//-------------------------------------------------------// Comic Relief - The Sequel -by kittyhasnosoul- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Casual Conversations //-------------------------------------------------------// Casual Conversations Life without Twilight was boring, even if she usually was out with her friends most of the time, the library still felt empty without her. It had been two months since Twilight had left, sure, Spike had gotten to see her a few weeks ago on her birthday, but it was just for one day. Spike had took full control over the library, taking Twilight's place. It filled his day with chores and things to do, but he still felt as bored as a rock. He sighed as he swept the wooden floor of the kitchen, he had just made himself a Gem Cake but accidentally spilled the batter everywhere when stirring it with his wooden spoon. His gems had fallen to the floor, leaving little sharp shards of deliciousness everywhere. Every time Spike saw one, he picked it up and ate it. It didn't taste the same as it did when it hadn't been left on the floor for ten minutes. As soon as most of the batter was removed from the floor, he dropped the broom onto the floor and headed up to his room for another nap. Just as he laid down in Twilight's old bed which she had given him so he couldn't hurt his back sleeping in his little bed as he matured and got older, the bell from the door rang, indicating that a costumer had entered the library in search of a book. He groaned, then got up from his bed and walked downstairs. "What do you wa- oh, hey Apple Bloom!" Apple Bloom grinned, "Hiya, Spike! I got some good news," she pointed a hoof at her no longer blank flank. Spike smiled, "Well it's about time you got your cutie mark. How's Sweetie belle and Scootaloo doing?" Apple Bloom's smile dropped, "Sweetie Belle found a coltfriend and hasn't talked to us since, and Scootaloo's trainin' for flight camp, so she has no time 't hang out." Spike looked down at the wooden library floor, "That stinks.." Apple Bloom sighed, "Yeah. Well, ya' hear anything from Twilight ma sister n' her friends lately?" Spike shook his head, "No. I think she's too busy with her princess duties to write." "Applejack wrote me somethin' bout how they defeated a out-of-control manticore last week, and how Rarity found a coltfriend when they visited the Crystal Empire two weeks 'go." Spike narrowed his eyes angrily, "I heard about that, too. He doesn't deserve her," he muttered. Apple Bloom patted him on the back, "Sorry 'bout that, Spike." Spike smiled weakly, "It's okay. How's your special somepony doing?" Apple Bloom grunted, "Diamond Tiara? She's on a trip to Manehatten right now with Silver Spoon." The dragon's eyes widened, "Those two are still friends? I thought they split up back in middle school.." She scoffed and crossed her forelegs, looking down at the ground. "Apparently they're still friends, considering Diamond Tiara decided to take their old friend who screwed 'er over back when we were fillies instead of her marefriend who stuck by her side no matter what." Spike frowned, feeling genuinely bad for Apple Bloom. "What did you come here for, anyway? Need a new book or something?" Apple Bloom looked up from the ground, "Just stoppin' by to say hi." Spike looked at her suspiciously, "Really? Just to say hi?" "Okay, fine, I was lonely at the farm. Big McIntosh is too busy workin' the fields 't hang out with me like a real big brother, and Granny Smith is.. yeah.." Spike noticed the tears that was beginning to appear in the bottom of her eyes, "Want to have lunch here at the library? I was going to make a gem cake, but.. that was a big fail." Apple Bloom looked over Spike's shoulder into the kitchen to see a spilled bowl of sugar and shards of ruby, turquoise and other colors scattered around the floor. "We should eat in the livin' room," Spike nodded, "Yeah." With that, the two walked into the living room to have lunch together. Spike and Apple Bloom had ordered take out, considering they couldn't use the kitchen due to the mess. "So, how's Big Mac doing?" Spike asked, picking up another slice of pizza and taking a bit of it. Apple Bloom shrugged, "I dunno, actually. He's usually workin', and whenever he ain't he's with Cheerilee." Spike swallowed the bite of pizza he had been chewing to say, "So do you ever talk to anypony at all?" Apple Bloom sighed, "Well, not often. Usually whenever I talk 't somepony it's for a just a few minutes to say hi." She then picked off a few olives off of her pizza, "When's the last time Twilight sent ya' a letter?" she asked. "A few weeks ago, want to see it? I save every letter that Twilight sends me, for future blackmail." Apple Bloom nodded, and Spike stood up and walked over to the other end of the coffee table and opened the small secret drawer. He pushed over some scissors's, a few paperclips, a button, and a purple bookmark until he found what he was looking for; a scroll wrapped in red ribbon with a golden sticker holding the ribbon together. He walked back over to Apple Bloom, removed the golden sticker and opened the letter. It read, Dear Spike, Did you know that if you live in a tree for four years of your life, then move into a bigger magical tree castle