I put my bits on the counter and hopped off the stool. I hiccuped once and started to walk towards the dance floor.
Pinkie's parties were usually fun and awesome, but this one was drop dead amazing. She managed to book a bar in Manehatten, as well as DJ PON-3, also known as Vinyl Scratch.
I tried to keep my balance as well as possible and I had to blink a few times to keep the room from spinning.
"Maybe I shoul-hic-dn't of had so much cider..." I slurred to myself.
"Hey Dashie!" A hyperactive voice said. I looked around and saw Pinkie, pushing through the big crowd of ponies.
"Hi -hic- Pinkie." I slurred. She raised an eyebrow.
"Whatchya been doing this whole time?" She asked. "Have you been drinking like, way to much cider?" She asked.
"What?" I asked. I laughed. "No way!" I started to involuntarily lean forward. "Eeee" I moaned. Pinkie acted fast and caught me before I hit the floor.
The thing that was funny was that she caught me in the position the stallion would hold the mare in the Tango at one part.
I had my hooves tucked into my chest and giggled.
"Nice c-hic-atch!" I said.
"Hehe," she said as a blush appeared on her face from eyes falling in them in this position. "Thanks."
She pulled me up and I retained my balance.
"You caught me!" I said "I have been drinking, in fact, I can't even feel my wings!"
Pinkie face hooved.
"How many glasses did you have?" She asked. I giggled.
"I stupped cou-hic-ounting after mer sixth un." I said, mispronouncing some of my words.
"Wow, how are you feeling?" She asked over the loud dub step. I hiccuped a few times before speaking.
"Well, the room is spunning a little bit a-hic-and if I tried to open my wings, I cou-hic-ldn't." I said.
Pinkie walked over to my side.
"Watchya doin?" I said half lidded as I twisted my head around. She said nothing, but stretched my left wing open.
"Can you feel anything?" She asked.
"Nooo..." I said. She trailed her hoof up and down my appendage. "Nope." I said. Pinkie giggled.
"Well that's enough cider for you!" She said.
"Awe, but it tastes so good!" I complained.
"But look what it does to you!" She said. "It makes it so you can't dance!" She said as she giggled and backed into the crowd of ponies on the dance floor.
I giggled and followed her into the sea of ponies.
We danced for most of the time, and Pinkie saved me from hitting the floor from fainting a few times again.
A little while later, Pinkie finally caved in and got a cup of cider. We both sat at the bar counter. I leaned my forehead against the counter to try and make the room stop spinning, and it didn't help when I got a mug of cider for myself.
When Pinkie finished her cider, her tongue was hanging out of her mouth and her lips were covered in foam.
"Ahh..." She said.
"Now do y-hic-uh see why I had so much?" I asked, my slur getting worse.
Pinkie nodded and wiped her mouth. She turned her head towards the pony behind the counter.
"Bartender, two more strong ciders!" She called.
My head whipped up straight.
"strong ciders?!" I cried. I hiccuped. Pinkie giggled.
"Why not?" She said. "It's a Saturday night and it's a party!" She said.
I rested my head back on the counter.
"Screw the things you said two hours ago..." I muttered.
~~~~~~~~~~
Pinkie was giggling over nothing and I was singing some song in a slurred voice.
Pinkie laid her cheek on the counter.
"Who knew this -hic- would be sooo fuuun..." She slurred. Pinkie looked up. "Bartender!" She yelled. "Another round!"
The bartender walked over and shook his head.
"Sorry, ladies, I can't allow you to have any more." He said.
"Awe, why?" Pinkie asked.
"You're too drunk." He answered.
"Drunk?" I asked. "Whaaaat?" I said in a high voice.
"We're not drunk!" Pinkie said.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry girls, cannot allow it." He repeated.
"F-f-hic-ine!" I slurred. Pinkie and I got off our stools and stumbled into the crowd on the dance floor again.
"Pinkie, Rainbow Dash!" A voice yelled.
"Whoes dat?" I said. I turned around and saw Twilight.
"Oh, hey Twiiiii!" I slurred.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
"Yers!" Pinkie said. "We er just great!" Pinkie stammered.
"No. You're not." Twilight said.
"Ppfffffff... We're just fine!" Pinkie said.
