It was going to be a normal day, with normal things. She was supposed to go in the kitchen sit down with her normal (ish) family, and eat a normal breakfast. But instead, she woke up to weird things flying away from Ponyville, and soemthing falling in a lake not to far from her house. Oh joy.

So, this is just a small story about how one of Doodle Bugs' friends came to be…Yea. She's a filly, just got her cutie mark, yada yada yada… Basically, around 12.

In the moonlight

Darkness washed over Ponyville, and all was silent. The streets were dimly illuminated by the street-lamps, that strangely flickered on and off with a terrifying quickness. A small swam of flying creatures flew over the town slowly, helping the smaller ones when their wings failed them. The biggest one in the swam, Slick, was holding a hatchling as she flew. "Now now, you have to fly one day."

"Not today..." He squeaked, staring at the ground with wide-eyes. "I'm scared..."

"That's normal, Flutter. It scary being so high up, but every Changeling must fly." Slick gave the Flutter a pat. That was his nickname, sadly. He was teased for it constantly, and it led to him being so scared of flying...Too much pressure can do awful things to four-day-olds...Slick sighed. The Queen warned her that if she didn't get him flying, he wouldn't be allowed to stay. "Flutter, you know I love you."

"Of course..."

"And I'm very sorry."

"For wha-" Flutter didn't get to finish his sentence before Slick dropped him. He tried screaming but no noise would come out. The wind whistled in his ears as he fell through the air, plunging straight towards the ground. He tried to flap his wings, but couldn't do much as he flailed. He thought of teleporting, trying to use magic. Anything, he wasn't that far from the ground. He screamed and shut his eyes, yelping as he felt someone catch him. He peeked open an eye, only to see his adoptive mothers disappointed face. She didn't say a word, and continued flying, paying more attention to the other hatchlings now. Flutter put his head against Slicks' chest, staying quiet.

As the night slowly started turning into day, the swam started to head back to the hive. Flutter clutched Slick and snuggled into her chest as she flew back to the hive. In her sleep-deprived state, she failed to notice Flutter slowly slipping down...

She failed to notice when he fell.

She even failed to notice when there was a splash below them, where the four-day-old hit the water, still asleep.

Doodle Bug felt Buster crawl up onto her chest. He licked her cheek and then sneezed on her. "Grosssss!" She groaned, pushing the dragon away, and covering her head. After a few minutes of not sleeping, she un-covered her head and looked at the clock. "...It's 6:00 AM...Haven't been awake this early since public school...." She slid off the bed, falling and face-planting before pushing herself up. She put on her slippers and glasses before shuffling to the window. Ponyville was so pretty early in the morning...She smiled and looked at the sky, her eyes-widening as her breath stopped suddenly. What was that? Her wings twitched in anticipation as she watched a swarm of black creatures fly away. She fluttered her wings and opened the window. "Mom won't notice I'm gone..." She ducked out the window and starting flying towards the things, stopping as one of them dropped something. She frowned and looked at the swarm then down at the thing. "...Darn you, curiosity..." She dove towards the thing that fell.
