Chapters SugarSong woke up, when she noticed that she wasn’t in her bed, she tried to remember what had happened last night, then it came back, the bright brown stallion, the black coated stallion with a red mane, what was his name again? RainChaser? ThunderFlash? RainFlash? RainFlash! right! she glanced over at the clock, it was around 9 AM. She got out of bed and found RainFlash, still sleeping on the couch. When she saw his right wing, she remembered how terrified she had been when she saw him struggling just hovering in the air. But, didn’t he fly perfectly fine when he was getting her bag? And he knocked down that bright brown stallion without any problem. Well, she decided to ask him about that later, now she needed something to eat, she looked in the fridge.
“Well, this stallion needs to eat less or buy food more often.“ She said to herself. “Well, I’ll just go and buy the ingredients that I need for a few pancakes,, that is the least I could do...“

When SugarSong came back from getting what she needed to make a breakfast, and lunch, RainFlash was still sleeping. She made a few pancakes and took found some syrup to put on them, she took the plates and placed it on the table in front of the couch. When she looked at RainFlash, he looked surprisingly sad. She sat down in front of him. Well, he better wake up soon, those pancakes will be cold soon.
RainFlash woke up he opened his eyes, still drowsy.
“Good morning.“ SugarSong said.
RainFlash looked around and after a few seconds he found SugarSong sitting right next to him, he sat up and yawned.
“Good morning“ RainFlash said, now a little bit more awake than before.
“I made some pancakes... I hope you like them.“ SugarSong said.
RainFlash took the plate closest to him and started eating.
“So...” SugarSong started.
“Do you want to ask something about last night? RainFlash asked, with a weak smile on his face.
“Well, why did you do it? When I saw you struggling just hovering, I-I just...“ She said.
“First of all, why wouldn’t I help you, and second, I can fly just fine, even with... this.” He said, looking at his right wing.
A few knocks on the door interrupts them. RainFlash gets out of the couch, and opens the door. And a grey coated mare with a blonde mane, stands in front of him.
“Hello Ditzy! What brings you here?” RainFlash asked.
“Well... There have been an accident with the rail-track, so... the train will be out of order for a month or so... Just wanted to say that, have a nice day RainFlash. She said, and took off.
RainFlash closed the door and walked back into the living room, looking at SugarSong.
“Well, I guess your ride home is out of order at the moment.” RainFlash said.
“Yeah, I heard that. I guess I’m stuck here, is it okay if I stay until they have fixed the rail? she asks.
“Sure, I guess that is ok.” RainFlash replied.
SugarSong took the empty plates, and went to the kitchen to clean them.
RainFlash watched her as she walked into the kitchen. Should I ask her? He thought to himself. He looked at the clock. 10:15 AM, I needed that sleep. He thought to himself, sure, he didn’t go to bed until 1 AM, but usually, he didn’t need that much sleep.
“RainFlash? Can you hear me?” SugarSong said.
RainFlashed snapped out of his thoughts and looked at her.
“I said, do you want go out and buy some food? The food in the fridge won’t last forever you know.” She said.
“Yeah... sure.” he replied.

“Hey, do you want to stop by at Sugar Cube Corner?” RainFlash asked.
They was just on their way back from the market, and had bunch of vegetables for the following week.
“Um... I guess so? Why?” SugarSong said.
“Well, that is the least I could do, those pancakes was delicious.” RainFlash said with a bright smile.
“Oh stop it!” SugarSong said, trying to hide a little blush.
The two ponies went through the doors, but the shop was empty.
“Well, look around and see if you can find something that you like.” RainFlash said, and started to look around for a cherry pie.
SugarSong looked around, everything looked so tasty.
“HI!” a Pink pony said, who what it looked like, came out of nowhere.
SugarSong jumped in surprise and looked at the Pink pony.
“Hello, do you work here?” SugarSong said, still shocked over the sudden... voice.
“I sure do! Wait, I haven’t seen you here before, did you move here or are you visiting your coltfriend over there? the Pink pony said.
“I’m not his coltfriend, but I’m staying at his house, long story.” SugarSong responded a little bit to fast.
“Oh, sorry then. I just haven’t seen him this happy since... he came here... by the way, Im Pinkie Pie, looking for something special?” Pinkie Pie said, still keeping a big smile on her face.
“Well, everything looks so tasty, do you recommend something?” SugarSong asked.
“The apple pies are very good” Pinkie Pie said.
“Ok, apple pie it is.” SugarSong said, hoping it wouldn’t be to expensive.
“I can see you’ve meet Pinkie Pie.” RainFlash said.”Did you find anything you wanted?” He asks a few seconds later.
“Pinkie Pie told me the apple pie was good, so I guess I’ll have one of those.” SugarSong replied.
RainFlash paid for the pie and they walked out of the store.
What did Pinkie Pie mean when she said she haven’t seen RainFlash that happy before? She decided not to think about it for now, and enjoyed the sunny day.
