Prologue: Getting into a book
Its been a wile till I have been here said Twilight. Well its still Just how you left it, said Celestea as they walked into the Canterlot library, with a few changes. What do you mean? Then she saw him a young cyan colt with blue and mint green shaggy mane and an unicorn horn, and he was standing behind HER desk. With a ferrous look in her eye she stomped over there and said Who are you and what are you doing standing in MY desk! Uh Twilight that's the new Librarian. Uh new Librarian? Y-yes I was your replacement my name is Bookworm. Replacement!?! Seeing Twilight's bulging vane Celestea decided to butt in. Uh Twilight I had to hire a new Librarian after you left for Ponyvile. Well you could have cleared it with me first! I had to Twilight other ponies use the library other than you. Ug fine well why did you bring me here? well Twilight Bookworm has added a new wing of books to the Library that I think you would like to see before it goes public its very, Interesting. Fine I inspect his work, Spike! ug where is that dragon? Here Here I'm coming! Spike I want you to accompany me. Oh ok but..., But what Spike? well I had a gem stash hidden here before we moved to Ponyvile I kinda want to find it. Oh all right go find it and then come and find me ok. Can do Twilight, now where are your my precious gems.
Ok Bookworm where is this new wing? Its this way past the Fiction section. Oh I know what room your talking about wanna race? heh dose Pi go on forever? OK Ready-Set-Go! Hay hold on I wasn't ready! Twilight and Bookworm raced off to there mysterious destination. When they got there they found a small room with rows of bookcases and dim reading lights hanging on the ceiling. Well this isn't creepy, said Twilight. Oh its not finished there will be more color and brighter lights its still technically under-construction. Oh ok so what about the books, why are the, "Daring Doo" series in here none of these books have any thing in common. History books, adventure stories, romantic novels. you are by far the worst book sorter ever. Heh Heh well, these books are Special. Special? Special how? well there all of my creation not that I wrote them but that I enchanted them. Twilight went wide-eyed and immediately drooped the book that was in her magical grip. What!?!? There Enchanted?!? you do know that's dangerous right! Well ya that's why this area is off limits to the public wile I try to get the enchantments right. Wait there not done. No there done theirs just some bugs to work out. Ok so you brought me here to do what? To help me finish these books some of the books aren't enchanted so I need some help doing this. Now normally I would not ask a princes but I here this is kind of your forte you know, Magic and Books, so I thought you wouldn't mind. Twilight thought about this, you know I have had some bad experiences with enchanted books I was sucked into one and had to play the part of a super hero. It was fun but I would not want to do that again. Oh well though these are similar I have put in an built in ejector in each book if you can't handle it or you just want to take a brake theirs an emergency exit I call a bookmark. here I'll show you we will both jump into a book together and if you want to exit the book will eject us and return us to the real world. Eh ok I'll go and "test drive" one of your books but it must be one of my choosing. Ok Princes witch one shall we try first. uh, Twilight looked around carefully weighing her options, this one. Oh that a good one Daring Doo and the Staff of Suns. That's one of my favorites. Ya mine too...so how do we get in the book. You just open it. Bookworm then reached across and opened the book at that moment there was a flash of light a rushing wind and a slam as the book slammed shut and thumped to the floor.
Soon after they where sucked in Spike walked into the room. Twilight I found my gems Twilight? Huh I thought I herd something in here. Oh well Oof! Spike then bumped into the bookcase Uh Oh said spike as books rained down on the floor and at the same time there was a flash and wind and suddenly nothing literally nothing all the books where gone but one lone book convulsing and flashing wile holding the entire magical power of the Library. Man, Twilight is going to kill me! where is she any way? I gotta see if she can fix it. And off went spike to find Twilight unknown to him that Twilight was now Trapped in a never ending story.
Chapter 1: Daring Doo and the Staff of Suns
Flashing's of color and light where all Twilight could see through her closed eyelids and as quickly as it started it stopped. Replacing the whooshing of the teleport was the sound of exotic birds and the sent of trees. What...? ug... where are we? Where are you Bookworm? I'm over here! The voice came from a thicket off to her left. When she got there she found Bookworm stuck in the thicket. Heh heh kind of landed in an odd place can you help me? Uh sure hold on but when she tried to remove the barbs with her magic nothing happened. Huh? Why can't I use magic? *sigh* your Daring Doo you don't have magic. WHAT!!! Hay stop panicking your not really without magic only temporary until we get out of this story. Ok ok I'm fine, I'm not used to having no magic. lets get these thorns off you.
