Holiday Kisses
Pinkamena was reading and says, "Seems like the enemy is making dark items from the light."
Golden Heart frowns while saying, "That's not good."
"Indeed but there is always a way to beat the evil." The pink pon insists. The others nod as Pinkamena says in her mind. "The evil counter parts will be getting their own elements made of pure darkness and the evil within me is still trying to take over. I will not be a killer. I will not become the killer."
But enough of that.
It is another Hearth's Warming Eve season in Equestria. The ponies are once again celebrating that great time of the season that was celebrated since the 3 pony tribes came together generations ago. And while last year's was almost ruined thanks to the warped minds of the 3 tribe leaders, things went back to normal at least.
Ben smiles as he is finish decorating the library. The stallion can't wait to celebrate. Granted the last few weeks were busy for him, Twilight and the ponies but at least now, there is time for celebration.
"One more thing," Ben said with a smirk as he uses his magic to pound in something on top of an arch.
"Hey daddy," Nyx said as she and Phobos came by. The filly notices that her father is pounding in something, "Whatcha doing?"
"One of the greatest traditions in Equestria..."
Ben smiles as he reveals what he himself has put up: a mistletoe; Phobos yelps and moves back, saying, "Uh huh! I ain't kissing ya!"
"It isn't for you, Phobos. It's for Twilight." Ben said with a smile of determination. "This year I am going to kiss her under the mistletoe. Last year was a big surprise so I will be pulling out another one just to really surprise Twilight."
"Well, hope you get that kiss from mommy." Nyx giggles as she heads off with Phobos. "See ya later. Good luck!"
"He'll need it." Phobos remarks to Nyx in amusement. With Twilight now a princess of Equestria, she got duties that could keep her busy.
Ben smiles a bit at the mistletoe and put on a saddlebag with more of it. If the one he hung up won't work, these will. Ben can't wait for that kiss.
Ben leaves the library, closing the door though is unaware that he knocked the mistletoe that was hung up down in the progress.
Ben was looking around and saw Twilight inside the city hall, working on the decorations. Perfect; Now to really get her.
"Princess, you think we should get that Johnny Brock singer to perform again." Mayor Mare suggests to Twilight thoughtfully.
"Who knows? He usually travels a lot. I will see what I can do in sending him a request." Twilight said to the mayor with a nod. Brock did so well last year, maybe this year, he could do an encore performance!
"Thank you. You always look out for everyone."
Ben smiles as he combs his mane. Time to do this; the stallion makes some mistletoe float up and prepares to head over to kiss Twilight...
Well, that would've happen except for one problem. You see, there are some ponies whose are allergic to mistletoe (one of them is ironically his cousin Cadance) and some are Pegasus who are flying around right now, with the decorations. They look horrified upon seeing what's floating.
"NO! MISTLETOE, FLY AWAY!" A Pegasus screams in terror, fearing a allergic reaction.
Ben yelps as the ponies fly/run around in a huge panic. Some of the stuff fell right onto him before the Earth pony got away. Soon, all got a bit quiet as Ben got up, Twilight, noticing, gallops over to help her love up.
"Ben, you okay?" Twilight ask Bem in concern. "What happened?"
"Oh, I'm okay, the decorations didn't hurt me." Ben said sheepishly to Twilight. "And what happened was..."
"Princess," Caramel calls over from through a door to outside. "We need you to judge the snow fort contest."
"Right, coming! We will discuss later, Ben." Twilight said as she rush off to do her job.
Ben groans a bit as he shakes the stuff off. The stallion was so close to getting that kid from Twilight.
"Trying to get Twiley to kiss you under the mistletoe, Benny?" Flash ask as he came over to get the rest of the decorations off his friend.
"Uh..." Ben begins to say but shrugs, giving him a 'yes'.
"Don't worry, Ben. I'm certain that you'll get that kiss from her."
"Oh, I hope so..."
Pinkamena was reading. She spoke up to a watching Golden Heart, "Anyway the gang are doing ok and there will be some kissing under the mistletoe."
"Ok." Golden Heart said with a nod. He hopes there will be some succeeding here.
Twilight is doing the usual judging, seeing which snow fort is the best. So far, she has judged Snips & Snails, the CMCs, even some foals that the Alicorn just met. Ben is watching from across an ice pond. This time, he made some mistletoe floats over his head and not too high. It's so he avoid a similar incident.
"Okay, Ben, you can do this, you can do." Ben said with a nod, breathing in and out. The stallion got onto the ice, sliding right over. "Twi..."
Ben was cut off again as he yelps and moves to avoid some ponies skating on some ice. That was a close one. The Earth pony however saw a huge hole in the pond forcing him to fly over. Ben smiles in triumph, that was a close one too.
Too close. Ben turns and yelps as he hits a tree which somehow sending flying right back. The stallion screams, causing ponies to see him flying. They run out of the way as Ben crash through the snow forts, knocking them all down.
Ben groans as he got out of the snowy pile that he himself. Twilight looks and sighs, "Well, looks like there is no winner due to the accident. Sorry, kids."
Ben gulps as the foals look at him, upset over what he did. The Earth pony said, "Sorry..."
The response; Ben got hit by a bunch of snowballs.
"How hard is it to get a kiss?" Ben asks with a groan as he drinks some cocoa over at Sugarcube Corner. Flash was sitting across him as he listens to the Earth pony, "So far, nothing. Perhaps I should wait to get home."
