Fallen (Original)

Twilight had teleported herself as quickly as she could to the first place she expected to find Ark. Instead of her husband, she saw the burning and roiling metal and rock clinging to his form. No longer could she even really feel his presence… this thing in his body had taken complete control.

“I was wondering when you’d arrive. I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know, his last coherent thought was of you. Though, in truth his last thoughts were truly painful. I can’t let him get in my way.”

Twilight cringed, “He isn’t dead.” She stated firmly.

“Oh? And what makes you think that?”

Her eyes narrowed, while she couldn’t fully feel Ark’s usually overpowering presence, she felt something, maybe the last vestiges of his existence. “I’ve already seen three things fail to kill him. I doubt that some, demon claiming to be a god could even hope of taking him out.”

The being’s temperament violently shifted, something deep inside Twilight screamed at her to get away from him.

She teleported herself into the air, watching as the entire square was consumed in fire. Building crumbled and turned to ash and the cobble stone and different stones around the square were melted. She would have been utterly destroyed by it had she attempted to throw up a shield of any kind. “Oh? You don’t like that FACT DO YOU?” She shouted, she fired a blast of magic at it, knowing full well she’d only anger it further.

She only was doing this because she felt that something grow back inside of him after the being threatened her.

“You don’t like being called weak? The truth really hurts doesn’t it?” Twilight quickly teleported herself to a new location as a stream of fire was blasted at where she had just been flying.

“BITCH!” It growled. “I WAS GOING TO LET YOU LIVE! BUT NOW YOU’LL DIE LIKE THE DOG YOU TRULY ARE!”

As she barely got out of the way of it’s next attack she noticed something, the white flames were turning back to their normal color, slowly becoming less and less hot.

“You’re nothing! That’s why you NEEDED him to let you in, isn’t it? You have no power on your own!” Twilight growled, “You just lack the morals and empathy he has.”

“Those things are just weakness.”

“Then how have my friends and I managed to bring down much, much stronger beings?”

In that moment Celestia’s magic collapsed around ‘Arkantos’ Luna and Chrysalis’ magics also adding to it.

“This plan’s foolish!” Celestia said.

“It’s going to work, just look, he’s stopped melting the ground!” Twilight retorted as he friends were quick to take position behind her.

The roar the being let out as it tried to burn through their magic was gut-wrenching.

“If you think this is going to work than HURRY!” Luna shouted.

Twilight turned to her friends, seeing the fear in their eyes was heart-stopping. But, despite that fear of death, they all held strong. She smiled slightly.

“Do it and he’ll die along side me! I WON’T LET HIM GO, THIS BODY IS MINE!”

Luna could only inwardly smile, knowing full well what was about to happen. “Just hurry! If he breaks free we can’t stop him!”

Twilight turned back to him. “Release him, and you won’t be destroyed.” She stated firmly.

“HA! I’ll jus-ust kill you!”

His stutter showed just how hard Ark was working to regain control over his own body.

Twilight gave one last glance to her friends who were all ready.

“Drop the barriers.”

“Are you outright insane?” Chrysalis stated.

“Drop the damn shields.” Twilight stated again.

Only now did Chrysalis realize the flames attacking the shields were getting weaker. She bit her lip, and she along side the two alicorns dropped their shields.

“You wish to kill us both? Can you say you truly loved him then? Or were you just trying to get something out of him, I can tell you, those… abominations inside of you are not something good.” It laughed, only stopping as it realized the magic around it was dying. It had been completely cut off, “No… no I killed you! I MADE sure you were gone forever!”

“You can’t kill him. Not as long as I live.” Twilight’s eyes narrowed, now glowing with the magic of the Elements. “He’ll always find a way back.”

Her friends were likewise lit up with their own individual Elements, the magic coalescing right in front of Twilight.

Instantly Celestia and Luna picked up on a rather familiar scent, one that definitely wasn’t something Arkantos could possibly make. Luna grabbed Chrysalis’ shoulder, teleporting the two of them away, just as Celestia did the same.

Moments before Twilight fired of the beam of Harmony, a circle of fire formed around Arkantos, drawing his attention from the beam about to hit him to it.

“NO! I WON’T BE TAKEN BACK! I’D RATH-”

Before he could finish two magics collided with his body. The explosion they caused when they collided in him was glorious, sending everypony still in the square backwards with its’ force. Though, at least Twilight hoped, it was just a magical force pushing outwards, as heated blood hadn’t splattered across the entire square.

The six mares were sputtering and coughing, the smoke from the crater where Ark once stood filling the air.

“Ack…” Rainbow Dash gagged. “Holy… shit… what the hell caused that?”

Twilight had brought up a small shield to block the smoke from her face as she quickly stood up and rushed into the crater.

“Twi! It can’t be safe down there!” Rarity shouted after her.

The smoke quickly obscured their friend. “I need help down here!” Twilight called, Dash and Applejack instantly rushing down.

When they arrived they took notice of the heavy smell of sulfur in the air.

“What the hell is that?” Dash questioned, covering her nose.

“Sulfur.” Twilight said, “Now, please help me get him out of here!” Her magic was currently encasing Ark to lift him out of the molten slag he was unconscious in. For once sheens of sweat were dripping off his body, signaling something was definitely wrong, more so than his current unconscious state.

Applejack and Dash couldn’t even hope to touch him, his body was literally giving of enough heat that they’d get burns from moving within even a foot of him.

“There ain’t anythin we can do to help!” AJ shook her head.

“It’s like he’s the sun right now!” Dash added.

“Damn it! Then go get Celestia! She’ll be able to help me move him! If I let him down he’ll sink further into the slag, and I can’t lose him!” Twilight whimpered quietly.

“Alright, I’ll go locate her!” Dash quickly flew off and out of the crater.

“Ah’ll go get the others to clear out.” AJ said, quickly leaving Twilight alone.

“Oh… oh gods, please Ark…” Twilight said, her voice seeming to rouse something in him as he tried to move. Her eyes lit up, and with a renewed vigor she managed to move him a bit further away from the slag without her barrier falling apart. “Oh thank gods…” She said, now tearing up slightly.
