The Last Snowflake

Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, our princess of the sun maintained balance and harmony in her kingdom, creating peace for all her subjects.

  But one beautiful summer day, snow and ice covered the land, the day going from warm and sunny, to cold and frozen.  Princess Celestia soon found the source, a pegasus mare named IceDove had been born with the powers beyond the princess herself!  The princess tried to reason with her, but the young mare's heart had been completely frozen, transforming her into: FrozenHeart.  FrozenHeart attempted to defeat our ruler, but failed.  The princess had no choice but to use, The Elements of Harmony!  She used the elements to defeat the pegasus, banishing her to the stars, in the constellation we now known as Pegasus.

  From then on, Princess Celestia used every bit of her magic to keep the pegasus away, making sure to never let the same mistake happen again-

"-and now ensures that her land is forever protected", Twilight finished reading, smiling down at the myth.  How come she had never heard of FrozenHeart before?  She could ask the princess, but she was in Manehatten.  She could ask Luna, but she had been banished in the moon at the time this happened.  Cadence hadn't been an alicorn yet.

  Twilight groaned with frustration.  "Princess Perfect Junior, could you PLEASE quiet down", a voice came.  Twilight stayed silent.  "Discord?” she asked looking around.  "Yes, your majesty?” came the reply of a certain chimera.  She looked up and saw Discord reading a book above her.  Suddenly, a light bulb appeared over her head.  "Discord, do you know anything about FrozenHeart, the pegasus who covered the land in winter?” she asked.  Discord gave a small nod.  "Yes...” he said, sounding unsure if he wanted to speak of the pegasus.  Twilight raised an eyebrow.  "If you don't its okay, there's no need to lie", she said. Discord let out a sigh.  "I do know about her, I just don't wish to speak of her!” he yelled, burying his muzzle in his book.  Twilight was taken aback by his tone and decided to not question him any further.

  She let out a sigh.  "I'm sorry", he said, "I just don't have a very good relationship with that enchantress.” he said, looking at her with sad eyes.  Twilight nodded with understanding and began to trot towards the train station, eager to return to Ponyville.  As she walked out of the Everfree, she spotted Derpy flying her way.  “Oh, hello Ditsy!” Twilight yelled as she flew by.  Derpy waved back and flew into the forest.  Twilight smiled, happy the mail mare was also happy, for Derpy had been experiencing ‘bullying’.  Twilight sighed and began to in small town.

As she opened the door, she saw all her friends…reading?  She raised an eyebrow when she saw even Spike reading.  “Hi, girls…” she said, biting her lower lip.  “Ooh, hay Twilight!” Pinkie Pie squealed, hugging the alicorn tightly.  The rest of the friends began to take notice in Twilight and trotted over to her, greeting her and hugging her, the mane six being, well, the mane six.  Rainbow had just begun to notice time and yelped loudly.  “AH!  I’m late!” she yelled, and zipped out the door.  The rest of the friends began to read once again, seeming to enjoy their books.  But a few hours later, the weather changed, Pinkie was first to notice.  “Oh, look girls!  It’s snowing!  Winter wrap up, winter wrap up!” she sang, hopping and dancing around the room.  “Pinkie, darling, it can’t be!  It’s the middle of summer!” Rarity said to the pony, who didn’t seem to notice the annoyance in her voice.  “Uh, Rarity, hate to burst yer bubble, but Pinkie’s right, there’s snowflakes falling from them clouds up there.” The cowgirl said to Rarity, pointing her hoof at the window, where it was snowing up a storm.  Twilight gasped.   How was it snowing?  They weren’t supposed to schedule a snow storm for months!  Her pupils shrank.  What if…No, it’s impossible, FrozenHeart had been banished, imprisoned thousands of years ago, and how could she be here?  There was a loud burping noise, green fire finding its way to the tip of Rarity’s horn, burning just the tip.  Rarity cried out.  “My horn!  My horn!” she yelled, sending a glare towards the baby dragon.  Twilight levitated the message with her horn and began to read it to herself.  After reading it a few times, she looked up at her friends.  “Girls, the princesses need us right away!” she yelled.  They nodded, but jumped back when they heard banging on the door.  Twilight slowly walked to the door, taking a baseball bat with her.  The opened the door, revealing a snow-covered pony.  The friends screamed in terror, afraid it was the one who had started it all.  “Hey, what’s the deal?” asked a raspy voice.  The friends sighed with relief, realizing it was just Rainbow Dash.

After cleaning Rainbow up, they had gotten a message from the princess.  Now they were trudging in the snow, on their way to Canterlot.  Though, out of all the friends, Fluttershy seemed to be more nervous and afraid than the other.  ‘What if she knows something?’ Twilight thought to herself.  She shook her head at the thought.  ‘No, it’s probably just Fluttershy being Fluttershy.’ she thought.  But, as the trotted, Fluttershy seemed to slow down, and walk more at ease, as if the storm wasn’t affecting her at all.  And was they traveled, Twilight could have sworn she could hear the Windigoes.  What if FrozenHeart was behind this?

                                                              What if they couldn’t stop her?