"Don't give up yet, Ben." Flash said, patting his friend on the back. "You can do it. Look, tell you what: tonight, I will tell Twilight that you need for something special important for her princess job in the park."
"Really; can you do that?"
"Now what kind of friend would I be if I lie to you?"
Ben smiles a bit. Flash is a good guy to do what he's going to do. The stallion is a bit nervous but he hopes to his mother that everything will turns out fine.
It was nighttime right after Luna put up the night. As promised, Twilight came over to the park and finds her colt-friend waiting for her on a bridge.
"Well, you got me here, Ben, so what is it?" Twilight ask Ben curiously. "So far, you got decorations fallen on you and snowballs has smack ya in the kisser. If I didn't know any better, I say you wanted me for something."
"Well, I figure we could...talk for a while, right?" Ben asks nervously. He decided not to put up the mistletoe yet. It will be a surprise.
As Ben and Twilight continue talking, they are unaware of two familiar figures watching: one of them is a Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony and the other is a familiar enemy wearing a cloak to hide himself.
"So what are they doing, Discord?" Lorcan asks Discord with a frown. "Are they going to kiss because you told me of the mistletoe incidents?"
"Nope, no kissing yet," Discord said with a frown as he watches that Ben and Twilight aren't doing anything yet. "This is boring. We need to spice things along."
"Discord, any love songs?"
"Kiss the Girl." Discord said as turns Lorcan into a crab.
"What the-" Lorcan demands in alarm and annoyance.
"Relax," Discord said to Lorcan as a French hat, mustache and an ascot appear over him as does a black and white striped sweater. He continues speaking in a terrible French accent, "Monsieur Ben and Madame Twilight, zey will kiss."
Discord snaps his fingers, making some drums appears. Lorcan roll his eyes as the spirit spoke up, "All right, time to create...the mood. Places people, places. Percussion," The drums are heard. "Strings," Some string instruments are heard in the background. "Winds," Various winds instruments are played. "Words," Discord clears his throat and begins to sing....
Of course, since I can't use the song here, you folks will have to imagine it.
Twilight looks surprised as she saw Discord leaning towards Ben's ear.
Discord disappears due to Ben looking behind himself, frowning as he ask, "Did you hear that?"
Twilight just shrugs a bit. Discord kept on singing.
Discord turns to ponies nearby who wasn't singing and playing in the song as he speaks, "Sing with me now."
Everyone in the area, minus Twilight and Ben, begins to sing while dancing and make special effects with magic and flying.
Lorcan frowns as he speaks to Discord, "You call that singing, Discord? You're butchering up a great song and turning it into an abomination!"
"Abominations...mutations....deviations; that's all you're ever gonna get from me, Lorcan." Discord scoffs to Lorcan as he kept on singing.
Twilight sighs while saying, "Ben, listen. If you feel...ignore lately, I'm sorry. I was visit with my responsibilities..."
"Yeah, I know, it's your job, I understand." Ben said with a slow nod. "And I apologize for getting in the way and..."
"Ben, I am not angry. The truth is, I already knew why you ask me here: you wanted to spend time and...I'm glad."
"Really?"
"Would I lie to you?" Twilight chuckles to Ben as she nuzzles near him, making the stallion smiles. Discord sings as Rainbow and Fluttershy, helping out, opens drapes as the two heads into a secret part of the park where Twilight and Ben floats over a lagoon.
Everyone begins to sing once more, all but the lovers.
Lorcan, still in disguise, jumped in front singing terribly, much to the mentioned singers' irritation.
Of course, DJ and the ponies cover his mouth to shut Lorcan up before singing the song once more.
Ben and Twilight smile to each other deeply. Everyone else looks excitedly as the two lean towards each other with the stallion making a mistletoe float out of his saddlebag...but without warning, one of the Pegasus, who got in contact with the mistletoe, sneezes loudly, causing Twilight and Ben to lose control of their flight and fell into the water. Everyone yelps as they rush off. Discord groans as he slaps himself. So close.
Ben groans as he and Twilight got out of the lagoon. The mare chuckles in amusement, "Well...that was a 'cold' ending. Right, Ben?"
Ben sighs as he checks his saddlebags and groans. All his mistletoe are wet and ruined. His chances are gone. The stallion shakes his head as he prepares to head off.
"Ben, wait, where are you going," Twilight ask Ben as she gallops after him. "I thought that was fun."
"That's the problem; I wanted it to be romantic." Ben said sadly while looking down. "I was hoping to get you under the mistletoe all day...to kiss you. And now, it's ruined."
Twilight blinks a bit then giggles while laughing. Ben looks puzzled. Why is she laughing?
Twilight calms down, smiling while saying, "Ben; I appreciate everything you did to do so...but you don't need a mistletoe for us to kiss."
"What do..." Ben was interrupted as Twilight kisses him, making him blush. Once she removes his life, he smiles. "Oh."
"I thank you so much for a good time....and that goes for you too, Discord."
The two looks up to see Discord holding up some fresh mistletoe over them from overhead. He shrugs while saying impatiently, "Come on; kiss already. I just want this to end already."
Twilight and Ben laughs as the couple kiss each other. Lorcan watched from nearby, sighing; Hope that is the last night that he deals with this for one night.
And thus, Ben finally got his kiss under the mistletoe
