Chapters "The Wonderbolt's want me ME!" Rainbow Dash screamed excitedly as she spread her majestic sea blue wings and flew up a short distance infront of the blazing sun which created a spectacular colour-filled aura surrounding her as
"Well congratulations dear I'm all so very proud of you!" The stunningly snow white unicorn smile back at her friend happy for her.
"Oooohh oooohh OOOOHHH! I'm so excited I could just burst!" The hyperactive pink pony practicaly screamed to them "This calls for a PARTY!" Twilight just rolled her eyes, Pinkie seemed more excited than Rainbow did!
"She said she would take me under her wing and teacher me everything she knows and be like my big sister" Scootaloo exclaimed to her fellow crusader's flapping her wings happily hovering a few feet off the ground before falling ungracfully back onto her small hooves.
"Wow Scootaloo did she really say that!" The young purple maned filly asked.
"YES! I can't wait for her to teach me how to fly, I always wanted to fly by her side!" The orange pegasus bounced up and down excitedly so happy her dream was finally coming true, ever since she saw the rainbow maned pegasus that stunningly crystal clear morning flying at the speed of light, flapping her spectacualr blue feathered wings effortlessly as she flew high up into the amazing sapphire sky so high she was nothing more than a spec in the young orange filly's light violet eyes, suddenly the mare started to soar back towards the ground at death-defieing speeds, leaving a spectacular vortex or colours behind her...BOOM! an explosion of colour filled the sky sparks of blue,red,green all the colours in the rainbow exploded right before Scootaloo's dazzled eyes, she wanted to be able to do that, she wanted ponies to watch in amazment as she filled the sky with a rainbow of colour and she needed that mare's help, that talented, spectacular mare's help.
Scootaloo galloped as fast as a jet, the wind howling, the crunchy old leaves dancing as she ran. Soom enough she reached a magnificent , rather large oak tree, she slowly opened the door and trotted in, looking around in amazment at how many novels must be on those strong, wooden shelves. "Well hello Scootaloo, what may I do for you?" The stuious, violet mare asked politly.
"I was looking for Rainbow Dash is she here? Oh please tell me she is here!" Scootaloo asked in return excitedly with worry picking a her throat.
"Wow there squirt I am right here, so whats up?" The rainbow pegasus she had been looking for asked casually
"Rainbow Dash! You said you would teach me how to fly today so I went looking for you, you ready to teach me?" The filly exclaimed with a whole lot of excitment "
"ugh sorry kid, the Wonderbolt's want me to try out for they're reserves so I have a bit to much on my hooves at the moment" Rainbow Dash said rather slowly tryibg to get Scoots to understand she new she had a few days till the try outs but teaching Scootaloo how to fly well that was a task since all the pegasi in her class already can, plus she had way better things to do.
"Oh, well maybe some other time then" The once eager filly said sadly as the trotted head down to the exit, her eyes started to water and the flood gates threatend to break and soon did like a waterfall at sunset calmly flowing down a rocky, steap cliff and plumiting towards the pool of foamy, rough water beneath. Suddenly Scootaloo had an idea, she raised her small hoof and wiped the crystal like substance of her orange fur, she ran back to the library a smile creaping back onto her face, she opened the ruby, wooden door once more and peeked in "Hey Rainbow Dash since you can't teach me today, can I please watch you practise instead? I promise won't bother you" The once again eager filly asked hopeing for that one word every foal wants to hear while out shopping with their parents
"Oh well um" started Rainbow she turned round earning a sturn look from Twilight "oh well ok, just try not to distract me squirt" Scootaloo jumped up and down like a yoyo she was so excited. Rainbow then spread her ocean blue, feathered wings and flapped them intill she was airborn, like an Eagle in search for it's prey or like a Bat observing it's surroundings "follow me kid" said Rainbow as she flew of towards a meadow near fluttershy's old fashioned but sunning cottage.
This is going to be great, Thought the filly in excitment.
Scootaloo watched in awe as Rainbow flew at insane speeds, but she had to admit she was some well bored.
Scootaloo started to scan the sky out of boredom, when she noticed another pegasus flying off in the distance. Out of curiosity she galloped over as fadt as a jet.
When she got there she was amazed this pegasus had some moves, she was just as good as Rainbow Dash maybe even better, the green dart set eyes on the small orange filly watching her and flew down to see why.
"Whats up kid?" The emerald mare asked casually but coming across somewhat kind.
"Wow! You were amazing up there, I wish I could fly like you" The flightless pegasus replied smiling and bouncing up and down like a yoyo.
"Well come up here and I'll teach you a thing or two"
"Oh well about that, I can't fly" Scootaloo said somewhat ashamed.
The older mare smiled "well maybe I can teach you?"
"Really? " The filly asked beaming, her eyes wide.
"Sure" The green mare beamed back.
"Oh my gosh, thank you" Scootaloo said trying her best to get off the ground.
"Oh, I never caught your name" The airborn pegasus said to the filly below her.
"My names Scootaloo, whats yours?" Scootaloo asked curious.
"Lightning Dust"
"So Scootaloo...Scootaloo?" Rainbow flew down in where the flightless filly was, wondering where she had gone. "Maybe she got bored" Rainbow Dash thought, still she missed the small filly's attention and applause, but sh also missed the fill because well her and Scootaloo were like sisters and well Dashie always wanted someone to show off to and to teach, boy she failed at that one, her ego got the best of her, like it always did. The pegasus took off once more soaring over the field till she saw two figures both looking familiar she flew down behind a emerald, flowery bush to she what was going on.