Twilight shook her head.
"Don't have any more drinks." She said.
"Yeah, whatever." I said as I got pulled into the crowd by Pinkie.
I stumbled into the middle of the floor.
"The middle?" I said.
"Sure, why not?" Pinkie asked.
"That seems to be your phrase tonight!" I yelled.
"Why not?" She joked.
I looked past Pinkie and my eyes met with Vinyl's. Her sunglasses were off and you could see her plain red eyes. She smiled and winked at me.
I mouthed the word 'what' to her. She used her magic and put a record on the table, but only one. She left her turntables for a minute, only to turned the lights down.
The one thing was that the lights in the middle stayed bright, more specifically, the lights on Pinkie.
That's when I realized what song she was playing.
Adam Neighbert, If I Had You.
What was she trying to do? She wasn't making it dub step or anything. Just a plain old song.
I just then noticed how damn beautiful Pinkie was at the chorus (cheesy, I know).
I just then noticed why Vinyl chose the song.
If I had you, then money, fame and fortune never could compete. She was trying to tell me The Wonderbolts wasn't worth it.
If I had you, life would. Be. A. Party...
I see what she did there.
Pinkie being half lidded didn't help, and neither did the sparkles that seemed to appear around her face.
Man, those ciders.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I slowly woke up in a bed.
My head is pounding and I feel like in about to throw up. I can feel my wings now, but it hurts like hell to move them, and the feathers are ruffled in every direction.
Mental images of last night flash through my head, but no memories of what happened after the song ended came to mind. I rubbed my ear, when I noticed a bite mark on it.
My breath reminds me I drank too much last night, and I didn't brush my teeth. The taste of candy also lingers on my lips....
I notice another pony breathing.
I roll over, despite the pain in my gut.
There, laying next to me was Pinkie Pie, a blue primary feather identical to mine stuck behind her ear.
My best. Friend. In bed. Next to me.
What?
Her mouth hung open and her tongue lolled out like a puppy's. Her lips were tugged up in a smile.
Suddenly...... I remember what the buck happened last night, not exactly and exclamation on why she's next to me at the moment, but it's worth something.
I remember that song making me think differently of Pinkie. But that's all I remembered, and thinking hard made my head hurt even more.
I look around. I was in a hotel room, probably across the street from the bar where the party was.
A knock at the door jerks Pinkie awake. She sat up and rubbed her head. She looked over to me. She smiled. I frowned.
We looked back at the door as another knock came from it.
I slowly get up, every muscle in my body hurting, and walked towards the door.
Pinkie darted out off of the bed so nothing looked weird (I'm guessing).
I open the door to see Twilight. Again. I rubbed my head and sighed.
"What now?" I asked.
"I was just wondering if you two were alright?" She asked.
"Oh, that," I said. "Mmmm we're fine." I said.
"Yeah, totally." Pinkie says behind me.
"Just a little, uh, hungover." I said.
"Okay, well, if you need anything, the girls and I are across the hall." She said. My ears folded back.
"Why didn't we get to stay in a room with you?" I asked, a little louder. "Ow..." I rubbed my head.
"Uh, we figured you two needed privacy with each other." She answered.
"Yeah, okay, thanks." I said. Twilight smiled and nodded.
I slammed the door shut and turned around.
"What the buck happened?!" I asked.
Pinkie sat on her haunches and played with her hooves.
"Well, you kind of, um, kissed me last night." Pinkie said. "Things got out of hoof, and," she paused. "The only thing we did for the rest of the night was mess around." She said.
"What kind of messing around?!" I asked.
"I really thought you'd remember better." She said.
"Nah, I don't remember anything after that song Vinyl played." I said.
"Oh, well," she said as her eyes nervously darted around the room. "that kind of messing around."
"Pinkie, from you, I have no idea on what to expect from you when you say 'messing around'." I said.
Pinkie faced hoofed and blushed.
"Let's just say we both need showers." She said.
My eyes widened in shock.
"Okay..." I moaned. "Okay..." I turned around and took deep breaths. "I just-" I turned around. "We just-" I sighed.
"Dashie-" Pinkie started.
"You're my best friend and we just-" I turned back around.
No, I'm not going to call this hyperventilating.