A sudden voice woke SugarSong up, she tried to get back to sleep but there it was again, a bit louder this time. She got out of bed, and walked into the living-room. And saw RainFlash, sitting on the couch, shaking.
“Are you alright?” she asked.
At first, RainFlash didn’t say anything, he looked at her, he took a deep breath, and said calmly.
“Y-yes, it, it was just a nightmare.” He said, and gave her a weak smile.
“Ok... are you sur...”
“Yes, I’m fine, now go back to bed. He said. Almost begging her to do so.
SugarSong sat down next to him, and placed a hoof on his shoulder.”It doesn’t look like you are alright to me.” She said.
RainFlash looked at her, she somehow reminded him of somepony, he just didn’t know who, 3 and when the first tear found it’s way down his cheek, he couldn’t take it anymore. He almost fell over her, and broke down in tears.
Surprised over what just had happened, SugarSong wrapped her hooves around RainFlash, slowly drawing her hoof through his mane. She didn’t really know what else to do, and about an hour later, he seemed to have calmed down, and shortly after, he was sleeping. SugarSong didn’t know what to do, it somehow felt nice, she looked at him, and... he was smiling? The few times she have seen him while sleeping, he always looked... sad... She decided to not think about it so she closed her eyes and slowly started to fall asleep.

When RainFlash woke up that morning, he found himself in he hooves of his guest, first wondering how he got there, then he remembered the what had happened last night, he didn’t mind the mare, who had wrapped her hooves around him, it was nice, but when be looked at the clock he realized he barley had time to eat breakfast, he ate some leftovers, he checked on SugarSong one more time before he left the house and flew away for work.
SugarSong woke up. She found herself alone on the couch, feeling a bit abandoned, she walked into the kitchen and made herself some breakfast. The fridge didn’t have much food left in it, and it needed to be restocked soon. She had only been here for about 2 weeks, but... it felt like just a few days. She took the plate and placed it in the sink. I wonder what RainFlash is up to. She thought to herself. She looked outside the window. I wonder if he even thinks about me. She thought, there was something familiar over him, but she just didn’t know what. She looked at the clock and it was 10 AM. Well, I might just go and buy some more food, there is not much else I can do around here. She thought to herself. She left the house and headed for the market.

SugarSong was on her way back to the house after her little shopping trip. Maybe I could stop by at Sugar Cube Corner. She thought to herself. When she entered the shop, it was empty. She looked around, and saw some chocolate muffins that looked very tasty.
“HI!”
SugarSong jumped of the sudden voice. And there she was, Pinkie Pie, who somehow had appeared from nowhere. Again.
“Looking for this?” Pinkie Pie said, holding up a pie of some sort. ”It’s a cherry pie, but we are always out of them when RainFlash comes by.” Pinkie Pie said.
“Ok... I ta... wait, how did you know I was going to buy something for RainFlash?” SugarSong said.
“I dunno, sometimes I just know stuff, my friends just call it being Pinkie.” Pinkie Pie said, smiling even more.
“Ok... I guess I’ll have that cherry pie then.” SugarSong said. “How much does it cost?“
“Well, since you are a friend... 15 bits.” Pinkie Pie said, taking the bits and waving goodbye.
RainFlash sits on the couch, still trying to take in what happened today. SugarSong was gone, probably gone shopping for some more food. Laying down on the couch with a grin, a few tears of happiness found their way down his cheek.
SugarSong opened the door, and found RainFlash on the couch, he looked at her, he had been crying, but he didn’t look sad at all, he smiled.
“What happened?“ SugarSong asked, putting away all the food she had just bought.
“I got a promotion.” RainFlash said, quietly laughing to himself.”I’m the new leader in a weatherteam group...“
SugarSong looked at RainFlash, then thinking of that cherry pie.
“Oh, almost forgot. I got you something when I was gone.” She said, and picked up the box with the cherry pie. ”Here, open it.” She said, and gave him a weak smile, and sat down right next to him. She watched RainFlash open the box, first he looked at the pie, then at her.
“Congrats to your new job!” SugarSong said, giving RainFlash a hug.
It took a moment for RainFlash to get back on earth, he returned the hug.
“I’ll go and get some plates, not sharing this pie wouldn’t be that nice of me.” RainFlash said with a big smile on his face. He walked out into the kitchen, and grabbed two plates and a cake server so he could slice the pie. Why did SugarSong even buy that pie, there is no way she could’ve known he would get a promotion. Not giving it to much thoughts, he took the two plates and the cake server and walked back into the living-room. He placed one of the plates in front of SugarSong and the other plate in front of himself, he sliced the pie in eight pieces and took one of the slices and placed it on SugarSong’s plate and the another one in his own.
