//-------------------------------------------------------// Daddy, Didn't You Ever Love Me? -by Twilight the unicorn- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Hi, I’m Twilight the unicorn, not to be confused with my cousin Princess Twilight Sparkle. Heh, Heh. Anyway, I’m sure you’re probably wondering about my dad, well I was, too. For the longest time, I always wondered that. And now I’ll tell you my story… It was a bright, sunny, morning in Fillydelphia, and (this is when I was a little filly) I was running over to go to the fair my good friend, Posey (who still is one of my good friends). She and her family were taking us. I was extremely excited, but then I suddenly stopped in my tracks. I remember looking down at a puddle and thinking: Why don’t I have a daddy like Posey? Her family is always happy, but my mommy and big sister are always busy. I had known that for a while, but it didn’t hit me, until then.  Then I suddenly thought of all my friends, and they all have a father figure in their lives, but not me. I didn’t have one. When I got to Posey’s house, (I had to stop there, so she and her family could take me there) I saw Posey, her mom, her dad, her big brother, and her big sister, were all ready for me. “Ready to go, Twilight?” Posey’s dad, Mr. Lightning asked. “Yes, sir, I am.” I sighed. “Is something wrong, sweetie?” Posey’s mom, Mrs. Sky Skimmer looked worried for me. “No, mam, I’m fine.” “Okay, can we go to the fair, now?” Skydancer complained. “Yes, we may,” Mrs. Sky Skimmer answered. And Mr. Lighting, Mrs. Sky Skimmer, Tex, Skydancer, Posey, and I walked on to the fair. It was pretty fun there, don’t get me wrong, but at the fair, I remember seeing at least fifteen foals with their dad; and every time I saw them, I felt like crying. When I got to my home, my mom was there waiting for me. “There you are,” my mom smiled. “Sorry, I couldn’t go to the fair with you and Posey’s family, Twilight; but I had a lot of work, today at the jewelry shop. You understand, right?” I hung my head. “Yes, Mommy, I understand.” “Why do you look so sad? Is something wrong, sweet pea?” “I don’t have a daddy,” I mumbled. “Huh? Twi, I can’t understand you, when you mumble. Could you say that again, please?” “I don’t have a daddy,” I said a little louder. “Did you say ‘daddy’?” Mom’s face looked worried. “Yes, mommy, that’s what I said.” “What about a ‘daddy’?” “I don’t have one, that’s why I said it, Mommy.” My mom looked sad and angered at the same time; I didn’t know why. There was a long silence before my mom broke it saying, “Sweetie, I’ll tell you why you don’t have a daddy, when you get older. You’re too young to understand.” After that, there was no talk about ‘daddy’ for a long while, though I wondered why my sister, (who is older than me by four years), always went to go and visit somepony, that I didn’t know. And last week, I decided to ask my sister. “Rainbow Flash, where are you going?” I asked her. My sister turned around from the doorway, and looked me in the eye. “You don’t want to know.” “Yes, I do want to know,” I felt my anger rise in me. “Look, Twilight, Mom doesn’t want you going were I’m going, okay?” Finally, I had enough of this craziness, and suddenly blurted out, without thinking, “Rainbow Flash, you have always, always, ALWAYS gone to that place, to visit that pony that I’m not supposed to know about, for all the seventeen years of my life, JUST TELL ME WHO THEY ARE, ALREADY!” Rainbow Flash lowered her head down low. “Twilight,” her voice was trembling. “I’m going to visit Daddy.” I felt my eyes grow wide, somehow a tear was able to slip out of my eye. I’d never thought, that I’d hear anything about my dad, or our dad, in that case. There was a sudden silence, so silent, you could hear a parasprite sneeze. My sister looked up from the floor, and gave me eye-to-eye contact. “I’m so sorry, Twilight…” she sighed. “I didn’t mean to hurt you in anyway at all.” I could still hear her voice trembling. “It’s okay,” I felt a lump of tears in my throat. “Just go visit Daddy, Rainbow. I won’t be upset. I promise.” Rainbow did a little tearful smile, although I could tell she was upset. She opened the creaking door, slowly, and trotted out of the house. I was left alone to cry in my mom’s house, I kept on trying to think, why my dad would never want to see me, but that only made my cry. I heard a soft little knock on the door, either it was Posey or my mom, because none of my other friends knock like that. I hid my head in my hooves, I was too sad to see anypony right then and there. The door squeaked open. “Sweetie, Mommy’s home,” I heard suddenly heard her stop in her tracks. I felt my mom put one of her soft hooves on my head. “What’s the matter, Twilight?” I sighed and looked up at my mom. “I found out where Rainbow Flash goes.” My mom had a concerned look on her face. She closed her eyes tight. “I know,” she said, she opened her teal colored eyes. “Your sister told me.” “When did she tell you?” I felt my eyes grow wide. “Your sister told me, when I saw her on the way to your dad’s house.” “Mom?” I felt like I needed to ask who my dad is. “Yes, sweet pea?” she pushed back a loose strand of her light blue, hot pink, and golden yellow locks. “Who is my dad anyway?” Mom looked up at the