Love and Experimental Apple Cider no 2
Love and Experimental Apple Cider no 2
Author's Note
While writing a new story, I found an old one from few years back. The original plan was to make it longer but I figured after some changes I might as well post it now as one-shot instead of letting it rot away. Enjoy and please don't kill me for it, this was written in 2015!
Love and Experimental Apple Cider no 2
Love and Experimental Apple Cider no 2
***Prologue***
Moving under the warm bed sheets, two sweaty bodies danced together entangled in tight embrace. The claws and hooves traveling ambiguously, exploring, fur brushing against scales, his rough thin tongue wrestling against hers in a wet kiss full of passion and longing. Their common rhythm achieved, heartbeats matching with each other and breaths mixed together, the dragon and alicorn continued this tango in the moonlight, reality not mattering to them.
The sweet taste of apple cider lingering in their mouths as they tasted each other lost in soft petals of each other's lips, the faint smell of alcohol filling the castle's small bedroom with every exhaled breath. First slowly, then faster, the peak of unknown pleasure nearly achieved and both of their minds becoming numb to outside world. The feeling of completion never known before, in the reach of their limbs and wings as the whole world exploded around them like a star going supernova.
Then, just as everything started, an end slowly came, the crescendo fading down like a distant memory. The exhaustion catching up as their tired bodies collapse together on the soft mattress. In tight embrace they lay, both holding onto each other with this faint feeling of accomplishment, never wanting to let go of one another ever again, as the remains of their consciousness leaves them slowly, dreams sneaking their way in.
***Present time***
Purple eyelids slowly lifted up, revealing a pair of shiny, emerald eyes. The handsome dragon known as Spike could feel his whole body aching, even the tips of his wings. The chirping of songbirds outside gave him a painful headache, the result of last night party.
They have been celebrating the first student's graduation from school of friendship and on that special occasion, Applejack decided that testing new recipe for Cider was in order. According to the earth pony it was supposed to only have a little kick to it but seeing as he barely even remembered anything from last night he assumed that the recipe was stronger than even Applpejack could predict.
In those last years so much had happened, so many adventures, even more obstacles, but they had overcome it all, winning a good measure of peace. Even Spike, who in the first years could be only considered a sidekick at best, have grown up significantly since that time, hitting one more molt about two years ago.
This time, instead of wings, his body was bigger now, going slightly above his friends height, more lean and dragon-like. No horns grew much to his dismay, but he didn't care about them. At first Spike freaked out, worrying about growing so big just like that, but quickly learned that he won’t ever outgrow Ponyville — a courtesy of Twilight’s alicorn magic.
Groaning in pain, he could feel his throat being as dry as San Palomino Desert if not more. As he attempted to move however, he finally grew aware of additional weight resting on top of his chest. Looking down, he first noticed a tip of a very familiar horn, then a familiar mane, finally catching a glimpse of well-known head.
Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship, the Element of Magic, the prodigy, the pupil of princess Celestia acknowledged by Starswirl the bearded, the savior of Equestria on numerous occasions and most of all his lifelong friend, slept soundly, a content smile adorning her lips. Seeing her, the dragon blinked once, then twice, cold sweat running down his spine as he asked himself –What the actual...W-WHY is she i-in my bed…?!
No sooner those words materialized in his head, a memory from yesterday’s night resurfaced.
***Flashback***
If Pinkie was good at something it was definitely throwing a graduation after party for teachers. This time however, she far exceeded herself once again. The whole event was taking place in Sugarcube Corner, courtesy of Ms. and Mr. Cake. Countless balloons in same color as the night sky adorned every little corner of the room, but those weren’t simple balloons as they were glistening from emerald, ruby, topaz and other different colored dusts extracted from various gems. Spike knew exactly what those resembled – the different races that attended the school of friendship. The leaders were so pleased with the results that they promised to send more students soon. An accomplishment they were all proud of.
