Twilight paced around the castle library, panicking about her friends arrival. “Where are they? They should be here by now, its two minutes until the set time!” she said to the only other pony in the room, Applejack.

The apple pony shrugged “I dunno. Maybe they aren’t coming” she said, not the slightest bit of concern in her voice as she laid on one of the plush couches set out. The cushions were a deep purple, a bit darker than the princess’s coat.

The door opened to the room and a guard stuck his head in the room “Your majesty, a mare is requesting entrance. Says her name is Pinkamena?” he said. Twilight nodded “let her in” she said simply, looking up with a smile as Pinkie entered the room.

“Pinkie, I haven’t seen you in years!” she said, trotted over to hug her friend.

“Don’t touch me” Pinkie said coldly “And it’s Pinkamena, or Mrs. Pie” she pushed Twilights hooves away and walked to a chair, sitting down. Twilight glanced over at Applejack, who shrugged.

"So, Pinkamena, how’s life in the city? Y’all enjoying yourself?” AJ asked

“Yes, I suppose it’s alright” she replied, running a hoof through her flat mane.

Applejack widened her smile a bit, trying to get a smile from her old friend “So, it’s Mrs. Pie” she said “Who is it?” she asked curiously, a bit surprised that Pinkie got married.

"His name’s Main Course. He’s a professional chef and restaurant owner” she said, her tone almost as flat as her mane. Twilight raised an eyebrow at Pinkamena's coat, which was dull and faded.

“I’m here” a quiet voice said. All three ponies looked over at the voice, finding Fluttershy to be the culprit. She walked into the room and smiled at the ponies “Hay girls, I haven’t seen you in a while” she said, going up to Twilight and hugging her, receiving a hug in return. She got a half hearted hug from Applejack and when she went up to Pinkie, she flinched at the sharp glare she received.

“W-well it’s nice to see you girls” she said.

Twilight nodded “yeah, it’s very nice. I missed you all” Pinkie didn’t respond and AJ just shrugged.

“BANG”

The door slammed open and a cyan mare flew into the room, her mane dishevelled and her breath heavy. “Sorry for being late,
a show went on longer than expected” she said, flopping onto a couch opposite Applejack. “Hay AJ, Pinks, Flutters, Twi” she said, nodding a greeting to each one. Applejack smiled and nodded, then her smile dropped and she went back to the bored look she had worn the whole time.

Twilight frowned “So, a wonderbolt now” she said stiffly, obviously not entirely over a grudge she had on the cyan mare.

Rainbow rolled her eyes “Drop it, Twilight” she warned, her eyes landing on Pinkie. “Hay Pinkie!” she said brightly, tackling her best friend in a hug.

“Don’t touch me” Pinkie said, pushing Rainbow away harshly.

Rainbow’s eyes showed hurt and confusion “What’s up, Pinks?” she asked.

“It’s Pinkamena” Twilight said, relieving Pinkie of having to repeat herself.

Rainbow nodded slowly and took a few steps back “Sure, whatever” she walked to Fluttershy instead, opening her hooves to hug her. Fluttershy flinched and pulled back, much to Rainbow’s confusion “I just want a hug” she said, prompting Fluttershy to open her eyes and blush.

She opened her own hooves and hugged Rainbow, a bit tense. “You okay?” RD asked her yellow friend, who scooted a bit back and nodded

"yeah, I’m fine” she said quietly. Rainbow noticed something glint in the light and she looked at Fluttershy’s wings, where it came from.

“What?! Flutters, you’re married?” she said, her eyes wide as she saw the golden ring, a huge diamond in the center.

Fluttershy squeaked and hid behind her soft pink mane “Yeah, I am” she said quietly, her mane shielding her from her friend’s peering eyes.

“Who? Tell me!” Rainbow Dash pestered, her excited eyes showing the opposite emotions that Fluttershy felt.

“F-Filthy R-Rich” she stammered nervously.

Rainbow’s jaw dropped “No bucking way!” she said, reaching out a hoof to playfully punch Fluttershy’s shoulder.

The butter coloured mare let out a small yelp and closed her eyes tight, prompting Rainbow to pull back “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you” she said.

Twilight trotted over and looked at Rainbow “Go sit down” she said.

