Ambrosia & Myxine - Sinful friendship
Every pony knows the Everfree Forest nearby of Ponyville. A forest filled with monsters, myths and they say it even its own mind. However, there are many other mystic places scattered all over in Equestria no pony ever dares to enter by its own accord or any protection in any sort. One place is the Jungle in the southern tropical areas of Equestria; the place only a few know by his real name: “The White Tail Jungle“. Many daring Explorer and Treasure-Hunters lost themselves in that untouched natural Maze of a Jungle. Only few returned and reported about strange creatures lurking in the darkness with golden eyes piercing through the darkness of those shadows coming from the gigantic closely standing trees. It’s said they are ancient spirits which protect the Jungle from intruders. But no pony knows the Truth behind those mystical creatures, though you might consider them more “strange” than mystical.
Since the failed Canterlot Wedding coup d’état caused by Queen Chrysalis and her outstanding huge army of shape shifting Changelings the security in Equestria tightens a lot to prevent another fiasco by those dangerous love-draining creatures. Equestria seems safe from Changelings, for now.
But how does it look from the other hooves? Changelings are indeed parasites compared to ponies. Unable to love, yet they need it to survive so they pretend to be a beloved member of a couple, a family member or even a fallen beloved friend to gain their life-source.
What no pony knows is that there are more than just Chrysalis herself and her changelings. Actually there are dozens of hives existing all across the world no pony knows about.
These so called “hives” with each of a Queen of their own are anything but friendly neighbors who share their food. Among all hives there are no more or less than five who oppose all other hives in every aspect. Many horrid battles happened between those hives for the needs of power, territory and food. It’s not a rare case that many changeling drones use their ability to disguise to sneak into nearby hives to get Intel or even sabotage them.
A young Queen of a small hive located in Horseshoe Bay is on her way through the dangerous Jungle where many Explorers get lost, never to return. Her name is Myxine, Queen of the Hagfish Hive. Even when her hive is not as big as the one of Chrysalis’s, she is a brilliant strategist and very focused on her duties as a Queen.
Her eyes are sharp, always watching her surroundings closely while she sneaks further and further into the deeper parts of the jungle. “It must be here somewhere...” she mumbled to herself. It’s getting dark in the Jungle, but not because of the Sunset, but of the shadows of the trees. The further she goes the darker and closer the shadows get. “It’s almost like its night” she mumbled again after she walked for around a half hour inside the forest. “Damn Honeycombs... A bunch of lunatics… And their Queen is the biggest lunatic of them all. When I get my hooves on her, I’ll-“she angrily mumbled when she suddenly got interrupted by the sound of shaking leafs nearby.
Her eyes dilated and she got in position to be prepared for any encounter. Her sapphire blue eyes searched around the area quickly but she couldn't pinpoint from where the sound came from. She lowered her body to get some cover under the tall plants surrounding her.
Her view changed up to the treetops which completely covered the sky and just let a few sunbeams get through. She then saw what made the noise from before: it was an emerald green snake crawling on the treetops, looking for prey. Myxine closed her eyes and took a slight breath of relief, “Calm down Myxine. It’s just a Snake. They haven't spotted you yet,” She convinced herself.
CRACK
Out of nowhere a huge shadow with tall green brimming eyes jumped down from the treetop, right at Myxine.
Shocked she stared in those green eyes. Quickly she tried to avoid the attack but it was too late. The tall shadow jumped on her and pressed the Hagfish Queen forcefully down onto the ground. Her chest hit the muddy ground roughly as her four legs and her chin. “Dammit!” she barked when she tried to shake the assaulter of her. “Let me go at once! I have no time for this! I need to-“ She got interrupted by the sight of a levitating flower in front of her face. The bloom was surrounded by a mysterious yellow Aura. Before Myxine was able to struggle once more, the flower got forcefully squeezed on her face. It was a nauseous smell which penetrated her nostrils. She tried to shake it off but it was futile. She couldn't talk either. The bloom completely covered her Nose and her Mouth.
“Shhh... there there, this will calm you down” It was a female voice which came from the shadow who assaulted her. Before Myxine realized who that person could be she started to feel weaker and weaker... and then sleepy. Her eyes slowly closed and her consciousness faded.
“Hey!”
Myxine heard that voice again. It was familiar to her. She once heard that voice before. She slowly started to wake up. Her eyes were still shot. She was feeling weird and still sleepy.
“Wake up, sleepyhead!”
