Applejack slowly chewed her breakfast, savoring each bite. It was after all, her break. Somewhere in the distance a rooster began calling at the sun which was timidly poking its head out from beneath the hills. Applejack smiled as she pushed away from the table "always up before the sun" she thought to herself. She rounded the table towards her balcony door. Her balcony was her favorite place in the entire apartment . As she leaned on the guardrail she gazed down at the fruits of her labor, shining in the sun. Her empire had taken years of hard work and countless lives, but it was well worth it. About seventy-five percent of all the drug money in Manehatten flowed right into her overseas bank account. Applejack grinned slightly at the oblivious little ants on their daily commutes, little did they know that with a single word she could end any one of them. A loud banging on her door snapped her out of her trance. Sighing heavily she trudged back inside, giving the rising sun one final glance before opening her front door.
"Hey AJ".
"Pip you know its my day off Applejack sighed.
Pip frowned "The boss don't take breaks, right?"
"Well this one does" Applejack said as she began to close the door.
"wait!" Pip yelled.
"What?"
"I was supposed to tell you, Lyra's lab is being hit!"
"Well why hell didn't you say so!?" Applejack yelled.
"Oh, um i kinda forgot". Pip nervously adjusted his eye patch
. "How- you know what? its fine, get my car ready"Applejack smiled.
. "Are you sure you want to-".
"Yes i'm sure!". Applejack hissed angrily.
"Well OK you're the boss". Pip said as he turned away.
"Your damn right I am!" Applejack yelled after him.
Applejack put the bare essentials in her trench coat. A rope, Bandages, extra bullets, a knife, and her lucky six shot. The final step in her get-up was her hat, as she laid her hand on top of it she was hit with a wave of nostalgia. Memories of a simpler time filled her head, back when her line of work allowed her to make friends and she didn't have to look behind her back everywhere she went. She smiled maybe one day she could return to that nice life. "NO! This is your life now, there isn't any going back!. Apple-wood thought to herself clenching her fist around the hat. She breathed deeply, before placing the hat atop her head. She strode towards the door, glancing briefly at her unfinished breakfast. She sighed heavily. "some day off this turned out to be" she muttered to herself. She stood there for several seconds, just staring at the half empty bowl. She blinked. breakfast could wait, this was far more more important. Pip would most likely have her car waiting outside the building. She slowly turned around to face her front door. It was a magnificent door, crafted from the finest apple-wood. There were three apples carved onto either side, the door really didn't look like it belonged to a mob boss of her status. After some deep consideration Applejack pushed open the door. The hallway outside held no other doors beside the large metal elevator. She stepped out into hallway, the large windows and soft carpet created a very welcoming aura for her as she walked towards the elevator. Applejack pressed the down button. The elevator was there in a matter of seconds, and arrived with a pleasant dinging sound. Applejack,s penthouse was a restricted floor and you needed a key to access it. She stepped inside the small cube and pressed the ground floor button. The doors slid closed and the elevator began to move.
The elevator jolted to a halt and the doors slid open. Applejack stepped into the bustling lobby. She made her way towards the door, weaving through the crowd of people. She had knocked down at least five people before reaching the door. Outside she saw Pip grinning at her and waving. Applejack waved back and jogged over.
“ready?” Pip asked.
“yup” Applejack replied.
Pip motioned her along the sidewalk towards an alleyway. Inside were several tarps covering Applejacks’s personal collection of cars. One, however was uncovered. It was a pitch black Ferrari, “a real beauty” Applejack thought to herself. The windows were bulletproof, the tires reinforced to withstand all matters of debris and road spikes, the license plate was easily detachable, and finally, all the Ferrari symbols had been replaced with a green apple. Applejack grinned as Pip tossed her the keys.
“Aren't you going to drive?” she asked.
“Ill drive you anywhere but a firefight” Pip responded.
Applejack shrugged.
“fair enough” She said, revving the engine.
Buildings sped by on either side of Applejack, but her thoughts were elsewhere.
"i wonder if i'm too late." she thought.
suddenly the entire car jolted, the sound of shattering glass was all Applejack could hear. The car skidded to a halt as applejack released the gas, she sat there in a daze. She was brought back to reality by several repetitive fuzzy booms, which Applejack immediately recognized as gunshots. She instinctively ducked down and took a second to get her bearings. The car was severely damaged, this was apparent even from the inside. As the gunfire slowly subsided, Applejack took the chance to peek up at the direction of the gunfire. several cars were lined up several meters away, each had two men in suits with Tommy guns next to them. Applejack pressed herself back against the floor. "shit." she mumbled. She fumbled with her six-shot, an idea already forming in her head. She lifted the gun above her head and pulled the trigger 3 times, then she immediately slid into the drivers seat and slammed the pedals. yelling and the sound of engines could be heard behind her, but she was determined to reach the lab in time.
The lab was really just a run down warehouse near the bay. The bay was a large body of murky water with warehouses lining the side. the north side of the bay was a bustling trade center filled with foreign traders and cruise liners, but Applejack was headed to the south side. The south side of the bay was abandoned after a fire set by police in an attempt to smoke out some gangsters back in prohibition times got out of control and burned down most of the building. ironically, drugs were still made and shipped in this area, although mainly in the underground passages left by the gangsters and long forgotten by the police.
Applejack had made the trip many times, so the lab was easy to find. At first glance the warehouse housing the lab looked normal, just like all the surrounding buildings. But Applejack knew better. for starters the door to the warehouse was never open, much less blown of its hinges. She spotted a poorly hidden black van in an alleyway, most likely put their quite hastily. She overshot the building by 2 blocks for safety, but close enough for a quick getaway.