The smell of various sweets, taste of the drinks, the different colored lights reflected on the surface of big disco-ball, the music…everything was simply enchanting. This party was one of a kind, like taken straight from fairy-tale and everypony who attended it was mesmerized. Spike too had a time of his life until…
“Sho, Shpike? What do ya thinkin’?” Applejack asked him once more, her tongue tripping at words as she poured even more Experimental Apple Cider no. 2 into his mug. Through foggy vision, he saw her smile at him seductively although it might have been just alcohol coursing through his veins. He probably shouldn't drink the next mug, but he was a dragon and he didn't intend to back out.
They were all a little drunk at this point anyway. Well maybe little was an understatement as even Rainbow Dash who could usually hold her cider flew around in zigzag patterns, nearly colliding with the ball on the ceiling.
“Ish good…” He mumbled, feeling slight difficulty when responding. Normally he would stop when feeling his tongue going slightly numb but Applejack, who was going from guest to guest, didn’t take no for an answer tonight and was like on holy crusade which sole purpose was to pour more cider for everypony. Fluttershy tried to decline her once, but the drunk mare took offense at that, threatening that if the yellow pegasi wouldn't comply, she would start family feud with all the Apples. Naturally, after that no one declined a mug of cider.
Twilight especially told each of them on the side that no matter what, they should play along as poor Applejack recently had it rough after she and Silver Shill had an argument and were currently not talking to each other. There was only one problem with this kind of courtesy and that was the strength of this new cider as even half of the mug could make you tipsy.
So it was Twilight who, raising the first mug, made a toast 'for friendship', before taking a huge gulp. Others followed and the result was the current situation.
So here they were, Trenderhoof sleeping in Rarity’s embrace, not that Spike minded as he got over his crush some years ago when the fashionista informed him with great difficulty that she couldn’t think of him more than a friend. She simply didn’t feel that way about him and the dragon, although heartbroken, accepted the fate. It didn’t hurt too much actually but Spike assumed it was because for so many years without much progress, his mind was prepared for the inevitable rejection.
Looking around he also noticed Pinkie dancing with Cheese Sandwich, Maud and Mudbriar together, but the more Spike looked, the more it seemed that they all were simply supporting each other from falling to the floor. It was unusual seeing Pinkie drained like that. Spike guessed even the party pony had her limits somewhere.
Lastly, his gaze fell on Twilight lecturing Fluttershy about ethics of animal love but the pegasus was apparently more intent at listening to what a tree was saying. Was she able to communicate with trees now? Oh well, Since they all seemed to be enjoying themselves, Applejack didn’t disturb either one, her attention focusing solely on Spike and...
“Shpike, my aweshome dwagggon!” Rainbow Dash shouted loudly, trying to hug Spike but apparently missed her mark and only managed to embrace one of Rarity’s mannequins that for some reason was here.
“Sso tell, me big guy! Do ya and Twilighhht ya know…?” She asked sluggishly, as she tenderly caressed the mannequin with her hooves, giving it a lick.
“What? Of couwshe not, w-we awe…fwiendsh.” Spike protested, his tongue tripping along the way even more than before, obvious sign that he REALLY shouldn’t drink anymore. Although he protested, he couldn’t help but steal a glance at Twilight, admiring her beauty. In his eyes she was really beautiful mare, kind, smart and cute egghead but… Spike just didn’t know what to think, they were friends for so long that he never actually considered taking it to ‘next level’. Okay, maybe he sometimes did but was too afraid to act, fearing it might break something between them and thus decided to let things stay the way they were. He was already the 'honorary little brother' so should he really dare for more?
Twilight, who was apparently still in her full lecture mode, dress stained with alcohol that Pinkie accidentally spilled on her, grabbed one more mug of cider with her magic, levitating it to her mouth while spilling contents as it traveled the air. The poor alicorn who proposed being kind to Applejack tonight was the first one to get drunk as she simply couldn’t hold her liquor and this stuff was simply too strong. She was just a princess of friendship, not a princess of beverage!
“Wwwwiiigghhhtttt… but she’s sho sad! Ya know, she…she could ushe shoome of yew shhcaly looove!” Rainbow Dash bellowed loudly, snapping Spike out of his daydream. When he turned to regard the mare, all he saw was her falling onto her back giggling like a cute mare, the most unsightly view, as she NEVER did such thing when sober.