“Well, let’s dig in!” RainFlash said, and took a bite of the pie. He glanced over at SugarSong and it seemed like she enjoyed the cherry pie. They ate the pie in silence, just enjoying the taste of the delicious cherry pie. Wasn’t hearts and hooves day coming up in just a few days? Maybe, he could buy her some flowers, or take her out and go to a restaurant. When he thought about it, he didn’t find any reason not to, when she was around, he was actually, happy.
“RUN! DON’T WORRY ABOUT ME! I’LL BE FINE! AHH!” Somepony screamed. SugarSong started to run. Turning left and right, hoping that whatever was chasing her, would lose track of her. Suddenly she tripped and fell into some bushes.
SugarSong woke up with a scream, she looked around. She was shaking and hyperventilated, she heard hoofsteps and the door opened. She saw RainFlash standing there, wide awake looking around the room.
“Is everything alright?” He asked, with a concerned look on his face.
“Y-yes... I’m fine.” SugarSong said, trying to calm down.
RainFlash walked to her, and laid down next to her. Looking into her eyes.
“You sure you are alright, because it doesn’t look like it.” He said.
“It-it was just a nightmare.” She said. The memories from that night, many years ago. She had tried to oppress that night, but it was still there, in her nightmares. She could feel RainFlash drawing her a bit closer to him with his right wing, she leaned her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes.
“It’s gonna be alright.” He whispered, slowly drawing his hoof through her mane.
She calmed down a bit, and fell asleep to the sound of RainFlash’s heartbeats.

RainFlash woke up, still holding the mare close to him with his right wing. She was still sleeping and he had no thoughts of waking her up. He closed his eyes, and draw SugarSong a little bit closer to himself. Then it hit him, it was Hearts and Hooves day today. He glanced at the clock. 8:30 AM. Should I make the dinner myself or should I take her out to a restaurant? RainFlash thought to himself. He was free from work today, so he had time to make the dinner.
SugarSong woke up, she glanced over at the clock. 9:30 AM. Well, I guess RainFlash is at work by now. She thought. She got out of bed, walked towards the kitchen. Wait, isn’t it Hearts and Hooves day today? She thought to herself. She opened the fridge, half stocked, so it didn’t need to be restocked anytime soon. Well, there goes that excuse to get a gift, she thought to herself. She tried to come up with a gift to get RainFlash, but nothing came up in her mind for the moment. Maybe, I’ll find something when I’m out. She thought, and left the house.

RainFlash entered the house.
“Hello?” He shouted, almost hoping that nopony would answer.
Silence.
It was about 12 AM and if he hurried, he might get the dinner ready before SugarSong got back, probably just out taking a walk. He walked into the kitchen, grabbed a cooking book and started looking for a good recipe for a mushroom stew.
SugarSong looked around, she saw a candy shop, she entered the store, and a cream coated mare, with a blue and pink mane, welcomed her.
“Hello, looking for anything special?” The mare asked with a smile on her face.
“Yes, do you have any tips of what I should get for my.... friend, as a Hearts and Hooves gift?” SugarSong asked, a bit unconfident.
“Hm... let’s see.” The mare said, looking around for something. ”How about chocolate muffins?” They are our best seller at the moment. She said with a big smile.
“I’ll take the muffins.” SugarSong said, paid for the muffins and left the store.
RainFlash was almost done with the stew, it would of helped if he had magic to assist him, but he didn’t. Taking the stew of the kitchen-range and placed the pot on the table, he took a spoon, and filled the plates with the stew. Drawing in the scent of the stew, and grin spread over RainFlash’s face. If she doesn’t get back soon, the stew is gonna get cold. RainFlash thought to himself, and lit up 2 candles on the table.
SugarSong stood in front of the door, still not sure what to say. She knocked the door, and waited. After a few moments RainFlash opened the door.
“You know that you don’t have to knock... right?” RainFlash said with a weak smile. He stepped aside, allowing her to enter the house.
As she entered, she could feel a wonderful smell.
“I made some mushroom stew, happy Hearts and Hooves day!” RainFlash said with a big smile on his face.
The two ponies sat down, and it didn’t take long for a awkward silence to spread around the room.
“Sooo...” RainFlash said, trying to break the awkward silence.”You want to hear a funny story?” he said, with a weak smile on his face.
“Sure, why not?” SugarSong asked, and had force herself to stop eating the delicious mushroom stew.
“Well, I was baking a cake for Pinkie Pie because she had helped me with the job and stuff, and somehow I mixed up salt and sugar. Anyways, as usual Pinkie Pie decided to throw a party and when I said we all could stat eating the cake everypony thought it was some kind of prank. But the only thing I couldn’t understand was not how I mixed up salt and sugar, it was why Pinkie Pie still enjoyed the cake.
“Wait she enjoyed it? How is that even possible?” SugarSong said with a light laugh.
“You would understand if you had been living here for a while, when it comes to Pinkie Pie, logic becomes meaningless.” RainFlash said.
