Chapters When I awoke, I was in a bed. Probably Lyra's, as a matter of fact. A mare came in and said "Hi Lyra, how are you?" I told her I was okay and i was going to Vinyl's home. When I got there, I asked her to teach me magic. My way of getting out of telling her the truth was that I had never been taught. She bought it and taught me magic. Afterwards, I went to twilight's home. I asked her if I could borrow a Daring Do book, which she let me do easily and I went right back to Lyra's home. Little did I know, the princesses knew about me.
I felt a pounding in my horn and then nothing instantly. It was coming from Ponyville. I went there and it came back even stronger, pulling me right to somepony's home. I knocked on the door and a mint green unicorn answered, looking bored. "My name is Lyra," she said.
"Did you see anypony suspicious around here?" I asked.
"Um, no. Not at all," she quickly said. I think there's something strange going on here... I thought.
When Lyra told me she was a unicorn I didn't believe her at first. I wanted to, but I just didn't know what to think. Lyra managed to convince me and told me about Ponyville. "So now what?" she asked me.
"We eat lunch and then P.E.," I said. "Are you in my class?" She nodded and then we finished lunch. At P.E. we played baseball. Apparently, there is no baseball in Equestria. Then we went home. I asked my mom and dad if Lyra could stay over, and they said yes. Then we got Lyra's stuff so that she would come over.
"Princesses?" Miss Winters asked, and then the next minute I was at the principal's office. She yelled at me, as expected, but I just zoned out and went home. I was at Aaron's home, and at dinner when his parents asked how school was, I said "Okay," with an absolutely fake grin.
After dinner we watched Indiana Jones and I went to bed. In my dreams I was me in my pony body but on the outside, I was human.
Celesta left, now I can get back to reading, I thought. Then another knocking came and I answered. She was back, and said with a frown, "I know what you are, human."
"Me? No, not at all. You've got the wrong pony, princess." I said, knowing I had to get her out of here now. "Can you please go now, princess?" I said, but she grabbed me with her magic and teleported us to the castle. She made me tell her the whole story, which I reluctantly did.
She brought back Lyra and asked me, "Do you want me to make you a unicorn permanently?"
"No, not if I have to leave my family," I said.
"You have passed the test," Lyra said.
"I did?" I asked.
"Yes, you needed to love something more than you love Equestria." She turned me and my family into unicrons except for Angie, my sister. She became a pegasus.
Hi. Let's get something straight, I'm a brony and I love anything with magic.
It was a night like any other and the room was only lit by a lamp on my desk next to my bed. I was in bed, half asleep, listening to Goosebumps like I normally do. Suddenly, there was a blinding golden flash of light. It was so strong I had to cover my eyes. When I opened them, I gasped. Lyra was in my room! She looked just as shaken up as I was, shaking her mane and tail and repeatedly blinking. Slowly, Lyra turned her head and saw me. She let out an exaggerated, prolong gasp.
"Oh my gosh! Are my eyes deceiving me?! Are the legends REALLY true?! A-Are you a human?!" Lyra stuttered. My eyes were still wide with shock. A...REAL Lyra. A real life, tangible Lyra Heartstrings! I slowly nodded, unable to speak. She gasped again and ran up to me, tapping my hands and stroking my hair. She began asking me millions of questions. I tried to answer them at first, but she was going so fast! Her enthusiasm grew as she began to speak louder, so I quickly put my hand over her muzzle, shushing her.
"Quiet, or you'll wake my mom and dad!" I hissed. I let go of her muzzle and she exhaled softly. Lyra nodded.
"I'm sorry...it's just...wow, a real life human!" said Lyra. I laughed.
"It's okay," I said. Lyra looked up at me, her eyes filled with curiosity.
"What's it like? Being a human, I mean," asked Lyra. I froze. Wow. How do I respond to that? What IS it like being a human?
"I...I don't know! Normal, I guess? What's it like being a pony?" I asked her. Lyra put a hoof on her chin.
"Wow, that's a hard question. Hmm," said Lyra. Suddenly, the mint green unicorn gasped.
"I know! The only way to know what it's like to be a human...is to BE a human!" said Lyra.
"What are you saying?" I asked. She grabbed my shoulders with her hooves.
"I have a spell that can temporarily switch our bodies. You become me, I become you. That is, if you want to. So, what do you say?" asked Lyra. My eyes grew wide? Become a unicorn? Well, I guess it couldn't hurt.
"Can you do it?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yes I can." said Lyra. Her horn lit up in a golden aura. The transfer of souls hurt, as my human soul was forced into a pony body. It knocked me out and then my unconscious body was sent to Ponyville.
I groaned. My head was killing me! I tried to rub it, and I gasped. No horn! But that could only mean... I was in the home and body of the human! His memories flowed into my new human brain. His name...what was his name? Ah, yes. His name...was Aaron. Aaron. Hmm. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue smoothly. Apparently humans have weird names. His parents started yelling at me.
"Aaron, what are you doing?! Go to school!" they shouted. I rushed out of the house, nearly tripping. Humans have such a queer way if running! Horror gripped me. I had no idea where this kid's school was. I found another human who looked about my age. I crept behind him as he walked down the sidewalk, hoping he would lead me to the school, which he did. I found myself at his school sitting at a desk. I was ecstatic. It was going to be so fascinating seeing how humans perform magic. Miss Winters, the teacher, walked to the front of the room and pointed to the board. There was a math equation on the board, and she began to explain how to solve it. I patiently waited for her to begin teaching magic. Thirty minutes passed. No magic? I raised my hoof to-wait, no. That's not right. HAND! I raised my hand to ask about magic.
"What about magic?" I asked. Everyone looked at me and a kid snorted.
"Magic? Ha! You're stupid, Aaron!" I shrank into my seat. A couple of other humans gave that kid dirty looks. No one laughed. Thank Celestia! The bell rang and all the kids rushed out of the classroom. I was standing alone at the playground during recess, not sure who my friends were. Suddenly, a little human girl came up to me and waved.
"Hi, Aaron! Want to talk about MLP?" the girl asked. MLP? I shook my head.
"I'm not Aaron!" I said, and immediately gasped. How could I be so stupid?! I sighed. "Well, I guess I'll tell you. I cast a spell on Aaron to switch bodies with him. I'm...actually...Lyra," I said. The girl gave me a skeptical look.
"You're Lyra Heartstrings?" she asked. I nodded and she was still skeptical. I leaned in close to her, making her take a couple of steps back.
"You can't tell anyone, got it?! Oh, I'm sorry. I'm being so rude. What's your name?" I asked. The girl stood as tall and straight as she could, restoring her pride.
"I'm Penny. Yes, I promise I will tell no one," said Penny. The bell rang again. It was time to go in. In class I raised my hand.
"Where are the princesses?" I asked. I received many blank stares. I realized what i said and I knew my fate was sealed. It was inevitable, a fact that couldn't be escaped.
I had blown my cover.
