Chapters Just a spell gone wrong...
Twilight was in the library reading a book when she herd a crash from upstairs. She quickly put down the book and ran upstairs. When she looked around she saw that Rainbow had crashed into her deck (again).
"Rainbow, what are you doing?" Twilight asked slightly annoyed.
"Sorry Twi, I was working on some new moves and I guess I need more practice." Rainbow said getting off the ground. "Anyway, I better get back. Have fun doing...whatever eggheads do for fun." Rainbow said.
"I was reading. And just because I like to read and study doesn't mean I don't know how to have fun." Twilight said.
"Calm down there Twilight. Don't take it personally." Rainbow said. "Besides, the world needs eggheads." Rainbow spread her wings and flew off. Twilight sighed. Sometimes she wished that she had a friend who didn't think of her nerdy. She walked downstairs and saw Spike coming in.
"Hay Spike, where were you? You've been gone for almost two hours." Twilight said. "Did you get lost? Was somepony bothering you? Were you-"
"Calm down Twilight." Spike said cutting Twilight off before she continued. "I was just helping Rarity deliver something to a client."
Twilight seemed to calm down a little. "Sorry Spike, I was just worried. You could have been hurt or worse. I just don't think I could live with myself if something happened to you." Twilight said nuzzling Spike.
"Jeez Twilight, if I didn't know you I'd think you were my mom." Spike said.
"That's crazy Spike. Your like a brother to me. Besides I'm not ready to be a mom. I wouldn't know the first thing to do." Twilight said. She picked up the book she was reading and was about to start reading when a pink pony came bursting through the door making Twilight jump.
"Pinkie, could you maybe knock next time you do that." Twilight said still recovering from the shock.
"Sorry Twilight, I'm just exited." Pinkie Poe said. "A new pony is coming to town and I'm planing a party. I just wanted to know if you'd come."
"Alright, I guess I could go. I could use a break anyway." Twilight said.
"Great!" Pinkie said grabbing Twilight's arm and pulling her out of her house. She started leading them to SugerCube corner and when they got in Twilight saw everything ready. Everypony in town was there.
"How is he going to know to come here?" Twilight asked confused.
"Don't worry about it, Rainbow Dash is going to wait at the train station and bring him here." Pinkie said pulling out a cupcake out of nowhere and gave it to Twilight.
"How did you know that he was coming to ponyville? Is he a friend of yours or a family member? Or a friend of a family members?" Twilight asked.
"Actually I don't know him. I only knew he was coming because of my Pinkie sense. And it's also telling me that you and him are going to be good friends." Pinkie said before she skipped away. Twilight was confused but decided to just not question Pinkie Pie. It was Pinkie after all.
Everyone was waiting for Rainbow Dash to come in with the new pony. Pinkie looked like she wanted to scream. You could obviously tell she was the most exited one out of everyone. She was always exited to meet new friends. Twilight wanted to leave now getting bored of all the waiting. She was about to but then Rainbow came in with another pony. He was a little taller then Twilight. And like her was a unicorn. His coat was black and his mane was blue. He also had a cutiemark of a test tube. His talent was obviously good at potions.
Pinkie quickly yelled 'surprise!' When he came in. He obviously looked surprised that anyone would through him a surprise party but he also looked kind of happy. "I'm Pinkie Pie. I'm the one who through you this surprise party. I figured if I through this party that you would make some friends with the ponies who live here." Pinkie said.
"Alright Pinkie, let him breath." Twilight said getting in between. "Hi, what's your name?" Twilight asked the pony.
"I'm MoonDusk." The pony said. It took him a moment before he realized who he was talking to. "Your Princess Twilight Sparkle." He said bowing.
'Why does everypony have to do this?' Twilight thought to herself. "It's alright. You don't have to bow." MoonDusk did as told and got up.
"I'm sorry princess. It's just not everyday you meet....well, you." Moon said.
"Just treat me like any other pony. And call me Twilight, you don't have to be so formal." Twilight said. Moon nodded and walked off to continue the rest of his party. Twilight walked over to a table with her friends sitting around it. When she sat down everyone looked at her making her feel awkward.
"Why are you guys looking at me like that? " Twilight finally asked.
Rarity was the first to talk. "So how was talking to your new friend going?" Rarity asked.
"Fine." Twilight said.
"Is he fun?" Rainbow asked.
"Yea."
Applejack spoke next. "Would you consider him cute?"
