Technicolour Lures, and Light Gray Cures
As it was on most days, the sun was shining brightly, across all of Ponyville. A happy humming could be heard, sweet and elegant, as one would move about the streets. But who was the source of this magnificent sound? Why, it was Rarity of course!
The prim and proper unicorn was making her way back from her weekly spa treatment: Mane, perfectly quaffed. Hooficure, done to her, absolute specifications. Tail, curled and preened to a pristine shimmer, like her mane. She felt like a queen, as she always did when she left the care of the spa's employees, happy and humming, as she desired to return to her boutique.
Ah, the boutique, her favourite place to be: The centre, from which all of her magnificent designs, for her friends, and for her clients, are born. It was where she lived with her wonderful, if not misguided, little sister: Sweetie-Belle, lived in happiness.
Rarity was, often, thinking of new designs; searching for inspiration in every, little thing that fluttered past her azure hues. As was her profession, as a fashion-designer, to seek out the beauty in everything. Except for green. Ick, she couldn't abide that colour! It was so.. Uncouth, and dirty. A mare as magnificently elegant, and stylish as her, couldn't begin to associate herself with anything green.
She loved colour, bright and vibrant, shining, like a brilliant gem, beautifying everything it touched. A lot like that colourful shape, that was hurtling towards her. Wait- That wasn't right, why was there a colourful shape, bounding towards her? A realisation hit her, but it was too late. She felt an impact, then, immense pain, followed by a low groan. A groan that did not come from her throat, but of the shape that pummelled into her.
She felt pain, and then weight, accompanied by the prickling of the grass against her back. The shape had knocked her into a grass patch, just inside of an alleyway, by two houses. They were obscured from view, thankfully. Rarity would not have wanted anypony to see her in that dreadful state!
Shaking her head, the elegant mare tried to shove the unidentified shape from atop her, but she couldn't find the strength to do it. "Agh.. Get off of me, you ruffian!" She coughed, her vision blurred, and her hooves sinking into a soft, cyan coat. This coat seemed familiar, but why? What was it, about it, that sent alarm bells ringing off in her mind? She tried to blink the blurriness away, eventually managing it, with great effort, to see that the figure which had knocked her right off of her hooves, was none other than Rainbow Dash!
"Ugh.. Why don't you watch where you're going, Rainb-AHH!" Her statement was never finished, it was cut off by the vision of dirt, scuffing her perfect hooves. "My hooficure!" She cried, scrambling to pull herself from beneath the surprisingly weighty form of her pegasus friend.
"Uggh.. What a wicked spill.." The cyan-mare groaned, almost every muscle in her body aching from the impact. Thank Celestia she landed on something soft.. It was just a shame that, the soft thing in question, happened to be Rarity. "Agh! Watch where you're shovin' those things, will ya?!" She spat, the sensation of Rarity's hooves, prodding incessantly into her midsection, sent waves of pain through the mare's body.
She stood, albeit, shakily, and offered a hoof, to help Rarity up. Once they were on all four hooves, again, Rainbow rubbed the back of her head, in embarrassment. Boy, did she hate getting embarrassed. "Sorry, Rares. Didn't mean to knock ya over, like that." A tinge of pink, gracing the cyan mare's cheeks, as she apologized.
It was simply greeted by a huff, as Rarity regained her composure. However, the friendliness was not returned, in kind, as Rarity simply scowled at her cyan-coated friend. "Well, then, you should watch where you're going, in future." She scalded, turning her nose up in a huff, Rarity was always difficult to coax down from one of her moods, once her hooficure was ruined.
Frowning, Rainbow Dash scoffed, and gave the pearly white mare a gentle nudge, with her hoof. "Oh, come on, Rarity, it's not that bad. Besides, you gotta admit, it was pretty funny!" She chuckled, in her signature way, a small smile on the cocky pegasus' face. A look that only infuriated Rarity, further, as she shot her a look that would make Tartarus seem like a holiday resort.