ceiling. “Well, since you’re much older now, I suppose I could tell you all that happened.” I noticed that my mom did not look too thrilled to tell me about my dad, but she said she was willing to. “Your dad is a unicorn named Thundercloud,” she began. “I met him a long time ago, at the Show Stable. I remember when I first saw him, he was a purple unicorn with a storm cloud cutie mark. He had a cerise and blue streaked mane, and his eyes were also cerise colored. He wasn’t very popular with the other mares, but I loved him. Thundercloud and I dated a lot, and soon he asked for my hoof in marriage. Of course I said yes, but your grandma Milky Way wasn’t too happy about it, though.” I was confused, but yet I was happy in a way; did Grandma Milky Way, already know what would happen in the future, or something? Oh, and if you’re wondering why I was happy, it’s because, if she knew what was gonna happen, then she would have saved my mom, a lot of heart ache. But then, I’m just plain confused. “Why didn’t Grandma like him?” I asked. My mom sighed, I could tell she was having a hard time telling me all this. “Because, she knew something was up with him, but I ignored my mom.” //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 Oh, so Grandma did know, I guess parents can be wiser than I thought they were. “So, why isn’t dad around anymore?” I accidentally said aloud. Mom sighed and made direct eye contact with me. “Your father and I wanted to have a foal, so we had your sister, Rainbow Flash. Your father told me that one foal was enough, but I wanted at least one more. But your father was so strict about it, I decided not to go against his wishes.” That sounded confusing to me. I mean, how could anypony exist without both a mother and a father? That’s not even scientifically possible. “So, how am I alive and existing, right now?” “Well…let’s just say you were the un-expecting, accident foal.” “Oh, well…that makes sense now.” “Yeah, but if you ask me, Sweetie, you look much more like your grandmother, than your dad. I mean just look at you,” Mom pointed at me. “You have my coat, which is the same as your grandma’s, you have her pretty violet eyes, and her white colored mane.” “But Grandma has blue streaks in hers, I have purple streaks instead.” “That, you got from your dad.” “Oh. But why did dad leave then?” “He was upset that I was expecting, so he divorced me.” Okay, that is just the stupidest reason to divorce anypony! He sounded like a jerk, too. No wonder Grandma didn’t like him! I have no reason at all NOT to disagree with her! “So, he doesn’t love me?” I felt my eyes tear up. “I don’t know what he thinks of you, that’s why I don’t let you visit, that no good stallion!” “Why do let Rainbow Flash go then?” “Because, the court gave him rights to see her.” “It’s all my fault, Mom. I wish I never would have existed.” “Don’t you dare say that, Twilight. You and your sister are my pride and joy. And I will always love you two, no matter what ever happens.” “Thanks, Mom.” Then Mom gave me a hug, and whispered, “I will always love you. Don’t you ever forget that.” Then she stood back and smiled, “You remind me so much of your grandmother. So sweet, and smart at the same time.” I felt my eyes water again, as I smiled back at her. “Twilight, when it comes time for you to marry the stallion of your dreams, I want you to make good decisions of your grandmother, not the same, wrong, mistakes as I did.” “Don’t worry, Mom, I will.” A week later, I got a visit from my awesome cousin from Ponyville, who is none other than the one and only Princess Twilight Sparkle. “Hello, Princess.” I bowed. “Oh, Twilight, there’s no reason to bow to me.” She giggled. I stood up, immediately. “Besides, your my cousin, so why should let you do it, anyway.” “Sooo, if you don’t mind me asking,” I said. “Why are you here? And where is your crown?” “Oh, I never wear my crown, I only wear it for when I have to do princess jobs. And the reason why I’m here is because your mom sent me a letter last Friday.” “Really?” I asked. I was curious why. “Yes, she did. She said something about you needing to be cheered up, so I came.” I have to admit, Twilight Sparkle and Mom were right. I had been feeling downtrodden lately. “So, anyway, Princess, where do you wanna go?” “It’s up to you, Cousin.” The alicorn smiled. “Okay, let’s go and visit my friends, I’m sure they’ll be glad to meet you.” We visited all my friends, and Princess Twilight didn’t mind, that Sparkler made her try on some new necklaces. That day just couldn’t get more perfect than that. A week later, I got an unwanted surprise. I was busy at my psychiatrist’s office, when a patient came in through the door. A purple stallion with a cerise and blue streaked mane walked in. I recognized him as nopony other than my dad! I knew it was him because I saw an old picture of him, and the storm cloud cutie mark was exactly the same. It really was him! “Um, hello,” I said, pretending not to know him. “Are you here for an appointment?” “Yes.” He answered, dryly. I tried to continue the same act. “And your name is…” I pretended to look at the paper with his information. “…is it Thundercloud?” “Why yes, it is.” “Then follow me,” I told him. I kept on wondering if he even recognized me. I led him to a chair, and I sat