“You’we dwu-unk.” Spike stated simply, staring at his own mug, still full of recently poured cider, wondering if he should leave it somewhere or drink it. He was reaching his limit and was pretty sure that one more and he’ll lose it completely.
“Yew isht dwunk and heaw me out becaushe I tell ya…. I tell ya… I fowgot what I wanted to tell ya… *hic*” Rainbow Dash protested while struggling to get up. Shaking her head from side to side, she apparently decided it was no use to talk with dragon too drunk to reason with and began to trot away but not before saying one more sentence.
“Jusht be thewe for’ew whewe it cou.. cou-cunts! Damn, I ne-ed a dwink *hic* we-membew, shhe neeedsh ya *hic* Appleshjack! Need mowe *hic* cider nao!” With that she went away in search for said mare, leaving a slightly perturbed dragon with series of uneasy feelings swirling up inside him. Deciding it was no time to ponder about such stuff at the party, he lifted the mug to his mouth - For Equestria! - He thought as the sweet cider went down his throat, the alcohol going to his head.
“And then Fluttershhy dishagweed!” Twilight shouted loudly near Spike’s ear, making the dragon cringe from the volume of her royal canterlot voice. Somehow he managed to get them both into the castle but Twilight refused to untangle herself from him, not that Spike minded in his current state.
“Uh-huh… “ He exclaimed, alcohol in him making everything blurry. Did the castle always had so much steps? They seemed to be double in the usual amount. He looked to the side and all he saw was Twilight glued to him, Twilight talking about something, Twilight soft lips moving. At times there were even two Twilights which pleased him even more as it was good to always have a spare one. Going up, with heavy steps, he led them towards his bedroom and sat down on the bed, but then he grew aware of her presence.
“Twiligthth? What youw doing in my… bedwooom?” Spike asked, genuinely wondering what the mare wanted this late at night. Tomorrow they had to get up early because it was re-shelving day…or was it after-shaving day? No...that must have been yesterday. Did anypony even shave in Ponyville?
“Shpike…” Her hoof reached his scaly cheek caressing it gently, eyes growing teary, making him look back at her but the words she spoke were still blurry. The smell of her lavender perfumes reached his nostrils along with the sweet scent of apple cider when she spoke.
“Why I don’t have my shpecial shompony? Am I that ug-gly and new-dy? Even Fluttew-shy has Discowd…” Twilight questioned him, first tears falling from her eyes, making her light mascara run down her cheeks leaving black stains on her fur. Normally, he would tell her that wasn’t the case and explain why but the sensation her hoof gave him, the smell, the tone of her voice and the alcohol coursing through him, made him bolder.
Twilight deserved to be loved more than anypony he knew and Spike really wanted nothing more right now to be the one for her. With his own claw reaching out to her, he whipped away the tears from her eyes, black smudges dirtying his fingers.
“I think… *hic* you’we beautiful Twi…” Spike whispered, making her cheeks change color to that of roses but once again it might have been only his imagination or the alcohol. However, the alicorn, drunk or not, didn’t seem to buy those simple words.
“Pwove it.” She dared, while relishing in his delicate touch and from those words it all started as Spike’s snout came slowly into contact with hers. At first, they only nuzzled lightly against each other but then it became a gentle kiss.
Hungrily, the passion of their actions quickly grew into more daring one as she wrapped her forelegs tightly around his back, bringing herself closer, making him lie down. The softness of the mattress under his back nearly lulled him to sleep but Twilight didn’t let him rest. As She laid on top of him, their eyes staring deeply into each other, a new kiss started, the heat on their lips increasing. Spike’s claws reaching for her, bringing her down onto the bed, their positions reversed, pleasure and passion fueled by experimental apple cider no. 2 becoming the only reality that mattered…
***Present time***
Looking to the side, he noticed the discarded dress Twilight wore at the party, panic overtaking him, making Spike instantly forget about pain from his hangover. Heart beating faster than ever, realization of what they did dawned on Spike accompanied by guilt, fear, love, longing, and so many more mixed emotions. –Did me…and she…!- he tried to think straight but it was no use, his mind seemed to be unable to comprehend what happened or how could it happen in the first place.
