My name, was Princess Sunbeam.
I say was, because I used to be. Now, I don't know who I am.
Everyday, I wonder the land of Equestria, alone. I'm lonely and haunted. Haunted by my past.
What is my past story? Well, you will soon find out.
Now, you may not believe this, but about... 3,000 years ago, I ruled Equestria. I lived with my husband, Prince Lightning Blade. I will never forget him. Even in death, my love for him will remain stronger than the world itself. He was a handsome, friendly unicorn stallion.
It all started as a simple walk in my castle grounds. The warm breeze was blowing in my flowing mane. I loved that feeling. The refreshing feeling of the wind in my face. Now, it seems like very little comfort.
I bumped into Lightning Blade. We looked at each other...
It was love at first sight.
Lightning Blade said he had come from far away, to deliver a message for me. He said that the messanger was sick, so he had to take his place. He smiled up at me and passed me the note. He bowed as I opened it. All I could do was smile. I looked at the message...
It had no writing on it.
I asked Lightning Blade what had happened. He looked puzzled and said that he didn't know. In the end, I just shrugged and used my magic to make the letter disppear. I saw Lightning Blade bow in my precence one last time, and begin to walk off. I just ended up tapping his flank. He turned around and looked at me...
I couldn't hold it in. He just seemed so nice!
"Lightning Blade, would you like to... meet me at the lake, tonight?" I asked. He looked speechless. He was just able to say,
"I...I would... love to!"
I smiled and we parted our seperate ways. I had to tend to my royal duties.
That night, I walked to the lake alone.
Lightning Blade was already there, gazing at the lake. Two trouts swam together in it, making the water splash and ripple. I tapped him on the back, making him jump. He slipped into the deep river and I had to pull him back out. He blushed. I just laughed.
"T-Thank you, Princess Sunbeam." Lightning Blade bowed, water dripping from his mane. I used my magic to dry him off with some warm air. But when I was done, his mane looked like a porcupine. I began to laugh again. Lightning Blade blushed again and used his magic to style his hair back to normal.
When that was over, we sat together by the river and talked about meeting our true loves.
"I've always wanted a wife." Lightning Blade looked down at the river, "I'm not very good with mares though. They say... I'm too timid."
I understood where the mares were coming from, but I wasn't going to blurt that out to Lightning.
"I... I don't think your timid." I smiled at him. He smiled back, but soon looked back down at the river.
I shuffled a bit closer to him. He continued to stare down.
I pretended to yawn and stretch my wings. My right wing lay on Lighning Blade. He looked at me...
Our noses touched. I smiled. In the end, Lightning grinned a big grin. He was happy. I could see that in his eyes.
But that wasn't all.
I also saw in his eyes, a desire for love...
A desire for me!
I waited for a few minutes... until I asked him...
"Lightning Blade. Would you marry me?"
He was so shocked he froze and toppled into the river. I had to save him again.
"YES!" He shrieked, "YES!"
That's how we met, and got engaged.
Happy memories.
Anyway, about three years after me married, it was another time for celebration...
A new princess was born!
Yes. I gave birth to a beautiful, filly alicorn. Her name, was Crystal Heart. Princess Crystal Heart. It was an amazing day. Most ponies of Equestria came, just to see the new princess. Me and Lightning Blade hugged and kissed constantly that day. We were proud and filled with joy.
I thought my life would be perfect...
I thought it would never change...
I was wrong.
One day, me and Lightning Blade were playing with little Crystal Heart. A guard suddenly burst into our bedroom and shouted,
"QUICK! YOUR MAJESTY AND HIGHNESS! YOU MUST FLEE! NOW!"
"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?" Lightning Blade asked firmly.
"A THREAT HAD BEEN DETECTED AND IT'S MOVING TOWARDS CANTERLOT! YOU MUST GO! THERE IS A CARRIAGE WAITING FOR YOU OUTSIDE!"
"I must go and fight with the guards!" Lightning Blade passed me Crystal Heart. He kissed me and said, "Go. I'll be there soon. I promise."
"NO! I CAN'T LET YOU!" I cried as I grabbed him. He pulled away from me and kissed my hoof. Then, he just ran off with the guard.
I never saw him again.
Tears were running down my face, as I flew out of the window. I looked at the front of the castle...
It was a shock...
A gigantic, black cloud was heading towards the castle, the wind from it was intense. It kept dragging everything into it with the wind, destroying everything in it's path. I looked and saw the carriage, with two pegasi guards driving it. I swooped down...
And dropped Crystal Heart...
She began crying, as she was pulled away by the wind. I tried to save her but... she... she disappeared, in the black cloud. I never saw her again.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" I screamed, as I stood there, tears stinging my eyes and dripping down my face. I had no choice. I sat in the carriage, as the guards pulled the carriage into the sky. They were struggling to escape the wind, but they managed it.
My family...
They were gone.
I couldn't belive what a horrid, selfish, idiotic ruler I really was.
I was dropped off at Manehatten. The residents greeted me. I tried to smile, but emotional pain got the best of me and I cried more than I ever have before.
"I NEED YOU! CRYSTAL! LIGHTNING! COME BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!"
After a few days, I left Manehatten on my own. I never really understood why. Ever since then, I've been wondering Equestia alone. I don't have my crown anymore. I took it off one day, and threw it into the sky. I have never found out where it landed.
Here I stand, and here I stay, wondering this world alone.
For I will forever be...
A lone alicorn.
I just have one question for YOU.
If your life suddenly fell apart, what would you do?