They both kept on talking, telling each other jokes, not realizing how late it was. They had both finished their dinner a long time ago, and there weren’t a single tad left of the chocolate muffins. After a few hours, they decided to take a walk to the park. They left the house, and started walking. Enjoying the peaceful night, as they headed towards the park. It didn’t take long for them to get to the park.
I wonder what the park looks like from above. SugarSong thought to herself.
“RainFlash.” SugarSong started. ”Do you mind...” she stopped, no clue of what to say next.
“You want to see what it all looks like from above?” RainFlash said with a warm smile on his face.
“Um... yes.” SugarSong said. How did he know? she thought to herself.
“Alright.” RainFlash said lowering himself a bit so SugarSong could get up on his back.
“Just hold on tight.” he said when SugarSong had wrapped her hooves around his neck.
SugarSong felt her heart skip a beat when RainFlash took off, up in the sky. After a few seconds, she glanced down at the park.
“It... it looks beautiful.” SugarSong said.
RainFlash flew around the park for a few minutes, he thought of just landing, but instead he continued to fly around Ponyille, over the houses, over farms and over the trees at Sweet Apple Acres. He even flew up to CloudStale, there weren’t many ponies awake, but those who still was around, just stared at the pegasus, and the earthpony, who was hugging him tightly. Just before he was about to fly back, he noticed that SugarSong looked into his eyes, he looked back. Time froze for a second, he had never seen her this happy before. But it felt like he needed to remember something. He just didn’t know what.
SugarSong looked at all the surprised pegasi’s, who just stared at her and RainFlash. She placed her head on his neck and closed her eyes. After a few minutes, she opened her eyes, and when she looked at RainFlash, and when she looked into his eyes, he seemed so happy. Then without any warning, he looked back at her. And it felt like time froze for just a few seconds. Have I ever seen him this happy before? She thought to herself.
RainFlash opened the window to the bedroom, flew inside and landed on the bed, exhausted after the long flight. Alone this would be a easy flight, but with the eartpony mare on his back, it was way harder.
SugarSong, who now was lying on RainFlash glanced over at the clock. 1 AM. She rolled of RainFlash, who now was sleeping, she leaned a little bit closer to him and hugged him. Leaning her head on his chest, and fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeats.
SugarSong woke up, still having her hooves wrapped around RainFlash in a hug. RainFlash was still asleep, and he probably would be for at least one more hour. She had been here for... was it 29 days now? Closing her eyes again and thought what they had done. The first days, they didn’t really say much to each other. After about 40 minutes she decided to make some breakfast, she started preparing some pancakes but then she heard a few knock on the door, she opened the door and saw a grey coated wall-eyed mare with a blonde mane.
“Hi.” The mare said. ”I just wanted to let you know that the train-tracks have been fixed.”
“Oh.” SugarSong said, trying to hide her disappointment.
“That was all, bye!” The mare said, and took of.
SugarSong closed the door. Well, I guess this will be my last day here. She thought to herself. She was almost out of bits, so she couldn’t really buy anything fancy, and she would need a few for the train. I could give him breakfast on the bed, that is the least I could do for him. SugarSong thought, and went back to the kitchen, to make some of those delicious pancakes. She was done after just a few minutes, and RainFlash should wake up any minute now. She took the plate with the pancakes and headed towards the bedroom.
RainFlash woke up, and the first thing he saw was SugarSong lying in front of him with a plate that had a bunch of pancakes on it.
“Good morning.” She said, with a bright smile.
“Good morning.” RainFlash said, still not fully awake yet.
“I made some pancakes...” SugarSong said, struggling with that to say next.
“The train-tracks is fixed, aren’t they?” RainFlash said, with a small smile on his face,
“Um... yeah, how did you know?”
“The pancakes.” He said, and pointed at the pile of pancakes.
“Maybe I just wanted to be nice?” She said.
“Ok ok, you win.” RainFlash said, laughing to himself quietly.
“So... I guess I’ll take the night train, it’s a long trip home and sitting on a train for seven hours... not really what I wanna do today.” SugarSong said, and looked down at the already empty plate.
“Ok, any idea of what we can do then?” RainFlash asked.
“Maybe... go for a picnic?” She responded.”But first I’ll need to get myself some breakfast.” She said and walked back to the kitchen.
RainFlash got out of bed and walked into the kitchen, and sat down by the table. He glanced over at the clock. nine AM. Work starts in about 1 hour or so so I should get going soon.
“I have some work to do today, but I’ll be back before three PM so we still have time for that picnic.” RainFlash said.
“Oh... ok.” SugarSong said, a little bit disappointed.
RainFlash watched as SugarSong ate her breakfast.
RainFlash had left the house about one hour ago, she was done packing the picnic basket and sat down on the couch. Didn’t he have a violin? She thought. She looked around the house, and found it immediately. She was a bit out of practise but she could still play a few songs. But she still couldn’t play and sign the lyrics at the same time, but she tried and after a while, she both sang the song and played on the violin at the same time. She kept on playing and soon, she lost the track of time.
