Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Spike's Adventures in Duel Academy
Spooky Special: One Night at Crowler's
Previous ChapterNext ChapterCelestia's Aftermath
As the Solar Princess of this land, I have been through many events, but I've also made several mistakes, which would cost me my beloved. First, since I didn't pay attention while she fell through insanity and into the darkness, I lost my sister. Then, since I didn't care for her, answered those small questions like I did with Twilight Sparkle, I lost my prize pupil Sunset Shimmer. Now, since I wasn't there for you when you were alone, since I spent time at the events organized by the so-called Canterlot Elite instead of telling stories to you and preparing you to become prince, I lost you, my son. Spike, as a mother I beg for your forgiveness, for the eldest, no matter their past experiences and the knowledge they obtain in the aftermath, still make mistakes. I remember when Zarathos, ruler of the Dragon Realm, gave me your egg. He was dying, and your egg was the last of the civilized dragons. A new ruler by the name of Alduin led them for ages, until Timaeus, Hermos and Critias restored the realm, but in the end, Critias was lost in the final battle. If I am not wrong, your mother's name was Kisara, but she was killed by a group of thieves that were of my kind. As their punishment, she grew into a bright light, eradicating them with the purity of her soul. Son, if you are alive in a sense, please remember that I love you as a mother, and if possible, I wish to see you once more and read you a story, one of the legendary Swordmaster. You loved that story, yet you also loved playing the piano. I remember when you spent time with your grandmother, Fleur de Lis, Sapphire Shores and Photo Finish, back when you lived with me and time didn't matter. You learned to cook thanks to the chefs at the castle. You helped the maids and the butlers in your free time, yet my biggest mistake was sending you to Ponyville. I thought that you would learn about friendship, get acquainted with others, and even marry a mare when the time came, but you couldn't do so, for our thoughtless actions brought you your demise. As I sleep by your grave, I hope you can hear me Spike. Please forgive us all, for we learned the final lesson the most painful method that could ever be thought. I brought the storybook, just to read you a story every night. To begin, I shall read the first story I read to you from this book.
"There once was a young Spellcaster by the name of Stardust Phantom, who wanted to truly master the power of the stars..."
(Viewing is optional)
As she read, she remembered those beautiful moments with her son, and despite the tears those memories brought out, the book was undamaged, for she used her magic to protect this book from harm of any kind. The place was lonely, except for an old stallion with a shovel on his back and a hat that was similar to Roosevelt's.
"Mourning over your son?" He asked.
"How did you know?" She asked in return.
"I am the Caretaker."
Dr. Crowler's Office, Duel Academy
October 10th, 2:15 P.M.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Crowler," Spike said.
"Good afternoon Spike, what has brought you to my office today?" The Obelisk asked.
"I was wondering about the night shift you are offering at the warehouse, could you fill me in on it?"
"It is very simple indeed, Ra student: you have to spend a night over there, the shift is from 12 A.M. to 6, and the payment is promotion duel or some rare cards."
"That's it? Sounds fairly simple."
"Exactly, the challenging part is the power."
"Doesn't sound like something to worry about."
"Oh, you should. Anyways, here's the keys to the warehouse. Be careful, and have good day."
"Okay, thanks."
He doesn't know WHAT is waiting for him, hehehehehe.... Crowler thought to himself evilly.
Crowler's Warehouse, Forest
12:00 A.M.
We are now at the Warehouse, where Spike, his Duel Spirit friends and Alexis (who could only see the Dark Magician due to a difficult spell he pulled off to talk to her) were accomplishing the night watch job. And, as the cliché moment would bring, the phone rang, and a recording was heard.
"If you're hearing this, then you must be stupid enough to take the job. My name is Michael Schmidt, and as you can see, this is my final day. Check the cameras every once in a while, take care of the battery, and be careful with the animatronics, they do get frisky at night. Goodnight, and survive. *Beep.*"
"Um, uh, alright..." Spike said. "So Alexis, what brought you here?"
"Long story," she answered.
3:16 A.M
The battery was at 64 percent, and things were calm, until strange noises were heard.
"Spike, go and see what is going on. Take Mana with you," the Dark Magician, whose name was Mahado, said.
As Spike left with the Dark Magician Girl, Alexis proceeded to talk with Mahado.
"Why did you want me here in the first place?"
"It's about Spike, Alexis," the Spellcaster said.
"What's wrong with him?"
"You see, he is not what you think he is: he's a Dragon-blood, yet he has lived two miserable lives."
"What do you mean 'two miserable lives'?"
"Before getting here, He worked as an assistant and then a Librarian, but he wasn't noticed by his closest 'friends'. In the last few years of his life, he kept on working at the library until a terminal disease ended his life. His heart was weighed by Shadi and Anubis, and his heart was slightly heavierheavier than the Ma'at Feather due to his species' greed. As a reward, he was sent to this world, turned into a human and was given the Harpie deck. He has become familiar with this place, yet he is discriminated by the color of his first blazer and still lonely. What I'm saying is that, you Alexis, must treat him as a friend, for besides us and Professor Banner, you are his friend, and as his mentor, I care for him. His mother misses him in the Equine world, and as Yugi Muto's former guardian, I want you to be a true friend, one that will be there for him even when things may seem hopeless. In exchange, he will give you his loyalty, his honesty, his kindness, his generosity and his laughter. You are what he needs, and if things go as they seem, you two may become more than friends."
"You mean..."
"Yes, a couple. The first and last person he truly loved used his feelings for her own purposes, yet she went for someone else."
"I didn't know that, and that time I yelled at him I-"
"AHHHH!" a male scream could be heard in the distance.
"Spike!" The two exclaimed simultaneously.