After a wile of picking, pulling, and painful grunts they finely got free. Ok so what now we wait till the story progresses. We don't have to wait for long look! Suddenly a Panther, Tiger, Leopard, and a Kitten jumped out to the bushes. Uh friends of yours? No my sweet there My friends! A dark shadow burst through into the clearing it was Ahuizotl. Ha Ha! Daring Doo what a pleasant surprise. What do you want Ahuizotl said Twilight (uh why did I say that?) (it was your line in the book just roll with it) ah nothing much, just the sol gem (the what?) (the sol gem its in your satchel you know I'll tell you later) So hand it over, coxed Ahuizotl. Uh... I don't have it. Hummmm don't have it eh well until you find it I'll take some insurance to make sure you bring me that gem. What? Suddenly Ahuizotl scooped up Bookworm and carried him off yelling "Ha Ha! see you later Daring Doo" Twi- er, Daring Doo, Bookworm yelled from Ahuizotls hold, find the gem and the staff then find me and then we can get out of here! Help!!! I'll find you, called back Twilight, but first I got to find that staff.
Finding that staff was easier said than done. At first Twilight didn't know where to start but an unknown erg told her to look in her bag. Must be part of the magic of the book. In her bag she found the Sol Gem a map some rope a bag of trail mix and a canteen of water. This map should lead me to the staff. Hummm it says I should go this way, and off she went to find the staff and save her friend from the evil clutches of Ahuizotl.
...And take a left at the tree and oh... Twilight found herself standing on the edge of a large canyon she had considered flying across but decided against it because of the deadly downdraft flowing through the canyon. Well now what? She then spied a bridge a little a ways away. Oh ok, but when she got there she found it to be very old and untended to. This is the only way across so might as well go. She then slowly trotted across careful not to break any boards when she got across she let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding. Well that wasn't so bad now to the staff.
Ug. Stupid. Plants. Twilight grumbled as she fumbled through the jungle. Suddenly she stood at the base of a large Pyramid with a large sun plastered on the side and steps going all the way up to the entrance. This must be it. Hummm unguarded most likely a trap...(why am I saying this...remember what bookworm said just roll with it) Twilight walked up to the temple expecting something to jump out at her. Evil Temple guards, fire ants, skeleton warriors anything but nothing came. Finally after climbing to the top of the pyramid there stood a long staff shining in the sunlight giving off an aura of power and beauty. That must be it said Twilight as she clopped up to it then after taking in its sheer size looking at her saddlebags she stated, I'm gonna need a bigger bag.
After some struggling she finally had a hold on the staff but the staff had other plans as it dropped down into the temple causing a tremor to shake the pyramid and rattle her bones. Oh pony feathers Twilight cursed as she began to tumble down the temple staircase. There's that trap I was waiting for. Soon after the tremor stopped temple warriors came out of cracks in the temple wall. It just keeps getting better said Twilight not sure why though normally she would be terrified despite her being an alicorn princess outside the book, though she wasn't afraid she actuality excited for the upcoming battle, must be some of that "book magic" changing her character. All that went through her over sized brain in less than a second enough time to prepare and engage the enemy.
Almost against her will she jumped and kicked hooves flying and she was able to fly around with ease avoiding spears and stray arrows shes never been able to fly like that, must be the book bookworm is pretty good at enchanting these things. Suddenly in the fray of feathers and dust she saw what she came here for, the staff sitting at the base of the pyramid on impulse or on the books command she dashed at the staff and snatched it and started racing away. But the temple guards ran after her. Oh come on give it a rest she yelled back as she approached the bridge. She quickly galloped across the rotting bridge and using a pointy sunbeam from the staff cut the rope that held the bridge causing many of the temple guards to fall into the canyon. she wanted to feel bad for them but realized that's its just a story and no one really died. then taking to the sky's flew off to find Ahuizotl and rescue bookworm.
After a wile of flying Twilight started to get discouraged. She has been searching for what seemed like hours. Finally she saw it a second temple but this one had a large golden sun design that was only seen from the air etched into the walls of the pyramid. There that must be it Twilight said aloud and then dived in to land on the top of the temple, but as soon as she landed the roof broke and she fell into darkness.