RainFlash was on his way back home, but when he was just about to open the door, he heard somepony play on a violin, and sang a song that he couldn’t remember last time he heard. He opened the door and found SugarSong, playing on the violin and singing.
“Nothing will break me cause I found a friend in you! And you found the magic in me. ” She sang, with a beautiful voice.
“There were times. That I felt alone. Though there was a crow. Strangers were many. But my ears, heard a familiar sound, the sound of a girl, who sang my melody. ” RainFlash continued, hoping he got that part right. SugarSong had stopped playing and just stared at him.
“Ready for the picnic?” he said with a weak smile.
“Um... sure.” SugarSong started. Still a bit shocked over what just happened.”Can I bring the violin, I’m gonna play at a theatre in a few days, and I need some practice.”
“Sure, why not?” RainFlash responded. but that song, there as something about it, nah, probably nothing. He thought to himself.
The two ponies left the house, and started walking towards the park, when they found a good spot under a tree to have their picnic at, they packed up and sat down on the carpet they brought.
“So... when did you get that violin?” SugarSong asked, and took a bite of a very tasty sandwich.
“Oh that was a long time ago, I used to play allot before I got a work in the weatherteam, and I guess I just stopped playing after a while.” RainFlash said.
“When did you move into Ponyville then?” SugarSong asked.
“Well, all I can remember was waking up in an old hut in a big forest, I was just a filly and got bored pretty quickly and I took a walk and suddenly I was in the middle of Ponyville, I didn’t really know anypony, but after some time wondering around Pinkie Pie just appeared out of nowhere and she helped me, then she told me that the weatherteam where looking for more ponies so I got there and did a few tests, they said it would take a few weeks to see if I could get the job, I got good scores but the right wing didn’t really give a good first expression. And when I was waiting I spent my free time on learning how to play the violin. then I meet you.” RainFlash said, hoping he didn’t forget anything.
It took a while for SugarSong to proses everything he said, what surprised her the most was that he didn’t really know where he really came from.
“So... how about singing that song again?” RainFlash said, breaking the silence.
“Um... sure.” SugarSong said, and picked up the violin, and started playing the same song she had been playing when RainFlash got back from work, and when the song was over, she could hear a group ponies clapping their hooves and cheering for them. She looked at RainFlash, who was just as surprised as her.
They kept on playing different songs for about an hour, and when they were done, there was at least 20 ponies around them cheering, but after a few minutes they all left, and left RainFlash and SugarSong alone again. They had got so caught up in the songs that they barley had started their picnic yet.
RainFlash leaned back at the tree, and closed his eyes and took a bite of his sandwich.
“So, you are a artist, right?” RainFlash asked, trying to get a conversation going.
“Yeah, I’ve been playing on a few theatres but nothing fancy.”SugarSong said.
Should I ask? They both thought at the same time.
“I was wonderi...” They both said at the same time.
“You go first.” RainFlash said.
“No, it’s nothing, you can go first.” SugarSong said, and gave him a small smile.
“Alright, I was wondering if we could stay in touch? You know, letters, maybe see each other from time to time.” RainFlash said.
“Oh of course!” SugarSong said and wrapped her hooves around RainFlash, who returned the hug. She leaned her head against his shoulder and grabbed the last sandwich.
They both sat there, looking at the clouds and just enjoyed each others company for what seemed like just a few minutes but probably was at least over an hour. But it was getting dark and SugarSong had a train to catch, so after a while, they both started walking back to RainFlash’s house. And when SugarSong was done packing, she would have just enough time to say goodbye and still be able to catch the train.
“I guess we won’t see each other for a while now.” RainFlash said with a touch of sadness in his voice.
“It won’t be that long, just a few weeks.” SugarSong said and gave RainFlash a weak smile.
“So I guess this is goodbye for now.” RainFlash said still trying to stay calm.
“I’ll send one letter every week, I promise.” SugarSong said, trying to have a serious look on her face.
“Can you really promise me that? What if you forget the address? ” RainFlash said with a smile on his face.
“Don’t worry, I won’t forget the address.” SugarSong said and gave RainFlash a hug, who returned the hug. But after a minute she broke the hug, and waved goodbye as she headed for the train station.
RainFlash watched as SugarSong walked away, only now able to say the few words he had been trying to say for a long time now.
“I love you.” He said quietly. But she was to far away to hear him. He closed the door and sat down on the couch, he leaned his head on the pillow closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
SugarSong was on her way to the train, it wasn’t a long walk, but it took a good 20 minutes. But when she saw the train station, she just stopped. No, I can’t leave without telling him. She thought to herself turned around and started running back, but suddenly she saw a shadow, she turned around.
RainFlash woke up with a hitch, wide awake he ran to the door opened it and took of, heading for the train station.