She slowly opened her eyes; her vision was a bit blurry from that unwanted nap. She only saw the silhouette of something tall and black standing in front of her.
“Gosh, that flower really got you good, eh Myxi?”
She tried to rub her eyes with her hooves to get a clearer vision but she was not able to. It seemed like her hooves were stuck to the ground. That voice, she thought. “You...” the Hagfish Queen hissed when she was able to see clearly who was standing in front of her.
Ambrosia, the Queen of the Honeycomb Hive stood next to her. Her long blonde mane touched the Ground and her big bilious green eyes stared at her captive. She had a big smile and seemed to be pretty happy.
“Wow, how long has it been? Twelve years?”
Myxine tried to move but her legs were hold by some strange gooey contraptions clinging on the ground.
“Ambrosia!” she barked “I don't have time for your Games! Tell me where you hold them!”
She glared at the Honeycomb Queen while she struggled.
Ambrosia rolled her eyes and sighed “You haven't changed a bit, I see-”
“WHERE DO YOU KEEP MY SUBJECTS!!!?” She yelled at Ambrosia. The voice echoed through the thicket. Her pupils narrowed as she focused her magic in her horn to attack her captor.
When she was about to unleash a magical surge on her it simply vanished. The magic in her horn lifted. She tried again and again but it was futile.
Even after getting harshly yelled it didn't phase Ambrosia one bit.
“No need to waste your strength or magic. That goo is strong enough to trap an Ursa Minor. As for your magic, I sealed it off. No magic for you today, Myxi”
Myxine still struggled regardless of Ambrosia’s explanation. It was futile, she was like a fly glued on duct tape. She tried to calm down as she realized that getting angry gets her nowhere in this type of situation.
“What do you want from me, Ambrosia?” she asked calm and monotone.
“Oh, you ask me what I want from you. Heh, funny. I could ask you and your subjects the same Question. You know this is my realm you intruded” she countered with a funny voice while she cocked her head to express her wondering even more.
Myxine looked away from Ambrosia and stared on the ground. “It’s none of your business. But I can assure you; we meant no harm to you or your Hive”
“Not very convincing” she peeped “It DOES seem to be of my business when you were wandering around here, right?”
The Hagfish Queen once again glared at Ambrosia, a moment of silence and then she sighed.
“When I tell you, will you let me and my subjects go?” she asked.
Ambrosia shrugs slightly and made an “agreeing” humming sound simultaneously.
“I’m sure you are aware of Miasma’s past activities?” Myxine asked ahead.
“Oh! Holey Face! Yeah I do! Chrysalis even sought shelter in my Hive for a while to make her move against her. She was a real pain in the flank, though. What about Mia?”
She seemed to be quite interested in that topic. It was hard to tell if she was trying to mock Myxine or if she was serious with her childish behavior. But the Hagfish Queen tried her best to ignore her grotesque gestures and continued.
“I was sending a Squad of my Soldiers to Miasmas Hive to keep an eye on any strange activities. To ensure she isn't trying to take over our hives again. The safest way was through the white tail jungle instead using the direct route to Manehattan to maintain cover. That’s why they tried to pass peacefully through. We are in truce after all.”
“Mhhh...” she mumbled “Thats true and yes, I WOULD had let them pass if they were treating me with a bit respect. They were quite mad at me when I was just saying hello to them. One of them gave me a few dozen names, that one was quite insulting. So I took care of them.”
“Tell me what you did to them!” Myxine returned to that topic when she realized she answered Ambrosia's question more than enough.
“Don't you worry! I didn't have that much time to deal with them anyway. I kept them a bit further to my hive. I wanted to send a messenger to you so you can pick them up”
Myxine made quite a confused face “When that’s the case, why do you keep me pinned here?! Let me see them! I told you everything you wanted to know, right!?” she asked indignant.
“Well how should I know you were here for them and not something else? I just said I had sent a messenger to inform you! You might have spied on me!” Ambrosia pouted.
Myxine moaned, rolled her eyes and sighed afterwards. She even tried to give herself a face hoof but then she forgot her hooves were glued down to the ground. She shacked her head instead and said, “All those years and you haven't started to make sense since then...” in an annoyed tune.
“Hey, since I happen to know that you put your nose in other Queens Hives you can't really blame me, can you?” Ambrosia replied harshly.
