Life's a Bitch

Ross looked round the large room. Too large he felt uncomfortable. He looked to his left there was a bath room through a door. Directly opposite the door's there was a balcony the entire room was so lavishly decorated he didn't want to do anything in case he messed it up his gray and black uniform uniform clashed horrifically with the white and cream's of the room.

His right wrist throbbed angrily reminding him of the need for a new sling.

There was a knocking at the door and Ross opened it to find a... "SURPRISE!!!" A bright pink pony yelled but Ross was more interested in the large cannon pointing at him. All he could do was whimper as a saw the cannon's fuse burnt into the breach. Life's a bitch... The cannon bellowed and Ross felt whatever Pinky had stuffed into it slam into his gut.

Celestia herd the explosion and some pony yelling followed by a distance slashing as she ran round the corner she found Pinky Pie staring in horror at where Ross had been standing a trail of cake mix and confetti leading to the knee high railing of the balcony "Pinky?" Celestia said calmly
"Yes..." Pinky mutter. "Where...did Ross go?" Celestia asked knowing the answer. "O...over the...b... balcony"

Applejack looked at her friends "Did ya'll see the alien commander in-charge now?" Rainbow Dash nodded "Yer I saw it this after-noon when the princes introduced him." Twilight nodded "I've yet to see him I have so munch to ask him." Spike scoffed as he walked next to the small group Rarity nodded "Apparently he is a personal guest of the Princesses I wo-" She was interrupted by some pony yelling then the small fish pond next to them erupted sending water all over the group then a metallic clattering.

Rarity shrieked My mane! It's...ruined!!" Dash shook the water from her mane. "What the hay was that?" Spike stepped forwards and picked up the metal object at his feet "What is this?" Applejack shook the water from her chest plate and her stetson she had worn over the rusty helmet she had been issued. "That's Ross's fancy hat but wheres the head it goes on?" she explained when she saw Ross's helmet

"I think I know" Dash said as she picked the gas mask up and looked at the tube leading into the cloudy water.

Ross slowly opened his eye's and his vision was blurred. His gut felt like the had been run through. He try'd to take a breath. The water force its way into his nostrils quick as a flash he was clawing for the edge of the water only to latch on to a very surprised cyan Pegasuses and almost pull her in.

Ross saw cadet Apple who grab onto him some how and hall him out of the pond. All he cold do was lay there coughing and spluttering.

With a pop Celestia, Luna and Pinky appeared next to the small group "Well Tia he's resilient." Luna said with a smirk Ross rolled on to his side the cake mix slid from his stomach and on to the gravel path.

Celestia levitated Ross to his feet and there was a wet slap as the cast on his leg sloughed to the gravel melted by the water the one around his chest protected by the treated coat. Celestia gently put her hoof on his shoulder.

Ross stood there his water drenched hair covered his eye's he slowly took breath's and as he felt the hoof on his shoulder he finely snapped This can't be real. This is not real! there are no talking horses!! There are no Pegasuses!!! There are no bloody Alicorns... pressure press down on the other shoulder.

"Ross..." Celestia put her other hoof on Ross's other shoulder try'd to look his eye's. Ross gave her a sharp push and she took a few steps back "No this....no not real" Celestia, Luna and the others exchanged look's of concern.

"NO!" Celestia yelled as Ross drew his revolver and gently tapped the barrel agents his temple "No...no this cant be no non of this is real! " he muttered as he pulled the hammer to half-cock back then slid it back to the rest position. "This... this is a dream this is just a dream." with a sharp *CLICK* drew the hammer full back. and held the barrel agents his temple "I...if I die in a dream I'll wake up..." he looked up and they all saw the desperation in his eye's the almost ghost like face didn't help "Now Ross..." Celestia slowly stepped forwards "...just put that down." She only got a twitch of his free hand. "This can't be real..." He repeated then took a step back on his bad leg and collapsed.

Celestia was horrified at the fact he didn't show any pain or react to what must be searing pain in his broken leg only the dead look. "This...can't...be...real..." Celestia took a step forwards and Ross brought the revolver to face her. "Stay away from me!"

"Now Ross you don't have to hurt me I'm only-" Celestia was interrupted by Ross firing the revolver into the pond and a muffled explosion that followed sending water leaping over the edge of the pond.

Dash looked down at the mask still head in her hoof's then here eyes followed the stretched pipe leading to the front of Ross's coat. "Hay!" She called out with a idea forming. As Ross looked at her she let go of the mask and it shot towards Ross's face and met with a loud slap. Dashes smile faded from her face. Ross didn't even flinch only letting the damp mask slide from his face.