SugarSong looked at seven pegasi stallions, she recognized three of them.
“Well well well, what do we have here! All out on your own?” The bright brown stallion said, his black mane was nearly visible in the dark.
But before SugarSong had time to say anything, she saw a flash of red, and just a moment later, one of the stallions who stood next to the bright brown stallion collapsed, knocked out of a single kick in the face, and barley visible, a black coated stallion, with a red mane stood there.
“Leave. Her. Alone.” RainFlash said, his eyes burning with hate. He looked around and the remaining 6 stallions.
“What is wrong with you? Seriously? We are six, you are one.”The bright brown stallion said.
RainFlash took of and hovered in the air, four of the other stallions followed and the other two stayed on the ground, cheering for their friends. He started flying towards one of the stallions, when he was just a few inches away he could see one of them flying towards him, without any warning, he took a quick turn to the right and kicked the stallion in the back and watched as the stallion fell down on the ground. Two down, five more to go. He thought to himself.
SugarSong saw one of the two stallions, who had just been cheering for his friends, took of to help his three friends leaving the last one alone. He didn’t even notice her, she just went up to him and punched him in the stomach with her forehoov so he lost his breath, then finished him by kicking him in the face so hard that he fainted immediately.
RainFlash saw the stallion, who just had been cheering for his friends fall to the ground. Two of the stallions, who had been keeping an eye on him started flying towards her.
“RUN! DON’T WORRY ABOUT ME! I’LL BE FINE! RainFlash shouted, then he felt a pain in his back as one of the stallions kicked him.”AHH!” He shouted, as he fell down and crashed on the ground.
SugarSong just watched as two of the stallions started flying towards her, but when she heard RainFlash screaming, it hit her. In a split second, all the memories she had been trying to oppress for years came back, the forest, the timberwolves. And the scream. No, she would not do the same mistake again.
RainFlash tried to get up, but as soon as he stood up, he felt a kick in the stomach and he collapsed. He opened his eyes and saw one of the stallions receive a well placed kick in the face. Then he saw the other stallion grab her, and took of. That was it, in a split second he took of, doing a quick turn and kicked the bright brown stallion, who had just had been kicking him right in the face, as he did the stallion fell to the ground holding his forehooves in front of his face. He turned around, and saw SugarSong punching the stallion who just had been holding her on the chin, he dropped her and she started falling to the ground.
“NightChaser!” SugarSong screamed, now remembering the name of the stallion who she had been living with for the past month.
That name. And it all came back, the timberwolves chasing them. He had tried to lead them away from SugarSong. RUN! DON’T WORRY ABOUT ME! I’LL BE FINE! He had shouted, and right after that, a massive pain in his right wing, he had managed to fly away, after a few minutes he crashed into a hut, and he passed out. snapping out of his thoughts, he took of, and started flying towards SugarSong as fast as he could manage.
SugarSong closed her eyes, but she didn’t land on the ground, something grabbed her. She opened her eyes and saw NightChaser trying to slow down the fall.
He couldn’t do it, it was to close to the ground and he didn’t have time to stop the fall, he wrapped his hooves around SugarSong closed his eyes and got ready to meet the ground. And the moment, they crashed.
SugarSong opened her eyes, she looked around, all the stallions who had been there before was either gone or lying on the ground. She looked down and saw NightChaser, slowly opening his eyes and he looked at her.
“By the way, you still owe me that apple.” He said with a weak smile before he passed out.
NightChaser woke up in a bed, he looked around and saw both of his wings and his left forehoov in bandage, and on his right forehoov he found a sleeping SugarSong. For long have I been here? How did I get here? he thought to himself. Then, without any warning, SugarSong looked up at him, she had been crying, he could see that.
“Oh thank god you are ok.” SugarSong said, giving NightChaser a warm hug, he pulled her a little bit closer with his right forehoov, only now able to say those words, he had been wanting to say for so long now.
“I love you.” He whispered, and a tear found its way down his cheek.
“I love you to.” SugarSong whispered back, hugging him even harder. ”How did you get away from those timberwolves?” She asked, still holding him in a tight hug, as they would come back and take him if she didn’t.
“I just... didn’t stop flying. I crashed into a old swamp hut and got help with the wing. That zebra saved my life.” He said.
SugarSong broke the hug for a moment, then she leaned forward and kissed him. And just a split second later, NightChaser kissed back. What felt like seconds could have been minutes, but after a while SugarSong broke the kiss, gave him a quick hug.
“I love you.” She whispered.
“I love you to.” NightChaser whispered back and felt a tear running down his cheek.
“By the way, when you was unconscious, one of the guards just wanted to let you know that there is a job as the captain of the guards here in Ponyville, and... if you want to it’s yours.” SugarSong said with a weak smile.
“I... I don’t know what to say, honestly.” NightChaser said, still trying to process everything.
