Nine years ago three kingdoms of Equesteros rose in rebellion against the tyranny of Mad Queen Chrysalis. After four months of civil war, the reign of the Three Sisters was shattered. In its stead, a new dynasty was forged. King Cast Iron, the first of his mane, ascended upon the Horseshoe Saddle, uniting the realm once more. Some branded him usurper, others swore fealty to the new king with pride, assured his victory was the will of Harmony itself. But no matter how hard a pony tries, history has a tendency to repeat itself.

With the Seven Kingdoms of Equesteros on the verge of collapse, several plots emerge that threaten to shake the very foundations of power, all orchestrated by a complex network of lies and controlled chaos. The fate of the realm lies in the hooves of Lady Applejack, the recently appointed Hoof of the King. As her honest virtues are tied down by the burdens of her new position, she must unravel a conspiracy that endangers both her family and every corner of Equesteros.
