Equestria Girls: Prologue
A sunny day.
Clouds drift around like hammocks swaying in the light breeze.
Warmth from head to toe, and happiness in the air.
So where had it gone wrong?
Was it the instant the storm cloud appeared, signaling weather worse than a windigo's false winter? Or when the air dropped to freezing cold temperatures in a manner of seconds? I think it was when the "tornado" showed up. Some unicorns specialized in the field of magic storms, and even they didn't know muck about the horrid things. They were so rare... So why us? The bearers of harmony? So many ponies it could have happened to, why not choose them?
Sorry, I probably seem selfish. But I was the one who threw myself in the tornado to save my clearly doomed friends from the sudden twister. I probably looked pretty heroic with my long rainbow hair swishing in the breeze, and my large cerulean blue wings fighting the breeze. Too bad I don't have wings anymore.
When I was sucked into the storm, I saw things. Something was watching us, and I heard faint screaming. I thought I was dying. Then the feelings of contortion set in. It felt like my wings were ripped off of my back. I felt intense pressure on my snout as it was shaped into a tiny nose. All of my fur dropped out, making me feel bare. Hair changed color and the neckline went up farther on my mane. My ears were folded in on themselves, and merged and thinned. My back legs buckled and straightened, joints rearranging. Some strong unknown force stood me up on my back legs. Cloth was draped over me in odd ways and in odd places. The changes stopped, but I had not time to celebrate. I hit the ground, soft earth seeming hard as solid steel. I think I fractured a couple bones along the way. I fought to stay conscious but it was a losing battle. I almost blacked out, when I heard Twilight's worried voice.
"Is everybody okay?" She asked concernedly.
I saw what had become of us and I only had one thing to say. "WHAT. THE. F***?"
I faintly heard a Applejack screaming but I didn't care right then. I was too preoccupied with the Elements of Harmony Problem of the Day. What WERE we? It was kind of like Spike, in that it was bipedal and clawed, but lankier, taller, and... Smooth. There was bare, unprotected skin all over us. Maybe that was what that cloth was for? But... it was so... skimpy. It was kind of like a saddle in Rarity's boutique, nice, but with almost no functional purpose. And our skin was... Colorful. That wasn't what was supposed to be under our coats!
All of a sudden I noticed Fluttershy. She was levitating towards something. A very familiar creature was watching her, hidden behind a tree. I probably would have beat up that thing If I wasn't feeling so beat up myself. I had just fallen out of the sky after being transformed into some strange apelike creature after all. Anyways, she pulled out a guitar and started playing some metal music or whatever. I wasn't really that into it, I dunno.
I rubbed my head. Where the flying fondant was Applejack? She was out of sight.
"Where the eff is Applejack?"
"She was picked up by something. This might sound weird, but... I think it was a giant apple?" said Fluttershy, suddenly quiet and shy again.
"Of course! The legend of Appul!" said Twilight, as always on the edge of realization.
"Appul?" Asked Pinkie Pie in a shout
"Ssh, not so loud. Appul is the name given to a deity and its followers. It chooses one who knows the true meaning of Apple and she is given the power to do whatever she wishes. There is a cost."
"What?"
"She can only be loyal to Appul, and she can only say one thing: Appul."
"You really think Applejack is the chosen one? I mean, she farms apples and all, but the TRUE meaning of Apple is incomprehensible. No one can know it."
"She's gotten the closest. Giving up her speech will give her the capacity to truly KNOW."
I finally spoke up. "This is stupid. Do you honestly expect for me to believe that Applejack is a 'chosen one' destined to take over the world with Appul?"
"There's the proof." She gestured towards the park. Applejack was crushing people with giant apples.
"Well okay then."
"She's still Applejack though. She is still our friend and the element of honesty." Said Fluttershy
"And we should treat her as such." Twilight agreed
"Also it gives her sweet dance moves." Pinkie pointed out
"Awesome" I said.
