"Done!" said Rarity in a tired but happy voice. Rarity had just finished the last dress for Sapphire Shores. She went upstairs, put on her nightgown, and left her makeup on because she was ever so tired. Rarity curled up into her bed and had gotten comfy, when a tapping was heard on the window.
"What could be up at this time of night anyway??" asked Rarity to herself
She walked to her window, looking out, but nothing was there. Rarity went back to her bed, but the tapping was there again. Rarity checked the window, again, nothing was there. Rarity groaned when the tapping happened for the third time. When it tapped the fourth time, Rarity didn't even bother to check who it was anymore. That was the worst mistake Rarity ever made. The tale goes...
When you hear a tapping on your window, don't ignore it, for the Beasts of the Dark will come and posses you in your sleep.
That's exactly what happened. the Beasts of the Dark got through Rarity's window and possesed her while she slept. These Beasts of the Dark have another name, that name is, Nightmarelings. The same creature that possesed Princess Luna. When the Nightmarelings were inside Rarity, her eyes opened quickly. Her eyes weren't the same blue anymore. They were a light blue with white diamond-like sparkles followed by cat-like pupils. She had grown as well. Now she was as tall as Princess Celestia, but instead of white, her coat was now black. Rarity also had gotten a necklace with a blue diamond (much like her Cutie Mark) that shined brightly. The same thing was on her unicorn horn. Her mane was now very long and wavy, with a white strip in the middle (like Twilight's). Her Cutie Mark consisted of now 8 white diamonds and still 3 blue diamonds. Rarity's tail grew as well as her mane. It was also long and wavy with the same white strip.
Nightmare Rarity cackled, her voice sounded like a mixture of Nightmare Moon's and Queen Crysalis's voices.
"It feels so nice to be in a vessel once again! And this vessel is a nice one, more like that silly little Princess Luna, and I feel very powerful!" said Nightmare Rarity, and she started using her magic to make darkness cover the sky, like what Nightmare Moon would do.
When Nightmarelings leave one body, they become much more stronger, no matter what the vessel's personality is like.
Twilight was in her library looking through her telescope, searching for new Constilations of the stars. She looked confused when she stopped scanning the sky. Twilight could no longer see the stars, or the moon. Spike was with her and asked,
"Whats the trouble Twilight?"
"I have a problem, I can't see the stars or even the moon!" exclaimed Twilight.
Twilight looked around Ponyville, but of course, no pony was awake. Then Twilight saw a dark blue mist coming from Rarity's open window. She took off flying, leaving Spike behind. Soon Twilight was at the Carousel Boutique, knocking on the front door.
"Hello? Rarity? Are you there?" asked Twilight with a tone of worry in her voice.
Nightmare Rarity replied in a high pitched voice, "Yes I'm here come in come in I'm upstairs."
Twilight knew that wasn't Rarity. She was in a big decision. Was that Rarity playing tricks on her? Or is there something controlling Rarity? But what was mostly on Twilight's mind, what was that blue smoke and where was it coming from?
Nightmare Rarity laughed silently to herself. Certainly the pony on the other end would enter. Nightmare Rarity went back upstairs to Rarity's room and started making the blue smoke once again, covering the sky. Then she her a door open, then close. Nightmare Rarity stopped making the blue smoke. Light was leaking under the door into the dark room that Nightmare Rarity was in. Nightmare Rarity looked pleased with herself. She waited for the pony to come upstairs into Rarity's room. Soon enough, Rarity's room door opened slowly and Nightmare Rarity closed the window and made the blue smoke in the room. Nightmare Rarity could see through it like it was nothing, but no pony else could.
"Hello? Any pony in here?" said a voice. Nightmare Rarity finally saw the pony. Her coat was lavender, she was an alicorn, clearly a princess. Her mane was a dark blue with a purple strip and a pink strip. "Rarity, it's me, Twilight. You can come out.. Where did you learn this smoke spell anyway?" asked Twilight. "Oh! Let me guess... Are you reading Starswirl The Bearded's spells? I knew some pony would finally-" Twilight was interrupted by a cackle.
"Silly pony, you do know Rarity isn't here, correct?" said Nightmare Rarity in an almost-laughing voice.
"Who are you? What did you do with the real Rarity? And what is this smoke?" asked Twilight in an angry voice.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you who I am, I can't tell you what I've done with your friend, and this smoke? Ha! Why are you an alicorn if you can't preform this simple spell! But I suppose Starswirl couldn't preform this spell either. I guess I have an advantage." cackled Nightmare Rarity.
Twilight looked furious and said, "I will come back, and I will have others, you just wait!" And she ran out the door.
Twilight flew to all of her friend's houses, and they came with her to the Everfree Forest to get the Elements of Harmony.
"Um... Twi? If your saying that Rarity is gone... Won't the Elements of Harmony be useless?" asked Rainbow Dash.
Twilight stopped along with every pony else. She sighed and turned around, facing her friends. "That's right... Well.. We should send a letter to Princess Celestia now.." said Twilight in a worried voice.
"Why in the hey didn't you do that in the first place?" said Applejack.
"Is any pony else hungry right now? I could use a cupcake or two at the moment." said Pinkie
"Not now Pinkie." said Twilight. "We're going to my library so we can find some books to use to find out what has Rarity and what it is doing at the moment. Look up." said Twilight and every pony looked up to see a royal blue sky with no stars or moon.
"Angel Bunny, go and watch over the animals while I'm gone ok? But.. Only if it's ok with you.." said Fluttershy. Angel nodded, and ran off to Fluttershy's cottage.
The Mane 5 were off to Twilight's library while Nightmare Rarity was still causing mischief around Ponyville, making the mysterious blue smoke and causing panic in the night. When the Mane 5 got to the library, Twilight told her friends to look for anything to do with magic, darkness, or blue smoke. After minutes of looking, Fluttershy spoke quietly saying, "Um, is this book any help?"
Twilight looked at the book Fluttershy was holding and looked through it, dust flew everywhere as she flipped through the pages. The title was, Nightmarelings, A Book About Dark Magic. Soon she found a picture of Nightmare Moon. The caption was, Long ago, there were things called Nightmarelings that possessed innocent vessels. Pony's today still don't know what they are, or where they live. If you find some pony that is acting strange or has a Dark aura with them, tell Princess Celestia immediately.
"I told ya should 'ave told Princess Celestia!" exclaimed Applejack.
Without a word, Twilight went to one of her desks and pulled out parchment, ink, and a quill. She started writing a letter."Spike. Spike! SPIKE!" yelled Twilight.
"What. What. What!" said Spike angrily.
Twilight rolled up the parchment and said, "Send this to Princess Celestia please."
"Yes ma'am!" exclaimed Spike, and sent it. Almost immediately, Spike barfed a scroll. Twilight picked it up with her magic and read it.

I know what you are talking about, the Nightmarelings part. Nightmarelings are the things that took over Luna so she became Nightmare Moon. Since this is Rarity, we can't use the Elements of Harmony. I expect you to find out a way to get the Nightmarelings out of her. I hope you write back soon.
