Dirge was a veteran of his hive's army. With scars beyond healing and years of experiences to show for his efforts, he served his queen and people well until his downfall. His loyalty became questioned as well as his actions throughout his line of work. After the final straw, he was sentenced to imprisonment until his eventual judgement by those above him.

Considered a liability, he was no longer needed in his lifelong home and began his new travels across Equestria. Now a vagabond, he helps those he comes across while searching for a new purpose in life.