“No way!” Rainbow responded defiantly

“Now” Twilight said, flaring out her wings

Rainbow opened her own wings “No”

Applejack stood up “Dash, you best listen. She is a princess and all that stuff” she said. Rainbow glared at Twilight, walked to her seat, and sat down. She grumbled angrily to herself but didn’t do much else.

Twilight smiled warmly at Fluttershy “is something wrong, Flutters?” she asked, and her friend immediately shook her head

“I’m fine” she said quietly. “Are you sure?” Fluttershy nodded.

The alicorn opened her mouth to speak, but was cut off by Pinkamena “She’s fine, Sparkle. Leave her alone” she said.

Twilight looked like she was going to say something, but decided against it. She turned around just in time to see Rarity walk in. The white mare was wearing her old gala dress from many years ago, the first gala they all went to.

“The fabulousness had arrived, darlings!” she exclaimed, flipping her mane and fluttering her eyelashes.

Applejack rolled her eyes “Fashionably late” she said boredly, hanging over the side of the couch.

Rarity rolled her eyes and clapped her hooves, ushering in two mares, both in their late teen years. They quickly brought in an expensive looking couch, setting it down near the white mare. Rarity sat down on it and looked at Applejack “Still playing in the dirt, I see” she said.

Applejack narrowed her eyes “It’s called farming, and ah got cleaned up before ah came here” she replied.

Rarity scoffed “yeah right” she said, raising an eyebrow at one of her assistants, who immediately nodded and grabbed a large fan they brought, holding it in her mouth and fanning Rarity.

“So, Pinki-“ “Pinkamena” “Oh, of course. So Pinkamena, how has life been treating you?” Rarity asked.

Pinkie shrugged “Good, I guess. I got married to Main Course and now I’m a real estate pony. I’m pretty high up in the business” she said, blowing a strand of mane from her face.

“I’m surprised you didn’t bring sweets of some kind here” Rarity said, closing her eyes as her other assistant applied hairspray to her mane, fixing the curls a bit

“No, Main doesn’t like sweets. I stopped baking a while after we got engaged” Pinkamena said.

Rainbow Dash’s eyes widened “B-but you love candy and cake and stuff!” she exclaimed

“Used to. Main doesn’t like it so neither do I” she said simply. Twilight was quiet, wanting to listen to what the others had to say. “What about you, Rarity? Are you and Fancy Pants still together?” she asked, her voice losing a slight bit of coldness

“Oh, heavens no! A couple months after I moved to Canterlot, he had an affair with Fleur De Lis! Can you believe him? A few days after I ended it with him, I met the most wonderful stallion. His name is Time Turner, but ponies call him Doctor Whooves” She said, flipping her mane again. “Clover, darling, my hooves are a little dusty from the walk inside, could you give me a hooficure while I’m here?” she said, smiling as the young mare put away the manespray and quickly started on a hooficure.

“Doctor Whooves? I've heard of him” Fluttershy said quietly “A good friend of mine knows him” she said.

Rarity winked at her “Is this friend someone special?” she said suggestively.

Fluttershy shook her head “Oh no no no! I’m married to Filthy Rich” she said, brushing off any suggestion of another relationship.

Rarity gasped “You’re serious? I had no idea you could woo a stallion of that much importance” she said. “Why, he bought every single item a few months ago, had to close for a day to get more outfits to display” she laughed

Pinkamena smirked “you seem like the old Rarity I know” she said.

Rarity glanced at her “But I don’t think you’re the Pinkie Pie I know. Where’s your smile?” she asked with a girly laugh. Pinkamena opened her mouth to express her annoyance at the use of her old name, but Rarity continued talking. “Although I must say, your figure looks quite nice. All that candy wasn’t good if you wanted that slender yet stylish look, I suppose your decision to avoid sweets has paid off” she said. She glanced at her hooves, which were getting worked on by Clover “Make sure to shine them, last time you forgot” she scolded. The green mare blushed and nodded, making sure to shine Rarity’s hooves nicely.

Rainbow Dash didn’t say a word, just sat with her arms crossed. Fluttershy noticed this and made the attention turn to the cyan Pegasus “How are the Wonderbolts, Rainbow?” she asked softly, smiling as Rainbow beamed

“Theyre doing great, now that I’m part of the team. I talked to Spitfire, and I’m next in line to be captain” she said proudly.