When she woke up she found herself strapped to the wall. Latter inspection revealed she was in a tall square room bones littered the floor and she found on her right another pony strapped on the wall but he was just dry bones which did not boost her confidence on getting out. Well this is quite the pickle we are in. Startled Twilight looked to her left to see bookworm strapped beside her. Bookworm! Whats going on where are we? Then a voice echoed through the room. Why, your in my little death trap Daring Doo. At that moment a figure appeared above them it was Ahuizotl. What do you want now Ahuizotl you got the staff what more do you need. I Need the sol gem Mis. Doo and unless you tell me where it is I'll let my pets have their evening snack. He then pointed to the far side of the room. A stone door opened and his posse of cats crept out of there hole. Every fiber of her being was telling her to NOT tell him where the gem was but her natural survival instincts won over and she just about screamed, "Its in my bag ok it's in my bag just don't let them eat me!!!" to her left bookworm looked like he just faced-hoofed if he could of course. Ahuizotl smiled. Thank you Daring Doo but, unfortunately for you I have run out of cat food so you will have to do.
Wait we cant die the book says we live I have future books to prove it what happened Bookworm! Twi you didn't stay to the script so now the book has broken free and we could possibly die. What! Oh this is your fault Books if I get out of here I'll...I'll... Are you done? asked Bookworm *sigh* Yes so what now we get fed to the lions like in ancient times? No, we ad lib! Bookworm then broke free of his shackles did a front flip and landed on the dirt floor below. Wha...what? how did you do that? the same way you're going to, Daring Doo does this all the time just, be her. But I'm not her! You are! Now hurry up I'm kinda fighting for my life. Said Bookworm as he vaulted over a panther and bucked it in the face.
(Ok Twilight you can do this.) She reached down into her memory or Daring Doo's memory and found out she did know how to pick locks. Following what she knew she plucked a feather from her wings and started on her shackles. When she got her right hoof free the work went much faster and soon she was free, and not a minute too soon because Twilight spotted the black panther creeping up on Books behind. "Books look out!" She yelled and she dive-bombed the panther squashing it under her hooves. Thanks DD now lets get out of here. Ya I'm getting tired of this dusty old Temple.
Twilight picked up Bookworm and they flue out of their death-trap then galloping through the temple halls. They finally found the main chamber standing in the center stood Ahuizotl. In his hand was the staff of suns with the Sol Gem resting on the top of the scepter. Ahuizotl! Twilight/Daring Doo exclaimed. Yes Daring Doo now with the staff of suns I can control the heavens and rule the world! Ahuizotl let out a spine tingling laugh that shook the cavern. What do we do Books? I- I don't know the book is off track and now anything could happen! Well I for one do not want to be stuck in a world where he rules the Equestria and it sun and not Celestia. So you got any Ideas your Highness? I-uh...she started to look around using hers and Daring Doos mind and expertise she formulated a plan. As a matter of fact I do have a plan. Twilight said as she broke into a grin. Good Bookworm said as he returned the grin ok lay it on me Princess.
Ahuizotl! Ah Daring Doo you do realize there is nothing you can do to stop me with the staff in my possession I can send fiery death upon you and scorch any city in all of Equestria! Yeah, well we can't let that happen now can we. We? Bookworm then jumped out from a pillar in the room snatching the staff from Ahuizotl's tail hand and quickly dashing back to Twilight. Ah! The staff! Give it back!!! Ha ha keep away, Bookworm tossed the the staff to Twilight and they ran around tossing the staff back and forth all the while Ahuizotl screaming curses at them that should never be published in a children's book. Then at one point when Twilight got the staff Ahuizotl looked like he was about to get his lucky pounce Twi closed her eyes waiting for his mass to land on top of her when...nothing, no sound no movement it seemed to appear that time had stopped. Wha-what happened? Twilight said aloud. Oh we hit a bookmark. Oh those things that you mentioned before that helps you escape your books? ya those things. Ok so you activated it? Oh no the book automatically chooses random points to bookmark at these places you can chose to continue or get out. Ok so why here? Its the most suspenseful part, why not. Well I guess that makes sense. So you want to leave I assume you have many princess duties to attend to? Yeah you're right lets go. Alright hold on, Book! Take Us Out! A familiar flash and wind and they were whisked out of the book.
Bookworm felt his hooves land down on the soft grass. Wait Grass!?! He opened his eyes and saw before him a wide open field standing beside him Twilight not looking like her but more of a Elvish like pony with a bow slung across her back. Twilight look back at him the same surprised face on her as he imagined on himself. Uh Bookworm what going on said Twilight with a slightly panicked tone in her voice and why are you so short? I- I don't know Twilight! I don't know!