Before he was able to think of a way out of this mess, a sudden mumble from Twilight startled him and when he looked down on her, Spike noticed that her eyes were slowly fluttering open.
“Ugh…S-spike…? Ow…my head hurts…and my lower body feels strange…w-why are you in my bed? W-w-what in all of Equestria happened?!”
***A good dose of freaking out later***
"Uuughh..." Groaned Twilight while sitting on a couch in a cot, warm cocoa on nearby table. Spike sat near her, holding his cup in his claws, staring inside as if it held answers to all the problems of the world. No such thing, it only held warm cocoa. He decided to put it on the nearby table.
- Well then, might as well dragon up and take blame. - He thought up as he slowly turned to look at Twilight. The alicorn princess still seemed unable to face the reality of their last night experience, the fireplace illuminating her small form. Taking a deep breath, he whispered softly, to grab her attention.
"Twi..." her name rolled down his tongue naturally like on so many occasions but even though it was almost a whisper, she jumped up, facing him instantly.
"Y-yes Spike?" She asked, her left eye twitching nervously like it always did before she enters her crazy phase. She was twilighting hard.
"I'm sorry for... you know. I should have been more responsible. I made an irreversible mistake and I'll understand if you'll never want to see me ever again." He bowed his head, expecting a torrent of blame to follow, shouts, tears, maybe a hoofslap across the snout. However, he waited and waited, and none of those happened. Curiously, he allowed himself to lift his head and steal a glance at Twilight.
She was sitting there motionsless, looking at him with an expression on her muzzle that was very hard to read. Biting down on her lips and trying to form her sentences, she started slowly.
"Its-I don't blame you Spike. We both crossed the line of safe alcohol usage and if I blamed you I might as well blame myself. I-I'm just worried that I took advantage of you." She lowered her ears, tears slowly spilling from her eyes, before she was able to continue. "I know I am not pretty, I have no idea about dating and that you like mares more like Rarity. I'm none of those things you could want, and I... ruined our relationship with my selfishness."
He reached his claws to gently grab her trembling shoulders and pulled her as close as possible. It seems she was worried more about him than herself. He should never suspect her of being angry with him, it was never how she did things. Stroking her back as she sobbed quietly, he almost cried himself but one thought kept him from doing so. He didn't understand her choice of words right now.
"Selfishness?" He couldn't help but ask. Why would she even think her selfishness was at fault?
Choking on her words, she looked up, guilt in those purple colored eyes mixed with fear. Then her eyes grew stronger for a moment, as if she decided to go all out. "I... considered our relationship... that no pony understands me like you do, how we aren't blood related but so close. I know it's sounds crazy, maybe I'm just growing desperate since all my friends move on with relationships but since last yearI really would want you to be with me... "
Spike couldn't believe what he heard. Even though Twilight mumbled the last part while looking down with tomato colored muzzle, right now he felt as if Celestia shone her sun just for him, above his head for Twilight was thinking the very same thoughts he did. His dark worries dissipating, there was only one thing to do, but would he dare to be so bold without the experimental apple cider no 2? Of course, he would for he was also past beating around the bush. They already crossed the line, alcohol or no, but this time, this time he will make a choice with clear head and on his own terms.
- Goodbye surrogate little brother status. I won't miss you. - With those thoughts, he slowly cupped Twilight's chin in his claw and lifted it slowly up to stare at him. Her adorable puzzled eyes searched his own for answers, mesmerized and melting into his gaze. Slowly, unsure of himself, he drew closer and parted his snout, sharing with Twilight their first cider free kiss, while making a mental note to himself, to thank Applejack.
The kiss was awkward, with none the passion from the last night, but for both of them, it was the best and most memorable one. It was a symbol, a promise and a seal which marked the end of one beautiful relationship and birth of even more precious one.
***THE END***
