Chapter 3: Feathers
Rainbow Dash flew as fast as her wings would go. She wanted to walk Scootaloo all the way home, but she just couldn't. She could not last another minute and needed to get home before anything else could ruin her vacation.
The autumn wind brushed against her coat. Her skin shook off the coldness and tried to focus on something else. She looked up ahead of her and saw a dark storm cloud headed her way. She sighed and approached it slowly, she thought she might just take her stress out on this lonesome cloud to make her feel better.
As she raised her hoof to the cloud a shadow appeared from the cloud and smiled.
Rainbow Dash fell backwards. She was surprised and couldn't speak or fly away. Instead the mare just stood flying in the same spot, staring deeply into this figure's grin.
The figure didn't look like a pony to her, instead it was more like a griffon.
She backed away slowly and imeadiately flew off.
There's no way that was Gilda! There's just no way... Rainbow Dash reassured herself.
And what if it is...?
She smacked herself and laughed as she proceeded to head home. "I'm beginning to think stupid thoughts again..."
She smiled, but slowly began to frown again. Her eyes looked away from her home and looked down towards Ponyville. There she spotted a mare wearing a large cloak.
Trixie?
Rainbow Dash needed to confirm that this pony was in fact Trixie so she flew lower to get a better look. As soon as she came within several feet of her Rainbow Dash thought, "What am I doing stalking a pony I probably don't even know! Well it's because I've got nothing better to do anyways... "
The pony stopped and carefully looked around. No pony was in her sites so then she reached a hoof into her cloak and pulled out a picture. Rainbow Dash landed softly on a cloud so she could get a look at what this picture was.
It was a picture of a pegasus mare. Her coat was blue, and she had a rainbow mane. It was Rainbow Dash flying back at the Wonderbolt Academy.
Rainbow Dash covered her mouth so she wouldn't gasp. This sort of thing Rainbow Dash would be normally used to, but for some reason something about this didn't feel right.
The mare then began to pull out more pictures. One of Rainbow Dash's recent birthday party, one of her with Twilight when she was flinging spitballs at her index cards, and one of her at the games with Fluttershy and Snowflake...
Rainbow Dash's stomach churned. How did this pony get pictures of her. She never recalled seeing any one around her when she was studying with Twilight. And no one at the games took pictures of Rainbow Dash's training. Who was this pony? And how did they get pictures of her?
She backed away slowly... A disturbing thought occurred in her head, and Rainbow Dash couldn't shake it out.
What if this pony was a... Stalker...?
And if they were what did they want with Rainbow Dash?
Rainbow Dash felt her head pound, and her head spin. She felt dizzy and tried to escape silently. But then as she back away slowly she bumped into something... it felt larger than she was and felt... feathery.
She screamed and ran away, but a claw grabbed her hoof. It pulled her back, making Rainbow Dash gasp.
The figure silenced her and looked back to the spot the pony had been. It seemed like they hadn't noticed and they just walked away, putting the pictures back into her cloak.
"Who are you-"
The figure placed a claw over the mare's mouth.
"It's me Gilda. I need to talk to you about your friends--"
"Shut up!" She slapped the claw off her mouth. Her eyes were watery with furious tears. "What the hell do you want!!!! Leave me alone!"
Rainbow Dash turned around to fly, but GIlda stopped her in her tracks. "No use trying to escape. I'm just as fast as you are Dash!"
Rainbow Dash stared at the griffon angrily and pushed her away. "I hate you! Don't you understand! I'm not cool enough for you, but that's fine with me! I don't need you, I don't need to go back to the way I used to be!! Get the fuck away from me!"
Rainbow Dash flew as fast as she could. Thanks to the dark night, she lost the griffon that was once her friend. She crashed into her cloudy mansion and slammed her front door behind her.
She was breathing quickly. She sobbed into her hooves as she locked the door.
Everything was stressing her out, and just what she needed. She just had to see Gilda of all her old friends it had to be the one that was always there for her.
Rainbow Dash ran out of the classroom. She hated her teacher and the kids at her school. Always calling her lesbian, flightless, and stupid.
Could she help it if she learned differently than most of the students? Or that she inherited her father's rainbow mane? Or that she wasn't a great flyer?
"Rainbow Dash...!" A teacher called from the distance. Her voice sounded gentle and worried. "Please, Rainbow Dash talk to me!!"
"Screw this school.." She muttered under her breath and flew away, until she was out of anyone and everyone's sites.
She was breathing heavily. She cried into her hooves as she sat on a cloud.
"I hate this school..!" She screamed. Not caring who heard her.
"Hey." A voice called out in a jokingly tone. "Keep it down or else we'll get caught."
"I could care less." Rainbow Dash replied as she wiped stray tears from her eyes.
She felt another figure sit on the cloud beside her. Rainbow Dash instantly covered her face by slapping stands of her rainbow mane in her face.
"Relax. I'm not going to hurt you or anything.." The voice said. "And if you're going to cry don't cry to loud because I'm trying to sleep..."
Rainbow Dash looked into their eyes angrily. "Who said I was crying!"
"I heard you cry rainbow dweeb."
"I'm not a dweeb!" She screamed loudly. Her tomboyish voice cracked, causing the griffon to burst into laughter.
Her expression soften and she stared at them in awe. This was the first time she had seen a griffon and it was cooler than in the documentaries.
"Hey, you're okay for a rainbow pegasus." The griffon said as she extended her claw. "Name's Gilda."
"Rainbow Dash..." Rainbow Dash replied as she shook her claw.
After that Rainbow Dash began to ditch classes and get into fights and often get into many arguments with teachers. No one wanted to mess with Rainbow Dash, but no one wanted to get involved with her either.
But there was still one that stood by her side... It was the griffon she met one faithful day..
Rainbow Dash snapped out of her memories and returned to reality. This wasn't juniors flight school. It was life, reality. The difference between now and then is that there weren't second chances anymore...
Rainbow Dash flew upstairs and slammed her bedroom door behind her. She turned off all the lights and hid in the comforts of her bed and covers. Away from those that only hurt her...