"What about that stallion with a hankering for apple pies? Is he still around?” Applejack asked curiously, getting up from hanging off the couch and instead slouching on the armrest.

“Actually, me and Soarin’ are d-“

“Soarin’ and I” Twilight corrected.

Rainbow looked at her blankly, blinking twice before continuing “me and Soarin’ are dating now. Going on 4 months” she said, a smile on her face and her eyes sparkling.

Twilight rolled her eyes “that’s not gonna work out” she mumbled.

Rainbow heard her and her eyes narrowed “Excuse me?” she said angrily, getting off of her and standing up.

Twilight stood up as well “You heard me. It’s not going to last” she said “You know what’s going to happen? He’s going to profess his undying love to you, and the next day he’ll wake up to find you gone without a trace” she spat.

Rainbow growled “I only left because you were lying the whole time!” she yelled.

Twilight scoffed “I never lied once in that relationship! You’re the liar! I trusted you, and you abandoned me! You don’t deserve the element of loyalty” she snapped, her wings flaring open.

Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie and Rarity froze as they heard the cold words, like a chilly blanket draped over them.

Fluttershy stood up and walked over to the duo “Please don’t fight” she said nervously.

Rainbow turned on her, pure hatred in her eyes “Back off, loser! I can fight if I damn well want to, so buck off!” she shouted.

Fluttershy flinched “P-please stop”

Rainbow’s lip curled back and she lifted a hoof, striking Fluttershy’s muzzle so hard it knocked her back a few feet. The butter yellow pegasus burst into tears and curled into a ball. She endured treatment like this from Filthy, but she had expected to feel safe at the reunion, not to be hurt like at home.

Rarity stormed over and stuck her muzzle inches from Rainbow’s “You better back off, Rainbow Crash! She never did anything to do, yet you treat her like trash!” The white mare shouted, taking a step back and standing over Fluttershy.

Twilight glared at both of them “Rainbow Destiny Dash!” she shouted, causing the cyan mare to freeze at the use of her full name “You are no longer welcome in my castle” she snarled “GUARDS”

Rainbow’s eyes widened and she couldn’t seem to form coherent words as two blue pegasi guards came in and grabbed her. “Y-you’ll pay for this, Twilight Sparkle!” she screamed. Twilight snorted and turned back to the group.

Applejack was now sitting up straight, eyes wide and jaw dropped. Pinkamena was watching the display with an odd look of amusement. Rarity was still standing over Fluttershy, breathing heavily. Fluttershy was curled into a ball, her sobbing had quieted down and was reduced to little sniffles. “It’s okay Fluttershy” she said, reaching down to comfort the crying mare.

Her hoof was smacked away by an angry fashionista “Back off” she growled at the Princess “You caused this”

Twilight didn’t respond for a moment “You think I did this?” she said, dumbstruck.

Applejack stood up “Actually, ya kinda did” she said.

Rarity glared at her “You’re just at fault here. Twilight wouldn’t even have gotten into a fight with Rainbow if you told them about your stupid affair with that pie loving wonderbolt!”

Applejack’s jaw dropped and her eyes filled with hatred “YOU SWORE YOU WOULDN'T TELL ANYPONY!” she yelled, launching herself at the fashionista and barrelling her off the scared Pegasus. Applejack held Rarity down on her back, pinning her hooves above her head. “You swore!” she shouted.

Rarity just smirked “Bet you wish you didn’t tell me, cheater” she mocked. “Uh oh, the cats out of the bag”

Applejack’s eyes narrowed and her hoof connected with Rarity’s face “Shut up!” she snarled.

"To think that the element of honesty has been lying all this time to her best friends…” Rarity said with a mocking laugh, only to be silenced with another hoof to the face.