“Unlike you I care about the safety of Changeling-Kind as well. Miasma's and Chrysalis's actions almost exposed our very existence to the Pony Princesses! What if Celestia would find out there are more than just Chrysalis subjects as changelings around? She would exterminate all of us! Also, for crying out loud, since Chrysalis asinine attempt to take over Canterlot, it got much harder for all of us to get food to survive as it already was. My hive barely scrapes the bottom of the barrel while yours drowns in it from all those crazy explorers you seduce with your belly dancing and your hungry eyes!” Myxine ranted a bit to make her point.
“Don't you mock my methods, Myxi! They work just fine! And since when do YOU care for all other Hives Mrs-Oh-So-Caring” Ambrosia glared at Myxine which looks a bit off with her childish gesture. She also moved her head right in front of Myxine’s face; a few inches more and her nose would touch Myxine’s.
“You're too close!” Myxine snarls.
“Oh I am SO sorry Mrs-Oh-So-Ca-” she moved back and made quite a snobby ignorant but still childish gesture.
“Stop calling me that!!” Myxine shouted “And let me and my Subjects go now!”
A short silent pause occurred.
The Honeycomb Queen oddly stared at Myxine’s face when she suddenly started giggling. She sat herself on her hind legs and moved her front legs towards to her mouth to cover it. She tried to hold it in but it bursted out in laughter.
The Hagfish Queen was confused “What is so funny? I demand you to let me and my soldiers go!”
Ambrosia was laughing now even louder. She pushed her Hooves against her chest and let herself fall on the back to the ground. She rolled over and kept on laughing.
“Are you out of your mind!? I said-” Myxine shouted before Ambrosia interrupted her.
“It’s... It's.... Ahahahhaha.... It's exactly like when were... ahaha... back when we were fillies! We both argued all the time and you always start to blush when you got angry!” Ambrosia continued with her quite annoying laughter.
Myxine was indeed blushing. “Yeah, fine! Whatever! Let me and my Subjects go! NOW!” Myxine replied harshly. She turned her face away from to hide her blushing.
Ambrosia pulled herself together and stood up; she moved her left hoof up to her mouth, where a hole was in her leg. She pressed it against her mouth and used it like a whistle. It made a strange sound; almost like a mystic Flute. A short moment later out of the treetops a young changeling drone appeared who was standing on the branches.
“You called, my Queen?” the yellow-eyed changeling asked.
“Hey Platan. Fast as ever! How ya doin' buddy?” Ambrosia looked up to him and seemed pretty excited and happy to see her subordinate.
“Uhm... im doing fine, my Queen. How can I help you?” He seemed a bit embarrassed after that warm welcome of his Queen.
“Take a Squad and lead the captive Hagfish Drones out of my territory! If they make a wrong move...” She looked at Myxine with a phlegmatic eye “... I guess you know what I’m getting at... and...” she added something but it was too quiet to understand it.
“At once, my Queen” Platan replied as he jumped from branch to branch deeper into the jungle.
“This might take a while. My hive is a few yards away from here where they are being held. So I’ll keep you here till they are gone quietly. Once they are out, I will lead you out of here as well. I want to ensure they don't make a mistake they might regret” Ambrosia glared at her and smirked.
“Tsk. You can’t faze me. They are not that foolish to risk their lives in enemy's territory” Myxine answered cold.
Ambrosia eyes got huge after her words “Enemies? You consider me an enemy? Oh that is low, Myxi. I thought we were still friends after all these years” The Honeycomb Queen’s attitude and character changed unusually fast from ice cold to worried.
“That was a long time ago.” Myxine said, “Things have changed a lot since then. We're both Queens of our own Hives now. There is no time or place for sentiment.” she said harshly.
There was a pause for some minutes. Both of them looked on the ground and were quiet.
Then Ambrosia turned her face away from Myxine, closed her eyes and sighed.
Myxine opened her eyes a bit further and looked surprised at Ambrosia. She started to blush again. She felt a bit guilty for her old friend’s depression. She never looked so down like that, she remembers. Even that she still was trapped, she knows that she is free to go once her subjects are outside. She looked one more time at Ambrosia, takes a deep breath and started to talk.
“I... I think that was a bit mean. It’s just I am a Queen of a much smaller Hive then yours. We barely have food to almost make a living. I have so many things to take care about, to plan about and to work on just so we can barely survive. I... I think I’m just mad at you because you have so much with so little effort. I... do remember the time when we both were little fillies and our Mothers were still alive. When we both were just naive and free of duties... those were better days. What I'm trying to say is I didn't want to make you sad with that harsh answer of mine. I apologize.”