"Okay now Scoots, you need to flap those wings of yours harder and try to relax" The green older one said smiling at the orange filly that was staring up at her.
"LIGHTNING DUST!" Rainbow shouted jumping out of the bush "what are you doing here!" Lightning and Scootaloo looked at her startled Lightning smirked.
"Well you see Rainbow I was just teaching this young filly how to fly like us you know, pros!" Lightning glared at Rainbow remembering what happened at the academy, a few months back now, but still fresh in her mind.
"I don't want you teaching her, she'll turn out just as reckless as you!" the rainbow mare angrily shouted at her old enemy.
"Wait, you too know each other!" Scootaloo said confused, Rainbow Dash never told her about this other mare.
"Listen Rainbow a lot can change in a few months and I'm not the same mare I was back at the academy ask the Wonderbolts they want me to try out as a reserve!" Lightning hot back at Dashie ignoring the young Pegasus.
"Yeah right! Ponies like you can't change" Rainbow shouted back, she hadn't changed, plus Scootaloo was hers to teach.
" Look Rainbow Dash, I think Lightning Dust has changed, you can go back to practicing for the Wonderbolts if you want"
"FINE!" Rainbow shot back and flew of in a sudden burst of colour "I've wasted enough time already"
Rainbow Dash was furious, her enemy had just stolen Scootaloo from her, her most loyal fan. The Pegasus stormed into the library, Twilight turn away from her book and looked at Rainbow surprised "Rainbow, what the matter" she asked concerned.
"Lightning Dust, for some reason is here in Ponyville, and is teaching Scootaloo instead of me, Scootaloo even wanted her to teach her how to fly, what happened to me teaching her!" Rainbow finished her rant.
Twilight sighed "Listen, Rainbow, she wants to know how to fly, it means a lot to her, and you haven't tort her once, you kept making excuses, so at the end of the day, you kinda deserve it Rainbow" Twilight finished her lecture, Rainbow sighed.
"I guess your right, I just have better things to do you know" Rainbow said truthfully.
"You shouldn't make promises you can't keep you know, and Rainbow Dash is that all Scootaloo really means to you?"
Scootaloo trotted into the quiet, peaceful town looking for her idol Rainbow told her that she would give her a flyibg lesson today and the filly could'nt wait, but there was no sign of her anywhere just then Scootaloo saw Applejack trotting towards her the sun shining behind her, her magnificent light orange coat gleaming in the heat. The young filly galloped towards her as fast as she could she new Applejack was one on Rainbow Dash's friends and she was her friend Applebloom's sister. "woah there sugarcube, what got you in such a hurry?" The muscular mare asked the orange filly holding put a hoof to stop her in her tracks.
"I was looking for Rainbow Dash have you seen her?" Scoots eagerly asked hopeing the apple-bucking mare would have a useful answer.
"why yes sugar I saw her not to long ago at the library reading a Daring do book" Applejack replied smiling kindly to the small filly infront of her.
Scootaloo didn't want to waste anytime and galloped off shouting "Thank you!" As she speed off like a cheatah after it's prey, running down the various paths and alleys to the library
"Anytime!" Applejack shouted back.
"Right, Scootaloo, you need to strengthen your wings" Lightning Dust told the young filly "Try some press ups"
"Like this?" The filly asked red faced, she stopped, and sat down, brushing her wings, and flaring them out.
"Ya got it!" said Lightning smiling "Try some sit ups, copy me" she sat down one the emerald grass and carefully laid down, she put here hooves to her head and pushed herself up, she fall back down again. " Your core needs to be strong as well" she stated scientifically.
Scootaloo got down on the ground and sat on her flank, she lowered herself to the floor and put her hooves to her head, she pushed up with great difficulty, she collapsed back into the soft, grassy ground beneath her and breathed heavily, sweet cascading down her orange fur to her brow, she wiped it off with determination and went out it again.
"Wow Scoots! You must be determined to fly!" Lightning Dust recognised with amazement, she put a hoof on Scootaloo and they both sat up panting.
"Did I do good? Do you think I'll be able to fly?" The filly asked excitedly.
"Whoa, calm down there! I've only given you one lesson, practise makes perfect remember?" The older pegasus said with a smile, looking down with big, shining eyes.
Scoots looked up at her with equally wide lilac eyes "Oh yeah" She replied, she was kind of disappointed but knew her knew teacher was right.
"So Scoots you up for another lesson?" Lightning asked the eager pony.
"Are you kidding? Of course!" She shouted back excitedly.
"How about tomorrow? After you finish class?" Lightning Dust asked her student.
"Yeah! That sounds great! The filly beamed back at her new hero.
"Okay! Tomorrow it is! You want me to take you home? Scootaloo paused, Rainbow Dash never offered to take her home ever! Did she not really care for her all those years?
"That would be nice! If that is okay and all?" She asked shyly.
"Why of course! Why would I offer if it wasn't?" Lightning smiled down at the younger pony "Come on its getting dark, show me the way!"
Scoots started down the path, Lightning trotting next to her.
And awesome!
And her hero!
And the big sister Scootaloo always wanted.