“Say yes?” SugarSong said, and gave him that adorable grin.
“Can I at least think about it?” NightChaser said gave her a funny smile.
“Nope.” She said and kissed him on the nose.
“What do you do if I say no?” NightChaser said.
“I would question where you got that cutie mark from.” SugarSong said.
NightChaser looked down at the right side of his flank, and there it was. A black dark purple shield, but there was something else in it. When you looked close, you could see a small bird singing, it looked like the shield was transparent and behind it... ”Is that... that looks just like your cutiemark. ” NightChaser said.
SugarSong looked a bit closer, it felt, awkward to be staring at a flank like this but he was right, behind that obsidian shield, there was a singing bird.
“We need to celebrate this.” NightChaser said.
“What you need is to wait until your wounds have healed, and when they have healed.” SugarSong said.
“Oh... right.“ He said.
“Now, I will go and get those invitations done, you will just sit here and do... nothing.” SugarSong said and kissed NightChaser one more time before she left.
He leaned his head back on the pillow and closed his eyes. What did I ever do to deserve this mare? He thought to himself slowly drifting away into sleep.
“Come on! Where are you taking me?” SugarSong said, trying to look through the piece of cloth in front of her face.
“Almost there.” NightChaser said.” And, you can take it off!”
SugarSong removed the piece of cloth that was covering her face.
“Where are we?” She asked.
“Don’t you remember? We played hide and seek in the forest.” NightChaser said.
“Wait, is this where.” She said.
“Yes, where the timberwolves separated us, but do you remember the promise we made before we got interrupted?” He said.
“T-that we would... stay with each other, no matter what?” She said, a little bit doubtful.
“Yes, and now, to make sure nothing separates us ever again.” He said, and got down on his knees.”SugarSong, will you marry me?” He said, trying to control his emotions while holding up a box silver necklace with a sapphire shaped like her cutiemark in it and a gold necklace with a ruby shaped like his cutiemark.
At first she just stared at him, trying to process what just had happened. Then a few tears found their way down her cheek and she smiled throwing herself at him.
“Oh my gosh oh my gosh yes!” SugarSong said and wrapped her hooves around him hugging him as tight as she could, crying tears of joy, kissing him all over his face.
NightChaser gladly returned the hug, and kissed back. Then he looked into her sapphire eyes, time seemed to freeze for a second. Wishing that the moment would never end, he kissed her on the tip of her nose and said softly.
“I love you.”
“I love you to.” SugarSong replied, and leaned her head against his chest.
The necklaces was lying just next to them, they broke the hug and NightChaser took up the one that was for SugarSong and put the necklace on her.
“You look absolutely stunning in that necklace.” He said softly.
“Oh thank you.” SugarSong said.”Now lets see how you look in your necklace.” She said and took the necklace that was for NightChaser and put it on him.”You don’t look to bad yourself.” She said with a giggle.
“You just say that so to be nice, don’t you?” NightChaser said with a goofy smile.
“Oh shus you!” She said with a light laugh.
“So... now when we are engaged, anypony that you wanna invite to the wedding next week?” NightChaser said.
“Wait, how did you know I was gonna say yes?” SugarSong said.
“You tend to talk when you sleep, allot.” NightChaser said jokingly.
“I don’t talk when I sleep.” SugarSong said determined.
“Really? then who is MrCudd...” Was all NightChaser managed to say before SugarSong put a hoof in front of his mouth.
“Don’t. You. Dare.” She said, trying to keep a serious face but just burst out in laughter.
SugarSong leaned against NightChaser’s shoulder and looked up in the sky and enjoyed the sight of Luna’s night. One year ago, she came here for a job, first she didn’t wanna take it but her parents had forced her to take it, she still hadn’t told them that she had been living with NightChaser the last few months, now there was only one thing to do.
“I guess we have to send invitations to the wedding to our parents now.” SugarSong said and looked at NightChaser.
“Yeah, I hope my parents can make it, when I think about it, I haven’t even told them about you yet, they don’t even know I’m alive.” NightChaser said.
“You haven’t told them?!” SugarSong said bursting out in laughter again.
“Um... no. I guess I owe them a pretty good explanation now, I hope they’ll forgive me.” He said.
“I’m sure they’ll forgive you, why wouldn’t they?” SugarSong said and gave NightChaser a quick kiss.
“Thanks, I really mean it.” He said nuzzling her nose.
“Nawww.” She said with a small smile and wrapped her hooves around him and draw him into a deep kiss. After a few minutes they where rolling around in the grass laughing. Soon both of them where sitting under a tree, NightChaser leaned his head against SugarSong’s shoulder who draw him a closer with her forehoof and both looked up at all the stars and enjoyed the sight of Luna’s night. After a while, NightChaser had fallen asleep on her shoulder, she looked at him for a moment, kissed him on his forehead and then leaned her head over his. After a while she fell asleep, drifting away to the world of dreams.
