Chapter 13: Change Of Plans

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Later that day:

There was a soft knocking on the bedroom door. Ark stood up and almost ran over to it, as he opened the door he felt a sudden sharp pain in his stomach, quickly followed by a warm wet feeling. He stumbled backwards and a shiny black creature stepped into the room.

“What… who…” Ark mumbled as he slid onto the floor.

“If I had known it was this easy I’d have taken you out sooner.” The creature said as it shoved Ark flat on his back with its’ foot. It pressed heavily down on Ark’s chest.

Ark struggled weakly against the weight bearing down on him. The creature laughed quietly and a muted green magic surrounded the open door and closed it. “You know before you showed up I was beginning to lose any hope that I’d be able to succeed in taking control… I was going to have to resort to degrading myself by actually stepping in and dating that pathetic creature.” It said hatefully. “And I was about to lose my chance before your uncle was he? Well before he came in… All eyes are on him after the last incident... That give me ample time to get rid of you.”

“What the he…” Ark trailed off as he saw the creature begin to change into… him. Ark’s struggling began anew as the changeling pressed further down on his body.

“Just die already, you’re making this harder then it needs to be by staying alive.” Ark’s mirror image said mockingly. Ark felt his strength slowly leave him as more blood rushed out of the knife wound in his stomach. “There we go.” The copy said.

Ark’s vision darkened slowly as the weakening grasp of consciousness let go of him.

“That’s it… sleep. Let death take you.” The copy said, his voice fading away into nothing as Ark fell from the land of the living.

The changeling king stepped over the body and walked over to the closet to get dressed. He didn’t notice the crimson aura surrounding the body or it vanishing from sight. “Finally. My plans are coming to fruition.” The changeling king laughed. He didn’t notice the tall and slender black figure hovering outside of the window to the bedroom, glaring at him.
