The Dreams of Twilight Sparkle
What are Dreams?
Load Full StoryChapter 1
Twilight looked around at the expanse of whiteness before putting her mask on. When she did, the world around her turned from a harsh white to a nice and sort of soft grey. “Luna and her ice. She doesn't want ice from the store. No. She wants ice from the Antarctic! Great going.” Twilight Sparkle muttered to herself. She tumbled rather than walked down an ice dune. At the bottom of it, she landed flat on her face and her rump up in the air.
Lifting her head, she noticed her mask was cracked. She coughed to get some powdered snow out of her mouth and hastily cast a quick repair spell on the mask. In addition to the mask that her brother had lent her, she was also wearing a rather thick cloak with a hood in an effort to keep herself warm. She couldn't cast a warmth spell because that would waste too much energy.
“Luna, you'd better be right about this ice block.” Twilight muttered. She then began walking towards the centre of the enormous snowfield. She remembered Luna saying something about wanting a block of ice from the centre of the Antarctic for some unknown reason. “Surely Luna would have told me. Instead, she has to be cryptic like always.” She said.
“Where is the- woah!” Twilight screamed as she fell down an unforeseen ice hole. Landing on the bottom, she threw her hooves up over her head to try and stop some snow from falling on top of her. Lighting her horn up, she channelled her magic and teleported to the top. Shivering uncontrollably, Twilight realised her cloak was still buried under the snow. “How am I meant-t-t t-t-to get my cloak-k-k-k out from und-d-der the snow?” Twilight's teeth chattered while she talked so she kept her mouth shut from saying anything else.
Magicking herself back down the hole, she grabbed her cloak in her teeth and teleported back up. She sat in the snow and fastened the cloak around herself. Twilight then put the hood up and slowly nodded to herself while creeping along the frozen tundra.
Eventually getting to the middle of the field without any other mishaps she looked around for one of the signs that Luna mentioned. Finding some pink blossoms, the only splash of colour in an otherwise grey filter, Twilight walked towards it and remembering the other directions she got to the perfect ice block.
By the time she found it, Twilight was shivering uncontrollably again. Her wings felt frozen to her sides and the cloak wasn't enough to keep her warm anymore. Her hooves had begun to go numb when Twilight magically cut an ice block directly out of the glacier. She looked around and wondered how she could keep the thing frozen long enough to get back to Equestria, let alone to Luna for her secret project.