I felt a hoof on my shoulder. I turned around and came snout to snout with Pinkie. I stumbled backwards and fell on my rump.
"Pinkie, I don't think I can be around you right now." I said calmly as I scrambled back onto my hooves.
"Dashie," She said. "We were drunk!" She cried.
"That doesn't change the fact we-!" I yelled.
"Dashie, please calm down!" Pinkie cried.
I pressed my hooves against my temples.
"Okay." I said. "I need some fresh air." I opened the door. "I need to go."
~~~~~~~~~~~
I surfaced the cloud tub I made. Pinkie said I needed a shower? No problem. Fill a tub shaped cloud with water. I couldn't stay around Pinkie much longer.
"In such a jerk..." I muttered. I walked out on my best friend. I was drunk. I. Was. Drunk. So was she. I can't blame her, it was my fault too. I'm the one who kissed her in the first place.
"Rainbow Dash?" A soft voice asked. I looked down.
"Hey Fluttershy." I said casually.
"Are you feeling alright?" She asked.
"Oh, yeah, I just have a headache and I feel like hurling." I said sarcastically.
"Oh, well why are you out here and not in your hotel room resting?" She asked. "That is, if it's okay for me to ask."
"I can't be there." I said in a strained voice.
"Um, why not?" She asked.
"I just can't!" I said.
"Oh, well I don't want to pressure you, but you know you can come to one of us if you need help." She said.
"Alright," I said.
"How's Pinkie?" She asked. I froze.
"Ehm, she's fine." I said, not knowing it to be true for myself.
"She is?" She asked.
"Yuhuh." I muttered.
"Oh, okay, but maybe you should rest somewhere inside. Just a thought" she said. "Bye, Rainbow."
"Bye." I said back.
The thought of going back to the hotel room sickened me (even more), but it's Pinkie Pie. She my best friend. I'm the one who wanted more anyways, why should Pinkie be the one to suffer?
I resisted the idea of closing my wings from pain, and got rid of my tub-cloud.
I landed on the ground and trotted towards the hotel.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I opened the door to the hotel and saw Pinkie on her back, her four legs spread out on the bed. Her frizzy pink tail was pulled between her hind legs, and being played with sadly by her front legs.
"Uh, Pinkie?" I asked. She looked over to me.
"Oh, hey Rainbow." My ears folded back. That's the first time in forever since I've actually been called Rainbow by Pinkie.
"Look I'm sorry with what's been happening." I said. "I-" I sighed. "I do still, um, love you." I said shyly.
Pinkie sat up.
"You do?" She asked. "Than why did you run out on me like that?"
"I was scared." I said. "Of Twilight knew we needed out own room, what else did ponies see?" I asked. "I wanted to keep my reputation."
I sighed.
"I guess there's nothing I can do about it now." I said. "We were both wasted, and I should blame you when I started it.
Pinkie ran up to me and hugged me. Caught off guard, I slowly wrapped my arms around her.
"K'now what?" She asked as she got off of me.
"What?" I asked.
"On the way to the party, I actually made plans with a stallion I met on the train." She said. "I waited by the door, but he never came." She looked down. "They closed the doors for max capacity and he still didn't come." She said. "I tried to hide my disappointment. I think I did a pretty good job."
"Oh..." I said.
"But luckily," she said. "I found something much better." She kissed me on the snout and smiled.
I smiled softly.
I pressed my lips against Pinkie's and held them there for about a minute.
When we parted she giggled.
"You have no idea how long I've waited to kiss somepony..." She said.
"Didn't I already do that last night?" I asked.
"It doesn't count when I'm drunk." She said. "If drunk kisses count, my first kiss is long gone."
"Oh, okay." I said. "One question, so you were attracted to stallions, but now you're attracted to mares?" I asked.
"Well, let's just say I could've gone for both, but now I know all I want is you." She said.
"Okay, that was unbelievably cheesy." I said as I raised an eyebrow.
"Oh well." She said.
We hugged again.
"Does your head still hurt?" I asked.
"Like hell." Pinkie replied. "You still feel like you need to hurl?" She asked.
"All over you." I answered.
We both laughed.
"I need to thank Vinyl Scratch later..." I mumbled. She deserved it for what I had now.