Ross looked at each of the present pony's "If this is reality...prove it..." Celestia took a step forwards and Ross pulled the trigger *Click!* they all flinched expecting a explosion and a lot of blood. Ross's expression of madness fell as the revolver slip'd and fall to the floor with a clatter he couldn't believe he'd do that.

Then he pulled his knees up to his chin and gently rested his chin on the knee guard's and started to rock like a distraught filly. "No... no...no..." Ross tucked his head down the trench coat splayed around him.

The small group gathered round him and they each slowly moved closer. "R..Ross w..what happened to you?" Celestia asked cautious.

"I...fuc-...snapped...lost...my...will to live... this is impossible. There are no talking pony's there not colorful. They don't have tattoos on there flanks there are no bleeding Pegasuses no bloody Alicorns!" as Ross continued he rocked faster. "I c- this never-..." he fell silent and they all gathered closer a quiet whimpering coming from the gray ball. Applejack gently put a hoof on his shoulder.

Ross half pulled his shoulder in not letting her touch him he gave up and let her put her hoof on his shoulder. "Ross ya'll right now?" "No" Dash sat on his other side of Ross " I'm sorry for almost pulling you into the pond..." she heard from him "It's ok" Dash said with a slight smile and gently put a hoof on his back "Sorry for slapping you in the face with that mask thing."

Celestia looked at her sister I never considered the need for him to adjust to this world but...why didn't he say anything? Celestia lowed her self to Ross's leave and spoke softly "Why didn't you say you did't have anything like this at home?" Ross's rocking slowed a bit "I..painkillers... h ... h ...hallucinating ... not right..." Ross started to rock again.

Pinky pie stepped up and gently pushed a cake to Ross's feet "Sorry for scaring you and shooting you with cake mix...and confetti.... and over the balcony and into the pond..." Ross head gave a slight nod indicating his acknowledgment. Ross picked the cake up and gingerly took a bite. "T...thank you" Pinky smiled and patted Ross the top of his head.

Ross slowly stood and Dash's eye's followed Ross "H...how can he stand with a broke leg!?... his pain tolerance must be freaky high!" Ross looked at Spike "My helmet please." Spike just stared at Ross. After a few seconds Ross hobbled up to Spike and took it from his hand's they all heard Ross's broken bones scrape together.

"I... I need to go to hospital c..can you lead me there?" "Of course" Twilight said a small reassuring smile on her face that faded as Ross started to walk down the path this the accompaniment of scrapes and clack's of broken bone ageist bone "No you don't." Twilight said as her tell tail magenta glow of magic lifted Ross from his feet. "Oooowwww this is odd."

Ross tern'd to the princesses as he slowly spun in the glow to face them "C...can you bring Unbreakable Shield in from outside the walls?"."Celestia smiled "Of coarse" Ross nodded then looked at the setting in the sun "Thank you...".

A few minutes and plenty of look's and bows from the pony's lining the street's Ross was sat on the same bed that he was in that morning. There where was a male Unicorn Doctor by the name of "Saw Bones" , A female Earth pony doctor called "Patchwork" and the group that walked with Ross to the hospitable.

"HE DID WHAT!?" Saw Bones asked "He try'd walked here after being shot over a balcony." Celestia told him. As the group continued to talk Ross saw Raindrop's looking round the door frame. Ross smiled and waved her forwards. A small smile found it's way onto her face as she walked up to the bed and Ross lifted her in to his lap and set her down on his good leg.

"Hello I heard you where back. How are you David?" she asked looking Ross up and down "I'm fine Drop's thanks you?"

"I'm a bit better now wh-" She was cut off as Patchwork cough sight of her "What are you doing hear!?" Raindrops let out a yell and wrap her for legs round Ross's chest. Ross responded instinctively. Putting both his arms round Raindrops, minding her bandaged wings and gently pulled her into a hug even thou it was something he did instinctively it felt odd showing this much emotion in the same month. "I invited her in is that a problem?" Raindrop pressed her head into his chest and Ross barely cringed as pain burned dully in his rib's.

"Well...no..." Patchwork said reluctantly the Saw Bones walked up to Ross "Now you... what am I going to do with you?" Ross looked him "You got magic use it." "We don't know if it will do anything to you." Saw Bones said looking at Ross's broken leg. "Plus there may be side affect's." Ross dead panned "Iv survived a how hell of a lot ... I think I can handle a bit of vertigo or what ever." "What have you actually survived I'd like to study how resilient your race is?" Twilight asked a note book and quill held in a magenta glow. "Not now!" Celestia hissed at her. Sawbones shrugged "On your head be it. Raindrops get of him for a second please" Raindrops let go and sat on the other end of the bed.