"Yea, I guess he really is kind of cut- wait, why are you asked me all this?" Twilight asked. Her friends just stayed quite. "Do you think I like him?" Twilight asked. "I just met him today."
"Well you did look at him a long time when he came in. And you did walk up to him to talk. Then you told him to just call you Twilight." Applejack said.
"That means nothing. He's new in town, so of course he got my attention. I walked up to him to meet him. And me telling him to call me Twilight means nothing." Twilight said a little defensive. She walked away to get a drink to cool herself down leaving her friends at the table.
"She is so denying having feelings for him." Rainbow said. Everyone agreed with a 'mmm-hhmm'.
Twilight walked over to the punch bowl and started pouring some punch in her cup. She felt someone tap on her shoulder and when she turned around she saw MoonDusk. "Hi MoonDusk." Twilight said. "How are you enjoying your party?"
"It's good. I have to thank the one who through it." Moon said.
"Well, do you want me to take you to her?" Twilight asked.
"Sure." Moon said following Twilight to a table where her friends were.
"Moon, this is Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie. Pinkie is the one that through you this great party." Twilight said.
"Well nice to officially meet you Pinkie. And thank you for this party. It's really great." Moon said.
"No problem, this party was suppose to help you make friends and it worked now you have lots of friends." Pinkie said.
"Well, it's really been good but I really need to go. I got transferred here by my boss and I start work early." Moon said.
"And I better get going too. I don't think I should have left Spike alone for this long." Twilight said. Twilight walked out and Moon started following her. "Are you going this way too?" Twilight asked.
"No but I thought I could walk you home." Moon said walking next to Twilight. "Besides, a princess shouldn't be walking by herself." Moon said.
"So you decided to be my guard?" Twilight asked.
"Does that mean I get medal?" MoonDusk asked.
"I don't think there's a medal for that."Twilight said. "But you earn a metal in my book."
"I guess that counts. I cant wait to tell the guys at work about my fake metal." MoonDusk said in a playful tone.
"What do you work as?" Twilight asked.
"Well, my job is to make sure there's enough crop and food for everyone. I have to make special potions that will help the plant grow faster but healthy or duplicate the plants sometimes." MoonDusk said.
"A duplication potion? I've never tried that potion before." Twilight said. She stopped walking when she saw that they reached her house. "Do you mind showing me it?" Twilight asked.
"Of course not. I cant say no to you. Your a princess and a friend." MoonDusk said.
"Alright then, come in." Twilight said letting moon enter. "I'll go get my test tubes." Twilight said before walking in another room. Moon looked around and he saw a little baby dragon in the corner sleeping. 'How didn't he notice that?' He walked over to it and saw he was waking up.
"Hello?" Moon asked. Spike herd him and quickly jumped up.
"Who are you? The library's closed." Spike said getting up.
MoonDusk was about to talk but Twilight came in. "He's just a friend Spike. Don't worry about it." Twilight said.
"If you say so. I think I'm going to go for a walk." Spike said.
"Be carful. Don't go into the evergreen forest. And don't talk to ponies you don't know." Twilight said.
"I know, I know, I know, calm down Twilight. It's just a walk. I'm sure I'll be fine." Spike said walking out the door.
"Wow, you act just like his mom. For a second there I thought you really were." MoonDust said. "Anyway, should we get started?" Moon asked walking over to Twilight.
"Sure." Twilight said.
MoonDusk started showing Twilight how to mix the potion and how much to put. They were almost done and MoonDust was about to add the last thing. "Alright this is the most important part. You have to be really steady and quite. " MoonDusk said. He was about to put the last drop in. Suddenly someone call in the door.
"I'm back." Spike said. He startled MoonDusk making him through the potion. Luckily Twilight got it but then tripped on a test tube. She fell on top of MoonDusk. She looked up and the last thing she saw the potion flying towards her. Then everything went dark.

Just a spell gone wrong...
MoonDusk was the first to wake up. His ears were ringing and he couldn't really hear for a few seconds. His vision was a little blurry. He got up and his vision cleared a little. He looked at Twilight who was next to him.
"Twilight? Twilight." Moon said shacking Twilight awake. She got up and looked at him.
"What happened?" Twilight asked.
"I think we got hit with the potion." MoonDust said.
"Do you think anything happened?" Twilight asked. All of a sudden they herd crying. "What was that?" Twilight asked looking around. She got up trying to find the source of the crying.