"Funny?" Rarity growled, uncharacteristically. "You think that hurting your friends is funny?!" It was a look that the unicorn rarely gave; one that would assure anypony, that she was well, and truly, pissed. She turned her flank to the pegasus, her nose upturned in a snooty pout.
"W-well, yeah, like.. I don't mean it like that! It's just.. Seeing you flail around like that, it's sort of funny.." The cerise-eyed pony chuckled, nervously. She had never seen Rarity this angry, what was it about this particular incident that got her so worked up? Rainbow swallowed her stubborn pride, and hung her head, with a heavy sigh. "Look, I said I'm sorry, okay? What more do ya want from me?"
"Some proper etiquette wouldn't go amiss, Rainbow Dash!" The prissy unicorn hissed, in response. Although, the apology did reduce some of the irritation that Rarity felt, it was still there. She had finally turned to look the other pony in the eye, again, notably less annoyed with the situation.
Scratching her head, Rainbow heaved yet another sigh. "Fine, I'll watch where I'm going next time." She muttered, watching as Rarity checked herself in the reflection of a window. "Would you stop that?! You look fine! I mean, your coat hasn't ever been as awesome as mine, but it looks fine!" The rainbow pegasus teased, boasting about the greatness of her fur, ruffling her wings to accentuate the statement.
"This is no time for joking, Rainbow Dash! Do you know how long I spent with Aloe and Lotus, getting this just right?" The statement came out in a flustered panic, she was going to have to return to the spa, and wait all over again! Oh, the bother of it.. Rarity heaved a sigh of her own, before narrowing her eyes. "What do you mean my coat hasn't ever been as 'awesome' as yours?" She questioned, with a frown.
"Well, it's true! I mean, mine is really soft, naturally. Even though I hate that. It doesn't take much effort to manage! I don't need to go to the spa to get it to look like this." The cyan mare explained, that teasing grin was still on her face, giving Rarity the impression that she was trying to push her buttons again.
Frowning, Rarity looked over Rainbow Dash's form. She was right; the athletic pegasus did have a wonderful coat. She was also lucky that she didn't have to visit the spa every week or so in order to give it that lustre. "Hrm.. I suppose you do have a point." She rubbed her head as she caught herself looking a little longer than she should have been.
"Even though it's awesome, I still hate it." Rainbow muttered, this brought a rather flabbergasted expression to Rarity's face. "What? Don't look at me like that! I'm meant to look awesome! I have a great barrel, a rockin' flank, a strong core, awesome mane and tail.. And then there's my coat. It's so.. Stupid!" She groaned, a hoof pressing against her coat for emphasis.
"Rainbow Dash! There is nothing 'stupid' about having a wonderful, silken coat! You should be proud of that, don't wish it away like it was an injury to your wing!" She scolded, finding it offensive that the rainbow mare would even consider such thoughts. "I, for one, would be ecstatic to have a coat as marvellous as that!"
"Of course there is!" Rainbow said. "Look at me! I can drop kick a mountain of rocks, and I'm... soft? Is that cool? No, no it isn't. I can deal with having the long thick hair that I should totally grow out and make a ponytail, but the fur? Yeah, no." She winced, slightly, as she thought Rarity was about to slap her for saying something so 'uncouth', as the pearl unicorn would say. "You can slap me. I promise I won't slap you back, because I don't slap mares. I punch them.. I'm not soft.."
Scoffing at that statement, she gave Rainbow a look that said; 'You have no idea how much I want to, sometimes.' But she held her tongue, there was no use rising to it. "That said, I refrain from causing as much physical pain as I possibly can. Somepony has to be considerate, around here.." She sighed, looking about the happenings of Ponyville, with vacant interest.
However, a grin graced the unicorn's face, as she heard the mutterings from Rainbow's gritted teeth, she decided to act on this, it's about time the mare got a taste of her own medicine. "Oh? You? Not soft? I've seen you in dresses, Rainbow; I've seen you help others in strife. Face it, you have a soft side, Rainbow Dash." She teased, trying to make her grin as unnoticeable as possible.
