Scarlett.
There once was a pony called Scarlett. He never spoke to anyone, casting himself out of society and away from all others. But there was something about him; strange and worrying about him. Whenever anyone saw him, they would notice scars up his legs. Not many, not very large but very fine and clean scars. No-one ever mentioned it to him, until one day...
"Hey Twilight! What's up?" Questioned Spike as he returned from one of his 7 hour bubble baths. Twilight had been to Zecora's hut in the Everfree Forrest to buy some supplies for experiments, but while she was there, she noticed a house.
"Oh nothing Spike, just saw a new house in the Everfree! I might go and visit the owner later!" She replied after several seconds. Spike looked happy about the newcomer to Ponyville.
"What does the owner look like!?" Pondered Spike.
"I honestly don't know?" Said Twilight "But I'm sure he'll be friendly!"
3 hours later...
"Hurry up Spike!" Twilight shouted to the purple dragon as he hurrily caught up. She tapped the door of the reasonably new cottage she had stumbled upon earlier. Whilst she was waiting; she took some time to observe the exterior of the build. A single-floor, wood and cobblestone cottage with a stumpy chimney. There was also a balcony attached to the side with a telescope on it's tripod. All of a sudden, the door edged open. There stood Scarlett, grinning at the visitors that he presented himself to.
"Hello?" He spoke.
"Hi there! We just thought we would stop by to say welcome to Ponyville!"
"Why thank you!" He replied with. "I've not had visitors in a long time! At least 6 moths! Why please, come in!" Twilight stepped in, shadowed by Spike soon afterwards. "Please do make yourself comfortable! Do you want a cup of tea?" Asked Scarlett, holding back a grin that could almost be called psycotic.
"Ermm... Yes please." Replied Twilight.
"Nahh, I'm okay" Said Spike. She took the time from his company to observe his characteristics. He was slightly taller than everypony else and was rather stocky, even for a colt. He had a medium-blond mane of decent length and a Scarlett red fringe. He also had snake bite piercings and several faint scars. She had also spotted the red rim edging his eyes, standing out from the pale white skin covering him. He had slightly larger wings than a normal pegasus too. When he returned, he handed out the drinks and sat down, grasping a mug of latte in his hooves. After an hour or two of talking and becoming familiar with him, they got onto the topic of friends. Twilight had noticed his eyes redden slightly more when they touched on this subject. She asked about his eyes, to which he replied with
"I don't really want to discuss it to be honest." Shortly after, they left.
That night, Twilight was researching as she does nearly every Wednesday evening, when she considered looking up Scarlett's background. She didn't know his last name, but she tried finding out information on him anyway. Unfortunatley, nothing was found.
2 weeks later...
The main six were sat there in Pinkie's house watching the news, when there was a news flash...
"PRINCESS LUNA FALLEN ILL."
"Oh no! We should really go and check up on her right away!" Rarity announced. The rest agreed and they ventured to Canterlot to the royal palace. When they arrived, Twilight was shocked to see Scarlett by her side in reassuring the crying princess.
"Scarlett! What are you doing here!?" Twilight screeched.
"I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" Quivered Scarlett.
"Oh no darling! We were just surprised to see you here! According to Twilight, you were that loner that lives near Zecora!" Belched Rarity, not thinking. All of a sudden, he shot out of the room in tears, clearly upset about what had been said. Rainbow Dash soon followed him, appearing to be angry with Rarity for some unknown reason.
"What did I do?" Pondered Rarity in awe.
Rainbow saw Scarlett balled up in a corner in floods. She sat down next to him and hugged him as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Dashie... is that you?" He murmered.
"Yeah bro, it's me." She answered as she started crying. "What have you done to yourself!? Look at your arms! Who did this!? I'm gonna f..." He interrupted with
"I did it."
Dashie walked out holding Scarlett up straight as they dried their eyes. Rarity apolagized to the pair and after caring for the princess, the mane 6 left. Scarlett soon followed after kissing Princess Luna on the forehead and wishing her sweet dreams. He soon caught up to Dashie and the rest of her friends. After several minutes of walking and silence, Applejack piped up and broke the silence. "Now what in the hay happened back there!?" She said in confusion. Dashie eventually said
"He is my big brother."
Everyone gasped with shock. "The last time I saw him I was 5 years old, he was 9." She sniffled with a mix of happiness and sadness.
"I flew away from home when I was nine to persue my dream career of becoming a musician. I went on from here to meet Vinyl Scratch and Octavia. We were roomates until a little dispute broke out after someone stolen Tavi's Stradavarius violin. They both dumped the blame on me and kicked me out. I lost everything. My house. My dignity. My friends. All I was left with was the few belongings I had in my suitcase and my guitar. I got a house sorted just the other week near Zecora's. I have become an outcast in society, and this lead to my depression. As you may be able to tell from the scars; I self harm and have done for nearly 3 years now. Although I wasn't as bad recently, for I met my darling marefriend Princess Luna."
In unison the others shouted "What!?"
"I met her in one of my dreams. I was consenplaiting suicide and finishing it all the easy way, when all of a sudden she shown up. She talked me out of it and proved to me that someone cares about me no matter what, and that somebody was her. I am planning on proposing to her, as she was the one that saved me. I now roam the dreamlands of everypony that feels down. I do this because I don't want anyone feeling as bad as I felt or even worse, ending their own lives."
"Well... that was a shocker!" Pinkie shouted in amazment.
"Hey, we will always be here for you" whispered Fluttershy. Everypony else agreed with her and they all hugged him.
Six months later...
"Dear Princess Celestia, over these past few months, I've learnt how meaningful friends are and how we can help one in need. I also learnt that you should never use a permament solution to solve a temporary problem, for it always gets better!"
