Chapter 3: The House call

Previous Chapter

He stayed in cover as night began to fall. He didn't want to draw to much attention from anything. After about fifteen minutes of doing nothing but stay quiet, he tripped. He looked at his hooves to see what was there. It was hard to see, so his horn lit up. What he saw was a tinny dead filly. Fear still stained on her face. Her organs hanging out, blood splattered all over the street. He turned his head, and covered his mouth. After he gathered himself, he looked around. He saw an open car, and decided to put her in it. So he bent down, and put her intestines back into her the best he could. Then he picked her up, and walked over to the car. He put her in it, crossed her arms, and closed her eyes. Then he looked for something to cover the body with. He didn't find anything. He looked at the house that the car was in front of, and was going to get a blanket. So, he shouldered his rifle, and began walking. The door was open already. "Family must have been in a hurry to get the hell out." he told himself, and walked in. He then realized if he shot his rifle, then he would have to hall ass again. So he let it hang off the strap, and pulled out his combat knife. Its not like he knew where to get them, but there still like ponies right? So, same logic. So he went into the kitchen. No one. That was good, so he preceded forward. He came to a closed door. He knocked on it. When there was no answer, he walked away. Then, a shotgun blast went through the door.

As instinct to him, he dove for the floor, and hit it with a loud thud. "D-Did you get him Richard?! I heard a thud!" a mare said. At that moment, Vinny turned. Pulling his M1911 from his holster. "I-I think so....I-I don't see any blood, or anything moving....M-Maybe.." the stallion said. From what Vinny heard, his name was Richard. So Vinny stood, and got by the frame of the door.

"Fuck man! Almost blew my brains out!" Vinny yelled through the door. That was greeted by another blast of the shotgun through the door. "CALM THE FUCK DOWN!" Vinny spoke, covering his ears. Then he reached for the doorknob. "Hold on, Im coming in. Don't shoot, I wont hurt you." Vinny spoke, reassuringly.

As he opened the door, the couple inside sat there. Two kids behind them, and a shotgun in Richards hand. Richard had a brown coat, and black mane. His eyes were a terrified green. His wife, had a light blue coat, and a purple mane. Her eyes were a sad grey. The kids were both fillies. They were twins, which made it hard to tell the difference. They both had a pink coat, and blue mane. But one had green eyes just like there father. The other had blue eyes, like the ocean.

Vinny slid his M1911 back into its holster, and picked up his hands at the trembling family. "Calm down. Im a Marine. No need to get all jumpy." Vinny spoke softly. Richard put the shotgun down, and sighed one of relief. Then his wife put her hands to her face. Vinny smiled, and walked past them. He went straight to the young mares, and bent down. "Hey there, you two alright? Taking care of your parents?" he asked, with a small smile. Richard giggled, then his wife began to sob. Vinny turned, but was pulled back by the mare with green eyes.

"Help us!" she whispered. Her voice filled with terror. "They stole us and our other sister! They fed those things our sister, and they were going to give...those things us so they could escape!" her voice began to sob as she hugged Vinny. He felt her tears on his coat as he hugged her. He then pulled away, giving a small nod. He took his glasses off, letting her see his crimson eyes. Then he handed her his glasses, and stood.

He smiled, and looked at them both. "Mister Richard. Whats your wifes name?" he asked, his smile getting a bit bigger then needed.

"OH! Her name is Violet. Oh honey stop crying. The kids are alright! Look." Richard spoke, pointing at the fillies.

"Why don't you two help me find the generator. Im sure you two have a generator...Right?" he asked, looking at the wife. She gave a small nod, and got up. She walked over to the door and looked back. She stared at the shotgun for a second, then began walking.

About five minutes later, the power pops back on. Just in time to, the sun had completely gone down. Then, after two minutes of light, the power went out. Richard, still in the room, picked the shotgun up. The power then came back on, and Vinny was in the doorway. "Hurry! She fell when the power went out, and she cracked her head open!" he said, moving out of the way as he dashed to the garage where the generator was. When he looked in, and saw his wife duck tapped to the chair. He went to turn, but Vinny was already there. He punched the stallion. The stallion fell, and was unconscious. When he awoke, he was hanging from chains.

"Why? Why three small fillies?" Vinny asked, right there. Banging on the garage indicated that the monsters where out there. Richard smiled, and looked at the mare with the purple hair.

"Four...I don't want to die, so I picked the four mares from the street. So when they come, they get eaten first, giving me time to run! Don't you see, the weak die! The strong survive! At any coast! I can be invincible!" he said, and looked at the mare. "Ohh, and I was gonna have fun with you before I gave you up." he laughed. With that, Vinny untied the mare.

"Go. Get the gun and the fillies. Tell them its okay, that I sent you. All of you are going to follow me." Vinny said, with a small smile. When she left, Vinny turned to the crazy stallion. Pulling his knife out. He walked up to him, and make small gashes on his legs and lower chest. Richard screamed in pain as he felt the blood escape his body. He then went to the garage door, and opened it slightly. Letting one of the undead pull it open. Vinny ran to the door inside the house and closed it. Barricading it with anything close.

In the front of the tiny hoard was the filly from the car. Tinny thing, she ran and got his hoof. Richard screamed in fear as the rest gathered around and began to eat his lower half. Soon, his arms would tear from his body as the zombies clawed and pulled on him.

Vinny and the other three ran out the back and hopped over the fence into the woods. Then he turned to the house, and remembered why he went in there. "......Im sorry....Im so sorry." he spoke under his breath. He went up to the filly with his glasses, and held his hand out. She gave them back to him, and he put them on. In he dark, the others didn't see the tears stream down his face.

After a couple minutes of endless walking in the woods, one of the fillies went and grabbed his hand.

"My name is Vanilla." she spoke, and looked up at him. "And Im fourteen years old. Whats your name?" she asked, with a small smile.

"My name is Vinny....And Im twenty six years old." he chuckled. "And your sister?" he asked, looking behind and saw the mare holding the sleeping filly.

"Cream. Same age." she smiled. Soon, Vinny picked her up. Then she fell asleep as well.