“It’s okay, you are quite a hard working Queen after all. And I respect you for that. I really do.” Ambrosia nodded and smiled.
Her green eyes started to examine Myxine from head to hoof “You've really grown... not only that you really look quite lovely as well” Ambrosia suddenly added. The Hagfish Queen was quite surprised by those words out of Ambrosia’s mouth.
“Ehm... thanks... I guess.” She had no idea how to react to a compliment like that, so she just took it without making a fuss. After all she was still trapped. Once my soldiers are out of the jungle and Ambrosia lets me free, I’m out of here. This is getting awkward she thought to herself.
Myxine was still trapped in thoughts and doubts about her current situation. Hopefully my Subjects are fine… suddenly Ambrosia interrupted her thoughts entirely.
“Are you a virgin?” she cocked her head and stared at Myxine. Like before, she showed some unusual big curiosity.
The Hagfish Queen dropped her jaw and started to blush once again. This time it covered almost her entire face. Her eyes were wide open and her ears were pointing straight up. “W-Why... Why do... Why would you ever... ask me... that?” she stuttered.
Ambrosia cocked her head once again, remaining her sight on Myxine. “Some satisfaction might help you to relax a bit from all your hard work. You are always are so serious and grumpy. You really need to let it all out before you overdo yourself”
“S-Sa-Satisfaction?” the hagfish Queen replied with a shaky voice “I-I’m fine... no really. I’m fine. I am fine. Yep, I’m totally fine!” Myxine looked nervous at Ambrosia.
“So are you a virgin or not?” she asked more eagerly.
Myxine almost seemed to choke after being asked the same Question again. She tried to think about a way to get off that topic but she remembered that when Ambrosia's curiosity goes through with her, nothing can stop her from solving her wondering. Ambrosias mouth formed a smile, bigger and bigger till she opened her mouth to smile even brighter. “That is so cute!” She squeaked delightfully!
“Why would you ask me something so obscure like tha- Whaaah!!?” Myxine was caught off guard when she realized that the sticky Goo on her forelegs lifted. Ambrosia seemed to use her magic to liquefy the goo on her hooves. It dripped on the ground and formed a small yellow puddle underneath her.
“Are you freeing me?” Myxine asked with relief. She tried to move her hind legs but they were still stuck to the ground, still covered in that sticky goo. The hagfish Queen started to shake her hind legs but it was useless. She still was not free yet. Her sapphire blue eyes glared at Ambrosia
“Are you freeing me now or not?!”
“Oh! Not yet.” The honeycomb Queen giggled “We got a lot time till Platan returns from duty. We're here all alone now. I wanna show you something, Myxi....” she slowly walked towards the still trapped Queen. Her green eyes looked down at her captive and she seemed to be exited.
“Wha... what are you doing!? You said you wouldn't harm me! This is a decadence of war if my hive finds out what happened to me!” The Queen shouted nervous. Myxine made a jump to fly of the goo-trap, but it was so sticky that she ended up falling backwards instead. She landed on her flank but managed to keep her torso upright by pushing her front legs behind her back from the ground.
Ambrosia moved slowly closer at her, she was just smiling, looking down at her.
Myxine got desperate and struggled crawling backwards. She realized that her front legs stuck to the goo again. She was fully trapped once again. Her heart was bumping faster and faster!
“STOP IT! She barked... no response. She had an idea what is going to happen now. Ambrosia is into that cruel torturing stuff to still her boredom. I will be the next Myxine thought in panic. She shut her eyes and was prepared for the worst...

The honeycomb Queen seemed to be surprised “Wow... how did you figure that out...?”
“I know you Ambrosia... you would never do something like...” she tripped over that thought and blushed “THAT when you knew it would take so long. Also you whispered something to that Platan guy before you sent him off”
“Ehehe... you got me” she nervously giggled “I must hand it to you. Nobody was that good in breakdowns like you. You are a genius, Myxi” she added.
Myxine blushed even more now. “Sh-Shut up!” she barked.
They walked for a few couple minutes quietly through the dark jungle. Myxine was looking around with a sharp eye.
“Calm down. The wild animals are too scared of my presence. They don't even dare come out when I’m around” Ambrosia sighed.
Myxine looked surprised at Ambrosia “This jungle is filled with monsters and timber wolves. What did you do to scare them off from you so much?!”
