt as though a million sparks and punches went into my body as my mother cast a breath-grasper spell on me. I gasped for air and reached out a hoof and swung it round, though I never did mean to. "St....! I..I.." I tried to speak, though my lungs and throat were so tight I couldn't even let a squeak of horror escape my throat. I swiped my gray tail in fear, flicking it and flinging it every direction. My head slammed against the ground, and it felt a million times heavier than it should have been. "M...mo.." I tried to speak one last time. No, it wasn't worth it. I closed my eyes. I wasn't out cold or anything, it's just I gave up.
A chill ran down my spine as the scent of blood entered my nostrils. I was breathing again. I gasped in and out, then coughed several times in a row. Blood spewed from my mouth as I hacked on the ground, my breathing patterns irregular and raspy. "I'm sorry it's like this." I wheezed as soon as I got the chance to speak. I didn't even try to get up. I made out a black fuzzy shape leaning above me. "Fine." my mother said coldly, her teal eyes narrowed. It came out as a whisper. Then I said something that nobody has ever said to my mother and meant it,
"Nightcloud. I miss you."
My mother's eyes widened, and she let out a horrible noise like she was wailing or choking. She flung herself on top of me, her screams getting louder with every breath. I finally scraped up every ounce of courage I had left in my heart and teleported outside, the sirens from the Canterlot pony police department already wailing and coming closer. I raced as far as I could away from the hellhole I once called home, my navy hooves aiming recklessly and aimlessly in front of me as I ran into nothingness.
