Bonus Chapter

Previous Chapter

Princess Luna flew down next to Spike and gave him a comforting nuzzle, “Hello, Spike.” She said. “You pressed the button, I see.”

Spike shook his head, “I didn’t think that it would work at first…” he chuckled.

Luna gave him a smile, “I would never lie to a dragon as kind as you.”

The princess sat down on the balcony floor and looked up to the moon, “Why did you summon me here? Is something bothering you?”

Spike looked down at the balcony floor as his eyes traced the wooden swirls.
“Well… I guess something is bothering me.” He looked away from the floor and up to where Luna was looking. “Does… Princess Celestia ever make you feel like you aren’t a princess at all? Like she’s the only real royal in Equestria?”

Luna let out an emotionless laugh. “Yes, but it wasn’t like she was doing it on purpose.” She looked at Spike and said, “I had felt that way for the longest time, but I didn’t let my feelings be heard like I should of.

“Ponies would call my sister ‘The princess’, and in most royal meetings I would be left out entirely. I had barely any real royal responsibilities, and whenever I did, it was just to greet very important ponies at places like the Gala.”

Spike nodded, “I can relate to that…”

“How?” Princess Luna asked with a streak of curiosity in her tone.

“It’s stupid.” Spike wore a crooked smirk.

“Tell me,” Luna leaned in to give him another nuzzle. “Please?”

Spike thought for a moment before hesitantly saying, “This is going to make me sound jealous, but…” he shifted uncomfortably.

“It’s okay, what ever you say tonight will never be mentioned again to anypony, I promise.” Luna ensured him, smiling.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes before saying, “I kind of feel like whenever I try to bond with one of Twilight’s friends, they always just see me as ‘Spike, the irresponsible little brother’, and don’t even give me a chance to be their friend. I may be a mess up sometimes, I may be kind of childish, but why can’t they just give me a chance?”

Princess Luna frowned and wrapped a wing around him, “I know exactly how you feel.”
She pulled him close and said, “I feel as if, even now, the residents of Equestria won’t give me a chance to be as responsible as my sister. Having the responsibility of walking through dreams is great, but my sister gets to rule with the residents by her side, while I’m alone in dreamland.” Luna let out a huff. “Besides, it’s surprisingly rare that a filly or colt has some sort of problem that they need my guidance to solve.”

Spike leaned against Luna’s side and sighed, “I don’t know what to do…”
Luna smiled, “Wait.”

He looked up at her and raised an eyebrow, “Wait? Wait for what?”

Luna folded her wing back to her side, the sudden cold night breeze surprising him. “Spike, we all belong somewhere. Somewhere there is a place where you can embrace your true self without being rejected for it.”

Once more, she looked up at the stars and smiled. “You just have to wait for that place to come into view.”

“But… I love Twilight and her friends, I don’t want to have to leave them…” he wore a crooked smirk.

“Every bird has to leave their nest eventually, whether or not what lies beyond that nest is good or bad.” The princess stood up and placed a hoof on the railing of the balcony, “I must go now, or my sister might think that I’m lost.”

Spike stood up as well and ran over to give Luna’s foreleg a hug. “You aren’t going to tell Princess Celestia or Twilight anything about this or the button, right?”

Luna nodded her head, “My lips are sealed.”

He smiled and waved as she took off into the night sky, “Bye, Luna.”

Author's Note

Sorry if this isn't as well written as the first chapter, I kind of rushed the ending because I'm starving right now and felt the need to finish it before I eat anything.

Yeah, surprise bonus chapter. Even though I made tons of blog posts about it over a week ago... heheh... well, it's probably a surprise to some people.
If you see any spelling errors, please comment about it. I'm sure that there is more than a few in there.