except this time five other ponies live with you, it's quite loud at times? Especially when Rarity decided who stays with who. Two pieces of advice; never put Applejack and Rainbow Dash in the same room, and never agree with having Pinkie Pie as a roommate. Trust me, it's worse than it sounds. I haven't slept for days! Anyway, on the bright side of things, I am enjoying my promotion. I do admit it's a bit hard without the princess around to guide me on things, but I have five wonderful friends who each know about only one thing. Apples, fashion, flying, parties, and things that poop on your carpet animals! How can my life get anymore perfect?! Sorry for the sarcasm, Your friend, Twilight Apple Bloom looked up from the letter, "What was that about not puttin' my sister in the same room as Rainbow Dash?" Spike shrugged then said, "Twilight must of been drinking when she wrote this, she seems really unlike herself." "She does seem a bit cocky, with the whole remark 'bout how her friends don't know anythin' other than what their special talent revolves around." Apple Bloom agreed, shaking her head. "Well, I best be goin' now, don't want Mac to get worried." Apple Bloom said as she stood up from the couch and took one last bite of her pizza and waved goodbye to Spike. "Bye, Apple Bloom! You're welcome here anytime you want." Apple Bloom smiled at him, and Spike smiled back. As soon as the bell on the door rang once again, Spike stood up and sighed. "I miss Twilight." //-------------------------------------------------------// A Button, or a Blade //-------------------------------------------------------// A Button, or a Blade Spike hadn’t been his best lately, especially ever since he heard news that a new pony was going to be taking over for Twilight; Cherry Blossom. She was new to Ponyville, and apparently had been a Manehatten librarian before she moved to the country. Spike had three days left of being in charge of the library before he went back to being an assistant for a pony, and the worst part was that this pony wasn’t Twilight. Of course, he needed the help. Running a whole library with only two claws wasn’t the easiest thing in Equestria. He stood on the latter in the library which leaned against a bookshelf of books, searching for a book titled ‘How to be a Great Marefriend’ For Sweetie Belle who awaited beneath him. “How’s this one, S. ‘Belle?” he asked, waving the book in the air from up high. She took a look at the book, “Who’s the author?” “Jerome D.,” he responded, his feet almost slipping from the latter, luckily he gained balance once again before he fell. “A colt? Really? Listen, Spike, I am not going to take dating advice from a colt!” Sweetie Belle’s sudden outburst frightened Spike, and he quickly shoved the book back into place and then began searching for a book by a female author. “How about this one?” he said, anxiously waving a book titled ‘Colts, Dates, and Other Things’ by Heather R. Sweetie Belle shook her head, “Yes, I guess that will do.” Spike sighed with relief, then began to walk his way down the latter. “I heard that the library was getting a replacement for Twilight,” Sweetie Belle’s eyes widened as Spike handed her the book with his left claw. “Spike, what is that?” she asked, pointing at a small cut on his arm. “Oh, I uh...it’s a um...paper cut. Yeah, I was getting a book for Lyra Heartstrings and accidentally got a paper cut, nothing to worry about.” Spike grinned sheepishly, then tucked his arm back behind his back. “Oh, okay.” The mare smiled, then picked up the book with her magic and began to walk back home. “That was a close one..” Just after the door closed, it opened again, drawing Spike’s attention. He peaked over to the doorway, and saw a tall mare with a light pink mane and a darker pink coat. “Uh, can I help you?” he asked, walking towards the doorway. “And, who are you? The library’s pet?” she scoffed, then walked into the room that Sweetie Belle had been in just a few minutes ago. “I work here now.” she said, her  sea-blue eyes threw daggers at Spike. She turned towards Spike, “Really, what are you doing here?” “I...I work here..” he stuttered, slowly walking backwards. “Puh-lease!” she laughed, “Babies don’t have jobs. Where’s your mommy?” Spike growled at her rude words, “I am not a baby, I am fifthteen years old!” he then looked down to the ground and rubbed his shoulder with his opposite hand, “And… I don’t know where my mom is, but that doesn’t matter.” Cherry Blossom continued to laugh, “Okay, just don’t get in my way. I came here to get paid, not to babysit a child!” Spike felt tears swell up in his eyes, Cherry Blossom took sight of this and said, “Oh, suck it up, crybaby.” she said, her pink tail smacking him in the face and leaving a scar on his cheek. Spike had had enough of this and ran upstairs into his room. He slammed the door shut, and the lock went click as he locked it to ensure that Cherry Blossom wouldn’t walk in on him. He walked over to his dresser and rapidly searched for two items; A button, and a blade. Once he had found both of the objects, he brought them over to his bed and layed them out in front of him. His eyes switched back and forth between the button and the blade, deciding. Once he had made his decision, he