"Twilight, over here." Spike said. Twilight walked over where Spike was with MoonDust behind her. She saw a cloth moving around and wiggling. When she levitated the clothe out of the way and saw a little foal crying. The little foal had a black coat, a purple main with some blue stripes and big purple eyes. She was also an Alicorn just like Twilight. Spike picked up the foal that was crying.
"Where did she come from?" Spike asked.
Twilight and MoonDusk looked at each other and they both had nervous faces. "You don't think..." Twilight trailed off and looked back at the foal who was still crying.
"I think the potion did do something." MoonDusk said.
"Um, can somepony help me?" Spike said still holding the foal that was wiggling around around crying. Twilight levitated the foal to her and started cradling her. She began to stop crying when she looked at Twilight. Twilight couldn't help but smile. She looked so cute.
"I guess she just wanted her mom." Spike said. Twilight stiffened a little at the word mom. She couldn't be a mom. She wasn't ready. MoonDusk noticed Twilight was a little scared and levitated the foal to him.
"Are you alright Twilight?" MoonDusk Said.
"I'm just really surprised." Twilight said.
"Maybe I should not go to work tomorrow. I'll take care of her." MoonDusk said.
"I can't ask you to do that. I can watch her while we figure out how to fix this." Twilight said. She looked at the little foal and saw her fast asleep in her 'daddy's ' arms. "But maybe we should pick up some foal stuff." Twilight said.
"I'll go." Moon said handing Twilight the foal. "I think...wait. What's her name?" Moon said.
"Hmm...What about, Moonlight?" Twilight said.
"How about, Moonlight Sparkle?" Moon said. Twilight smiled at the name and looked down at her.
"I like that. Moonlight Sparkle. It's a really good name.
"Yea. Well, I better get going before all the stores close. I'll be back soon." Moon said before walking out the door. Twilight felt moonlight steering around.
"Let's go put you in bed." Twilight said walking up in her room. She laid moonlight down tucking her in before she walked back downstairs. "Spike? Where are you?" Twilight said.
Spike came out of the kitchen holding tea. "I thought you could use some tea." Spike said handing Twilight a cup.
"What am I going to do Spike? This is probably the biggest problem I've gotten myself into." Twilight said.
"I'm sure that's not true." Spike said.
"Well, did any of the other things I've gotten myself into include me being a mommy?" Twilight said. "I don't know what i'm going to do." Twilight took a sip of her tea.
"You'll figure it out. You can be a great mom." Spike said.
"I don't know Spike." Twilight said. She herd a thud and then some crying. Twilight quickly ran upstairs and saw moonlight on the ground crying. She quickly picked her up and checked her for bruises or scratches. When she saw she was fine she started cradling her.
"Don't scare me like that moonlight. You had me worried." She looked at her bed and then at Moonlight. "We have to get you a crib."
Moonlight's crying turned into a sniffing. "Do you want to come with me down stars?" Twilight asked her.
"Mommy, mommy" Moonlight said hugging Twilight tighter. Twilight felt something in her stomach when she called her mommy but she shook it off. She put her on her back and walked down stairs. Twilight picked up a book and laid down on the couch to read with Moonlight next to her chewing on a pillow.
Half an hour passed and MoonDusk came in with foal stuff. Twilight took the pillow away from Moonlight and gave her a chewing toy. "How did it go?" MoonDusk asked.
"It was fine. She was asleep for most of the time. She's a calm filly or she's just tired right now. " Twilight said.
"mommy." Moonlight said climbing on top of Twilight playing with her mane.
"Mommy? When did she start calling you that?" Moon asked.
"After she woke up." Twilight said trying to get Moonlight off her head. Moonlight just giggled at all her tries. MoonDusk levitated her a toy and put her on the ground.
"Maybe I should take care of her. You are a princess after all. I would hate for you to cancel important meetings and all that stuff." MoonDusk said.
"Calm down. I can watch her. You have to work. I'm sure I can take a week off." Twilight said.
"Are you sure?" Moon asked.
"How hard can it be?" Twilight said. "I'll take care of her while we figure out what to do." She looked down at Moonlight. "Right Moonlight."
"Blhaa dagaa" Moonlight gurgled giggling. Twilight and MoonDusk couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Twilight, have you told your friends yet?" Moon asked.
Twilight's face turned serious. "No, not yet. I think I'm going to tell them tomorrow. Right now I'm just way too tired to explain to them what happened." Twilight said.
"Alright, are you going to keep Moonlight tonight?" MoonDusk asked.
"Yea, you get your rest. I'll handle this." Twilight said.