It was a nice and sunny day, RainFlash just got home and dropped down on his bed, he got out of bed, and looked into the fridge. Well, not much left, I need to go shopping soon. RainFlash thought to himself.
A couple of hours later, he heard something.
Wait, was that a scream? Rainflash thought to himself.
And there it was again, RainFlash walked to the window and saw some pegasi, pricking on a light blue earthpony with a snow white mane. He took of and started flying towards the group of ponies.
“GO AWAY!“ She screamed at them.
“Hey! What are you guys doing!“ RainFlash shouted.
“Hey! Look who wants to join the party! A bright brown coated stallion said, with a black mane.
“Just leave her alone, she didn’t do anything." RainFlash said, trying to hide his anger.
“Oh! I’m so scared!" the bright brown stallion said, laughing with his two friends.
“We can do this the easy way, or the hard way, you choose.” RainFlash said, with a little grin on his face.
The bright brown stallion, that must have been the leader of the group, just laughed.
“What are you going to do about it? There is nopony else here to help you! Face it! We are 3 against 1! You lose!"
“Oh, that must be so brave! You need 3 stallions to beat down a mare? I’m impressed!” RainFlash said while laughing. He had them just where he wanted.
The other two stallions started to whisper to each other.
“Hey, stay back while I beat this freak up! Ok?” the stallion said, but now with a little bit less confidence than before.
RainFlash took of, hovering in the air, you could clearly see that a part of his right wing was missing, this disability had helped him many times, his opponents usually misjudged him heavily. Mistake that mostly ended very badly, for them.
“Is this a joke? Seriously?!” the bright brown stallion said. Thinking this was going to be easy.
The bright brown stallion took air and started flying towards RainFlash.
When the bright brown stallion was just a few meters from RainFlash, he quickly dodged to the right and planted a kick in his opponents back, who faceplanted in the ground and got knocked out in the... landing.
“Can’t you go and help your little friend over there? And next time, I might not be this nice. RainFlash said." He started flying towards the mare, and landed next to her.
“Everything alright?" he asked.
“Y-yes, I think so” the mare said, who had calmed down a bit.
“Should I take you home? Or do you wan’t to spend the night at my house?” RainFlash asked.
“Well, I’m not really living close by, and I’ve missed the train, so I guess I’ll have to stay at your place then. Is it far away?" The mare said, still shocked over what just had happened.
“Well, I could hear you from my house so... I guess it won’t take to long to get there” He said, helping her up.
“Thank you, Mr?” she said.
“RainFlash, my name is RainFlash, and what is your name then?” he asked.
“SugarSong” She replied.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you SugarSong.” he said.
“Do you mind getting my bag? It’s up in that tree over there, can you see it?" SugarSong asked.
“Yes, I can see it, back when I got it!” RainFlash said, and started flying towards the tree to get it.

“Well, here is my house” RainFlash said, and opened the door.
“Thank you, again.” SugarSong said, looking inside the house.
“So... should I sleep on the couch?” she asked.
“No, you can take the bed, the couch will do for me.” RainFlash said.
“Ok then, do you mind if I ask where the bedroom is? she asked.
“Not at all” He said with a small smile, showing her the way. He opened the door and showed her in.”Well, good night” he said, and closed the door.
SugarSong collapsed on the bed, tired after what just had happened. What had happened to his wing, why did he even help her, why didn’t he have a cutiemark? What is my parents gona say about this? All the questions just overwhelmed her. Not having enough energy to think about it, she closed her eyes and soon, she fell asleep.
RainFlash was just about to go to sleep, on the couch... but before that he decided to check on SugarSong, he opened the door, trying to not make a sound. She was sleeping, it almost looked like she was hugging the pillow. After a while he realized he was staring at her, not thinking to much about it he closed the door silently and headed for the couch and lay down in it. And after a while he fell asleep.
SlateBloom waved goodbye to the mailmare, she looked at the letters, bills bills, wait an invitation? She walked back inside and opened the letter, after reading it, she froze in shock dropped the letter and soon a few tears found their way down her cheek, her husband SlateEarth walked inside the room.
“What’s wrong dear?” He asked softly. He looked at the letter that she just had dropped and read it.
Dear Mr and Mrs Slate. You are invited to the reunion of Sugar Astral Song and Night Slate Chaser. The wedding is the 21th of February and we would love to see you there.
SlateEarth dropped the letter and just stared into the wall for a moment, he looked at his wife who still was crying happy tears, he wrapped his hooves around her.
“Our little colt is getting married...” was all SlateBloom managed to say, still trying to process everything.”I just wish he would’ve contacted us sooner, the wedding is in just two weeks.” SlateBloom said, now a little bit calmer than before.
“All that matters is that he is alright.” SlateEarth said.
“I-I guess so.” SlateBloom said.
“Now, let’s go find some good clothes for the wedding, shall we?” SlateEarth said.