moved the button aside and picked up the blade. He held the blade in the palm of his claw for a moment, having second-thoughts. “No,” he said to himself. “I….. why am I doing this to myself?” He sighed, then closed his eyes to think for a moment. This isn’t me. I wouldn’t be doing this to myself. What would Twilight think of me? She probably doesn’t care.. I’m all alone. He opened his eyes, hoping to be in his little bed basket with Twilight sleeping in her bed. But instead, he was alone, in Twilight’s old bed, on the brink of self-harm. ..Well, more self-harm that he had already done. He stared at the blade for a few more minutes, hoping for something to happen. He heard a knock coming from the outside, and quickly put the blade and button under his pillow before answering it. He opened the door, “Yeah?” Cherry Blossom pushed him over onto the ground, “Is this where I sleep?” Spike had landed on his arm, and clutched it tightly to his chest in pain. “What’s wrong, crybaby? Get a little boo-boo?” Cherry Blossom teased, laughing maniacally. Spike ignored the pain in his arm and yelled, “I am not a crybaby!” Cherry Blossom laughed again, then pushed him over with a hoof, causing him to stumble backwards. She caught sight of the scars and cuts on his arm, “Cutting, eh? Oh, I knew you were pathetic.” She walked over to him and poked at the cuts, “Fresh? When’d you do these? This morning? Ten minutes ago?” Spike whimpered in pain as her hoof touched his tender skin. “Oh, so this is what you did when you came in here?” “S-stop it, j-jerk..” he muttered, kicking his legs at her. “Moi, jerk?” she asked, pulling off the most innocent face she possibly could. She picked the dragon up by the scales on his head, then walked over to the bed and dropped him onto the bed. “Now, where do I sleep?” Spike grunted, “The guest bedroom, two doors to the left.” Cherry Blossom nodded, then exited the room. Spike sighed in relief, happy that the pony was gone. He then crawled back over to the pillow and lifted it up, revealing the blade and the button. This time, he chose the button. “Oh Luna, I hope this works..” he said, eyeing the center of the device. //-------------------------------------------------------// Meanwhile... //-------------------------------------------------------// Meanwhile... "Twilight, calm down!" Rainbow Dash shouted. "No!" Twilight shouted back at her, digging threw a purple suitcase. "I know I brought cameras! They have to be somewhere in here!" She grunted as she picked up a bag of chips and threw them behind her, hitting Fluttershy in the muzzle. "Oops! Sorry Fluttershy," Twilight apologized, and Fluttershy nodded. "It's okay, Twilight. Why do you need a camera so badly?" The alicorn sighed, "I installed spy cameras in the library before I left, and I just heard that they're hiring a new pony to take my place as librarian! I have to make sure that Spike is okay." Twilight began to hyperventilate, "What if she is mean to him?! Help me look for the cameras now, please, girls!" The five ponies that were standing around her silently grunted, then began searching threw the suitcase. "Wait, Twi why did you bring a- found it!" Applejack shouted, holding up a small television. Twilight grinned then plugged it into the nearest light switch, and switched to the setting labeled 'Spike's Room'. Her pupils shrunk. "Guys, we're going to Ponyville." she said, standing up and rushing up to her room to pack, leaving the rest of the five confused. //-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight's Kingdom (Prologue) //-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight's Kingdom (Prologue) Spike wiped some tears from his eyes as Twilight packed her bags to leave, "D-do y-you ha-have to go, Twilight?" he said, trying his best to not let his voice crack. Twilight looked back from her suitcase in which she was packing with clothes and books, "Yes, Spike. I have a kingdom to look after now," she paused for a minute to shove a shirt sleeve back into the suitcase so it wouldn't get caught in the zipper. "And Princess Celestia and Luna have transferred their royal duties and responsibilities to me." Twilight's mane was highlighted yellow, and of course her signature pink and purple stripes, and the tips of her wings were magenta and raspberry purple. This change took Spike by surprise, he had not expected things to change this fast after Twilight had just gotten used to being Equestria's newest princess. It was a good change, in the sense that now Equestria had a replacement for the Elements of Harmony, but now Twilight had a kingdom. Her own castle, everything that a real princess had in the movies. It had not been any easier for Twilight to get used to this change, but she was ready for anything after she gained an extra body part over night. Twilight's bags were now fully packed, and she gave Spike a quick kiss on the forehead before heading out the door to get in the carriage awaiting her arrival from outside. Spike watched from out the kitchen window as Twilight hopped into the carriage and it swiftly took her away with a few flaps of the Pegasi flying the carriage. He wiped another tear from his eye as he left the window ceil to finish his morning chores. "B-bye T-Twilight.."
