Running where; she did not know. But she knew she had to keep moving. She knew they had to keep moving. The look of utter terror on his face kept her moving. If they could just make it out and find some cover then everything would be ok. The darkness was spreading faster and faster. As the evil flooded through the woods, it summoned twisted vines and gnarled thorn overgrowth faster and faster all around them, making it nearly impossible to get through. But they had to get through. It was their only option. Her breaths started coming in shorter and shorter as she jumped and bounded over and under the things in her path, tiring her out quickly. He was already so far ahead and she could hear them behind her. She knew she had to keep moving but she wouldn’t be able to keep it up for long. Suddenly she felt something latch onto her back hoof, tripping and slamming her to the ground. Struggling to get back up, she tried to yank free, but it wouldn’t let go, slowly consuming her. "I can’t go on any further. Just go." She yelled ahead as she fought to free herself from the vines constricting around her. Tears of fury and fear blurred her vision, she felt so weak, he’d be better off without her. She looked down at the vines, slowly growing around her body. Who’d need someone like her? Someone who couldn’t even beat a plant? She wept, as she waited for her end. She didn’t even see him come next to her. Struggling with the vast amount of vines that had grappled around her, he pulled her free and started moving again, practically dragging her with him. "Don’t ever talk like that again Gingersnap! Now let’s go! They're getting closer!" He spat sharply to her.  And they were. She could hear them behind her. All of them crashing and storming through the woods just as fast as they were moving. "Candlelight. I'm scared!" She screamed, hot tears blurring her vision again. She knew she shouldn't have said that. They prey on the fear of the weak. They crave the terror in the eyes of the innocent. They lust for fear. Yet, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop the feeling of utter terror tearing at her, telling her she’ll never make it. But glancing up, she was filled with newfound power, Candlelight, he was there for her, and together they would make it out of this. "Just keep moving Gingersnap. We're almost there." She couldn't go on anymore. She could feel her entire body starting to give out, every part of her body cried out in agony with every move she made.  But she saw it, the dim light of a glorious clearing beamed ahead of them. The end of the forest! The strength from before, had returned. They were going to make it. A surge of hope pulsed through her every muscle giving her a new sense of determination. Speeding up she ran until breaking through the clearing and he was close behind her. "We made it! We-" The rest of her sentence toppled back down into her throat as she focused on what lie a yards away. They had made it through the forest, but they were far from making it. It was her worst nightmare come to life. For what lied ahead was... "A cliff! Gingersnap, It’s a cliff!" He exclaimed! She tried to swallow her fears but they balled in her mouth, making it hard for her to breath. "How is that a good thing?" She asked nervously. The vines and brier patches were beginning to touch the edge of the forest. The evil was coming. Her heart broke into a full on sprint. "From the looks of it, they were all earth ponies. If we can get a running start-" A hideous wail thundered through the air, tearing her eardrum to pieces. This was followed by the shaking of the ground around her. "We have to go now!" He yelled. The sound doubled, tripled, multiplied until every particle of air around her vibrated with the satanic choir of wails, rising and sinking in sinister harmony. It was too loud. The very sound itself shook her to her core. The wails rushed at her in waves, knocking her off balance. She couldn’t focus. "Lets go Gingersnap!" He yelled before breaking out into a dash towards the edge of the cliff, his dark blue wings lifting him high above the cliffs edge. She didnt follow. In a state of shock she could only watch the edge of the forest as they broke through. they were hideous. The little bit of flesh was a charred black that sagged on their misshapened like an old cloth, balling up in come spots and slipping in others. The oozing red muscles underneath twitched and pumped. Their bodies contorted into grotesque unnatural angles like a child molding clay.  Everything about them was off setting. The bones under the muscle jutted out in every direction making them look lumpy. Their heads slumped sideways, off center to the rest of their bodies. Heir jaws hang slack and dislocated. Where their eyes were supposed to be was vacant and dark. All of them. Coming towards her. The evil was beginning to settle. A darkness you could feel. It suffocated her. "Gingersnap!" He yelled. She was shaking erratically now and could not speak. They advanced towards her without breaking stride, backing her up against the edge of the cliff. Loose gravel and dirt fell off the sideds with no sound of stopping "Gingersnap!" he hollered nervously. "I-I cant." She croaked. "What do you mean you cant? Get up here now!" He yelled. They were only a few feet away from her. They could sense her terror. Thy craved it. The smell of rotting flesh emminated off of them poisoning her nostrils. Blood began seeping from their empty eyesockets as the wailing got increasingly louder. She took another step back. "I cant-" the ground she was standing on gave way underneith her. He staired, horrified as he watched her plummit to oblivion. "GINGERSNAP!"