Ambrosia was laughing “Have you ever seen me mad?” she asked Myxine and smiled at her like it’s a normal Question.
“Uhm... no?” She really thought hard and that was right, she never witnessed Ambrosia losing her temper.
“Well, it’s a long story but chapter one: they killed a few of my Children in front of my face...” she sounded a bit more serious now.

“Thank you, I don't like to talk about that... makes me really... jumpy...” Ambrosia stood still and glared at something in the distance. A short second later whatever there was, ran away fast.

“Let’s get going” interrupted Ambrosia. She was carelessly happy again and walked forward.
After a couple more minutes they finally left the jungle.
“Here we are, Myxi” the Honeycomb Queen said.
“My Queen!” “Queen Myxine”
A few voices nearby in the dark were hearable. And six changelings with blue brimming eyes galloped at the two Queens.
“My Queen, are you alright?” one of them asked worried.
“I’m fine, what about you and your Team?” Myxine replied to her Subjects.
“Same here, my Queen. When we heard that those Honeycomb bastards told us their Queen captured you, we were worried about you. But they told us when we go quietly their Queen will let you go. We had no other chance so we obeyed their offer,”
“Watch your tongue, solider!” Myxine barked at him. “Their Queen is among us if you haven't noticed yet!”
She turned her head and looked at Ambrosia. “Let me guess. It was this one?” she asked annoyed.
“Eh... yes” Ambrosia replied, yet a bit surprised that Myxine is defending her right now.
She turned back to her Soldier “If you had been more polite and tolerant towards her, you team hadn't been in that problem in the first place”
Myxine also realized if he hadn’t screwed up on Ambrosia, she wouldn't have come to her to end up being humiliated by Ambrosia. She started to blush faintly.
The soldier seemed to be shocked “I-I’m so sorry my Queen. I’m awaiting your punishment...” he was bowing down to her.
“You don't need to apologize to me. Apologize to her” Myxine pointed at Ambrosia.
“B-But... my Queen... I...” the soldier stuttered.
“That is an order, Soldier! Or I will let you hunt sharks down the coast for the rest of your life!” Myxine yelled at him.
The other Changelings were completely quiet and scared by their own Queen. After such a major bollocking... who could blame them however?
The cowering changeling drone turned to Ambrosia and bow down to her like he did to Myxine before “I apologize for my disrespectful disposition. My personal grudge against your kind blinded my reasoning” he humbled.
“Forgiven” Ambrosia smiled and moved her hoof like she was winking that thought away.
“My Queen. We need to return to the Hive immediately. The others were worried about your safety” one of the other Changelings answered.
“Yes, we will leave right now. Just give me a minute alone with Queen Ambrosia. Alone!” Myxine demanded.
“As you wish” The drones moved forward a few couple meters and waited together for their Queen.
“So... this is it right?” Ambrosia sounded a bit sad. It reminded Myxine at the last time twelve years ago they departed.
“Yeah...” Myxine mumbled. She hoped that Ambrosia wouldn't make a fuss now and start crying or something. It was hard for herself too. If her subjects weren't there to see this, she wouldn't have to be so harsh right now...
“Good bye, Ambrosia...” she turned away and was about to join the others.
“Wait!” Ambrosia squeaked “Before you go... can I ask you something, Myxi?”
Myxine stood still and waited for Ambrosias question...
“What... what am I for you?” her voice sounded like she was about to cry “a friend?... or... a fiend?”

The Hagfish Queen was quiet and stood still. She was thinking for a moment...

She turned around to Ambrosia, who looked back to her with wide open eyes.
“Let me tell you something Ambrosia... no matter how our hives will turn out under our reign... or how much hatred they will have one another... no matter what happens...”
She walked at Ambrosia and suddenly stretched out her hoof

The honeycomb Queen was shaking... her mouth was making some weird movements... her eyes were watering... she tried to hold her tears back. She reached out her own hoof and wanted to bump it against Myxine’s when suddenly Ambrosia couldn't hold back and hugged her instead.

“Right” Myxine nodded and turned around to join her Subjects.

The hagfish Queen joined her subjects and left. Ambrosia stood there and waited till they were out of sight.
“This is a promise” Ambrosia said and turned around back into the jungle.
Myxine and her Soldiers were up in the sky, flying towards the Horseshoe Bay, back to their Hive. The wind was cold and strong. The sky was cloudy, only the Moon was brighten up the world now.
