Consumed by the shadows, swallowed whole by the darkness? Does this darkness have a name...is it your name? Month: December, 1st day of the First Snow Year: 2809 AD I continued my walk up to Canterlot, a wave of nervousness seemed to wash over me. 'I hope I didn't do anything wrong.' I mumbled. Celestia only called in guards that were of the strongest classes which were, speed, knowledge, strength, strategy, and magic. I didn't know which to worry about so I was panicking. Practically SCREAMING, in fear and curiosity. I stopped trotting when I came to my destination. I didn't know what to expect inside of the castle when I walked in, the state Equestria was in right now I wouldn't have been surprised if the Nightmare Soldiers had infiltrated the castle. "H-hello?" I asked, my voice seemed to echo across the dark humid hallway, just in case I was to be ambushed I drew my retractable spear out of my metal saddlebag and placed it under my wing, I walked through the hallway careful of how much noise I made, my hooves made silent clops through the dark hallway as I walked, my only light was the moonlight that shone through the windows. At last after what felt like hours of walking through the castle I found my destination. The large double-door that lead to the throne room, I placed my yellow hooves on the door and pushed it open with all of my strength. I noticed that the throne room wasn't lit at all, save for a small candle right beside the throne. "Princess?" I asked as I walked up to the throne. A yellow aura surrounded the candle, the flame on the candle floated off and split in two before it flew across the ceiling of the room, lighting up the whole room with the candles lining the ceiling the fire's gentle glow revealed the whole room had Pegasus and Changeling guards. I looked over to the throne and I saw princess Celestia herself sitting on the throne. I lowered my head in a bow to the leader of Equestria. "There is no need for that My Little Pony." Celestia stated calmly as she stood from her throne and walked toward me. "Now, do you understand why I called you here?" I stood up and shook my head. "I figured that your general wouldn't tell." She sighed. "Sparky, I am sending you to the Tree of Harmony to gather the Elements of Harmony." She instructed. I jumped back in fear. "Wait WHAT?! But that's in the Everfree and-" Celestia interrupted me when she put a hoof to my mouth. "I know about how dangerous the Everfree forest is, but I saw your training in The Academy, you might be the one pony that can help stop the war." She lit her horn in its golden aura and placed something in my saddlebag. "That is the map for the Everfree forest, and just in case you get into trouble I am sending your friend FrostBite with you." She looked up to something that was heading right toward us. It was heading down at a speed that was almost as fast as the element of Loyalty. It landed between me and the princess with ice shards flying at both of us I lifted my wing to stop my face from being impaled but instead of pain I just felt a cold chill on my wing, after looking I noticed that there was a coat of frost on my wing which I brushed off with my hoof. I looked forward to see my friend FrostBite. (Check out his page :) "Hey wassup." FrostBite said. "I didn't know you were in the Royal Guard too." I said to my friend who just nodded turning to me. "I joined a few days after graduating." FrostBite said as we both looked to Celestia. "Why are you sending FrostBite with me princess?" I asked. Celestia just smiled and lead us out the door. "I'm sending him with you, Sparky, you may have combat experience but you can't take on the creatures of Everfree forest alone, FrostBite I trust that you will keep him safe." FrostBite nodded. "I will, princess." FrostBite promised. "And return in one piece. I'll be devastated if you suffered the same fate as Twilight Sparkle." We both nodded at the request from Celestia and left out the door. "Sparky." I turned in Celestia's direction. "In the Everfree you will be confronted with somepony even more frightening and dangerous than the Nightmare Soldiers, he will try to stop you but dont listen to him. Do you understand?" Celestia asked. My nervous demeanor changed to a look of pure bravery. "Uh huh!" I nodded. "Good, goodluck Sparky." I turned around and left. *Third person* "You're going to need it." Celestia said as she watched Sparky and FrostBite leave. *-_-* We both continued our trot over to the Everfree forest. I got ready pull out my map to see what we had to go against but instead I felt my hoof touch against a rectangular stone. "What the-" I muttered pulling it out of my bag. In my hoof, I saw a glowing crystal about the size of a book. I didn't notice that FrostBite was standing in front of me, until he spoke up. "No...Bucking...Way." I jumped at the sound of his voice. "Do you know what this is?" I asked. FrostBite nodded furiously. "It is a crystal map it produces a hologram of the area your in, Celestia must trust you a lot to give you this kind of map." I looked at the map as I remembered Celestia's very words. "Come back in one piece, I'd be devastated if you suffered the same fate as Twilight Sparkle" *End of chapter 1*
