Chapters The rain was light on that spring evening, with a radiant, warm sunset breaking through the heavy cloud cover blanketing ponyville. The raindrops were not quite heavy enough to warrant breaking out the umbrellas or parkas, but the citizens trudged along with their daily routines in hoodies, insulated coats and caps of many sizes.
A young, lanky pegasus in a baseball hat and sports jacket sprinted up a set of stone steps to the upper-class district of the town, with five thin boxes tucked under his arm. Luxurious apartment buildings were blurs in his rain-soaked vision. In keeping his head down, he almost didn’t have time to dodge out of the way of a luxury car.
The driving mare poked her head out the window. “Woah, kid! You alright?”
The pegasus brushed the dirt from his jeans as he stood. “Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry.” He waved as the mare drove away, then went to grab the boxes.
He fluttered over a brick wall, landing on a patch of grass that looked way too green to be natural. He looked ahead, sighing with relief as his eyes fell upon his destination. The house ahead stuck out like a diamond surrounded by rubies, as it was occupied by dozens of intermingling voices and bright lights that clashed with the rest of the now subtle and quiet district.
How Silver Spoon could afford such a gorgeous house, Featherweight couldn’t figure out for the life of him.
In any case, he was eager to get back inside and rejoin the party. He skipped across the grass and made another leap, flapping his wings to get a boost over the glass trimming of the balcony. The rain hadn’t stopped anypony from having a good time out by the pool.

“Fantastic.” Rumble took the stack of pizza boxes and stood up, beckoning Featherweight to follow. “Now, you’re probably wondering why it is that I couldn’t just fly over to the market and get these pizzas myself. Uh, hold on.” He tossed the top box into the air, where it was snatched up by Scootaloo. “Good catch! “Fine, fine, whatever. Good luck trying to win over the Queen of Ponyville.” Featherweight nudged Rumble and winked. “Not like it’s gonna be that hard anyway. Like I said, stories…”
Rumble chuckled, posing like a superhero. “Hey, have you forgotten that I was the star of one of those stories?”

“And from what we can see, you’re just not cool enough to see her.” Snails grinned and waved his hand passively at Rumble. “So, too bad.”
Rumble groaned under his breath and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Oh for crying out loud… Will you two idiots just get out of the way? Unlike you guys, I plan on keeping Her Royal Majesty-whateverness entertained.”
“We’ve already been entertaining her,” Snips gloated in his annoyingly shrill voice.
Rumble’s heart skipped a beat. “What the hell?”
Snips folded his arms, with Snails following suit. “We’ve been shining her hooves and trimming her hair all evening. We’re above you!”
Rumble retained an entirely neutral expression, his heartbeat returning to normal. “Yeah, okay… Good to know.” Brushing the two aside, Rumble held back a snigger. “You guys definitely have me beat. Why don’t you take a break and enjoy the party?”
A faux regal voice came from the seat ahead. “They’ll do no such thing. Otherwise, they don’t get paid.”
