It Was Harmony That Lied
Starting lies and the end of deception
Load Full Storytheme song:
Celestia had a great view of her defeat. In her cocoon she could see the element bearers brought in the room and with that her last hope was gone. Chrysalis and her changelings had won and the day was lost. The guard had been routed the city was lost. All she could do was lament her failure. With her tear filled eyes she watched the changeling queen gloat over her victory. Then she heard it, that laugh. That abhorrent laughter she hoped to never again hear. She knew when the statue was found missing her worst fears had been realized. Reality seemed to really hate her to today.
"Ehahahhaha." The dry humorless laughter seemed to permeate the air. Even Chrysalis seemed to be confused. Then she arrived. Her entrance seemed to be quite subtle in hindsight. The main doors of the room blasted off their hinges crushing any changelings unfortunate or dumb enough to be under them. After the dust settled all eyes could see the latest interruption to the changelings plans. She looked like a normal human but her skin was unnaturally pale. She wore a beautiful purple dress but had no legs instead her dress ended in smoke. Her eyes had yellow where white should be and her pupils were red. Her hair was the most noticeable feature however as it seemed to be a mix of water and smoke and moved as if it was alive. It was also so black the changelings chitin seemed white by comparison.
'Well well well." She said her voice seemingly radiating malice. "This was entertaining. But now it has to end." As she said this she surveyed the room taking special note of the changeling queen and the princess in the cocoon. Everyone was seemingly paralyzed until the queen fired a green blast at the offender. Punctuating the attack with a simple question.
"Who do you think you are?!" She screamed at the would be interference. Her attack however simply passed through the being like it was smoke.
"Why you only had to ask. I am Eris goddess of chaos." She dramatically pronounced placing one hand on her chest and extending the other high above her head. As she moved however her arms didn't remain solid. Instead they turned to smoke as she moved then reformed in their new positions. Then she stopped and placed a hand on her chin.
"Well I wouldn't call myself a goddess but everyone else has for so long I just started doing it for simplicity." She was interrupted by Chrysalis sending another blast at her to the same effect as the first. Eris turned to the changeling queen frowned then seemed to dissipate and then reappear in front of the changeling. As she spoke she materialized a knife in her right hand and she gently placed the tip of the blade on the queens right cheek and slowly brought it under her chin.
"You would think that a race I saved from extinction would at least not attack its savior." She said dryly. The look on the queens face was one of confusion and abject terror. The surrounding changelings just looked confused.
"I also just can't fathom why you did this foolish attack." She said looking at all parties present.
"I-I n-needed to do this to save my subjects." At this statement Eris turned to the queen and gave her a look.
"So you decided to invade a country famed for its fair leadership and has shown throughout history they will gladly help others in need." The queen seemed to take her time soaking in these ideas so Eris decided to finish it for her.
"This of course means that if you fail your fucked, no redo no negotiation just slaughter and hatred." It was apparent from her expression that she had never considered that. She didn't have time to retort however as Eris decide to move over to address Celestia. Floating in front of her with a thoughtful expression on her face.
"I can't really I am surprised at your defeat. I mean you almost couldn't win when the fight was rigged from the get go." She laughed at the princess in her cocoon. The princess wore a mask as to not give Eris any satisfaction.
"But I suppose I could help you, for old times sake." With this statement she materialized a knife and cut the strands holding the cocoon to the ceiling. It crashed to the floor breaking open and leaving the weakened princess sprawled out on the floor. Eris just laughed at the image. Celestia shot Eris a look that told everybody present there was more to her dislike than this simple intrusion.
"Well it has been fun watching you all get creamed for your own incompetence but alas I can't have you fall just yet princess." With those words she turned around and walked into the middle of the room.
'Krakus could you please come here a moment?" She yelled to the ceiling.
"I have a city here in need of cleanup." Her malicious grin made no sense to anyone until a massive shock hit the whole city. Eris went over to the window as a very large green scaled head appeared placing a blood red eye in the frame. Celestia looked at the eye with horror remembering quite clearly what the rest of it looked like. Eris saw this and grinned even wider.
"Come on Celly is that anyway to greet an old playmate of yours. Well anyway I hope Lulu can play cause you look pretty out of shape, bye." She waved as she dissipated like smoke.
The next three hours of Canterlot were hell. The massive hydra named Krakus rampaged through the city toppling buildings and eating everything that crossed its path. It killed indiscriminately and destruction seemed to be its only motive. Chrysalis and her changelings quickly realized the day was lost to the beast and made a hasty retreat hoping it wouldn't follow them. With Celestia down for the count it was up to Luna to defeat this powerful beast. Despite the odds against her it seemed like Luna had met this creature before on the field of battle. She predicted its every move and all her blasts seemed to hit nothing but vital areas. The creature was killed and the corpse disposed of. The damage to the city however was beyond catastrophic. The city was just a rubble field. The castle though seemed relatively unmarred by the beast, disturbingly so. Celestia looked at the carnage with Luna when the element bearers came through the doors demanding answers.
"What the hay was that thing?!" Rainbow dash demanded to know. She would have charged forward but was pulled back by Applejack. Twilight had decided to take charge of the questioning away from Rainbow, at least until she calmed down.
'Princess what Rainbow Dash means is just who is Eris and what is going on?" She calmly asked. Well as calm as one can be having just witnessed hell itself open up. Celestia turned to look at her faithful student. The time for lies was over. Now she had to come clean.
