'It doesn't matter...these ponies.....they remind me of the old days though.....they remind me of the countless others that I met before them...the Innocent Ones were like just them, not...what's the word....a quadruped, they weren't like these one's in shape, oh no they were most certainly not. This place...the forest is so beautiful...and dark, God how Alaina loved the dark.' He shifted his weapon to the other side of his back as it was leaving a nagging pinch on his skin. 'Oh Alaina...it's been so long. You've passed but eons ago, yet you stay with my ancient conscience like the sea does the coast. We were able to keep you going for a few million years. But everything dies...everything dies. Mmmmm the Yellow One reminds me of when I first met you...so shy, fragile, innocent, and....and beautiful.' He shifted again but this time his old duster which was mostly clean, except for some trail dust at its tips. 'Hmmm...never thought I'd be comparing my wife...to a pony...how....rather sad actually...' He thought an amused grin growing on his complexion. He adjusted the gas mask upon his face.Which he has had on since his wife's death, the filter he was able to keep from decaying or dusting. 'Troublesome' and 'not worth it' it seemed to him at the time. Were the straps tightened over his felt raw, numb and itchy. But he had some hard learned discipline in him, and was able to push it to the back his mind. 'Fluttershy...that's the ponies name...strange coincidence on the parents part....well....everything here is actually..........now I'm really insane....well better to pretend there's a sitcom in my head, rather than just be lonely and sane.....wow...my mind wanders a lot it seems.' He got up from large slab stone he was sitting on left for the deeper bowels of the Everfree. Looking all round as he walked he saw small animals scurrying from bush to bush, following the curios creature along the tiny path. That led to a nice, smaller creature that had fed them when they were hungry or nursed them when sick, so seeing this they continued as the creature leisurely walked along the small path whistling a small 6 note tune. 'It is beautiful here in Equestria... not a lot of places can really compare to the valley's and lake's of this land.Things always seem really quiet here as well....nice....and........air.........shitshitshitshitSHITSHITSHITSHIT' This was it, he couldn't take it any longer. He shook the helmet off his head revealing thick short brown hair.Next he produced a small butterfly knife from inside his duster and cut the straps off his mask, once off he chucked it as far away from as he could, throwing it on top of one the trees surrounding him and the path. The man swallowed air for first time in ages...for some reason the air tasted something good after all this time. He wouldn't hide himself anymore, he wanted out of his manic depression, he flopped to ground just laying there looking up into the sky. Staring up into the clouds he saw the thing's that defined him, the thing's that made him who he was and he was both proud and disappointed in the feats and insane moments of his entire life.It played back to him in a day. Just the as soon as he saw the star's rolling round the sky he stood up gripped his helmet and took off to his dwelling. ~~ 'My god I've been living in this amazing place and not once have I been up here!' Standing on top of the roof of the cobblestone palace was where he felt he needed to be.He knew he wouldn't sleep. After all... he doing something rather amazing tomorrow...well amazing for him. Which is why he was shouting at the sky. 'Watching the moon rise in this dimension really is breath-taking and I cant help but feel when this moon sets and the sun rises that I'll just be a new man.....sure, things really suck but living in the moment is what she would have wanted for me.' The man said nostalgically. 'It was and soon what I always will be doing....living....just....in pony land...for a while. The man sat down and decided to close his eyes for a moment, but then quickly fell asleep after having a gush emotion come out of him after millennium of bottling up. ~~ I groggily opened my eyes, before clenching them tight. It was bright as hell for some reason. It took me a few minutes but I finally was able to open them. Things started rushing to my head, memories of last night's happenings went on in my head as I soon realized why I was here. I stood up and raced down the steps to the ancient (yet oddly pristine) bedroom to gather my pack. 'Actual conversation will take place this day!' I screamed happily in my head. Once done packing my art journal and other personal's I head out to the palace doors. Literally shaking with excitement but able to walk with dignity. *5 minutes later* The walk through the autumn trees was pleasant, and joyous because the animal's-that were once terrified and cautious of me-were now dancing circle around me.I took off my helmet and leveled it to a strange sapient rabbit I've gotten to know over the past 2 years it seemed (for once) happy and....expectant? ....... Of course, because Fluttershy is their caretaker. They all seem to feel the joy that I appear to be radiating off on to them. I set the bunny back down, but this time I put the helmet in my pack. And continued walking down the narrow path. Passing by the "Trees with faces" and other landmark's I have noted over time. Finally after what seemed like a million miles of walking I reached a familiar hill. Jogging, leaving behind the animal's I made my up the small hill and reached the top. 'Wow' Ponyville (the pun name I had given the small village) was a flame with activity. Pegasi, were pushing clouds, the rest were out and about chatting, or bartering. And a distant apple orchard could be seen a mile or two on the outskirts. I looked to my left and saw Flutteshy's cottage (which currently had some animal's even a BEAR outside it) I turned to it and took a deep breath, and started to walk for the front door. 'They are all happy, warm, safe and...stubborn when I do meet them, they will likely fear, resent or even might hate me just for saying 'Hello' but....... It doesn't matter. '
