Soliare of Astora: regarded by many men and Lords alike to be a bit of an arrogant buffoon. He had chosen to become an Undead in order to pursue his goal of reaching the sun. He had been tirelessly searching for his own sun, or something akin, but he never found it. He almost gave up hope in Lost Izalith, suffering from the trauma of repeated deaths and the inability to reach his goal, until he heard a call from across the dimensional barrier. The Chosen Undead who would defeat Gwyn had summoned him to the last battle with the Lord of the First Flame himself. In the end, the Undead prevailed and in a gesture of the upmost honor and courage, sacrificed himself so that the fire could burn longer.

As Soliare left the battle, he realized he still had much to live for. Inspired by his late friend's bravery, he set out to Drangleic in pursuit of a new sun. He takes his leave along a highland path away from Anor Londo. Soon, though, he hears a rustling in tall grass. There he finds a young woman with etheral hair and satin robes. She claims to him to not be of this world. She claims to be Princess Celestia, brought here after she investigated a disturbance coming from the magic mirror in Canterlot. Soliare offers for her to join him on his quest, in hopes that she will be able to return home.

Along the way, Soliare tells her stories of his past exploits, both to pass the time and to know her better. And soon, they stumble upon a city that seems to remain relatively untouched by the Curse of the Undead. But all good things were not meant to last.