"Now then David if you feel any thing odd or feels off tell me ok?" Saw Bones stepped up and Ross gave a sharp nod as Saw Bones's horn glowed Ross closed his eye's and as a genital tingle in his bones started and is slowly spread through his body "Is the tingling normal?" "Yes often" Celestas voice meat his ear's. Ross sat there as he felt the bone's growing and fixing that felt a bit disconcerting.

With out warning something hit him like a wall of water and he felt something almost poring into and onto him "David you OK?" Drop's voice filtered in to his head it it seemed to echo like he was leaving his body. "David!" Ross snapped back and open'd his eye's to find Celesta's face almost pressed to his. "JESUS CHRIST!" He shot back and fell off the end of the bed. "Who's Jesus Christ?" Twilight asked "Not now" Luna said following her sister's gaze to the edge of the bed

"Is the feeling of water practically crushing you and something almost poring into you normal?" Ross asked as he picked him self up "Sssssometimes...." Saw Bones said un-certainly. Ross looked down and taped the broken leg and he felt uneasy as it tingled slightly. "So is it fixed..." "Yes" "... and my rib's?" "Yes" "OK..." Gently he took a step forward on his once broken leg and it held his weight. A feeling of light headiness press'd then it went. "Are you still feeling like you are being crushed?" Patchwork asked "No...just the water pouring into and onto me still." Ross felt the sensation start to subside "Ok...it's stopping now...." Ross lent agents the wall and Celestia, Luna and Twilight surrounded around Ross.

Celestia racked her vast vault of knowledge to see if there was anything that could explain what David had just felt. The only thing that she knew of was a long time ago when she was sat in between her mothers leg's and using her magic lifted a biscuit for the first time. No, that's impossible. It can't be like that, can it?...Must have been the first time he's been exposed to magic. she then filed it away as nothing more than first exposure.

Ross felt fuller than normal and then gently stood feeling slightly heaver that he should have been even in would in full combat gear.
"I...take it as my first exposure to magic..." Ross breathed slowly and then stood straight then looked at the doctors "So...that's that. Can we take the cast on my chest off?" "I believe so" Patchwork said looking for the saw to cut the cast open but Ross had striped to the waist and drew his saber then he gingerly slid it's point down cutting the cast and taking hold of the two sides of the cut he strained. A second of straning later there was a loud crack and the cast split in two.

"Good riddance to bad rubbish." Ross said as put the two half's on the bed. "OOOOOO" Pinky Pie wraped her self round Ross's right arm "So strong" Ross eye'd her "The hell..." was all he could say then gently waved his arm then harder then harder still but her vice like grip held firm. Then grabbing her by the scurf of the neck he pulled as hard as he could her grip finely gave and he held her at arm's length "Please don't do that." "Ok Dokey lokey" Pinky said she was curled up into a ball her for leg's tucked under her chin.

Ross set her down and she literately bounced around the room. "Is she on drug's?" Ross asked Twilight who shock her head "She's always like this don't worry. on another note can I ask you something?" "Yes" Ross stood there his head following the power ball Pinky bouncing from floor to ceiling then back again repeatedly at almost blinding speed. "I wold like to kn-" She was interrupted by Pinky grabbing her then shouted "I FELT HIS MUSCLES!!!" Then bounced around the room again taking Drop's with her. Twilight trend back to find a now fully dressed Ross again except for his mask and helmet that was attached to his epaulet once again.

Celestia was impress by how silent and fast he had redressed.

"I'd like to stud- talk to you about ...Well, everything. Can we arrange to meet and talk?" "Sure." Ross said then his face changed to a look of concern "Is Sergent Moonlight here?" "She's at the end of this corridor." Saw Bones said "Can I see her?" Patchwork held the door open and gestated for Ross to follow.

Moonlight lay in the bed her armorer on the table at the end of the bed. eye's closed. Contemplating the event's of that afternoon then her sensitive ear's picked up the sound of hoof's coming down the corridor. Another doctor doubtlessly coming to change the dressing's round her stomach.

Then she herd heavier foot step's follow and a slight rattle of a sword in a scrabbler. Opening her golden, cat like eye's then closing them as a slight pain shot into the back of her eye's. After her eye's adjusted she lifted her head and looked at the door as the doctor came in then Ross ducking his head to get through the slightly to low door way. "SIR!" She try'd to sit up only for Ross's hand to gently force her back down "Don't get up." he said as he stood next to the bed.
