Princess Twilight Sparkle has been having nightmares for two months now and they are getting worse. It isn't the fact that she is having nightmares that scares her, though. It is what horrible things she sees in them that she fears.

Death, explosions, and a mysterious bipedal creature with frightening tools and a strange companion plagues her sleep. One night, though, the nightmare she has pushes her over the edge. She wakes up screaming and sobbing, scared for her life.

She can no longer go on hoping her sleep will not have a nightmare in store for her. She seeks answers, but only finds one when she and her friends venture into the Everfree Forest: You can only stop your fears if you face them head on.
