Well. This is apparently happening.

"I Just can't figure out how this could have happened!" Twilight said shuffling book from book trying to find something on what the transformation had done to her, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie.
"I think it's pretty cool we are I guess, super heroes." Rainbow said in a chill tone.
"Hehehe! I'm small! Watch out! I'm too fast for ya!" Pinkie said running about the farm.
"Eh, Twilight, could you hurry up a bit?" Applejack said struggling, "This chariot is kind of heavy!"
Twilight was giving up all hope of figuring out what had happened. But then, before she gave away any chance of not finding the cause, she found a small hope crying out to her, saying 'Read me! Read Me! I'm the answer to all your problems..' She took her hoof, and turned to the page.
~Earlier~
"Twilight, we are tickled pink that you have asked us to try out this new potion!' Applejack said happily.
"I'm not as thrilled. I'm no ones guinea pig. Put I heard this was a payin' gig so I went for it. Need the money for insurance. Yeah, my life ain't going so well right now. Ya see-" Rainbow said and was about to continue, then Pinkie interrupted.
"Oh hush Rainbow! You should have plenty of money! I saw you sellin' those little rocks of sugar cubes behind Sugar Cube Corner. I never really did understand why you didn't just bring the sugar to me! I could have made up a killer batch of cupcakes with those! Mhm, now I want a cupcake..!" Pinkie said with delight, until her mouth started watering.
"Alrighty girls! Wait, where are Fluttershy and Rarity?" Twilight said in confusion.
"Oh, they uh, where kind of busy, If you catch my drift. Wink, wink." Rainbow said.
"Nope, I don't catch drifts! I watch them on TV!" Pinkie said.
"No Pinkie, not Race Drifts, she means-" Applejack said until she was cut off.
"OKAY! We get it, except Pinkie but we can explain later! Right now, I have an experiment that needs to be drank hot, it will not have effect if cold."
They each took a cup and got a sip of Twilight's potion.
"Down the hatch, and over the gums. Looks out liver, here it comes!" Rainbow said as she took a gulp.
They each followed her bravery and took the swig they had obtained. The potion had yet not effected them.
"I think its broken." Pinkie said sticking her snout into her cup to lick the last few drops of potion.
"I don't really care. Now how many bits we gettin'?" Rainbow demanded.
"I'm not paying, Rainbow. And Pinkie, it's not broken, it will take a minute or two to effect us." Twilight said.
That's when Applejack starting coughing. Then Rainbow. Then Pinkie. Then Twilight.
"Twi-cough-light-cough- Whats-cough-happening-cough-?!" Applejack tried saying between coughs.
All Twilight could do was shrug. They each started coughing more violently and then some rainbows starting coming up.
"We are-cough- coughing up-cough- rainbows-cough-" Pinkie struggled to say.
The rainbow mucus suddenly started to conjure together. Then it began spreading towards the girls. Then their coughing spells stopped as the rainbow mucus touched their hooves. But suddenly, they started feeling powerful, more stronger. The rainbow mucus began moving up their bodies sinking into their fur, and manes. That's when they were lifted into the air, and began floating. The girls were really confused and grossed out. Then all of a sudden, armor flew out of no where. It began with Rainbow Dash.
Silver plated armor flew onto her head, chest, and wings.
"PEGGY-SIS!" Shouted the Announcer.
"Peggy-Sis? No, its Rainbow Dash." She said confused.
Then it moved to Twilight.
Silver plated armor flew onto her head, chest, and over her horn.
"HEADHORN!" The Announcer said.
"Headhorn? Hey, now that's kind of offensive!" Twilight yelled.
Next it moved to Applejack.
Silver plated armor flew onto her head and chest, and a big chariot was suddenly attached to her back.
"CHARIOT!" The Announcer shouted once more.
"Hey, what? OW! Hey, that kind of hurts! Huh, what! MY HAT!"
and finally it moved to Pinkie.
Silver plated armor flew onto her head and chest, then a shrink ray came into the picture and shrunk her to a miniature size.
"MINNIE!" The Announcer shouted one more.
"Hey! COOL! IM SMALL! AND I'M WEARING SILVER STUFF! YAY! But that Announcer guy scared me!" Pinkie shouted.
Then with one last breath, the Announcer said...
"AND TOGETHER, THEY ARE........ THE EQUESTRANAUTS!"
"The Equestranauts? What a stupid name." Twilight said.
"Well now that that is over with.. Twilight, somebody. CAN YOU EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT YOU MEAN BY DRIFT?!" Pinkie shouted.
Everyone except Pinkie facehoofed.
