The Daughter of Discord
Chapter One
Load Full StoryNext ChapterDark, cold, damp, and empty. The bleak atmosphere complimented the mood of the purple mare imprisoned here. Twilight sat on her cot, staring at the rusted, steel bars in front of her. A strong buck would probably be enough to break them from the centuries of neglect, if it weren't for the magical enchantment that were recently placed on them. It’s been a long time since the dungeons beneath Canterlot castle had been used, and all of the rusted equipment that kept down here could attest to that.
Silence permeated the air, as the only sounds to be heard in this depressing place were soft sounds of Twilight's breathing and dripping of water from the ceiling. The silence was broken when a heavy door creaked open and light penetrated the darkness, blinding Twilight.
A tall, white figure walked down the hall of cells, an event that hasn't taken place in over a thousand years. She walked down the rows of empty cells, all of which weren't used for Twilight since the locks have rusted too much. Celestia continued until she saw Twilight face. Her mane was a mess, and had dried tears under her eyes. In the dark you could hardly see the bruises inflicted over her lavender coat, but the swelling in her right eye was still there.
Celestia spent a minute staring at her student while her student stared back. The silence lasted a minute before she looked down and sighed, “Twilight…”
Twilight just continued to stare at her mentor, before she worked up the nerve to answer, “Celestia…”
Celestia looked back to her student, “Twilight, why?” Twilight turned her head to not meet Celestia’s gaze. “You know how severe your crimes are. I can't... I just…” she trailed off at a loss for words. Celestia’s eye’s continued to look at Twilight, not with malice, but with love and heartache. She was on the verge of tears before Twilight spoke up.
“I know... I know what I tried to do. I know how bad this seems, and... and how disappointed you must be in me, but…” Twilight stopped for a moment and looked back at Celestia again with renewed strength, “but I did, what I did, because I want to protect my family and I know that Cadence is still hurting Shining Armor right as we speak. My only regrets are that I failed to persuade you and the others that I was right, and that I wasn't able to finish her off.”
Celestia opened her mouth to say something, but stopped. She closed her mouth and just stared at Twilight, before she was unable to take any more of this. As Celestia made her way out of the dungeon, she tried to pull together her usual graceful poise and put on a calm mask, but as she made out of the dungeon, everyone could still see the pain that still bled from her. The guards kept their stoic positions, the maids walked around her, and the regular Equestrian royalty greeted her with their usual manners, but they all worried for the Princess. She went straight to her chambers from where she had just came from, and flopped onto her bed and cried more.
As Celestia made her way down the hall from the dungeon, the guards posted outside closed the doors, cutting off the only light Twilight had seen in a day. Twilight slumped down from her upright position and closed her eyes. She had no more tears to shed.