"Alright." Moon said. "Well, I better go." MoonDusk walked over to Moonlight and nuzzled her before he left. When he did Moonlight looked at Twilight.
"Daddy?" Moonlight said. Twilight levitated Moonlight in front of her.
"Don't worry you'll see him tomorrow." Twilight said. "Let's give you a bath." Twilight said. levitating Moonlight on her back. When she got her in the tub she started washing her mane while she played with the bubbles in the tub. Twilight was rinsing her off when Moonlight splashed some water at her.
Moonlight started laughing. Twilight smiled and splashed some water at Moonlight. Soon it turned into a water fight. They were playing around for a while now. Twilight was laughing with Moonlight until Spike came in. "Um Twilight, don't you think it's time for Moonlight to go to sleep?" Spike said.
"Oh yea, right." Twilight said drying Moonlight off and herself. She took her to her bed and started rocking Moonlight until she fell asleep. Twilight laid down next to her daughter and wrapped a wing around her protectively. She looked down at her sleeping. 'Maybe this won't be so bad' Twilight thought to herself before drifting off to sleep.
Author's Note
Twilight is starting to warm up to Moonlight, yay! But what will her friend think? Will Spike eventually get jealous? Will the news get out? We'll find out later!
Just a spell gone wrong...
Twilight woke up looking under her wing but didn't see Moonlight. See quickly looked around the room and started to panic when she didn't see her. She rushed out of her room and down stairs. She saw Spike in the kitchen cooking breakfast.
"Spike have you seen Moonlight?" Twilight asked.
"She woke up and I decided to bring her down." Spike said. "She's probably in the living room."
Twilight walked out of the kitchen and started looking around the living room and noticed the door was open. "Spike." Twilight called.
"What's wrong Twilight?" Spike asked.
"Please tell me you didn't leave the door open." Twilight said.
"I thought the room could use some fresh air." Spike said.
"Spike! What were you thinking?! She's a little foal, how could you leave her alone and with the door open." Twilight said. Spike was taken aback a little by Twilight's outburst. He decided to not say anything so that she wouldn't get anymore mad. "I'm going to go find her." Twilight said walking out of the room.
Moonlight was crawling around town. She hadn't been outside and she was really curious. She reached sugercube corner and saw two other foals playing outside with a pink pony. Moonlight decided to go investigate and crawled up to them.
Pinkie Pie was playing peek-a-boo with Pound and Pumpkin when she saw Moonlight.
"Hello there, are you lost?" Pinkie Pie said picking up Moonlight. Moonlight just looked at her confused. "I haven't seen you around. But don't worry, i'll help you find your mom." Pinkie said.
"Mommy?" Moonlight repeated.
"Yes, mommy. But if we want to find her we better start looking." Pinkie put the cake twins inside and put Moonlight on her back. She started walking to a cloud Rainbow was sleeping on.
"Rainbow!" Pinkie yelled. It startled Rainbow making her fall.
"Jeez Pinkie, you don't have to yell." Rainbow said getting up from the ground. She looked at the foal on Pinkie's back. "Who's the kid?" Rainbow asked.
"I don't know." Pinkie said.
"Please don't tell me you took her out of a random stroller." Rainbow said.
"Of course not. I found her crawling around town alone. I was wondering if you could fly and look for a mom or dad that looks like there're missing a foal." Pinkie said.
"How do I know when their missing a kid." Rainbow asked.
"They'll be calling a name and looking worried." Pinkie said.
"Alright." Rainbow said flying off. Pinkie decided to ask the rest of her friends if they knew who the filly belonged too. She decided to stop at Rarity's boutique first since it was the closest. When she knocked Rarity came out wearing a face mask scaring Pinkie Pie and Moonlight.
"Um...Rarity, you have a little something on your face." Pinkie Pie said.
Rarity rolled her eyes at the comment. "It's a mask Pinkie. What can I do you for?" Rarity asked.
"Well, I found this foal by herself and I just came to ask if you know who the mom is." Pinkie said pointing at Moonlight.
"She is so precious." Rarity said taking Moonlight spinning her. "Well, no. But I can help you look." Rarity said.
"Thanks. I think we should start looking around where I found her." Pinkie said. Rarity nodded and went back inside to take of her mask. When she came back out they headed for town. They asked everyone trying to find the mom but had no luck. They were about to look somewhere else when they bumped into Rainbow Dash who had Fluttershy and Applejack behind her.
"They wanted to help." Rainbow said.