Twilight finally got her brain under control, somewhat, and turned to Pinkie “Help me!” she said, clueless as to how to break up a fight. The princess looked around for Fluttershy, only to see an open window “Damn it!” she said, stomping her hoof down. She looked at Pinkamena, who was laughing at the fight. She stormed over and knocked the pink mare out of her chair “Don’t you dare laugh” she snarled

Rarity lifted her hind leg and kicked AJ in the stomach, smirking as a pained sound came from the orange mare's lips. She shoved Applejack off, rolling over and pinning her down. "It seems I have the upper hoof now" The fashionista said, punching the applepony in the muzzle. For such a prissy mare, she could really pack a punch. Applejack spat at Rarity, the blood stained saliva landing on Rarity's violet mane. The marshmallow coloured mare let out a yell of anger and repeatedly smashed her hooves into Applejack's face.

Pinkamena just rolled her eyes and propped herself up on her forehooves, looking up at Twilight from her position on the floor "Lighten up, Princess" she said, turning her attention to the fight "I always knew that Rarity and Applejack had some tension between them, but full on hoof-fighting? Comedy gold"

Twilight narrowed her eyes and put a hoof on Pinkamena's chest "It is not funny! Our friends hate each other! I have no idea what went wrong!" Pinkie pushed Twilight's hoof off of her "Your friends"

Twilight cocked her head, confused. "You said 'our friends'. They are yours, not mine" Pinkamena said coldly, standing up. "Sorry, but I have to go. Main said I have to be home by 8" she said, blowing her flat mane from her eyes.

Twilight scoffed "Since when does your husband turn into your father?" Pinkamena didn't respond for a moment "He is a good stallion, he loves me and I love him" she said, turning from the princess and trotting to the door, pausing only to look back for a moment. Twilight though she saw a flash of sadness in the pink mare's eyes, but she couldn't be sure. She walked out of the room, leaving behind a shocked princess and two fighting mares.

Twilight spun around to the bloody scene of the two hateful mares. She shoved Rarity off Applejack, cringing at the bloody mess that was Applejack's face. The princess helped the farmer stand up, letting her lean against her for support. "Rarity, calm down" She said, magically levitating a cloth to the white unicorn, letting her clean herself off. "What happened to you two? You used to be such good friends! Sure, you had your differences, but you were still so close!"

"What happened was five years" Rarity said. "It's not my fault we all broke up. I went to Manehatten for my career, it was justified"

"My reason was way more important" Applejack said "I moved to Appleloosa to make Granny Smith happy! She deserved to be with her family in the last months of her life" her eyes teared up, but she wiped a bloody hoof over her eyes to hide the tears

Rarity rolled her eyes "She was going to die soon anyways, you shouldn't have acted so surprised when the doctor gave you the news"

Applejack's eyes darkened and she took a wobbly step towards her "Why you little--" Rarity spun around and flicked Applejack's nose with her tail "Come see me when you decide to leave those filthy mud ponies" she said, insulting Applejack's family as she trotted out the door.

Applejack's jaw dropped "She did not just insult the apple clan"

Twilight sighed "I'm afraid she did" Applejack narrowed her eyes "I have to go" she said, walking out of the room with rage in her eyes and one goal in her mind. She followed the sound of Rarity's hoofsteps, planning to make her pay.

Twilight looked around at the empty room, a depressed look in her eyes. She grabbed her crown and flung it at the wall, a loud clang sounding out. She collapsed on the couch and buried her face under her hooves. It's only been five years, how has everypony drifted apart? They should be laughing, hugging, talking about their life since they last saw each other. Instead, they fought and yelled!

She sighed and stood up, picking up her crown and putting it atop her mane, magically patting down the loose strands. She walked to the doors and opened them, looking at the guards.

"Midnight, I am going to my bedchambers. Postpone all my meetings and court dates until tomorrow, I need to relax. Send Flash Sentry to meet me there" she said, a hint of excitement to her voice. She nodded to the guards, relieving them of their posts as she trotted down the long hallways towards her chambers. She sighed and plastered a smile on her face as she passed a noble, nodding her acknowledgement to him. Her smile dropped as the noble left, the tired look returning. Tomorrow she would return to being a princess, but for now, she just wanted to be allowed to be a heartbroken mare who lost her friends.

Author's Note

The origin of this idea~I met up with some friends I haven't seen for years. They were all very different from what I remembered and we weren't close anymore. So I was thinking "What if the mane 6 met up after 5 years of being apart?" And that is how ~~Equestria was made~~ I thought of this story.