She landed on the ground in front of Rarity, averting her gaze once more. "I don't. I don't want a soft coat. I don't want to look soft. I can't look soft. Not around you guys. You're my girls. My peeps. I have to be the tough one with AJ." She stroked down her blue chest, watching the coat part through her hoof. "And with fur this thick? It's... kinda hard sometimes. So yeah, I got image issues, and I... Take it out on the girl who's got a perfect image. There. I said it. You look fabulous."
That statement truly shocked Rarity to her core. Was.. Was Rainbow Dash complimenting her? Was she pointing out the physical aspects of her being, that would cause a stallion to make goo-goo eyes at her? No. No! That's just silliness, Rainbow wouldn't.. Would she? "That is because of the effort that I truly put into my appearance. I know that doesn't appeal to everypony, but it's part of being a lady." She explained; feeling as though her argument was.. Emptier of reason, compared to Rainbow's. "Besides, you cannot compare yourself to Applejack! She has a completely different lifestyle to yours, there's no way that the two of you could be on par." She was trying to console the pegasus, but was she even making progress?
Rainbow sighed. "Maybe I do need to forget about comparing myself to AJ. I'm a different girl and just am more emotional, you know? Hard to forget about her massive as-" Rainbow shook her head rapidly. "I... mean... uhh..." She needed a solution. Of course she checked out Applejack. It was... huge! She had huge tracts of... land, on her. She was Rainbow's sister from a different mare. But Rarity didn't need to know that. That was bad. She had to find some way of distracting them from this awkwardness.
So she solved it by pecking Rarity on the lips.
Rarity was stupefied. Rainbow had kissed her. It wasn't a deep, passionate kiss, just a peck. But still, it took the unicorn's breath away. Her heart had begun to pound, she started sweating. Her, Rarity. Rarity was sweating. It was so unexpected, she didn't have any time to react. She simply stumbled back and plopped down onto her flank. "R-Rainbow.." She muttered, completely unable to form a straight sentence in her head.
"Oh man, oh man, oh man, what did I just do?" Rainbow panicked, of course, these panicked statements were all in her head. She didn't voice them out loud, she didn't believe that she could! Why did she just do that?! She didn't like Rarity.. Did she? Come to think of it, it'd explain why she was acting so.. Weird around her. She had to act. Had to do something else, she couldn't just leave it like this! "I... umm..." She blinked several times, her tail flicking up and down in an attempt to divert the tension in the air. "I... uhh..."
"Get your head back into reality, Rarity! Stop staring into those gorgeous, cerise hues, and say something, darn you!" But nothing; she opened her mouth, to try and say something, but all that left her lips was a barely audible squeak. This only deepened the blush on her cheeks, if that were even possible. Rainbow Dash had just kissed her. She was just kissed by one of the, single most, attractive mares in Ponyville. And she was standing there, unable to respond, due to the shock.
Rainbow, on the other hoof, was simply standing there; making random "ah"'s and "um"'s, seemingly just as shocked by what she just did, as Rarity was! What was she going to do? This could ruin their friendship! She couldn't just stand there and let Rarity fret over the details. That mare was always over-thinking things, and this would be the worst thing for her to over-think!
Kissing. That solved things. She quickly pressed her lips back into Rarity's. Her wings shot up from beside her body as she squished her snout into Rarity's own. There. She didn't have to think. She could even close her eyes.

She shook her head, as she banished the thought from her mind. Looking to Rainbow, she was the first to break the uneasy silence.
"So.. What was that, exactly..?" Her question seemed to draw something of a wince out of Rainbow, as though she had expected Rarity to explode with rage. Truth be told, the unicorn was just as confused as Dash was! But.. She liked the kiss, didn't she? It certainly stirred up some feelings that she hadn't felt in a long time. Lust.. She stammered, one would think that she was stalling, if she didn't look so embarrassed. "I.. Like you, Rares.." The pegasus admitted, bashfully, as though she was talking to a long-time crush. That wouldn't have been too far from the truth, actually. Dash had these feelings for the unicorn for a long time, and it was only now that she was expressing those pent up feelings. But, did Rarity feel the same way? It definitely seemed like it, but.. She had to be sure!