on another one; I faced his cerise eyes which looked very casual, but worried. “Soooooo, uh, what brings you here?” I chuckled nervously. “I came here because my wife wanted me to.” “I bet I know why she wanted you to come here,” I thought. “Because you’re nothing but a MORON!” I guess my facial expression went along with that thought, because my dad noticed right away. “I something wrong?” he asked. “Oh, uh, nothing! I mean, uh, why yes, yes, I’m extremely fine, thank you,” I lied to him. He looked at me, mysteriously. I had no idea what he was thinking then, but I just nodded my head, so he would believe me. “Okay…” he trailed off. “So,” I wanted to change the subject. “I have a few questions for you. First off tell me all about your family and especially your marriage.” When I said marriage, he looked around the room nervously. Okay, I got him right I wanted him to be. “And second,” I continued, with a smirk on my face. “What’s your wife’s reason for telling you to come here?” “Uh, um, well,” He looked extremely nervous. “You wanted to hear about my family, riiight?” I nodded my head, and I felt my face going into a satisfied smirk. Finally, he’ll get what’s coming to him! “Well, I have my wife, Diamond Glow, she’s the most beautiful unicorn that I’ve ever seen…” What?! My thoughts screamed. He remarried? I bet my mother is a thousand times more beautiful than she is! What the hay is wrong with you! While he was continuing his rambling about his “beautiful wife”, I felt my mane begin to frizz, and eye lids twitch slightly. I felt like I was gonna go insane and need a shirk of my own! “Do you have any foals or anything?” I felt my voice go up with insanity, and my irises and pupils start to become small. “Uh,” he looked scared of me. “Yes, I do. Three daughters, actually.” He laughed nervously. I mimicked his nervous laugh. “Oooooh, really? What are their names?” I felt my ears twitch. “Are you feeling alright?” he asked, his hooves cringed. “Yesssss,” I hissed at him. “Now, tell me about your daughters.” Okay, so now I looked officially insane to him, I’m sure of it. My dad’s eyes widen; and yeah, I was freaking him out with that face. “Well, my oldest, who is my step daughter from another marriage, is named Rainbow Flash. She lives at her mother’s house…” Oh! So you call my mom her mother, but not your ex-wife?! My thoughts yelled. You really are an idiot, aren’t you?! You…you, lame jerk! “…and then there’s my second oldest,” he continued. “Her name is Silver Swirl, and she looks a lot like my beautiful wife; and she can’t go anywhere without her baby dragon assistant, Smokey.” My beautiful wife this, my beautiful wife that! UGH! No wonder Grandma couldn’t stand you! And I personally wouldn’t blame her, either! “And last but not least…” He’d better not forget me! If not I’ll scream and go even more insane! “…my youngest daughter, Wingsong; and she looks a lot like me.” He smiled proudly. What the HAY?! WHO THE HAY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, MR. PROUD MOUTH?! Alright, I’ve had enough of being Ms. Nice Mare, you want Ms. Nice Mare, then you’re gonna get Ms. Nice Mare! “So, do you have any other foals from your other marriage?” I heard an angry tone rise in my voice. “Well…” he trailed off, again! “Alright!” I had enough of this game. “Look at me, and look at me closely!” My dad narrowed his eyes, as if he were studying hard. “You see this!” I pointed to my pink coat. “My mother and grandmother have the exact same color of coat I got from them!” He had a blank look on his face. “And do you see my horn?” “Yes, I do. Is this some sort of test?” “Yes, now anyway, both of my parents are unicorns, so that’s why I’m one, too.” “Okay, I can…uh see.” “And this white colored mane is from my grandmother.” My dad nodded, stupidly, and continued to look at me closely. “And my grandma, also has these violet colored eyes.” “Yes, I see, but not to be rude or anything, but why are you telling me this?” “I’ll tell you in a minute, now anyway, look at these purple streaks in my mane and tail, just look at it!” Dad looked closely. “You know who I got those streaks from? I got them from you!” My dad looked nervous and fidgeted his hooves. “I’m your other daughter from your first marriage.” My dad looked around the room and looked straight at me. Tears welled up in my eyes. “Daddy, didn’t you ever love me?” He was quiet; and a tear fell from his eye. Finally, he spoke up, “I left because I didn’t have enough money back then and-“ “That’s it!” I seriously felt like I was gonna explode. ”What kind of father are you?! You, your…your just nothing but a traitor, and a mindless moron! That’s what you are! No wonder Grandma never liked you!” He looked at me with tears in his eyes. “I’m sorry, I ever did this to you, Twilight.” I couldn’t believe he actually remembered my name! But I was still upset at him. “Will, you ever forgive me?” I looked at him and felt my mixed emotions stab me. “First I wanna ask you something, Dad.” “Yes, Twilight.” “Did you ever love me?” He sighed heavily and answered, “I was too upset to love anypony, and I was stupid.” You sure were, I wanted to tell him. But I didn’t. I saw how upset he was. “I, forgive you, Daddy.” I suddenly burst into tears, and my dad embraced me in a warm hug.