"Well that's nice. Maybe we should ask Twilight to help us look too." Rarity said.
"Sure, she right there." Pinkie said pointing at a very worried Twilight.
"What has her all worked up?" Applejack asked. Everyone just shrugged. "Hay Twilight!" Applejack yelled getting Twilight's attention. Twilight looked and saw her friends with Moonlight and she gave a sigh of relief. She quickly ran over to them picking up Moonlight and putting her down in front of her.
"Moonlight Sparkle, don't ever go running off like that again. You had me worried." Twilight scold. She looked at her friends who had confused faces. She tried to speak and tell them about Moonlight but the words got stuck in her throat.
Moonlight looked at her mom and started tugging her hoof. "Mommy." Moonlight said putting her hoofs up signalling that she wanted to be picked up. Twilight picked her up and nuzzled her.
"Mommy? Why did she call you mommy?" Pinkie asked.
Twilight sighed and put Moonlight on her back. "Because...she's mine." Twilight said. Her friends let out a gasp of surprise.
"We didn't know you adopted." Fluttershy said.
"That's because I didn't adopt." Twilight said.
"Oh. um...that's some news. If you don't mind me asking, who's the father?" Rarity asked.
"It's MoonDusk." Twilight said.
"Wow Twi, I knew you're fast sometimes but not this fast." Rainbow said.
Twilight's cheeks turned really red hearing that. "No, it's not what you think. He was showing me a duplicating potion but things went wrong. He accidentally dropped it and it fell on us. Next thing we know we see Moonlight." Twilight said looking at Moonlight who was playing with her mane.
"Moonlight?" Rarity asked.
"Moonlight Sparkle. That's what we decided to name her." Twilight said.
"She's probably the cutest thing I have ever seen." Rarity said. "But have you thought of what to do with her?"
"No, i haven't. I don't know what to do. Now that i'm a princess I don't have a lot of free time. I sometimes barley have time for myself. Foals need a lot of attention and energy and I might not be able to handle it." Twilight said. "What should I do?"
Applejack put a hoof on her shoulder. "Calm down sugercube. We're here to help you. First, have you and MoonDusk talked about this?" Applejack asked.
"No, we were going to talk about it when he got back from work." Twilight said.
"Well that's the first thing. But if after you talk you figure out that neither of you can take care of her, maybe you could consider giving her up for adoption." Applejack said.
Twilight hadn't thought about adoption. It did seem like the best option. Well, it seemed like the only option. "Alright. I'll think about it. It does seem like the best thing to do in case neither of us can take care of her." Twilight said. "Well, I better get going. Moonlight hasn't eaten breakfast and she could get fussy any minute now."
"If you need any help feel free to ask us." Fluttershy said. Twilight nodded and started walking to her library. She went in and saw Spike reading a magazine on the floor.
"Hay Spike." Twilight said. Spike looked up from his magazine and looked at Twilight.
"Hay Twilight. I'm glad you found Moonlight. Where did you find her?" Spike asked.
"She was with my friends, so I decided to tell them everything. Oh and Spike, next time don't leave the door open. I don't think I want to run around town trying to find Moonlight again." Twilight said.
"Don't worry. I wont make that mistake again. You were really scary when you were in mom mode." Spike said.
"I was not in mom mode. I was just scared." Twilight said defensively.
"And you were scared because you are a mom and she is your foal. It's your maternal instincts that makes you go crazy when you don't see her." Spike said.
"It is not Spike. Besides I don't think i'm going to be her mom much longer anyway." Twilight said.
"What do you mean Twilight?" Spike said.
"I don't have time to raise a foal Spike. I'm already taking this week off. I'm going to have a lot of work to catch up on. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to do it properly." Twilight said.
"So what are you going to do?" Spike asked.
"If MoonDusk can't take care of her either then, maybe we should consider giving her up for adoption." Twilight said.
"You can't be serious." Spike said.
"I'm very serious Spike. If neither of us can handle the job then, we're going to put her for adoption. They could find her another home. One where they can take care of her right and give her everything she needs" Twilight said.
"Or she might not get adopted and stay in the system. And what if she wants to meet her parents. What are you going to tell her? " Spike said. "Think about it Twilight. Do you really want to give her up for adoption?" Spike asked before he left the room leaving Twilight alone with Moonlight. She turned around and looked at Moonlight who was trying to get off her back. Twilight levitated her in front of her.
"It's for the best." Twilight said before she went to the kitchen to get her, her bottle.