Rarity blinked; did she hear Rainbow Dash correctly? She liked her? She wasn't sure of her own emotions, not whilst she was so 'excited' from their lengthy, heavy kiss. The taste of Rainbow was still on her lips, she tasted like cinnamon, mixed with a tinge of blueberry. How apt, considering the colour of the mare's coat. Maybe Rarity was over-emphasising the taste, but that was besides the point. She bit her lower lip, and scratched the back of her head with a hoof. "How much?" She asked, before clearing her throat. "How much do you like me, Rainbow Dash?" Her azure hues looked up into those cerises. Her own eyes were burning with a lust that even Pinkie Pie could recognize.
The pegasus gulped, and took a few steps towards Rarity. She brushed her muzzle against the unicorn's neck, and placed gentle kisses as she went. All the while, her hoof extended to trail down the side of her barrel, to her flank, and rub along her cutie mark. After a few moments, she leaned back up to whisper into Rarity's ear. "Enough to take you.. Right here, and right now.." Her voice had something of a predatory lust mixed in there, it made the unicorn shiver down to her very core.
That's all she needed to hear, and with little reservation, she pulled Dash into another heated, tongue-filled kiss. Looking around, Rarity realized that, regardless to the obscurity of their position, they were still out in the middle of Ponyville. All it would take was a stray pegasus flying over them to see, and.. Oh Goddesses, the thought almost made her panic, alone!
She took a breath to calm her nerves, and with a bite of her lip, leaned back over to Rainbow's ear. "This evening.. The Boutique.. You're staying the night, so bring anything you need." It sounded more like a command than a suggestion, but, who was Rainbow to complain? The beautiful unicorn was inviting her to stay the night! Who knows what they'd get up to whilst they were alone! She quickly nodded, and placed a gentle kiss against Rarity's cheek. "I'll catch ya later, then." She grinned, and took off back to Cloudsdale as quickly as she could, leaving Rarity to stand in the middle of Ponyville, with an itch that she desperately needed to scratch...
The unicorn wasted no time making her way back to the boutique. But it wasn't under the pretences of getting ready for the night ahead, oh no. She couldn't even think of such a thing without the incessant burning between her thighs distracting her every, waking thought! Clearing her throat, she tried to calm her nerves. Sweetie Belle. She had a few hours to kill, so she decided that she'd go and 'walk' Tank, her pet tortoise. The little guy slowly padded over to her, giving her a small greeting by nudging against her leg. After gathering her things, she made her way over to the Carousel Boutique. With a couple of knocks to the door, Rarity answered with a rather large smile. "Come in, quick!" Her voice was a harsh whisper, as though she was trying to hide the fact that Rainbow would be seen walking into the boutique. "Uh, Rares, you know it's not weird for anypony to see me coming in here, right?" The unicorn gave a small sigh and nodded.
"I suppose you're right, I'm just.. Not used to these things, you understand, don't you?" It was true, neither was Rainbow Dash, she wasn't used to having these kinds of feelings for anypony, let alone a mare. But still, as long as they didn't act incriminating, there was nothing to fear, right?
Letting out a sigh, Rainbow scuffed her hoof on the floor, and decided to deal with the 'elephant in the room'. "We need to talk, Rarity." When Rainbow Dash says 'we need to talk' that's when you should get worried. The unicorn's ears perked up, as she wordlessly allowed the pegasus to say what was on her mind. "I.. I don't know if I can do this." The words came out wrong, that wasn't what she meant.. "What I mean is, this whole.. Sex, thing. I.." She grunted at herself, in irritation. Out with it, already! "I.." No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't get the words out. She knew what she possibly felt, but there was something holding her back. Was it the fear of rejection?
